when version 4.0 comes out? i wait for encoding new jobs :) ...and will you add a x264 custom command line, custom avisynth scripts and dgdecnv support?

deank
16th February 2010, 20:19
The version will be out by the end of the week I hope.

AVS script import is already implemented in the RC build (which answers the question about DG).

Custom x264 parameters are not a priority at the moment.

A siimple "thank you' would also be appreciated as you are a user with no contribution (testing, sharing) to the project whatsoever.

First of all thanks for the great work you're doing deank :thanks:

Lately I've not followed your progress with 730RC (I’m more interested in re-author mode, hopping someday re-authoring branched blurays will be available), but a quick look at your last posts has impressed me with the nice features you are adding to MultiAVCHD.

I have one question… When you demux m2ts files, what are you using, ac3to, tsMuxeR or a demuxer developed by yourself? I answer this because tsMuxeR is known to have problems with audio in branched movies, while ac3to handles them correctly, and despite nowadays MultiAVCHD can’t re-author branched blurays if in a near future you develop this functionality and use tsMuxeR there could be some sound problems in the re-authored movie.

Greetings

One of the next days you'll get a lot more menu customization options per title + option to save and share them with other users.

@rendez2k: No, there are a lot of changes. The 'beta' is in the history now :)

@chompy: I can't promise anything. multiAVCHD's main purpose is authoring...

Good idea for Option to share custom menus with other :)

I'm thinking about create a Sujet on Multiavchd Forums to share my Custom MAIN /SETUP / CHAPTER menus and provide package ready to create authoring.

Just a little issue with the actually version :
With static menu background + audio background (30 sec duration) on main menu, the audio sequence is played only one time and looped. ?
Tested on PowerDVD and satndalone players.

Edit :
With another tests, I've found that after 30sec duration sequence audio, the audio is not played during the same time (30sec) and reloop after etc...
audio played 30sec -> 30 sec without sound -> audio is played 30 sec -> 30 sec without sound ......

Hello,

In addition to my preview post, i've made 2 complete projects AVCHD/BDMV with the last version (4.0 build 731+) : One in 1080p and another in 720p.

I've found 2 issues with Pioneer standalone player.

1- With the 720p video project, the POP menu not works (with 1080p it's OK).
I don't know, if it is a limitation a the player (according to previous post with Deank) or not ?

2- During beta/RC tests time, all projects created for was short with only 12 max chapters marks.
Now, I've made projects with long time video title and 20 chapters marks.
Multiavchd creates the good entries and chapters thumbnails. 2 Chapters menus pages had been created fine.
Duuring playback on Pioneer, the 1st page have good links to according chapters time (12 chapters).
The 2sd page display the 8 last chapters thumbnails, but if I go to "right" after the last chpater thumbnail (normally 20th chapter), the playback display the next navigation box chapter (without chapter thumbnail).
And if I check the chapter links of all chapter thumbnails on 2sd chapter menu page : the links are the same of 12 first chapters (like as the links of 1st page are replicated on the 2sd page navigation).
This issue appears only on Pioneer playback. On Sony player, It's works fine.

Make sure you use version 4 with clean install or delete your .ini file, or edit line 58 of the .ini to show the number 7.

*** About the Pioneer: I was wondering when you'll report about the chapter and title list menus and the Pioneer. And the pop-up menu... probably the pioneer doesn't rescale the popup and it stays in the invisible part of the screen. You can try to create a project for Playstation3 - there you'll get 720p popup, then AVCHDme-undo and try it in the pionner.

Thank for the tips for POP menu, I'll test this evening.
For Pioneer, in my last previous post, the 2sd point issue is with the actual 4.0 build 731+ version not with RC version.
I'm sure that is was clear, I prefer repeat for precision. :)

EDIT :
About Custum menu package that I was want to provide for other users, tell me if I can open a new sujet on Multiavchd forum to provide links for download packages.

Yes, but let me first finish with the option in "title properties" - then you can share a package in a format, which multiAVCHD will accept.

I added an option in MENU/Advanced: [x] Always match pop-up menu to title video resolution

It will create pop-up menus for each resolution when the blu-ray player does not rescale it (the way it works for PS3).

Awesome work, Dean! Thanks for this fantastic tool!

drelin, your menu it's looking great, man! For DVD's, I use DVD-Lab, and for motion menus I'm importing a PSD / generating motion menus with DVD-Lab built-in encoder. How did you encode this particular motion background? Did you use a PSD file AND a motion, and convert to MKV for use in multiAVHCD?

And Dean, I wanna know if it's there a way to import a motion AND a JPG, making menu with static image and motion background.

For the Video background creation , I use Video editor (like Premiere / Vegas / Afetr Effect) and export to mkv.
I creat composition with PSD files layer, video and "green mask" for incrustation (like blue screen in FX movie).

In multiavhcd the motion background is a video sequence.
For the SETUP and Chapter menu the background is static jpeg. After, I make some replacement files in output AVCHD folder.
It's tempory solution before that Deank finish the adds in titles prorieties for custom background.

Just wait, when Deank will provide these features, you'll can make this compilation more easy.

I'll provide packages with some custom creation menus. :)

@all:

There were a lot of important fixes today. Make sure you have the latest build-update (still 731) by updating when asked or manually with multiUPDATE.exe

The fixes were mostly about playlist processing and project file creation. Should you have problems with importing older compilations (even from builds 730/731) - always make sure to remove multiAVCHD.mpf and let the program rescan your input folder. This is very important.

First time user here:

I installed version 4.0 (build 731) on Vista-32bit.

I created a Blu-ray structure from some Sony camcorder AVCHD files. Everything works except none of the chapter thumbnails display (just black frames). The log says using 3 thumbnails and extracting 3 thumbnails.

I also installed on a laptop running Vista-32bit and everthing works, including the 3 thumbnails, using the same media files and multiAVCHD configuration settings.

What should I look for that's causing the thumbnails not to display? Avisynth 2.5.8 is installed.

Thanks, AJ

Make sure to reinstall your ffdshow and haali splitter and use the versions I posted here (http://multiforum.deanbg.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17). If your video is MPEG2 make sure to select MPEG-TS and MPEG-PS when you install Haali splitter.

THe same as what you have on the working configuration. I don't know. Remove all other codecs/decoders, reboot, install the required ones, reboot and retry.

I keep these 3 programs for the last 2 years - never updated them and all builds of multiAVCHD always worked.

Ok, I'll dig into it. What's really strange is that neither ffshow or haali are installed on the working laptop and don't showup in DFSMgr! I suppose mediaAVCHD is connecting to some other filters that perform a similar function. The laptop has lots of CyberLink directshow filters that are part of the Dell MediaDirect services.

You are probably right, I have Cyberlink PD8 and had forgot to install ffdshow once, multiavchd worked fine. I installed in after. CCLeaner is a good program to get rid of broken/missing links and it's free!

MultiAVCHD is a great program and getting better by the day! I quit using PD8.

Well, multiAVCHD doesn't need ffdshow or haali explicitly. It needs a mean to decode video and audio from your input files via DIRECTSHOW. Should you have other decoders which are capable of decoding your source video via directshow - it won't matter as long as it works. ffdshow+haali are suggested because they are free. There are a lot of users which use other (paid) decoders and it works fine, too.

I've made new test for playback with Pioneer and the 2 issues described in quote introduction.

With new option of POP menu for 720p / SD definition :
With Pioneer, the Pop dis displayed but totally disformed.
No text and button can view correctly.
I think that Pioneer player can display POP menu only for 1080p not compatible with lower definition.

For the 2sd point, the isssue is the same, on the second chapter page the links repeat the chapter links of the 1st page.
Ex : Chapter 22 on 2sd page display the according thumbnail but the link after clik on it is the 10th chapter entrie.

For the pop menu is not a big problem if not solution is avialable for Pioneer (this issue is only for 720p or less resolution).
But for CHAPTER links is more serious, actually only the 12th first chapter are correctly avialable.
The second page chapter is not works for Pioneer player.

On Sony, all works fine.

Edit : I've install the new version this udapted version provided today and the ini file is corrected is 7 on the line 58.
With this settings, the Sony player display menu page more quickly than before (just 2 sec into 2 menus).
It's very better. :)

I didn't say I fixed the pioneer problem, so I'll take a look at it one of the next days. Although - I can't understand the behavior - normal chapter links should point to the right chapter marks.

I removed ffdshow and haali from the computer that wasn't displaying the thumbnails, and now all is working. If I drag a .m2ts file into graphstudio, the MainConcept filters are used. Adobe Premiere is installed on that computer which, I think, uses MainConcept.

The last update has the 'custom menu' option available, but not functioning, yet. Yet, you can see what options will be available to customize per title.

It is friday night :) and I'm not let to finish it, so may be tomorrow.

Still there are few fixes for PICTURE SLIDE-SHOW and some other minor changes:

* Footer font and size will not affect [x] Show build and date option
* It is possible to seek in AVS avisynth imported files (slow)
* Picture slide-show will not get black 1st chapter
* Chapter generation when using playlsits with multiple m2ts files (camcoder ones) will attempt to find useful chapter thumbnail (non black/gray) in 4 steps forward and backwards from the exact chapter mark
* Speed improvement on playlist checking (instant, compared to 5-15 seconds before) when importing multiAVCHD or external playlists in fast mode [m]/[p]
* Playlist import was (still?!) limited to 1400 m2ts files. The limit is now lifted to 80000 m2ts files (average of 317 x 4GB m2ts files (1.2TB) per title, when using the max of 252 titles) - upper limit of 312 TB per compilation - ~ 12600 BD-25s / 6300 BD-50s (I think it is enough, at least for the next 4-5 years, until 4K technology becomes publicly/consumer available). Although it seems a lot, a regular HD camcoder would produce few GB / day, which means that you can fit ~ 1 year of everyday shootings in 252 titles (excluding saturdays and sundays) :)
* ... and some other things I can't recall atm

hi dean,
i created a blu ray. on two software players (win7 and vista) an on ps3 it works! - great!!! thank you. 4 times the same truehd backround sound, but shit happens :D
if you release the custom menu, can you add a button for another m2ts file? i mean, if i scroll trough the main menu of my videos i want to select beside the setup menu, the chapter list and the play button a "custom name" button of each video, which plays like the "play" button a video stream. but that stream i want to select in the "menu button" tab, like the user defined background sound or the background video. for example a "watch trailer" button with a self made movie trailer or a "making of" with a self made making of clip.
oh my god, my english is terrible, sorry. do you know what i mean?

deank
20th February 2010, 14:02
I understand, but it can't happen. Adding a button to play 'some m2ts' is not that easy as it sounds. It requires creation of additional playlist and there is no space at the moment.

You can make it actually :
Import the video as you want and in prorieties windows check :
- Play in first option
- Hidde this tilte
and choose for this video title "go to menu display" for the end action.

Result :
At launch of Disc, the intoduction video is played and at the end , the player go to the menu.

Okay... I thought it will be easier but... You can now create custom menu settings for each title. The only limitation is that either all titles must have SETUP pages or not at all.

You can LOAD and SAVE templates. Templates are saved in your multiAVCHD's install folder as:

[D:\multiAVCHD]\templates\menu\[template_name]

Each template folder should contain at least one file: multiAVCHD.mmt. If you're using custom video/audio/chapterbg/setupbg/mainbg you'll get 5 additional files.

If you want to share your menus with other people - archive the template folder for a template you created and upload it.

With this new option you can have mixed menus, for example you can set the default menu to Carousel and load 3 titles then set custom settings for title 2 and 3 as XMB and SLIDE and you'll get a compilation with 3 titles - each with different front menu page.

Let me know how it works for you. There was not much time to test it.

A quick addition, which will make life easier with custom menus... Navigation boxes are now shown in the menu preview in their color and opacity. A hint for button labels/nav-boxes: coordinates of the navigation boxes are with negative offsets related to the button labels. X = -47, Y = -30.

There were few small fixes for the templates page. Menu preview would show the changes you made without re-entering the 'template' window.

late edit: SETUP and CHAPTER preview buttons now allow you to preview these sub-menu pages. :)

Hi Dean,

thank you for your quick reply.
There were error messages, which were said to be sent to the author. I don´t know, if the program does this by it self without any further asking for permission.

So I´ll attach it here cause it said that final output may be corrupted. So when I read there was an error with the main menu I guess I won´t test with an expensive BD-R ;)

No, it doesn't send anything anywhere. You had to play the avisynth script which you see in the box and report the avisynth-error. Probably Your pC cannot decode the video in these .m2ts files via directshow. You can always use the 'static' menu without motion thumbnail.

Use Menu preview before you create a compilation. It is easier to catch a problem there.
