Yes, it is not bitrate problem. There is something else and I've never seen such behavior as with your sample+menu.
I'll test tomorrow with the same sample.
After all, multiAVCHD was not supposed to be a coversion tool :)
I never would expect multiAVCHD to become an encoder tool.
I love the fact, that it let´s me author my original HDV footage. I also can author h.264 1080p footage: perfect. That it let´s me author my heroes and lost mkv´s is just a bonus for me.
For me it doesn´t matter if it processes AppleTV file as those mp4 are playable and streamable perfectly on PS3 without any AVCHD strucuture.:p

Another test with the appletv sample - if I use NTSC menu - it works. The sound is almost okay. :)

NTSC ... that´s it ... the primary source was in fact NTSC ....:)
The sound from original file was already choppy.
This evening I will keep on doing tests with those 720p30 and 720p60 files from Aiptek Cam ... this time of course with NTSC option in multiAVCHD.

In build 510:
Non-HD audio to AC3 bitrate [384]
option in Audio / Subtitles tab.
The value will be used for all non-hd (ie for all except TrueHD/DTS-MA/HRA) audio conversions - AAC, OGG/VORBIS, MP2, MP3, PCM.
Also uncropMKV and multiUPDATE are updated :)

Hi deank,
just did a fresh install of Build 510. When I tried to process a MKV into a BD structure, multiAVCHD gave me a red error line in its log window:
"tsmuxer didn't like MKV file. Aborting..."
Strangely enough, I didn't receive any error from tsmuxer when I used tsmuxer GUI... everything completed ok!
What's wrong here...?
Best,
Gero

Can you post your log, along with the version of tsmuxer you used? Also you can post mediainfo for your mkv file. What type is the audio in the mkv?
Make sure you use 'verbose logging' in multiAVCHD if you're going to post your log.

Hi deank,
it gets even stranger... when I turn on "Verbose logging", I receive the following error message box (also see attachment):
"(RT) floating point division by zero - Line 5784"
I verified it - this error message does not appear if I switch off "Verbose logging". Then, the red error line about tsmuxer that does not like my MKV appears (like I stated in my last post).
The log is even shorter if "verbose logging" is turned on. Here's the error log with "verbose logging" turned off:
[18:18:30] Log started for multiAVCHD v2.5 (build 510)
[18:18:30] Processing 1 input file/folder.
[18:18:30] Converting mkv/mp4 file to AVCHD (C:\Users\Gero\Desktop\mada2neuer.mkv).
[18:18:32] Using original chapters.
[18:18:32] Creating BluRay folders (tsMuxer)...
[18:18:32] Done!
The tsmuxer (GUI) version that I used (that completes without any error) is 1.9.1
Maybe this all has something to do with the fact that the MKV has chapters? I have checked "Keep original chapters" within multiAVCHD...
Anyway, here's the MediaInfo of my MKV. One AVC video track, two AC3 tracks plus a SRT track. Pretty much standard, I'd say...

Line 5784 in multiAVCHD is
print("["&time.DS&"] ", vcs('Detected frame reference count: '&refcount&' (max:'&int(12288*1024/(vw*vh*1.5))&').',clGreen,''));
Which means that vw (video width) or vh (video height) are not detected properly (and are set to zero) by mediainfo so it errors with div/0.
In multiAVCHD package is included tsmuxer 1.8.34. Replace it with the newest one and if it works let me know... I doubt that it will but... anyway...
I don't think chapters are the problem but if there is any way to send me a sample of the file - please do.

I just found out about this great tool.
Ofcause I already knew about AVCHD, but never got to use it, because it only can hold 1 movie per media.
I have a few questions to the multiAVCHD tool:
1) Why is the limit set to “only” 40 titles?
2) Is it possible, or will it be a possibility to add DVD’s
I have a very large collection of DVD’s – it would be nice to have an external HDD with movie-only titles :-)

Not a problem at all. I could split off a part using mkvmerge. Which size and part (beginning? end? something from the middle?) would you prefer and how do you want me to send it to you?
Let me know!

Just any segment... before you send it - try and see if you get the error... If not - find a segment that will error and send it to me.
@tkamp: only fourty?! I just decided so... it is a free tool so I decide how many titles will be available, right? And in 90% of the cases 40 is more that enough.
For DVD -> AVCHD you'll need to do some research. multiAVCHD doesn't deal with other formats.

+40 support would be very helpful for creating discs with a HUGE number of titles that are better left unjoined - which is a current issue of mine.

I wasn't trying to be rude or anything.
It's just that it would be nice to have the external hdd filled out with videos, and not going back and forth to the PC for changing avchd.

It's the chapters. I'll see to it, but try to enable (x) Add chapters each 5 min.
in muxer tab. It works that way.
I think the first chapter is the problem (00:00:00 - 00:00:00), but I'll test it later.

Yes it works now both with chapters and without them.
Please do this: when tsmuxer gives the error message box - do not close it - go to _TEMP and open the .meta file and paste its contents.
The problem was that --custom-chapters= was blank. Of course there may be something else that causes the error, but at least the sample works here.

Please do this: when tsmuxer gives the error message box - do not close it - go to _TEMP and open the .meta file and paste its contents.
There is no *.meta file in the _TEMP folder! The only two items that are created in _TEMP are
- a file named "mada2neuer-mkv__info.txt"
- an empty folder named "20090409-095305-6865"
When I press "create multiBD", the tsmuxer window opens and closes again immediately - so fast that I cannot read the output...

That is really weird. In fact, I installed the latest version of MKVtoolnix (2.6.0) in German yesterday. mkvinfo belongs to this tool set, I think.
But multiAVCHD is using it's "own" mkvinfo.exe in it's own "tools" folder, right? So how can it interfer with the MKVtoolnix set that is installed somewhere else?
I will do some research on the web and report back here. Obviously, my errors are connected with the installation of the german version of MKVtoolnix - even if I do not understand how this is possible.
Thanks for all your help, Dean! Please let me know if you should have any more ideas about this all.
Best,
Gero

the toolnix package sets a variable in windows environment - something like LANG, LC_MESSAGES and LC_ALL, so they affect all tools, no matter where they're placed in your PC. mkvinfo is affected by these variables.

You're right. I just found this over at the MKVtoolnix thread:
ChangeLog since release 2.5.3:
2009-03-14 Moritz Bunkus <moritz@bunkus.org>
* all: bug fix: The tools use the API call "GetOEMCP()" on Windows instead of "GetACP()". This should make messages output in cmd.exe come out correctly for Windows versions for which cmd.exe uses a different code page than the rest (e.g. on German Windows).
I noticed that in fact, the mkvinfo.exe that you provide in the "tools" folder is version 2.5.3. - so the text above is valid for it!
So what can we do about this? Would this mean that I have to use an older version of mkvinfo.exe that doesn't use that API that is described above?
This would be a problem that all non-english users will have, right?

Gero

Or you can use the english version of the latest mkvtoolnix :) I'm sorry but at this point I can't do much.

Hi deank,
ok, I solved this problem by simply deleting the German language folder within the mkvtoolnix installation folder. That solved my problem.
BUT here's another one!
I keep getting errors when multiAVCHD tries to create the welcome screen! Creating the menu seems to run fine though.
When I play the output, it works - but of course, the welcome screen is missing.
Could this be a similar issue? Here's the log:

The problem is with the new version of tsmuxer. I get the same error and other menu-types got broken.
***
Done. It is the new 1.9.x version of tsmuxer that handles differently m2ts/clpi filenames. I urge all to download the complete setup or replace their tsmuxer in tools with latest version - otherwise classic menu, thumbnail menu and welcome screen may not be created properly.
Also in 512 welcome screen uses user-defined image from menu tab (if [x] show in intro is checked).
***
Also because of the changes in tsmuxer - popBD is also updated to version 0.5.

Hi deank,
just a big thank you - finally, everything is working again as desired! Chapters are also kept properly now, great!
I have a new feature request - do you think it's possible to include a function for editing the language tags of the input file streams (audio and subs)?
That would be awesome!!
All the best,
Gero

Hi Dean,
in xmb with chapter thumbs off I see a title count (i.e. title 1/1). Is this new? I never recognized that. Can I turn this off?

I thought it is good to know 'where you are' when scrolling thru multiple titles, so I turned it on few builds ago. There is a multiLANG.ini in your multiAVCHD folder. Open it and edit the line that says "Title". You can put "#" as a first symbol or replace "Title" with spaces. And execute multiUPDATE. :)

How long has multiAVCHD been using 100 headers in clpi/mpls files?

Since day one :)

Ok that may give a big start to testing of latest tsmuxer's avchd output, but 100 pages to look through to find players that are working, what a task.

Well.. I don't remember anyone to say that multiAVCHD's output doesn't work in their SAPs (since build 313+).

I'm going to wait and see if tsmuxer just renamed --blu-ray to --avchd and changed clpi/mpls headers to 100 (up till 1.8.35 they were 200) before trusting the new version.
But do you remember some players mentioned in this thread offhand?
deank

I remember these:
NTSC SONY BlueRay Player 350, PAL Sony BDP S350, NTSC Panasonic BD30 SAP.
Also: Samsung bd-p1500, Pioneer 51fd Blu-ray player with AUXDATA folder removed.
About tsmuxer - yes, I think --avchd switch does what --blu-ray did before (except the 0200 or mixed headers).
multiAVCHD always changed headers to 0100 and never used tsmuxer's index/movieobject.bdmv.
What makes SAPs detect a compilation as AVCHD or Blu-ray is the index.bdmv file and the media used (DVD/BD/USB) - nothing else - not the headers either.

It's funny that they'd entirely change --blu-ray function of tsmuxer after over 2 years but I guess it might be more accurately named now as --avchd.
When I did some in store testing with tsmuxer blu-ray output on a dvd-rw 9 months or so ago I noticed some read AVCHD, some read BD, some read BDMV and some read blu-ray. I wonder if the clpi/m2ts headers played any role in that or if it was just nature of the SAP.
Thanks for the players I jotted them down.

Up until latest versions, tsmuxer's index.bdmv had IDEX. Now it's gone when --blu-ray is used. Apart from this I see no difference.
And - yes - different saps show different things... Not really sure how they decide if avchd or bd will be shown on their display. I'd suggest that if DVD-R/DVD-RW is detected they tend to show AVCHD. If it is a DVD-ROM (retail BD5/BD9) - they may show BD. With BD-RE/BD-R - they show Blu-Ray Disc.
I should check if one of my DVD-burners can be configured by imgburn to use DVD-ROM booktype and see if it will make any difference.
I'd suggest if anyone has such burner - to try with DVD-ROM booktype and two different outputs with --avchd / --blu-ray switches of tsmuxer.
