DVD import works great but not sure what use it really is. If someone wants to play a DVD, wouldn't they just put the DVD on? I suppose it is a quick way to get menus for selecting smaller mutiple files.
I like the preview screen.

SORRY, but with Build 600 I got a strange problem!
Yesterday I burned by mistake a 7.5GB compilation (AVCHD), made with v.591, to a DVD + R DL, which my Panasonic BD-60 refused to read.
This morning I wanted to repeat the whole thing on -R DL (with a few changes using v.600-full download), but after pressing the button "AVCHD compatible players" the attached message appeared, no matter how often I tried, also after changing settings.
Normally I erase former versions, but then found v.588 in one folder which worked instanly.
What goes wrong?
Upload multiAVCHD_pid.JPG to http://host.imageshack.us/ for example and put here the link, don't attach.
@dean, thank you for the TRP support. I made a test with the only TRP file I have and I noticed some audio delay.
enjoy,

Build 600 was probably the worst build of all in the short history of multiAVCHD.
There were like 1000 bugs.
Please update to 601.
There were so many things wrong that I can't even start to list them.

I don't know. People asked about it. And you can put 100 DVDs in one AVCHD compilation (for Playstation3 for example).

Hello,
about the "loop playback" at end of the last title saw in previous posts :
I've tested with the lastest versions :
- with avchd "no menu" and option QUIT desactivated, it's works fine.
- with avchd "with menu" and option QUIT desactivated, no "loop playback" and player return to the menu.
Can you add a option for avchd "with menu" to force loop playback at the end of last title (last title movie end->fisrt title movie start).
With this option, the return to menu will be only if "TOP menu/MEnu" button used on remote.
Another error appaer during complilation if I make AVCHD with menu, if image.jpeg existing in same folder as video/audio files.
ex : with movie.jpeg and movie.264/movie.ac3
If I removoe the jpeg file no error message, with avhd with menu, it's works fine.
And for this request, Can add this function in next build ?

Is there a way to have multiAVCHD play a video file ie: an intro video first then launch the main menu with the other titles?
Were any of the bugs in 600 related to build 591 and my post on some M2TS files in the compilation causing the PS3 to reject the BD disk as illegal while some titles play fine? As I mentioned all the titles played fine in a previous build (with the auto-update I lost that build and don't know which one it was).
Thank you.
I am getting a Multiavchd is already running message with "do you want to launch another instance" with build 601. It is also doing it after rebooting so they is no way there is more than one copy running.

Don't worry. multiAVCHD doesn't use MOV features of tsMuxeR. In fact, as many of you think how hard multiAVCHD is dependent on tsMuxeR - it is the case and it is not. multiAVCHD has a completely different approach on feeding stuff to tsMuxeR so I doubt anything will ever go wrong (unless tsmuxer stops processing files at all :) ). multiAVCHD does not rely on tsMuxeR's ability to detect input files/types but forces it to accept what's written in the .meta file - hence multiAVCHD can process a lot more files, which tsMuxeR can't (or couldn't until recently).
You have my skype - so just drop a note if you're worried about anything.
Thank you Dean .... your application is the star shining on my "HDV Authoring sky" .... and it works perfect.

Is there a way to have multiAVCHD play a video file ie: an intro video first then launch the main menu with the other titles?
There is an option in multiAVCHD to create a "Welcome screen"/"Intro".
If you don't like the generated welcome screen (after you generate your compilation) you can replace it:
BDMV\STREAM\01400.m2ts
BDMV\CLIPINF\01400.clpi
BDMV\PLAYLIST\01400.mpls (you need to change MTS reference)
These are the files you need to replace with your new welcome screen. If you don't know how to make it work - you'll need to wait for such option in some of the next builds.

I forgot to mention some of the changes in 601/601+:
* Abort current and Abort all buttons
* Imported files without chapters will get auto-generated chapters (if external chapters are not used/found):
- If duration is between 1 min and 10 mins - 4 chapter marks
- If duration is 10 to 20 mins - 8 chapter marks
- If duration is over 20 mins - 12 chapter marks
Auto-generated chapter marks are equally spaced within title duration (you'll always get 4, 8 or 12 chapters)
* Added _DVD_DEBUG.txt in exe-path + pop-up with request to sent .txt to me when DVD import fails
* HDAVCTN folder is preserved even if you decide not to create a menu, but used a source, which had thumbnails already generated
* multiCHAP.txt has the correct number of lines with chapters
* If a title (file/playlist) processing fails - it won't be included in the final compilation and menu/title names will not be misplaced as in all previous builds
* [view] button in media tab and [preview] in [edit]-pop-up will show correct preview in 95% of the cases. Sometimes preview won't show correct frame-extraction-times and sometimes it won't show preview at all.
* Messages in log-tab are changed and easier to read (added "Title added: xxxx" log message on sucessfull title addition)
* DVR TRP import now supports both H.264 and MPEG-2 encoded recordings. Still there may be audio sync problems with MPEG (MP2) audio.
* [x] Quit on last title finish option in Author tab is removed and replaced with:
Action after last title: [Go to stand-by mode] [Display menu] [Loop playback]
--- [Go to stand-by mode] will STOP playback after last title
--- [Display menu] will work as [Go to stand-by mode] if no menu is generated, otherwise top menu will be shown (default)
--- [Loop playback] will initiate playback of title #1 once last title finishes (infinite loop)

Open the mpl/mpls file with a hex editor and change your original M2TS reference to 01400.M2TS
You'll see 00001M2TS or 00000M2TS in the HEX view... change it to 01400M2TS.

These updates are really superb - thank you for all your hard work. I may have to re-donate at this rate!
Couple of questions, what does the thumbnail number do? I assume poster image isn't work yet? And I assume to import multiple DVDs, I'd need to rip them all to my HDD first?
Also, any plans to allow the import of more SD material such as xvids? I know its not really the point of the software but it world be nice for building compilations.
Oh, and can multiple audio tracks be added?
Anyway, thanks again - great work!

Yeah... 'just a front end'... what do I know.
I have donated a very small a amount of Euro as to show my respect for this great program after 1 week of testing on it. multiAVCHD is similar to some front-ends like Gordian Knot. But the compiling flow is very smooth and more user friendly. I think it is more like AutoGK. Indeed, Dean has made use of a lot of free-wares and integrating them into a great program. It is not simply a front-end (GUI). I am specially grateful to his work because it has many special features no other BD authoring softwares offer in the commerical world. I could not buy something like this with money! For me, I hardly follows what is happening if I do not visit the thread within a few days because the program evolves very very fast. Some glitches are inevitable and many new features are not shown in the tutorial page. As a user, I myself have no programming knowledge and tend to ask a lot of questions. Fortunately, when users posted their problems and suggestions, Dean K. "almost aways" replied with solutions and took the suggestion with positive moves.
Thank you Deank!

Thumbnail field was/is used to put a frame number, for a frame to be used as thumbnail in XMB and Thumbnail menus (instead of auto selected one)
Yes, you need to rip the DVDs to your HDD - otherwise it will take forever to convert them.
No, there is no way to support XviD or DivX videos (unless they have h264 video). SD videos are supported in multiAVCHD - just have to be in a supported format.
You can add multiple tracks to an imported file by placing all audio files in the folder of your imported movie: ie movie.mkv movie.ac3 movie.dts movie.2.ac3....

If the video is XviD/DivX and audio is AC3/DTS/PCM you can use uncropMKV to make a compliant MKV (which can be accepted by multiAVCHD). It has to be reencoded - there is no other option.

I'm trying to convert a .ts file to a BD structure (I've also tried AVCHD output)... In both cases none of the subtitle streams from the original .ts file seem be to included.
I can demux the subtitles from the original .ts file using projectx - and get them out as .sup files
Is there something I have misunderstood regarding subtitle support in the program - or maybe I'm just doing it incorrectly ?

If you have your subtitles exported as BD sup file (not Vobsub) and your movie is "movie.ts", place your subtitles in the same folder and name them "movie.sup".
Check [x] Add external SRT/SUP subtitles in Audio/Subtitles tab.
If you do not succeed - send me a sample so I can look at it.

You cannot play AVCHD/Blu-ray structures with regular players and subtitles will never show if you're playing the files, but not the whole structure.
You need either burn it to a disc, play it in Playstation 3 or use Blu-ray software player like Nero Showtime or PDVD or Total Media Theater.
I think his subtitles are "teletext" format. Uploading a sample will help you more.

I was thinking of some kind of 'Save project' option. I'll have to think about it again and will post with results :)
It is a bit tricky, because if you change something in the input files/folders (those listed in Media tab) after you've saved the project some problems may arise.

Another suggestion for the menu pages, if avialable : a option to insert audio track (for bakground audio in menu) like as you add for welcome sreen.
I saw that you have take of the "pop menu" futur plan, is defenitively out (for technical issu or limitation of AVCHD) ?

I posted about 10 times about background audio for the menu. If it was possible, I would've added it months ago. When I find a way - I will add such option.
I removed 'pop-up menu' option as I removed "Panasonic SDHC" option some time ago, because there was no space in the GUI (especially for an option not working). Once I implement it - it will appear again.

The only Software I know (after trying almost everything available) which can do all the things we want is Show Time from NERO 9 (with Blu-Ray Video Plugin).
If you load the whole structure (Folder) it will play also the chosen subtitle.
If you load e.g. a single m2TS file you need a subtitle file like *.srt (same name as video) and subtitle instantly is shown.
Other:
1.) Power DVD 8 only shows subtiles from a disc and lacks of the possibility to open folders.
2.) VLC Player (0.9.9) can open folders and plays everything you want, but also needs the seperate subtitle file.
3.) Media Player Classic also plays everything from HDD, but you never see any subtitle, even if it can be chosen (by klick in the window/"Navigate") and is obviously existing.
Example: I muxed a DVD folder together with the before extracted subtitle (with Subrip) to m2TS. Loaded in MPC you can choose the subtitle, but it is not visible.
The best thing to get real proof of your subtitles without extra expense is actually (like Dean said) to burn the project on a rewritabel disc and use VLC or MPClassic if you donīt have Nero.
