I also have the same problem with this type of file generated by these cameras ...
And the problem is actually the audio extraction.

Did you test the 64bit version, because few users complained about it. I don't know if it is okay, because I don't have a 64bit system.

Already renamed, the error continues.
These small cameras that record in hd usually generate this audio.

I use an unpatched version of x264 64bit on my home pc loaded with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. The only difference is the long nal hrd start code support patch. I have no clue if this is causing the error. Have the people who are having problems reported them to the devs?

Usually multiAVCHD will extract the SSA/ASS subtitles and then convert them to SRT and will mux in the final AVCHD as PGS.

Thank you! I will try this.

Two things worth mentioning:

* With the extensive help from strad who is burning like 20 DVDs a day to help me with the compatibility issues between ver 4.0 and Panasonic/Samsung players - we've got to a point where the new menus will at least SHOW and won't make the player reject the disc. I'll update you when there is news about that and the [AVCHD strict] button will be gone :). (hopefully very soon)

It seems that the latest firmware updates for Samsung fixed the issues with multiAVCHD. Now we wait for Panasonic (no high hopes though) :)

Changing the file extension to .mp4 still gives me the same problem.

I'm able to complete the conversion by hand if I use the ffaudiosource script that I mentioned earlier and create an external AAC track. Then I remove the internal audio track, replace it with my shiny new AAC track, and everything proceeds just fine.

Ah, okay, I can confirm that it is working with out the "LPCM to AC3".

However, I have a bug to report.

It appears that processing the same input clip a second time without closing multiAVCHD results in a complete and total mixup.

Yep.. it is a known 'problem' with the self-modifying technique used by multiAVCHD when performing title-transcoding.

Whenever you transcode a title you have to restart multiAVCHD, otherwise each transcoded title (file name) is replaced by the transcoded filename (.264) which causes subsequent attempts without restart to fail.

Roger. It really isn't that hard to just restart multiAVCHD, but I just thought I would let you know just in case.

Hi,

Could the problem with MOV movie with PCM audio be related to same problem I discovered with MPEG with PCM audio, see my post "I can't use mpeg files with PCM audio" (http://multiforum.deanbg.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=930)

I just made a quick MOV movie with H.264 and PCM audio, I dropped it onto tsMuxerGui, and it would not load the audio part, only video part.

Try to drop the problem MOV movie with PCM audio onto tsMuxerGui, and see if it accepts to load the audio track?

If tsMuxer will not accept the file, it means the file will not work inside multiAVCHD too, since multiAVCHD depends on working tsMuxer, if I understand it correct...

Just my thoughts, bye...

If multiAVCHD depended on tsMuxeR then it wouldn't be possible to import anything but mkv/*ts/m*pg...

multiAVCHD does a lot of attempts to get your audio to blu-ray/avchd compliant one.

The only thing tsmuxer is used is to create m2ts files from proper elementary (or other m2ts) files.

Try to load an avi in tsmuxer and in multiAVCHD... or a .trp or a .wmv or .avs or .mod or .ifo or .flv.

Hi again,

Could you do a test with this 5MB 4 second test mpeg with pcm audio (http://www.sendspace.com/file/nse0f3), just to confirm if that file works or not with multiAVCHD?

I can not manage to get it to work in multiAVCHD. When I drop the mpeg onto multiAVCHD, it identify it correct and with PCM audio track.

Disable "convert PCM to AC3" makes multiAVCHD creates a project without log-errors, but no audio in finished output.

Enable "convert PCM to AC3" makes many log-errors during creation of project when it tries to convert the audio track to AC3.

As far I can understand, the mpeg file I have confirms to DVD-video standard... Loading the mpeg file in Graphstudio and Windows Media Player shows my system decodes and can play the video correct... I'm just puzzled what's going on...

Bye,
Dolsen

My nicaudio fails and falls down to mencoder.. and yes, the output has a nice audio track :)

I'll try to take a look into it next days (i'll be out of the city for few days). Probably it is possible to optimize the FAILURES somehow.

Audio track is linked to all those matrix shots you used to demo multiAVCHD :)

I can help testing the optimize when you want it tested from a user, since I had this problem issue.

Your post about putting files back into the Panasonic HDC-TM700 camera got me to wondering if that's already possible with Sony camcorders?

The Sony software that comes with my HD camera extracts the m2ts files and stores them on the PC drive. I have never archived the full file structure that's on the MemoryStick. Is it possible that multiAVCHD will re-ceate the structure on the MemoryStick so they could be played from the camcorder? Is it simply a matter of unchecking all menu, chapter, and welcome screen options and clicking the Sony Playstation 3 button?

No, you should use VIERA (NTSC) or the new 1080p60fps buttons. Give them a try. The first will mark all as 1080i and the 2nd won't alter the properties, but the output will be marked as Panasonic HDC-**700 + CPI files will be set with very specific values.

SONY Playstation3 button does different things and most of them WAY out of most players capabilities, not to say camcoders. With Panasonic SDHC and VIERA buttons (+these new buttons) you get completely different output.

Please note that the text on the right size (of VIERA buttons) says that it is for TVs and camcoders.

Okay, I got a question then.

Why does the pcm in mpeg have several stages of failure, while my .mov sample only fails on eac3to and then tries to mux the original? Shouldn't it run through the multiple audio encoding attempts too?

Works here... after audio is processed by mencoder... You're right that without processing LPCM is added but not present/audible in the final compilation... It is to do with tsmuxer I guess.

My nicaudio fails and falls down to mencoder.. and yes, the output has a nice audio track :)

I'll try to take a look into it next days (i'll be out of the city for few days). Probably it is possible to optimize the FAILURES somehow.

This is what I was talking about when I said multiAVCHD depended on a working tsMuxer, I should been more detailed when I wrote about the depending issue. I have sent an email to tsMuxer team about the problem with mpeg w/PCM audio to inform what I have stumbled upon.

Since AVCHD specs supports PCM audio, I hope to be able to use the PCM audio track from my mpegs, and not have to be "forced" to convert audio to AC3. Right now I have to demux the audio track, and add external audio track in multiAVCHD when dealing with mpeg w/PCM audio when I don't want to encode to AC3.

I have tried many tools to demux the test mpeg into video and audio stream, and so far I have not found a free tool that demux the audio track, which I find strange since the test mpeg file should be of a correct mpeg structure.

At least my commercial software "Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0" and "Pegasys TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 3" does allow working correctly with my mpeg w/PCM so I can manage to extract the audio track as WAVE file.

Hope multiAVCHD someday will work with this video&audio format, without have to encode to AC3. If tsMuxer don't get a "fix", perhaps there is a tool out there you could incorporate in your tools folder to make it work :)

Dolsen

There are some changes in the output mode selection for Viera TVs and camcoders. It is now possible to force multiAVCHD to use maker/model specific information when creating the AVCHD structure. It should make it easier for camcoder users.

http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/multiAVCHD_output_dd.jpg

The drop-down list with maker/models is to be used only when producing output for a camcoder (not to be used for Viera output).

It is always better to leave it to the default [Let multiAVCHD decide], but if it doesn't work for you - use Panasonic General AVCHD or one of the other options.

If anyone wants his Camcoder added in the list, send me a PM or email with the model + one file from your camcoder AVCHD created structure (VPL/MPL/CPI/BDM).

That's because processing takes completely different routes with mov/*ts/mkv...

MOV support was basically added for HDV3 (MPEG2) camcoders with PCM audio and as far as I know it works perfectly fine for these users.

The container/formats I hate most are MOV, MP4, AAC, MP2. The best way is to use compliant formats/containers with multiAVCHD. It tries a lot of things but it can't do miracles and cover everything.

I see.

According to the user who approached me, the .mov files were produced from a Canon EOS 5dmk2, which as he puts it "is a £1600 digital SLR camera who's primary role is as a stills camera, but they are taking the indie film world by storm right now......". Apparently, the final episode of this season's "House" tv show was shot entirely with these things. Ah, and here is a link (http://www.petapixel.com/2010/04/09/house-season-finale-filmed-entirely-with-canon-5d-mark-ii/) to the main story. I'll be darned. He wasn't joking.

Anyways, my point is, could we find a way to add proper encoding support for these .mov files (ex. lpcm to ac3)? The user claims that he "got it to work somehow", but know he is re-tracing his steps and is finding that it is not working. He thinks it is because of an eac3to upgrade (which I said was highly improbable, but not outside the realm of possibility).

One fix that I have found is to use FFAudioSource as a "Failure" fallback. Seemed to work just fine with this source, in it's original .mov container.

Just to let you know that your delightfully easy to use "downconvert to DVD" sub-program appears to have an aversion for "HD-DVD compliant" .M2TS files...

Well, the quality is really good with SD-DVD and I guess HD-DVD route doesn't really pay for the troubles. :) (that is if I correctly understood your post)

that is if I correctly understood your postNo, you misunderstood.

If I attempt to use the concert to DVD aspect with an .M2TS file recognized by multiAVCHD as "HD-DVD compliant", it will go through the entire processing routine and generate only empty DVD-related folders and sub-folders.

If I trim off the first one second of the original .M2TS file, it is no longer recognized as "HD-DVD compliant" - and the downconversion to DVD is performed flawlessly ;>}

The box is (HD)DVD... You mark it if you're importing 1920x1080@23.976 for HD-DVD title or when you're importing 720x480@23.976/29.970 / 720x576@25fps for SD-DVD processing. You can't import 1920x1080 video and mark it as 'compliant' for SD-DVD title.

Yes, I know which box to select and why I should select it - but once again, you misunderstand:

I'm using an .M2TS file (from a BD-RB-created BluRay) that I previously created as "HD Compliant" as my "original" source material for downconverting to DVD.

Regardless, as I mentioned in my previous post, it was easy enough for me to deal with.

I'm just trying to share information with you, in the event that this anomaly requires a modification of multiAVCHD ;>}

No fair - Either Russian or English (maybe French or Spanish) only, please ;>}

This is the Google translation:Can you answer 100 the way as you do it curled with a hundred sentences, but the idea is to understand in a more normal way

I guess you're saying my questions and/or statements are unclear to you. So, let me try another way:

1) I have an old .M2TS, made in June 2009, among my files. It was originally created using BD-RB set to "HD-DVD compatible" so that, in June 2009, I could feed it to multiAVCHD and create an HD-DVD.

2) Now, in April 2010, I tried using that very same .M2TS with multiAVCHD to create a standard DVD. I load this old .M2TS into MultiAVCHD, go through the required steps including transcoding and selecting "DVD" - so that the previews all show "720x480". I then click my way back to the "Media" and "Log" pages and click on "Start", then "DVD", etc.

3) MultiAVCHD very quickly processes the file and generates a "job completed" notice.

4) In fact, all that MultiAVCHD created was a few empty DVD folders (VIDEO_TS, etc.)

5) If I cut off one second from the beginnning of this 2009 .M2TS and duplicate these procedures exactly, I get a delightful standard DVD "package".

I offered you my solution for using already "HD-DVD-compatible" .M2TS files as source material for conversion to standard DVD (Cut off the first second from the file and it will no longer register as "HD-DVD compatible" - and will then be properly processed.)

I suppose there's some significance to the changes you made to your "quote" of me, but I won't ask.

As my Mafia buddies used to say in Brooklyn, "Fawgeddaboudit" ;>}

I'll let you get back to more pressing matters. до свидания...

Hi!

I've already done a line-by-line comparison, so there's no point in doing that. Re-read any of the pertinent posts -MultiAVCHD generates the same log as it does for a REAL perfect conversion to DVD (Except, of course, the "false good conversion" includes a line that says, File is encoded with HD-DVD compatible H.264 settings: and Title is already (HD)DVD compliant! and in the "Summary" Output size : 0 MiB (0 GiB))

It makes more sense when I thought about it this morning.

multiAVCHD uses one flag - both for SD-DVD and HD-DVD and you can alter it in title properties [alter detected properties].

Since you're importing HD-DVD compliant file and creating SD-DVD, multiAVCHD is confused and doesn't try to re-encode the video.

What you need to do with this HD-DVD compliant .m2ts file is to untick [-] (HD)DVD compliant option. :)

You don't need to uncheck the option, because multiAVCHD will check if the file is 720x... and even if marked as compliant will reencode it if the resolution is wrong for SD-DVD.

Thanks for pointing it out to me :)

Dean

@rendez: yes, 1 title per SDDVD.

Thank you! I will try this.

Well, I tried this with a 12 part MKV set but the program produced files that will not read in my Curtis DVD1102 Blu Ray player. Says "BD ROM" then spits out the disc. I'll try again with a single part and post the log. My log file for the failed attempt is in your PMs. I'll have to try some other programs for the subtitles. There are many good ideas at this forum.

@deank You don't need to uncheck the option, because multiAVCHD will check if the file is 720x... and even if marked as compliant will reencode it if the resolution is wrong for SD-DVD.Sorry, but that did not prove to be the case.
