I use imagewriter in avs only for preview but don't want to use avisynth/directshow for thumbnails. It is easier but a lot of users won't be able to use it as it will require avc decoder and splitter.
DGavcDec does not require any codecs and splitters installed!

Could you PM'm me your e-mail so i can send you the index file?

It is in program's about window.

I don't know if it has already been reporte but I have encountered a problem after cleaning up the AVCHD subdirectory. I deleted som of the old folders and now I get a message 'cannot rename file D:\AVCHD to D:\AVCHD-20090315-XXXXXX' when I try to create multiBD. XXXXXX stands for the time and changes every time I try again. Furthermore MultiAVCHD jumps to the top of the screen and sort of minimises to a small rectangle. No way to do anything but close and restart. And then again the same message. Any ideas?Regards.

You either use READ only folder/drive or the AVCHD folder is locked by other application.

I always use "Custom name" and it is appended to the AVCHD name, so just try it. Also - it is always GOOD IDEA to check what your TARGET and TEMP folder settings are. Those errors depend solely on the user.

DGavcDec does not require any codecs and splitters installed!

Oh, I didn't know - never used it. Is this 'dgavcdec' free and where do I get it?

ofcourse it's free. This is the only way to get frame accurate access from .m2ts

For mpeg2 use DGIndex http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=144903

for vc1 we have no solution :( Maybe you should try with latest ffmpeg.

Too many variations. I can easy get frames from mkv (despite the codec), probably from mpeg - i have to check.

ffmpeg is no good because it needs to seek to requested frame and it takes FOREVER if frame is @1h point.

And of course all this will be unnecessary if chapter thumbnails are not used :) or I can simply use avisynth and directshow and it will work for those with needed codecs (which I don't want to do)

If you're using PDVD I guess this is the problem. I got reports from many users having their PDVD giving strange errors like 'DVD door not closed' or similar with builds after I did change what I said in previous post.

You can send me your index.bdmv at my email and I'll return it to you with the change so you can test easily. No need to test with PS3 - it works, as I do my tests on PAL PS3.

Burned a new DVD with the index.bdmv file you modified, and it worked like a charm. Now PowerDVD could recognise the DVD, and all went perfectly fine. If others out there are having trouble playing the DVDs with PowerDVD, this small change could make a whole lot of difference.

Thanks a lot for the great and swift help, and for the app.

I guess I'll revise the change I did few builds ago and PDVD will work again. Update to build 462 - it is fixed.

Thanks again, jjrdias!

Great program, I have been using it for just 2 days. It is a must have. No rush, but how is the center alignment of 1980x8?? mkv files coming along?

deank
15th March 2009, 22:34
It's coming slow :) as for 1280x(<584). If there is someone familiar with h264 slices and their insertion in h264 stream or (the easier one) PIP subpath in mpls for BD/AVCHD let me know.

Hi Dean,

This is a pretty minor thing but somewhere between build 460 and 462 the centring of the footer got messed up. It appears right justified now. You can see it in preview also.

When i click the .exe file to start the program, instead of it starting up properly i get a small box usually what is the log box but with just a text in there saying "= cDragDrop: DragAcceptFiles: (RT) Access violation at address 00EADF60. Write of address 00EADF60 - Line 11"

Hi Dean,

This is a pretty minor thing but somewhere between build 460 and 462 the centring of the footer got messed up. It appears right justified now. You can see it in preview also.

I moved it to the left intentionally, as there is no way to center it when using bottom offset. I fixed it in build 463. If for some reason footer doesn't look centered - use leading or trailing spaces.

i get a small box usually what is the log box but with just a text in there saying "= cDragDrop: DragAcceptFiles: (RT) Access violation at address 00EADF60. Write of address 00EADF60 - Line 11"

Hello,
Iv'e made some tests with the last updates and I've find a minor problem.

Test with 3 short trailers with xmb menus.
With external files (audio tracks, subtitles and chapter).
the files are :
movie1.mkv
movie1.fra.ac3
movie1.eng.ac3
movie1.srt (undetermined for make a forced subtitle track)
movie1.fra.srt
(same for movie2 and movie 3)

1) After compilation, the order track for audio and subtitles are
determined by alphabetique ordrer name of file
ex: movie1.eng.ac3 is the 1st track audio and movie.fra.srt 1st subtitle track.
=> Can you make a option to force the order when multiavchd detect and import the external files
Like add number support track with the file, ex :
movie1.1.fra.ac3 and
movie1.2.eng.ac3
Same thing for subtitle files :
movie1.1.srt and
movie1.2.fra.srt

2) During playback, the language code for audio track are not displayed correctly (no indication) but for the subtitles tracks, it's works fine.
I've checked the m2ts files created and the code language are correct. Same thing for the mpl files.
But the CPLI file are not correct.
With CPLIINF Editor I've correted the tag information and fix the CLPI files.
The result playback works fine and language audio track are correctly dispayed.

3) At last, for the chaptern with external file, the chapter point work fine but in xmb menu only the first chapter point (00:00:00) is created as thumbail not the others ?

For detail informations, see the log file and the chapter file txt.
I've a mistake ?

Chapter makrs are not used in XMB but 5min intervals. You're not doing anything wrong.

I'll see about audio lang codes and order.

----

Build 465:

* Changed option in Audio/Subtitles:
[x] Add embeded ASS/SRT subtitles

Now it affects SRT, too (not just ASS). I did some tests and it happens that some MKV files have SRT subtitles that tsmuxer fails to process at some point, returning error "Can't convert source text to UTF-16. Invalid chars sequence. " and multiAVCHD will say "Important files missing clpi/mpls...".

This option (if unchecked) will help avoiding such errors.

* Added support for external DTS audio tracks (it seems I've missed this in previous builds)
* Added support for language codes for external audio tracks (the same way as for subtitles): movie-name.eng.ac3 / movie-name.fre.dts....

It works exactly as you wish - you just needed to test first :) Name your files with .1. .2. and they will be ordered.

2) During playback, the language code for audio track are not displayed correctly (no indication)

Update to 465 and test for yourself. It should all work.

I've just test v.465.
It works fine for audio/sub code language display and for the order of track.
Thank for this update.

I've just a strange windows error message during the last steps of compilation.
After "Populating menu structure" -> during "creating menu backgrounds" step this message error apears :

"No Disc in the reader. Insert disc in D reader" with restart / cancel / ignore option. (this is a approximative translation my OS is in french)
Original message in french " Il n'y a pas de disque dans le lecteur. Insérer un disque dans le lecteur D" Recommancer / Annuler / Ignorer.
(D is the Hdd partition where video/audio/subs files sources are stocked).

If I check ignore option (the message appears 3 time one each title ) the compilation finish without error in the log and the result AVCHD is played fine.

This is because multiAVCHD is searching drives to find X:\.multiTH folder where mplayer created thumbnails. There is no workaround. Are you sure that D: is HDD but not a DVD-Drive?

drelin
16th March 2009, 17:26
Yes I've make mistake, you're allright D: is DVD-Drive (not HDD).

It's strange with prior version I've never seen this error message ?

Have you a issu for correct this ?

And a question, what is the version used for tsmuxer with multiavchd (in tools folder) ?
I'ts just for know if the Forward/rewind bug correction is integrated (between 1.8.24 or after)

Thank.

deank
16th March 2009, 17:52
I'm not sure - you can check yourself in tools folder. The last full-package contains version 26 but if you did exe-updates only, then it is an older one.

About the DVD drive... if you had a disk in the drive, or mplayer created thumbnails in drive C:\ you wouldn't see the error but it is this way for 10 builds now. No - no workaround yet.

Hey Dean,

the headline in the Menu Properties were never shown since the last updates! Is this a new bug?

I think from Update to Update the Program works badlier.

Its pity.

Lately? With ALL FILES? With what player?

Do old files get processed wrong now?

There are millions of reasons... as many MKV files are out there.

gevmack23
16th March 2009, 23:18
they were two new mkv files i got. I also put a mkv file that i had success with on the same project and that one worked. All the thumbnails showed a picture at the corresponding times on the menu screen, but when i click on the new ones no video. Alone they play on vlc media player, but slightly choppy; it seems all my m2ts and mkv files play choppy on vlc. Right now im using ts muxer to see if they will play individually through blu-ray folders

I keep getting "mplayer stopped working correctly" in a box that pops up then Windows is checking for a solution anytime I try multiple titles. Anyone else see this? I was able to continue making the multibd after hitting cancel on the box. There was however a large BD with 20 titles that the program just paused at around 70% making the menu and wouldn't continue.

deank
17th March 2009, 21:27
I get this error, too. With 24 titles I'll get at least 4 or 5 errors and sometimes when the error doesn't appear I need to END mplayer.exe TASK in task manager.

It is a known problem with mplayer and I'm still trying to find a workaround.

So, if multiAVCHD gets to the point of creating title/chapters thumbnails and it takes more than 5 seconds to move to the next chapter (% update) it means that mplayer needs forced close with end task. multiAVCHD tries other ways to generate thumbnails and will continue - so your compilation won't suffer when such errors occur.

Build 467:

[x] Use Directshow (XMB)

option is added in Author tab.

If checked, multiAVCHD will try to create thumbnails using directshow first. You will need decoders/splitter installed to use this option. If used - thumnails will be properly generated and no mplayer errors will occur. It is a bit slower than mplayer but works 100%. On my machine it takes about 15 minutes to create XMB menu with 24 titles. After all we're talking about extracting over 240 thumnails/frames from these m2ts files.

If Directshow fails, multiAVCHD will try with mplayer - as before.

I´ll try to find a way for me to get directshow stuff (ffdshow, haali media splitter) run under crossover/wine and mac os x environment. But I am not so hopefull.
Never ever would I recommend to use parallels or vmfusion as those need to have an installed windows.

Good news for mac users by the way: tsMuxerGui is now available in a native version for mac os x. But of course I will continue to build menu based BDMV´s using multiAVCHD.

That's why I added it as option, so MacOS users (and those who don't have codecs/splitters) can continue using it with mplayer. It is half a solution, but in fact works great.

Thumbnail images are generated within +/- 3 seconds of the chapter jump point (5min) which is much better than mplayer + its crashing.

***

About the splitter - I'm not really sure if it is needed for framecapture, so AVC/VC1/MPEG2 decoder should suffice if you're not planning to watch these m2ts files using directshow.

The steps for generating thumbnails are: AviSynth script using Directshow source M2TS file (audio disabled) with ImageWriter and x264 to execute the script. Without the audio you may not need a splitter... I'm not really sure, though.

This extracts 5 thumbnails to use the 5th one with XMB:

directshowsource( M2TSFILE, audio=false, fps=XMBmtsFPS(M2TSFILE) ).trim( STARTFRAME , STARTFRAME+5 ).ConvertToRGB24()
ImageWriter(DEST_PATH, 1, 5, "jpg")
ConvertToYV12()

I'm adding support for those external/built-in chapters so they will be used in XMB instead of 5mins default.

About tsmuxerGUI for macOS... :) you still can't use it for MOV files, right? :)

At least I have to write out my final cut timeline as two files. The separated video and audio files are well accepted by tsMuxerGui.

But of course: your programm is much better ... I love it and use it ... but I think I´ll do it without xmb (as wrong thumbs could confuse people).

... mmh ... ok .... what AVC/VC1/MPEG2 decoder are recommanded? I would to some tests.

I've just tested the last version 467 with Directshow option, It works fine without error box message.
Thank you this issue.

I'm waiting now your add support for external/built-in chapter thumbail in xmb menu (if I understand well) :-)

hey deank, is there a program that will allow me to shrink a large m2ts file to mkv x264, which is smaller in size, but no loss in video quality, so i can use multiavchd to make a multiple title disk. I noticed some downloaded mkv files didnt work with your program, they werent compliant. Your program is the next "thing", i wish i could help you in your builds and i will donate

Ok ... I have ffdshow installed under crossover. Directshow method does not work even. Do I have to install other stuff?

Unless you get your files with proper width (720/1280/1440/1920) you can't use them with multiAVCHD.

You can use other programs as mkv2vob or RipBot264 to reencode your files to compliant version.

I have no idea. If you install it and try to play a m2ts file does ffdshow engage? What options did you use while installing it?

i tried to play a m2ts file with media player classic under crossover after I installed ffdshow (activated all options during installation progress). It played in a very stuttering way, but it did play.

Do you see FFDSHOW icon appear? I really can't help with this as I don't have MacOS installed.

Can you try this:

paste this into x264-test.cmd and replace path_to_x264 with your real path

"C:\path_to_x264\x264.exe" --bitrate 14000 --keyint 24 --min-keyint 1 --ref 3 --mixed-refs --bframes 3 --weightb --subme 5 --partitions p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8 --8x8dct --ipratio 1.1 --pbratio 1.1 --vbv-bufsize 30000 --vbv-maxrate 30000 --qcomp 0.5 --merange 12 --threads auto --thread-input --progress --no-psnr --no-ssim --mvrange 511 --aud --sar 1:1 --output %1.264 %1
pause

paste this into test.avs and replace "your_mts_file.mts" with the real file name:

directshowsource( "c:\your_mts_file.m2ts", audio=false, fps=23.976 ).trim( 1, 5 ).ConvertToRGB24()
ImageWriter("c:\", 1, 5, "jpg")
ConvertToYV12()

And then try to drag test.avs to x264-test.cmd to see what will happen...

Just done another film, using customised 'jump points', with 7 scenes, but multiAVCHD still created 12 'chapters' (thumbnails)! The last 5 are useless(ie. nothing happens when selected) Does it always create 12, or am I missing something?

Cheers, Dave.

ps. tried both directshow and the standard way!

It was not implemented, yet. If you took time to browse the last pages of the thread you would have known that.

Build 468:
* External/embedded chapters are used for chapter thumbnails in XMB style menu

I did some tests with ts/mkv/m2ts files... Please let me know if something is wrong.

You will see information in the progress bar about current chaptermark used while generating menu.

I've tested build 468, works fine with external chapter and chapter thumbails creation in xmb menu.
Thank !

I've a suggestion for menu button :
You use a "arrow" graphic button in your menu, It is avialable to use a frame surrounded the picture title (same thing for thumbail chapter) ?
It for a cosmetic better presentation, because arrows are not very easy displayed (specially in chapter selection = to small size).

And just a remark about button in the selection chapter, when I test with PowerDVD, if a use the arrows key on keyboard, the navigation buttons are OK. (like remote control with standalone player)
But if I use the mouse for selection button (in chapter thumbail element), I saw more arrows buttons than chapter thumbails created.
I try to explain :
With 4 chapters jump creation (4 thumbails created correctly on one line), with keyboard When I go to down of th line chapter, I return on title selection (OK).
But if I use the mouse, I can see another arrow button to point on nothing (blank thumabil without link navigation).
You what I try explain ?

I got an email few days ago with the same questions.

No, at this point I can't implement any other type of navigation.

About the mouse - I know - it is been this way since the beginning and it affects all types of menus (classic/thumbnail/xmb). multiAVCHD is primarily to be used in hardware players and there you can't use a mouse and everything is fine.

If I find some more time I may try to take care of it.

I was under the wrong impression that tsmuxer supports only HH:MM:SS format for chapters.

So in build 469 you can use either HH:MM:SS or HH:MM:SS.MLS (milliseconds)

You chapter files may contain either format, but NOT MIXED.

It's me another time.

A question about "poster image" :
For this picture, what is the size needed for poster image ? or you make a automatic resize ? (horizontal orientation only ?)

It would be better if the input image is 16:9.

kenguru2005

Wow ... when using external/embedded chapters even under crossover/mac thumbnails in XMB menu are accurate (+/- 1 sec). But you have to integrate 00:00:00 as first chapter in your txt. I used for example in my 1:14 HDV clip: 00:00:00;00:00:10;00:00:25;00:00:40;00:01:02 ... and mplayer does a nearly perfect job.

Perhaps some people confirm this by using external chapter an disabling directshow option ....
