I have downloaded it, what needs to be converted as it looks like it can be burned straight away?

I thought your player needs long file names, not AVCHD 8.3 ones. I have no idea, but PS3 plays custom menus from DVD-RW (and the folder from this archive) when multiBD button is used and files are with long names... movieobject.bdmv but not movieobj.bdm.

I burned it anyway and it spat out the disc with a cannot play this disc message. I have now added the extra v to those files and it did the same.

Okay... I thought you know about filenames. Changing these two will not do it. I'll try to PM another archive.

Can you try to play 01401.m2ts from the output AVCHD folder when using custom menu?

multiAVCHD is one month old now :)

I have a request for some of you who use NTSC Playstation 3 and PAL/NTSC stand-alone players.

Please test if version 2.0 with custom created top menu works on your hardware.

Finally! Now I can post after waiting five long days after registration :/

Anyway, the custom menu (and text) works for like a second, with no arrow pointing to my three titles then the screen goes black, and I have a blue arrow that can be moved up or down w/ 14 slots...If I select one of the top three the file(s) will play.

I'm using the lite version, on a Sony BDP-S350 and NTSC.

EDIT

Here's two quick images for reference:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y8/skratch_master/img_2.jpg

I see that for a sec then it goes blank with only the arrow and a bunch of slots

A quick note:

I noticed a bug in tsMuxer: if SRT subtitles are used and FIRST line has START time less than 2 seconds, then subtitles don't show at all in the final compilation.

If you have a srt that starts with:

1
00:00:00,001 --> 00:00:02,453

subtitles won't show. Start value has to be at least:

1
00:00:02,001 --> 00:00:02,453

I'll add this to multiAVCHD tomorrow and it will fix it on the fly.

***

@Cerpintine: This happened in my earlier tests with the custom menu. I'm not sure if the problem will be solved, but try this:

delete _MENUSTR\01404.cNTSC and _MENUSTR\01404.cPAL files. Restart multiAVCHD and it will download them again and try again.

Thanks in advance.

Great work Deank with the custom menus although this is the first time i am having trouble

When populating menu structure comes up i get this error

Failure to move file(then the path)Line 443 , when i click ok , i get acces violation in calclib.dll -line 1584

it seems similar to Xeniste problems, i have read through the last 3 pages over and over and hope i am not missing anything and have restarted the PC

Nope, same problem :confused: One thing I noticed in the log is it encodes a second menu page--

Authoring custom titles menu (NTSC).
[19:36:35] Encoding menu page #1 (x264).
[19:36:43] Encoding menu page #2 (x264).
[19:36:48] Muxing h264 stream for menu page #1 (tsMuxer).
[19:36:49] Muxing h264 stream for menu page #2 (tsMuxer).
[19:36:49] Populating menu structure...
[19:36:49] Authoring custom menu completed.
[19:36:50] Setting menu for 3 titles...

But I'm only using/need one page Think that's it?

It's a good thing I have an entire spindle of cheap dvds as I've made so many freakin' coasters :devil:

:)

Great job man.

I'm getting kind of tired to answer such questions/remarks.

multiAVCHD is NO MAGIC TOOL. How can you possibly think of playing 976x544 movie in AVCHD?!

I stated more than 10 times already - Use AVCHD compatible input files/folders.

Making 'cropped' 1920x.... and 1280x... to work was a BONUS and I was never aiming for making multiAVCHD the "make-all-files-play".

Try using multiAVCHD with media at least 1280 or 1920 pixels wide.

I'm developing multiAVCHD for my own pleasure and for those who appreciate it, but not to get additional portions of stress. I'm spending too much time on programming it already.

Dean

Please accept my kind apologize for my portion of your stress.

i'd like to propose a small change, if its possible to add a small box near the Destination Path that whatever you rename it to will be the AVCHD folder's name.

deank
23rd January 2009, 14:49
Output folder name is always "AVCHD". If such already exists, it is renamed to AVCHD-DATETIMErandom

zoner
23rd January 2009, 14:52
yes, but why does it have to be AVCHD?
i now use your app to archive many of my backed up old stuff, and after a few, i find myself drowning in AVCD-XXXXXX folders
and i dont recall which is what. there's gotta be a better way to approach this issue. :)

deank
23rd January 2009, 15:03
Yes, I can do this.

I can also make the text entered into this box to be shown at the 'first-play' screen. (of course if x264/avisynth are present in the system).

For example:

http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/new_intro.jpg

---
edit: Custom folder name is now added in Settings. It is blanked at each start and at the end of compilation process.

deank
23rd January 2009, 17:51
Custom welcome screen is added in build 243.

If you use LITE menu or LITE/CUSTOM menu and enter "custom folder name" welcome screen will be changed (x264/avisynth required).

Also, if nothing is entered in "Custom name" but [x] Show in welcome screen is checked you will get new welcome screen with "Created: [date]" and some background audio.

Hi Dean,

first I'd like to thank you for all your work and dedication that made possible for us to enjoy such a great tool.

I'm posting to say that i'm experiencing the same issue that Cerpintine regarding the custom menu.

First I get the "presentation" stream, then for a sec, what should be the main menu stream with my 3 titles, then I get to a third stream where the screen is all black but where I can have the arrows allowing me to choose (in the dark :cool:) which title I want to play.
The first 3 arrows get me to the appropriate title (according to the order I previoulsly entered them in the media tab), and the next arrows get me back to the same sequence of streams described upper (presentation/main/second_black).
One "funny" thing I noticed is that the penultimate arrow doesnt share the same graphic style than the others (looks like it's been hand drawn).

I tried deleting the 01404 files, which led to force downloading of some files, but didn't change the behaviour.

Another thing : at the bottom right the arrow in shape of triangle is accessible and clicing it (Arcsoft TMT) gets me to the "Top Menu #2" ... for a sec, and then it gets dark too. The back triangle-arrow at the bottom right allows to get back to the previous stream (3 titles shown for a second then dark).

The input material is BD-Rip and the log file goes like that :
[23:50:59] Preparing authoring information...
[23:50:59] Creating static/lite top PAL menu.
[23:50:59] Authoring custom titles menu (PAL).
[23:50:59] Encoding menu page #1 (x264).
[23:51:05] Encoding menu page #2 (x264).
[23:51:11] Muxing h264 stream for menu page #1 (tsMuxer).
[23:51:12] Muxing h264 stream for menu page #2 (tsMuxer).
[23:51:12] Populating menu structure...
[23:51:13] Authoring custom menu completed.
[23:51:13] Setting menu for 3 titles...
[23:51:13] New offset for m2ts#1 -> 0
[23:51:13] New offset for mpls#1 -> 00000
[23:51:13] New offset for m2ts#2 -> 1
[23:51:13] New offset for mpls#2 -> 00001
[23:51:13] New offset for m2ts#3 -> 2
[23:51:13] New offset for mpls#3 -> 00002
[23:51:13] Setting titles #4 to #40 to point at top menu.
[23:51:13] Setting custom titles menu...
[23:51:13] Processing clip (CPI/CLPI) files...
[23:51:13] Completed.
[23:51:13] Done!

Thanks in advance for looking into it when you find some time (I actually have to say I can't really understand how you've managed to fix so many issues and at the same time add so many functionalities in one month .... very impressive).

I changed it to a lower value.
Thanks, but your "lower value" is always too high!

If first line starts with:

1
00:00:00,090 --> 00:00:01,200

you change it in:

1
00:00:01,295 --> 00:00:01,200

and first subtitle line won't show because end is lower than start.

In all my test 00:00:00,100 works with tsMuxeR, if you don't want set a lower value, please add option to disable subtitles fix.

deank

Thanks, but your "lower value" is always too high!

I never had this problem before... 00:00:01,xxx was fine, until I got into 2 videos yesterday and they wouldn't show subtitles if first subtitle time is less than 2 seconds.

..and "in ALL my tests" IT DIDN'T WORK! It works in 90% of the cases then the other 10% won't show subtitles AT ALL if the start value is less than 1 or 2 seconds.

I doubt it is such a big deal to miss the first line (probably "Previously on My Fave Soap Show..."). This way you have all the rest shown.

@PassthePeas: One "funny" thing I noticed is that the penultimate arrow doesnt share the same graphic style than the others (looks like it's been hand drawn).

Yes :) The arrow at the invisible title #13 is kinda hand-drawn :) It just happened that way.

Try after you get the "black" screen to chose "Go to TOP MENU" again.

I'm aware of this problem (with the black screen). It doesn't show in Playstation 3 and now (after build 248) it doesn't show in Nero too.

I can't really understand how you've managed to fix so many issues and at the same time add so many functionalities in one month .... very impressive).

I go to bed at 4:00am and wake up at 9:00am and spend most of my time playing with my multiAVCHD code... (and working at the same time).

I do not see a checkbox for "See actual Title names" on authoring tab

I installed AviSynth but I did notice that there are no EXE or DLL in its program directory, just docs. Is this just a DirectShow filter that gets registered? I open an AVS file in MPC and it does work and version AVS file shows 2.58.

Also for x264 encoder, I notice that its already in multiAVCHD folder.

Great tools :)

While using it i'm thinking if this was possible:
Use output as input to add / remove title withouth reencoding it.

This will allow to update an external USB HD easily and quickly :)

What do you think of this ?

deank
24th January 2009, 12:48
I'm thinking of it. It is not that easy to be done and it would require to store information of each compilation somewhere in the AVCHD structure. multiAVCHD already recognizes its own compilations, but keeping input title order is a bit tricky... and with the custom title menu - really hard.

Today I used this tool for the first time. I discovered the following:
1) The AVCHD disk did not work in the PS3. I had to rename all the files to "non 8.3"
2) If I use the static menu (lite) I see the menu, but can't select any movie
3) If I use the 2D animated menu, I can select movies. Although I only had 2
movies on the disc, there was a selection for more.
4) The up and down selection (on the PS3) between the titles is wired: it jumps from
1 to 3 and then I can go up to 2...
5) My movies are SDTV (720*576, 4:3). If I play them, they are strechted to 16:9, which is wrong.
If I play those M2TS files directly on my PS3 (on a Data Disk), the aspect ratio is correct: 4:3

Any hints for #5? Everything else is ok for the moment...

Thanks, vortex

deank
24th January 2009, 17:48
And I discovered you cannot read.

#1) You need to click multiBD button if you're going to write AVCHD contents to DVD.

2), 3) and 5) are discussed a lot in previous pages and in POST ONE.

I have a lot of 720x576 mpeg2 captured videos and I wonder what will happen if I try to import them in multiAVCHD.

AVCHD standard shows no mpeg2 support, but it seems that most players often treat AVCHD as BD (at least Playstation 3 does).

I will do some tests and if I have success I'll add MPEG support in multiAVCHD.

DeanK, it will be really a nice thing - I wish you'll be successful.

But what about the mpeg audio support ? I have, for examole, a lot of satellite channels in in x264 HD or SD resolution with a mpeg audio track. I have to demux them, transcode mpeg to AC3, remux and pray that there will be audio-video concordance.

I update "MAC" exe with major builds. There is a link in the first post. Just download it and replace your current exe.

The link is always the same: multiAVCHD_Mac.exe (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/multiAVCHD_Mac.exe) or Mirror (http://212.36.7.36/sub/multiAVCHD_Mac.exe)

Bookmark these two.

@xeniste: If I succeed to include MPEG2 in multiAVCHD, I will also include eac3to to reencode audio on-the-fly. I will do more tests tomorrow. I don't have HD capture card - just plain old AVER TVgo for PAL/NTSC with max resolution of 720x576@30fps.

Hi deank,

Firstly I must say, great program! Works a treat making avchd dvd's for my panasonic bd35.

As you may guess from my title I was wondering if you would be able to add sd (avchd) functionality? I noticed another member (seemoredigital) mentioned it earlier (for his TV) and wondered if you'd been able to work on anything?

I have tried making an avchd and blu-ray output from multiavchd (using compliant files, that play via multiavchd dvd on my player), placing in my sd card \private folder with no luck. Tried lots of variations and read your guide & 1st post.

The file/folder structure looks the same to seemoredigitals but I can try to send/upload a sample of a blank card and 5-10sec clip for compairson?

I'm using build 254 and the PAL full version (my player is a uk model).

I understand you must be very busy so obviously don't expect too much, but thought it would be worth asking!

Thanks again for a great piece of software! :thanks:

Quick note...

I'm glad to say that I found a way to make subtitles show below video, if resolution is not compliant (1920x1080 or 1280x720). Now it shows in the black-bar area, but not over the movie.

I'll just update multiAVCHD to handle "OFFSET" in tsMuxer "screen" related, not "movie-height" related :)

So far I did the tests directly on the PC with TMT. I decided to burn the folders to a BD-RE so I could give it a try on the Sony BDP-S350, and ... (sorry for Cerpintine) it worked just fine :D.
Playing the disc with PDVD is fine too ....
