I prepared a test archive... I'll upload it in a bit.

If someone can test if it will work on their Panasonic TV or BD player via SD card.

@G_M_C: does your player has SD slot?

multiAVCHD already sets the correct aspect ratio. If AR<1.77 it is set to 4:3, otherwise to 16:9. Please update to the latest build (351+) and try again and post the results. My PS3 plays everything fine in 16:9.

what about mkv's which have SAR? also, would it be poss to add a button to make all 16:9?

I have an European Panasonic DMP-BD35 with SD card. I can test it... BTW, thank you for your great work!

I'm not sure if I understand... multiAVCHD uses width and height to set 4:3 or 16:9... it doesn't care what AR is used and set in the MKV/AVC header and it wouldn't make any difference if it did, because only these two are supported.

Here is an archive of SD card contents:

_SD.rar (http://rapidshare.de/files/45068265/_SD.rar.html)

Unpack it into a clean SD card and try in Panasonic TV or BD player with SD card. Test if SUBTITLES work and if audio is 5.1 for Title#1.

Contains no menu but two titles - 1st) 1280x720, 2nd) 1440x1080

***

All reports are of second title working, which is not satisfying.
Please stay posted for info on SD playback.

Yes, it does ("SDHC"). But I haven't used yet, cause i have no card for it ;)

I could borrow the one in my friends camera. It's 256 Mb if i remember correctly, how big is your sample ? I need to find a way to get it on the card, can you use the camera itself as a SD-card reader/writer ? I also have a Canon MP620 with an SD card slot, that might be able to function as reader/writer will report back !

Simple old MMC or SD will do the work, too.

@G_M_C: the sample is just 17MB

I have a 32MB MMC card laying around, so I will give it a try later today

Panasonic just made an update available for the EU versions of the BD30. The changelog mentiones "Playability of AVCHD format (motion picture) recorded on an SD card". Might already be fixed

The firmware is V. 2.2, dated 3-feb-2009.

Bummer, I have the US version. But I am sure it will eventually come my way, unless of course its already in my december 2.6 firmware.

I am asking for this SD functionality because all of a sudden my Panny BD30 has started giving me "this disc is incompatible" errors and refusing to play my BD-9. Whats odd is I did not change a thing with it and the disc played fine in it yesterday. So I tried re-updating with the same 2.6 firmware again and it gave me same error with the CD that has the firmware on it. Hope my machine is not going bad. BDs play fine at least at startup, have not watched a full movie. I would sometimes get this error on a BD-9 if I put one in following a previous bd-9, but a power down cycle with the disc in it seemed to work, but not anymore. Weird.

Build 355

* Requires DAT update (http://multiAVCHD.deanBG.com/datupdate) (8MB)
* Added option to force 16:9 aspect ratio
* Added option to extract three TrueType fonts to use for menu generation

First post contains download links for the latest build (12MB) and a separate link for DAT update only.

How does this work with those 3 fonts?

deank
9th February 2009, 14:51
Install them and menu will look nicer. I guess the emulator in MacOS supports installing windows TTF files.

In windows: open control panel / fonts and copy these three there. It is also possible to copy .ttf directly to windows\fonts but then a restart could be required.

kenguru2005
9th February 2009, 14:54
I did like you said (copied to windows/fonts), but when I restart and open menuAVCHD I can´t find an option to choose one of those 3 fonts. Btw.: where should I see the font´s option in Menu-Tab?

Just try to generate new compilation and check if it shows different.

Also in Authoring you will find "Outline" color option for menu titles/text.

Default is: black ($000000).

May improve menu vision if custom background and custom menu color are used.

kenguru2005
9th February 2009, 19:15
I get my best results when outline color is set to default (black). Those "extra" text (author info etc., btw. I understand this) is a little "dust on the lens".

deank
9th February 2009, 19:31
It depends on what background image you choose...

Build/site/date information could be removed if 'donation program' evolves. I'll post later on it.

All builds of multiAVHCD will cease to work properly when deadline expires.

Simple old MMC or SD will do the work, too.

My Panasonic BD30 manual only mentions SD cards and not MMC. I guess I can try it without doing harm.

deank
9th February 2009, 21:06
You won't do any harm :) SDHC is backward compatible to SD, which in its turn is compatible to MMC...

So any SD reader normally accepts SD/MMC cards. The difference is transfer speed, security lock (mechanical in SD), one more pin for SD and higher capacity.

I have tried right now (my Blu-ray player is at home ;) ) and the results are:

- No subtitles.
- Audio is 5.1.

Hi again,

I have another issue when using a 1280x546p title.
My Samsung SAP doesn'y display the right size.:( I've checked with VLC and he perfectly read this m2ts file. Moreover this file was created with tsmuxer from a mkv file and I added srt subtitles and split the whole in 2 m2ts files because at this time I didn't know how to create a splited Bluray file with tsmuxer since only one BDMV system file was created when using the option.
So Iif I try to add one of the m2ts files with PGS (well cut) in multiAVCHD for creating a compilation or tsmuxer (in order to generate a Bluray structure), the subtitles seem to be processed again by multiAVCHD internal tsmuxer or stand alone tsmuxer with the result they are displyed in the middle of the screen without any relation with th original settings (Font 50 bottom, offset 40).:sly:
Is there a way to avoid that or to convert PGS subtitles from the m2ts to srt and add them again for creating a new compilation ,or will I be obliged to proportionnaly cut the original srt subtitles and re-insert them in a new compilation?
How add subtitles in multiAVCHD?

I know it is not totally related to your prog but thank you for helping.

DeanK,

First of all, I have been using the program since its birth and I gotta say you've been doing an amazing job! Keep going, I give you my full support and I will be donating soon.

Well, since the latest update, I have re-downloadeed the program, but I can't seem to download the DAT file. After waiting 32 mins for Rapidshare to allow a new download, it stops at 99,98%!!

Would you be kind enough to upload the file to another server?

Cheers!

Same as alot of poeple, great work on the program.
Tested the SD card in my Panny TV and DMP-35, same results, only shows the second title to play.

As I said earlier in this mega-thread: I would donate again as I did 2 days ago ... esp. for the possibility to remove those extra information. And if at the end my 1080-mpeg2-mov files are accepted and processed (incl. pcm-to-ac3-conversion via eac3to) the most mac people in semi-professional post-production will follow me, I am quit sure about this.

Is there an easy way to extract contents (tracks) of MOV files?

I wrtite my final timeline from fcp directly to the harddrive as a selfcontaining mov (incl. HDV 1080i25 video and 48 khz uncompressed audio). I put this file in avidemux2_gtk for lossless reencapsulation of video part into a m2v-file. Audio part is encoded to ac3 by avidemux2_gtk in a second process. Those two new files are now accepted by tsMuxerGui for remuxing to m2ts.

You see: it is a multi-step procedure, but still a lossless workflow concerning video part.

deank
10th February 2009, 10:54
It happened to be really easy to convert your mov file to m2ts (it took 1 second to demux tracks and put them in m2ts). I'll post a link for you to download it and check if it is okay.
