Then I'll need a short sample (5-10-60 seconds). If you can upload it somewhere (like rapidshare.com) and send me the link...

Hi Dean,
With the new release I have problem with creating menu background. I get this error :
Creating menu backgrounds for 1 titles (CAR)...
Trying to use Directshow first...
Directshow spliter/decoder failed! (TBG)
I am using the cccp codec pack. Never had a problem with build 580. I never updated because the old build worked fine for me,
but now I had to update because the old build was expired so I can't launch the program.
Can you tell me more to fix the error?

I'm sorry but builds expire for a reason.
I can't help you with build, which is 100 builds behind.
There were a lot of changes in version 3.0 and I can't tell you what to do.
There is a dedicated forum for multiAVCHD problems, so you can visit it.

It plays fine but the background image of some titles are broken on the XMB..

multiAVHCD works better with
1) a clean codec floor
2) +ffdshow
3) +haali media splitter
4) + avisynth
I'm using ONLY these 3 application (ffdshow+haali+avisynth) and never had troubles.
Of course it is possible that there is a problem generating title background but you can easily change that in "title properties" and select one of these three:
1) Poster frame (seconds)
2) Poster image (external JPG file)
3) Chapter mark for title background (using link feature)

You can now choose from multiAVCHD's suggestions for bitrate for over 16 output media formats or free bitrate setting, properly suggested according to your uncrop/re-encoding resolution.
Of course, bitrate estimation works for any number of audio-tracks/formats and is not restricted as in other applications. DTS-MA/HRA/TrueHD may need more tweaks if found in MKV files, but I'll do proper calculations for it too.
Dean
p.s. DTS MA/HRA and Dolby TrueHD are taken into account, too. Also external/internal subtitles are affecting the calculation (as it should be).

Dean will the build 660 expire too if I dont use the update for a while? I dont want to update if a build works fine for me,
because a while ago I lost data of more than 500gb with a new build. Maby a final version soon?
deank
30th June 2009, 21:36
Yes, it will expire. All builds expire randomly in a month or two.
1st stable for NH's summer-autumn may be 666 (after 6 months of development).
All builds expire - but you can always change your PC date (backwards) if you want to keep an older one (and deny multiAVCHD access to update info/internet). If you do that - any problems/bugs you find will be ignored if reported as no support will be available.
Users' feedback and bugreports brought multiAVCHD to its current state/functionality, so if one decides to keep things to himself and use what works for them - that's ok.
You can safely update to 660+ and there is no way this 'folder/file deletion' issue to come up again. The problem with the "_TEMP" folder was resolved in build 643 and it can't repeat. And it was caused by user neglecting the settings he is offered, so I had to make it more foolproof.
If I find that the support for the development is enough to cover my support-costs I may make it unexpirable, but ATM it is not the case. It is free as it is... or "AS-IS"...

Hi Deank! so many time without posting in here, the reason of my post is to report a little bug in the program (Build 664, Vista64Ultimate).
The problems is: in the final compilation the audio ID and the subtitle ID is missing (displays uknown and others), but in the log and the uncrop window the track displays the correct ID's.
I think this is due because I used a flac audio track, obviously this bug is not very important but is easy to correct (I suppose)
The log file of the compilation is attached.
Sorry for the bad english:)

Before starting the compilation you can open "Title properties" and set proper language IDs. I'll have to wait for your log-attachment to be approved, but if there is something that I can fix - I'll do it.

How could I miss that option in tsMuxer!! All this while I have been selecting the Blue-ray disk option in tsMuxer and then processing with AVCHDmanager which never worked on my ps3:o
Not to hijack this thread but to seek clarification at the instance, If I am not mistaken 'multiAVCHD' is loading BYDEFAULT all sup/pgs, ssa/ass, srt files from the folder with the same name as the video file selected. I believe this shouldn't be the case and it should be optional to add the needed subtitle files.
Yes, it is loading these files, but you can remove them or add more in "Title properties".

Dean
Okay, I forgot what tool can I use to create this clip? Tried loading this file into tsMuxerGUI and it rejects the audio track.
Also, I think the problem may be with subtitles added to the audio track, how do I remove the subtitles and what tool?
UPDATE:
So I ran the file thru mkv2vob and it said repairing and then muxing and created a m2ts file. The m2ts then opened fine in tsRemuxer. So I added it to multiAVCHD and it processed just fine.
UPDATE2:
Followed same process for 2 more files, but these failed. Can't use multiAVCHD to create clip since it aborts on the file and says skipping to next.
UPDATE3:
Solution to remaining files:
Its the AC3 track that isn't recognized. Headers on the audio track must just be damaged.
To fix use mkvmerge and gut a couple of seconds from the beginning of the film and that should do the trick.
mkvmerge steps:
global tab, enable splitting checked, use these timecodes:
5s,10s
set max number of files to 2
then click start
It will produce 2 files, the second one is the one you want and it will now load successful in tsMuxer and process by multiAVCHD

But what I miss is the option of muxing an external audio track to the main menu.
Or is there a hack?

Im looking to use custom motion video for my background/menu and also for welcome screen if possible.. i theory could we not just leave space for it and produce them and replace files and keep same names ? if not what do you suggest i try. Is there a problem reading Video in this instance because its not customarily done in AVCHD mode ? Any light that can be shed i appreciate it, love the work done thus far, at one stage i doubted this would ever work on PS3 off piece of DVD media, i am glad i was total wrong about that. I just tried to add some M2TS hd movieclip files each containing one 5.1 pcm audio track. I created a BD disc containing exactly these files flawlessly some weeks ago, but now I get an error "mpeg audio not supported" and MultiAVCHD wants to convert it to AC3. Did something change in the newer versions, are PCM tracks no longer supported ?
Thanks for Your help !

PCM/LPCM is fixed. Just update with multiUPDATE.exe
All of my programs are created with CalcIT (http://www.calcitapp.com/) which is a pseudo programming language, compiled with Borland Delphi. I have no idea why they are flagged as Delphi.Gen, but I guess it is because of their HTTP activity (to get update information and exe/dat version numbers).
About motion menu/audio bgm - it is not possible at this time. You can't simply replace files and 'make room' for bigger menu files.

Hi Dean and thanks for this AWESOME tool!
I have a couple of questions if you can find the time to answer them.
1) I understand if you are not supporting win7 yet but just a quick question. After the last update I am getting a window open on launch asking me for ea3to.exe ????
2) this is just for personal taste when editing the menus, is there a way to add fonts into the list available, I have noticed that none of my extra fonts are listed and therfore must be program dependable.
This would be really cool as I have the matrix trilogy to put on a disk and have the authentic Matrix Font.
Thanks in advance and keep up the good work

After strad's suggestion, you can now 'move' chapter thumbnails in XMB menu by setting an "offset" in Menu TAB:
http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/xmbTO.jpg
Also a combination of switches and custom background will let you create menus like drelin (http://multiforum.deanbg.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=207)'s (mandatory switches in red):
Author tab:
[x] XMB menu
[-] Show build and date in footer (unchecked)
Menu tab:
[-] Create chapter thumbnails (unchecked) (or you can leave it checked if you need chapters and set vertical offset if needed)
[-] Grayscale title backgrounds (unchecked)
[x] No title thumbnails for XMB (checked)
* Transparency: 100% (move the slider to the far right)
* Remove Headline, Footer and Smart message texts.
Title properties:
* Set your special background as POSTER image for each title
...then you can create semi-custom-looking menu for any number of titles. :)

You can now load HD-DVD .evo files or drag HVDVD_TS folder to multiAVCHD and it will load its .evo contents.

I like to leave a DVD in the drive and have it convert to AVCHD overnight. The problem is that if there is a java error with subtitles the program stops, waiting for a user input.
Can you please put an option so that the program will continue anyway and not hang waiting for a response?
Here is the log:
[22:47:13] *** Subtitles: 720x480 29.970 ID#1 (eng)...
[22:47:13] *** Extracting subtitles ID#1 (mencoder)...

Can we please move on to version 667? Enough of this 666 stuff!

A DVD is converted to AVCHD in minutes if copied to your HDD - no need for overnight torturing your DVD drive.
No, I can't make the java error go away.
Users complained about too many build changes and new numbers.... Now complain that builds are numbered less often.
Yes, 667 will be out in few minutes including HD-DVD output with uncrop/reencode option.

Of course you can! From what I have seen there is virtually nothing you can't accomplish with your superb programming skills.
BTW, I get the same java errors ALL THE TIME when I have copied the dvd to hard drive and run MULTiAVchd from the hard drive.
It just means having to babysit the program until it gets passed the subtitles stage, and I have better things to do.
