FYI:
I had issues with 4:3 720x576 pixel videos. They were played 16:9 on my PS3.
Solution: I added the aspect ratio information to the RAW H.264 stream
using MP4Box. The M2TS container does not support any AR information AFAIK.

Now I can use multiAVCHD to combine all my home-made SD videos on one disk!
Thanks, deank!

And one more question to All: I use multiAVCHD to make BD-discs of the films recorded from a DVB satellite receiver, as I do with DVDs since 6 years. NO ONE of cutters/trimmers I knov does the job properly: I mark start and end points, and NEVER I get cuts in the right place - it begins mostly after the indicated point, As for the end cut, it comes mostly before the position I have set.
Does anybody has the solution of the problem?

How can I be sure that x264 is working? I placed x264.exe in the program folder of multiAVCHD. Is that enough or must it be installed? If it has to be installed, how? It's not a WinXP executable.

x264.exe is win executable. If not present in multiAVCHD - the program will download it itself. For custom menu and custom intro/welcome screen you need AviSynth installed too - otherwise x264 won't function at all.

You can find out if it is working if you're using custom menu or custom intro screen. Then 01400/01401/1402.M*TS files in STREAM folder shoud be playable (via PC player) and more than 200-300kb in size.

Will someone with Panasonic player report if 308 custom menu works?

Build 308
x264 and AVISynth 2.5 are present. NTSC

Authoring:
[x] Create top menu
[x] Static menu (lite)
[x] Custom menu
[x] Sequential title playback
[-] Full title count for menu page - not checked
[-] Skip top menu playback - not checked
"Custom name" - filled in.
[x] Show in...

Sony BDP-S50:
1. Intro Screen (sound clip plays and custom name is shown)
2. Transition to splash screen with the two titles showing and empty square brackets below on the right. No arrow.
3. Transition to black screen with nothing but a single blue arrow. Selecting the arrow plays the title. Direction down moves the arrow down and the second title is played.

Panasonic DMP-BD35
Same as above except the title will not play. This is a known issue with Panasonic SAP's and tsMuxer.
1. Intro Screen (sound clip plays and custom name is shown)
2. Transition to splash screen with the two titles showing and empty square brackets below on the right. No arrow.
3. Transition to black screen with nothing but a single blue arrow. Selecting the arrow causes the player to "Stop".

There are a number of threads on various Internet forums about the problem with Panasonic. In short, some Panasonic players will not read muxed VC-1's.

I have a BD30 and it works with almost everything I throw at it. The BD#5 are the ones that are problematic (i.e. BD35, BD55). Supposedly there is some patch to files that can be made to fix.

TSPE (http://www.bitstreamtools.com/) seems to work best for most people.

There is a forum thread right here on doom9 (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143249) where the author takes input from users and he will study any streams you have problems with.

Try starting here with this post (http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1229365&postcount=160)

And search for this: "BD-9 playback on the BD35 is old news to me since Alluringreality put up his guide. You have to hexedit index.bdmv and movieobj.bdmv as he explains." in this thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=815296&page=60).

And there is this thread here (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=25842).

In some cases, I think the issue has to do with BD-J menus. Deank - Are you using BD-J for the arrow menus for custom menu?

Been away for a work assignment, and now that I'm back i see loads of update of this jewel program!
I've been skimming the thread (doubled from the last time I read them), and I think I have one possible answer for title count is not the same from the title menu and input files.
I had this issue a while back, and the reason was... broken .SRT file.
You see, one of the reason to create multiAVCHD for me is to include a soft subtitle option. During one of my session, I got this 5 input file, but only 3 is shown on Title menu. After carefully backtracking the process, I found out the culprit is the .srt file that I use. It has double 'enter' separating 2 timecodes/subtitle line

for example:
01:00:00:05->01:00:05:12
I love your program, Deank.

01:00:07:05->01:00:09:12
Thank you.

this subtitle is correct. But these below will create hiccups and stop muxing the file (at least from what I experienced).

01:00:00:05->01:00:05:12
I love your program, Deank.

01:00:07:05->01:00:09:12
Thank you.

I had 3 episodes that has this problem when I tried to create a 5 episode AVCHD. Yes, the three has this line issue. After fixing them, all went fine... as in perfecto.

I don't know whether this issue has been brought up. Maybe this can help.

cheers

If someone can test again with build 309.

@robshot: I can make multiAVCHD check srts for this problem and fix it before processing with tsmuxer.

I added it in build 310.

still if subtitles have one empty line like:

1
00:00:36,903 --> 00:00:38,903
TEXT #1
TEXT #2

2
00:00:39,704 --> 00:00:41,706
TEXT #3
<EMPTY LINE HERE> <--- this will cause problems too!
TEXT #4

3
00:00:41,914 --> 00:00:44,125
TEXT #5

Hi Deank,
Great.
I was skimming this thread just now and noticed there are some issues with difference between input file count and title count. I found that the srt was the problem, and fixed it. Perhaps, the same can also be applied with those issues - and not related to your build/version.

I also see that custom menu is now available (YAAY!). I plan on testing this tonight. But that's about 3 hrs from now. Can I put my own jpg/bmp as background image? :)

Btw, you were right and I was wrong when we discussed about the aspect ratio on PS3 playback for 1080p and 720p.

deank
3rd February 2009, 11:40
@jfcarbel: No, no BD-J menus nor java. Plain m2ts menu files - each of 30kbs :)

And about AutoUpdate checkbox. multiAVCHD will force auto update if you're too many builds behind.

@robshot: Yes, you can select custom background (jpeg file). It will be resized to 1920x1080 if not this big already.

Here is the result of build 310 with the SAP Samsung BD 1400:

still no arrows,
the SAP stops showing the menu, but is not accepting any command via RC,
the SAP stops with the menu even having checked 'Skip top menu playback' !

I bought the Samsung SAP because at that time this SAP could play BlueRay disks, which couldn't be played with one or the other SAP (Panasonic, Sony).

Hello, 5 days has passed since registration, now I can post.

Tested the Build 308 with a SAP, fine but "black screen with arrow".

My AVCHD DVD disc with lite/static/custom menu created by the build 308 plays well on my Sony Blu-ray player(BDZ-T90 --- HDD/Blu-ray recorder/player with TV tuner, NTSC), except a black menu screen with arrow. I see "welcome screen with sound", "menu screen with titile list(no arrow yet)", then "black screen with arrow". Arrow works to select a title to start playing.

I've just upgraded from the build 277 to 308. On the build 277, no problems are seen(I still keep the build 277).

My authoring settings are;
[x]create top menu
[x]static menu(lite)
[x]custom menu
custom name - [x]show in intro

I'll try to do tests on my SAP as much as possible, but am sorry I do not have a PS3.

Works well on PS3 ... but still no arrows in custom menu.
In default menu I get those little blue arrows for the price of loosing individual titles.

Btw ... thank you for a great program anyway. I use it on Mac via Crossover. Bad thing with Crossover: no auto-update. And the actual release available on rapidshare is v300

Greetings

There is a link in the first post to download the latest for MAC. But I think that the normal version should also work for you.

I have PS3 and can test with it - it is not the problem.

I can also revert the things to 277 menus, but I remember that then it didn't work for other people.

kenguru2005
3rd February 2009, 16:19
The link for the mac version resists under the "Major version 1.4" header ... so I thought it would be an old version. Actually I use build 300 and hope to see soon an actual version on rapidshare or better a version2.1 ;-)

What is it with the panasonic? And what exactly this avchd patcher does?

Because multiAVCHD creates index/playlist/clip files with correct AVCHD values (100), not the ones that tsMuxer puts (200)...

Please let me know.

Not sure if the question is for me. But if it is, using build 311 on the Panny, the first and second screens appear correctly EXCEPT there are no arrows on the second screen and the player then locks up.

The titles I am using were both muxed to rip them from their original source before applying multiAVCHD. I saw somewhere that muxing them removes three bits that the Panny looks for in order to play them.

Btw, speaking of donations, i'm still looking for a safe way to send you some coffee-beans and a "french press" we talked about. But sending a glass container by mail doesnt seem safe. With no custom menu, both screens look like yours but when I select one of the titles, the Panny goes to "stop". Pressing "play" brings me back to the top menu...etc.

alex777

I know nothing of encoding menu screens, but is it possible the problem "black screen with arrow" is caused by something like PAL/NTSC mixture(e.g. PAL background plus NTSC arrow)?

According to my understanding;
- Most Blu-ray players(and TV sets) sold in PAL area accept both 25 and 30 fps (& 24 fps)
- Blu-ray players(and TV sets) sold in NTSC area accept only 30 fps (& 24 fps)

In fact, My Sony NTSC BDZ-T90 resets itself without any warning message if an AVCHD dics with 25fps content is fed.

Tried build 312 and still have issues with menus and Panasonic BD30. This time the menu shows up but I have no arrows and using the number buttons sometimes seems to work but not always.

Dean, build 218 worked perfect for my BD30. Is there any chance you can supply a link to that version? I have no problem testing newer versions, but would like to be able to rollback to the build 218 for my actual use.

Build 312. Almost get the CUSTOM menu worked. Almost...
With x264 and avisynth installed, the LOG and TEMP showed that CUSTOM menu is being made. But at the last stage, I got fix/cli error.
Checking the TEMP folder, I can see the .avs created by the process, and the .x264 file - which when I renamed to .m2ts is playable with vlc and show my CUSTOM menu.
BUT... the copying process to the final AVCHD folder from this TEMP folder stopped when I got that fix/cli error. MultiAVCHD quits, and my AVCHD is incomplete: i.e. the .x264 didn't get muxed (?) and copied to the final STREAM Folder.
This is a session with 2 titles (@ 45 mins).
Recreating the session, but with only 1 title, the process went fine and I have an AVCHD folder and can see the custom menu in the STREAM folder. Checked the .m2ts, and it shows the welcome screen, and the other .m2ts is the CUSTOM menu with 1 title. Haven't checked with my PS 3 since I'm testing this in office hours :)
I'll redo the CUSTOM menu test again with multiple titles.
Deank, multiAVCHD is nearing its PERFECTION!!!
