So I posted earlier about making a Blu-ray Demo disc and have been playing around with multiavchd and it has worked fine except some clips I add come out with the audio and video out of sync with others being fine. They are AVC with TrueHD. I created the clips using tsremux. I believe the original clips are in sync, even though I don't have a way to play them with audio, because if I convert to AC3 it is in sync. Only when I run through multiavchd does it come out of sync. I am running Win7 Ultimate, 64 bit, converting to Blu-ray format. Suggestions?

I uninstalled all my codec packs, (k-lite, etc.) also uninstalles multiavchd and avisynth matroska splitter and ffdshow. rebooted, reinstalled only ffdshow avisynth and matroska splitter. and i still get the same errors.

@Starkenator: Yeah, use the original clips, don't pre-process them beforehand. And using win7 64bit is a bit far ahead of my ability to support it.

@Beatnut: I can't help you further. You need to figure it out yourself. There is something wrong at your end.

hi dean
i noticed the version 713 is fixed a rare bug when passing thrur ac3
what does it mean exactly?
please help
As yu know..
I been having a problem when encoding the bluray encoded and burnt on bd-r (audio gaps while playback)
does this have to do anything?

Build 714:

.............Also in this build there is an update for audio titles/albums with .cue sheet, which has INDEX 99 parameter to set duration of the album. multiAVCHD won't ask the user for the duration if it finds INDEX 99.

Dean

Unbelievable :)
You answer on forums, develop, improve...what next?

@vamsiklak: The fix is for some rare cases when eac3to fails to encode audio (when needed), because multiAVCHD incorrectly passes audio track number to be processed. I think it won't solve your problem.

Thanks Dean. I took a couple of the full titles and used multiavchd to trim them where I wanted and the audio sync worked great. However a strange thing happened. After the first title finished it jumped to almost the end of the second title. I could rewind back to the first part but it that is pointless. Did I change a setting that would cause this?

You can post your log - it will be easier. It may be related to chapter marks if you used 'trim/cut start' in title properties.

Hi Dean,

for some strange reason, the "Use 64bit version of x264 encoder" option keeps disappearing (i.e. getting greyed-out) from the "Settings" page after a project was run.

I actually can't determine a pattern. I can check the box, run a project, everything's fine. Next time I start multiAVCHD, the 64bit option is unchecked and greyed out, and the only thing that helps is using the "Reset all to default" button. Then, I can check the 64bit option again. Am I maybe using some other option that automatically disables the 64bit x264 option...?

I'm using the latest build on Win7 x64 machine.

Thanks for your help, Dean!

Best,

Gero

The option is disabled and should stay grayed out. I posted about this few weeks ago. Since I'm unable to make 64bit x264 to work with 64bit avisynth the option will not be available. Whatever you're trying to do, multiAVCHD will always use the 32bit x264.exe, so don't try anything :)

My music compilation works if mastered to a DL dvd (does not skip chapters though, even with GOP=1, if I try to skip it hangs)[AVCHD built of course], but does NOT work if mastered to a BD-RE (media not supported error).
ImgBurn and "Folder mode".
My standalone asks for no multisession and finalized BD-RE in specs, but how to do it with ImgBurn in Write Folder mode? Should I go with ISO mode instead?

My standalone is a Panasonic BD60E firmware 2.1 (the latest).

Any hint?

Hi Dean,
I have another suggestion : to be able to see the ts files when we add video files, because if we have a lot of ts files to add, we have to click on "files type" and choose ts for each ts file !
And to be able to open several files at the same time and not only one by one would be also great.
Thanks for your work. ;)

Can you post your log? Chapters should work if they're set in the CUE file and multiAVCHD processed them as songs. GOP setting has nothing to do with chapters. If you're burning a BD-R/RE disc, then you need to use "Blu-ray output" in multiAVCHD, not AVCHD for optical media.

Give it a try.

You can add multiple files from the "Open file" dialog. About .ts files - you can use the drop-down and select *.ts... also you can DRAG&DROP files to multiAVCHD instead of using 'Add video' button. You can also type asterisk * in Open file dialog and you'll see all files.

Yes: when I burned to AVCHD I choosed AVCHD.
When to BD-RE I choosed Bluray build mode.

AVCHD: I guess it is pretty much standalone related.

Here I've two issues:
1)Chapters
2)BD-RE "Not supported" error.

Must be said that with Total MT 3 and my bluray burner, chpaters are working and BD-RE too.

Thanks dean !

You can add multiple files from the "Open file" dialog.
Cool, it works now, but when I tried the first time, MultiAVCHD crashed.

About .ts files - you can use the drop-down and select *.ts
That's what I said but it's long.

... also you can DRAG&DROP files to multiAVCHD instead of using 'Add video' button.
Good idea, it's much more fast !

You can also type asterisk * in Open file dialog and you'll see all files.
Cool, I didn't know that.;)
I explain for jerks like me :D (because I needed at least 1 minute to understand that trick :o ) : we have to type the asterisk beside "file name" (where the name of the file appears when we have chosen it) and click on open, then all files appear in the list.

I can't see anything wrong in the LOG. Your player is PAL, right?

I'm doing some more experimenting with audio compilations (more later), meanwhile I've some "standard" questions.
Suppose I've a bluray rip and two dvd rips.
Bluray comes lebelled as PAL yet it is encoded as 23.976.
DVDs are PAL (720/576@25fps).
I'd like to make a compilation out of this material and burn to a Bluray (not AVCHD).
How should I handle the two dvds? Re-encode them to be AVCed (and resize to 720p) or just leave 'em untouched?

Thanks, Dan

It is always better to leave video in its original resolution / framerate. Because your player is both PAL and NTSC compatible, it should be no problem to have mixed content within the same disc/compilation.

But one question: should I leave it MPEG2 or should I encode it AVC/H264 ?

It is up to you. If you want to save space - encode to AVC/H.264 - otherwise leave it as MPEG2.

Some light after the tunnel...the "unsupported.." error has been addressed.
Worth mentioning once again the environment for other mates here.
Windows Vista Home premium SP2+all latest system updates
ImgBurn 2.5.0.0 (AnyDVD disabled)
LG BD-RE BE06LU10 external usb 2.0 latest firmware
Standalone Bluray player: Panasonic BD60 with latest firmware
Media: Sony BD-RE, 25GB and 50GB

Now...where was it the problem? ImgBurn formatted the two media correctly after a couple of retries each. Without errors I mean.
Apparently, Deank. Story turned into being quite different.
So...I just went to explorer and formatted the media there (UDF 2.50/2048).
No errors and...media (blank as just been formatted) were inserted into the Panasonic standalone and correctly detected without any errors.
mastered a multiavchd project via ImgBurn...standalone went with no problems.
In short: ImgBurn did not work with my burner and that media as far as formatting is concerned.

What next? I'll check chapter skip issue mentioned in previous post.

Cheers, Dan

Try this in your registry:

1) change permission in

(32bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectShow\Preferred or in

(64bit) HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectShow\Preferred

Right-click the “Prefferred map and select “Permissions”. By default the only user with permission to change these keys is “TrustedInstaller”. To take control select the “Advanced” button and go to

the “Owner” tab. Select “Administrators”, check the “Replace Owner on subcontainers and objects” checkbox and press OK.

2) delete whole \Preffered folder (don't forget first to make a copy/backup of Preffered folder if this guide doesnt work for you)

3) change VC-1 decoder to wmv9 (FFDShow Video Decoder Configuration)

Good luck.

Hi and thanks for this great tool.

I was wondering what settings are you guys using for uncropping. I read that simple 1 pass would do the job, but how is quality affected compared to the original? Have you tried a comparison to the original mkv in a big screen with a projector? I tried various modes and then with mediainfo I can see that each mode has different parameters which are very different to the original mkv. Is this changing the original mkv entirely like being a different encode? I'm really worried about quality. In such a case, which mode should I use?

Thank you for your feedback.

@shabadaus: Can you check if your video is PAL (25.000fps) and that you're using the latest multiAVCHD build. Also - can you post your log?

@koutou: Transcoding/uncropping in both multiAVCHD and uncropMKV means "full reencode" of the video with x264 encoder. Of course it will have different 'settings' than the original. "1 pass", "1 pass Turbo" are good choices. You need to do your own test to see if you can see the difference in quality.

Build 715 should slowdown the video from 25fps to 23.976.

1) Go to AUTHOR tab and select NTSC tv system
2) Load the file
3) Click START and then "Playstation 3"

You should see a line in the log that multiAVCHD is performing NTSC slowdown.

Let me know if it works.

Build 716:

* Few small fixes and "Media" tab changes:

http://multiAVCHD.deanbg.com/multiAVCHD_media.jpg

"Transcode" button is now available directly in MEDIA TAB. Clicking it will open "Title properties" and if transcode is available for the selected file, "Transcode" window will automatically appear, too.

Don't forget that you can open title properties by:

Selecting the file/title in the list and
* Clicking "EDIT"
* Clicking the info-line just below the file list
* Clicking "TRANSCODE" button

or

* Just clicking the title name in the "Compilation" box

I wonder how it is so many people NEVER got to the extended properties of a title ("Title properties" window).

Because we don't see at the first time that we can click on the file names in the compilation box. It doesn't look interactive.

The reason is that you computer cannot properly decode .m2ts files. I'd suggest you to uninstall haali splitter and when installing it back to tick MPEG-PS and MPEG-TS checkboxes.

You can test if it is okay by importing a M2TS file in multiAVCHD and check if you can see preview in Title properties / Transcode. If you have a preview with m2ts files there - you will get the thumbnails, too.

Preview works, with a single .mts file, and when adding an AVCHD folder, so multiple m2ts files in 1 title works too.

But when i press start, and it tries to make a menu at the end of the process. still gives these errors.

I meant the LITTLE PREVIEW BOX on the left-top (where you see multiavchd.deanbg.com) - it should show a frame from your video.

3x3 preview works, because mplayer is used, not directshow and this won't help you. It may help if you uncheck [x] Use directshow option in Menu TAB...

You should see it like this:

I guess i'll have to deal with it , unchecking use directshow didn't do the trick either.

ah well...

Last week I installed Windows7 64bit JUST to try if multiAVCHD will work properly and I had no problems with it.

What I did was to install ffdshow, avisynth and haali splitter - nothing else and the clean install of win7 worked with multiAVCHD as a charm with the first try.

If you have some weird codec packs installed - uninstall them and start again (if you have the nerves).

when i look into installed programs, (i dont know what it its called in english) it only shows ffdshow avisynth and haali media splitter, no other codec packs. btw, how come i do can make a menu from a single m2ts file and not from a folder.

You seem to use 'poster' images, which make it work. If you can't get the chapter thumbnails to be created then you can't get 'title thumbnails' to be created either.

Frankly, I have no ideas how to solve your troubles at the moment.

multiAVCHD just finished processing. The other computer running BD-Rebuilder on a different VC-1 movie... is still running. ETA on that is another 64 hours. IF that is actually true. IT will have taken it almost 3.5 days to process. A total of the 64 it has left, but the 22 hours it has allready been processing! I knew there was a reason why I only use one comptuer to process video. I hope it doesn't take as long if I can get it to run on my video system.

One step forward... one step back.

It converted the VC-1 Video to H.264 like I wanted...Yipeee! Finally! & the video even played just fine (At least on the computer it did. Don't know about the BD390 or TiVo yet. Will check on that later).

NOW the problem is... the resulting M2TS file it created has a massive Audio/Video Synch problem to it. Whats up with that?

What I am trying now is this.. I am demuxing the h.264 file from the M2TS file it created, and then I will remux with the original AC3 file that was demuxed from the original M2TS file off the Blu-ray. It probably won't work, but since it only takes about 15 min to demux and remux I thought I would give it a try & of course that didn't work either. The Audio/Video synch is all out of wack.

Any ideas now on either how to get multiAVCH to do it correctly, or to fix the issue by other means?
