About the 'classic' menu from version 3.0 which was removed...Here is a screenshot of the menu. If I implement it in version 4.1 as 'title-list' menu it would mean NO CHAPTER MENU and NO SETUP MENU pages.MrVideo is the member driving this, but my 2 cents: I can't tell from your screenshot:
1. Can the text be customized e.g. for a Season 4, Episode 6 I'd want:
406 - The Episode Title Whatever It Is
2. Can the text block be custom-positioned on the screen, can we change fonts/size/colors
3. I like a background audio track but would be OK without it
:)

@laserfan: Yes, of course all is customizable. Title names are set in [properties]. Font and colors are set in MENU tab. TOP/LEFT position for the 1st title-name is set in MENU tab, too. All that in version 4.1 when I add the option, not in ver <4.

Try to load one of the files with 'wrong' info and process it separately to see if player will report correct playtime.
Does multiAVCHD report proper duration in MEDIA tab or [properties]?
I went back after updating multiAVCHD dat files this morning and deleted all the previous working folders and started fresh with m2ts files straight from the original rip. This is working and leaves the files with the proper run times after the rebuild.
thanks for the help, worknstiff

Hey, sort of a slow day and a holiday at that, Happy Labor Day! Sorry if this is not a multiAVCHD prob but I think I will post here and BD_Rebuilder also, like they say 2 (BIG) heads, lol
I don't know if this is a BD_Rebuilder or a multiAVCHD prob so forgive me if it turns out to misposted...:I have used both of these programs to preprocess BD's before and have never had any errors. --I took a movie with some "short films" in it. I used multiAVCHD to snatch each of the 13 small m2ts files from the original rip to create a simple strict AVCHD with menu. After I created this BD image it came to about 11gb's and I input this into BD_Rebuilder and created a (FULL) BD-9 copy with a "WORKING" menu. I said "WORKING" because 12 of the titles work when selected from the menu. If I try to select the final 13th title it crashes the player. This does not happen on the original multiAVCHD BD, just the BD_Rebuilder copy. If I let the disk play thru from the 12th title everything is fine and it finishes playing the 13th title and then the player crashes instead of going back to the menu like it's supposed too. When I was using BD_Rebuilder as it was on the last VID_80130, I get a Haali Media Splitter error box, that says ERROR can't open file VID_80130. After I click on it to close it, BD_Rebuilder finishes normally without any mention of this in the log file? Why if the menu works after multiAVCHD creates it does haali not like the menu structure when being processed with BD_Rebuilder?

I think it has to do with the way the files being created are numbered because there is no VID_80130 since the m2ts files multiAVCHD creates start at VID_00000 and stop at VID_00012 for the 13 files. Also the VID_80130 is only 1 frame so Haali can't open it. Any solutions will be appreciated, worknstiff

Hi, Deank.
Yesterday I had a problem.
At attempt to open an edit window (Properties) of media of a file.
It doesn't open. Then I should do the following.
I open the manager of tasks, in the column Processes I complete process AVSinfo.exe (I'm close AVSinfo.exe).
And only then the window (Properties) opens...
What is it? That to me to do? Help, please!

No, it is not related to the way files are numbered. In multiAVCHD, title M2TS files are numbered from 00000.m2ts to 79999.m2ts and menu related files are numbered from 80000.m2ts to 93252.m2ts.
In your case you have 00000.m2ts to 00012.m2ts for your 13 titles and then 13 menu pages: 80010.m2ts to 80130.m2ts. For some reason BD Rebuilder tries to re-encode the menu page for title#13 and fails. It shouldn't try at all because even if it succeeds it will break the MENU navigation (IGS).

Yesterday I needed to transfer something I already created in AVCHD format (for my PS3) for playback in my PS2 (which supports AVI (DivX/XviD). So I decided AVI/MKV output (file per title) is a good option for the next build. The 'selection' window after you click [START] is a bit changed now.

I just posted over at BD_RB concerning another prob, but I think I will just comment here on the latest build info concerning the file mode MKV, AVI output. Do any of the options support creating a file playable on either TMT3 or even WMP that supports subtitles. I seem to remember that I could not get subs to work on any of these formats before, even hardcoded forced subs didn't play. Is this still a limitation? I need some playable files for my netbook since it doesn't support playing Bluray from folder. thanks, worknstiff

File-mode output creates .MKV or .AVI files, which most players play just fine. There is an option to 'hard-code' subtitles (which I'm using with demuxed Blu-ray PGS/SUP tracks). I still have some more work to do and you'll get the update.
Surely 'hard burned' subtitles will show in any PC player.

I'm not sure what that means and what is 'original' authoring.
After "reading" my words from the post in the BD-RB thread, I realize it could be misinterpreted. :o
What I meant was much more eloquently stated by yourself :
In your case you have 00000.m2ts to 00012.m2ts for your 13 titles and then 13 menu pages: 80010.m2ts to 80130.m2ts.
This reference to "original" authoring was merely related to menu authoring, that multiAVCHD does it this way, where as retail Blu-ray's author menu .m2ts differently.( numerically )
I believe worknstiff had recognized this difference by stating:
I think it has to do with the way the files being created are numbered because there is no VID_80130 since the m2ts files multiAVCHD creates start at VID_00000 and stop at VID_00012 for the 13 files. Also the VID_80130 is only 1 frame so Haali can't open it. Any solutions will be appreciated, worknstiff
But since these files are present, BD-RB reencodes all files when AVCHD BD5/9 is selected for its output, since it does not know if the original file is AVCHD compatible.
Now the fact that BD-RB did not work properly on this file is a different issue. However, since jdobbs has stated that BD-RB is designed to backup original retail Blu-ray discs that have not been preprocessed, my reply was that this was not a BD-RB problem for this backup. :cool:
My apologies for not making the effort to be more clear as to my initial stated remarks. :(
I hope you are aware of my appreciation for multiAVCHD and yourself, and my belief it is a "Fantastic" program. :)

* Added: Option in [properties] / [alter detected properties] in RE-AUTHOR mode to replace playlist/title video track with external video from MKV/M*TS/TS or raw 264/VC1/M2V streams
Encore CS5 appears to encode one frame of video for the Mpeg2 static menus, because there is a 00:00:00.041 time shown in the BDedit "PlayItem" and the "Detected main-path" from multiAVCHD for a 23.976 video. I tried the above option (including entering 0.041s or 0.042s) and I'm not getting a playable menu. Looking at the multiAVCHD re-author in BDedit it appears the "PlayItem" is being set for the same in and out time (no duration), instead of the 00:00:00.041 duration.
Looking at the multiAVCHD log I don't understand the "Detected media file" or "Playlist duration" times I'm seeing for the static menus. BDedit shows the original files having a "present. st." of 0:10:00.000 and a "present. end" of 0:10:00.042 in the "SequenceInfo". What I don't understand from the multiAVCHD log, why does "Detected main-path" appear to be right and "Detected media file" or "Playlist duration" shows no time? I attached the menu files I'm working with.

It shows .000 for duration because it discards the milliseconds. In re-author mode it has no impact. I'm really not sure what you are trying to achieve.
Please send me your original structure and menus and I'll try to make it work. If something needs to be fixed in multiAVCHD - I will.

@ Capsbackup, I am kinda befuddled by this hickup because I have done this processing before and never had any probs. It seems this started after I went from the 3.0 multiAVCHD to the newest 4. version. I thought it was just a fluke unless someone else mentioned it, and didn't want to do all the un+reinstall procedure, that sometimes creates other mysterious problems, if I didn't have too. I am well aware that BD_RB was just for original BD discs but I have used it with no previous problems. I appreciate your time and effort to help point me in the right direction for a possible solution. Deank, I am constantly having problems reencoding any HD-Audio to ac3. I have tested different blu-rays and eac3to always returns errors:
[10:40:30] Converting DTS-HRA, DTS-MA audio to Dolby AC3 (eac3to), bitrate used: 640...
[10:40:37] eac3to refused to convert audio!
[10:40:37] Trying to demux it...
[10:47:15] Trying to convert DTS-HRA, DTS-MA again with eac3to, bitrate used: 640...
[10:47:15] All attempts failed. Will use original audio track!
If I try to re-encode audio with dos-prompt (even when using eac3to from mAVCHD folder) everything is perfect.
Why?
When looking at the structure of the file with eac3to, the first track is the chapters, 2nd is video and the 3rd is the audio. If I do not choose the correct track, eac3to is giving me the same error as trying it with mAVCHD. Maybe mAVCHD is giving the wrong command to eac3to? When using dos-prompt, the command I use is e.g. in this case would be: eac3to filename.m2ts 3: audio.ac3.
Whereas using: eac3to filename.m2ts 2: audio.ac3 or eac3to filename.m2ts audio.ac3 is giving the error.

@deank (QUOTE):What type of subtitles and INPUT files do you plan to use? MKV/AVI output may require complete video re-encoding, too.
I was just going to use the regular bd .m2ts streams and the english subs, like maybe the forced subs from *ahem* Avatar. Right now if I put these BD folders on my ASUS 1005PR netbook, I can't play the folders because of TMT3. I have to play the m2ts file and loose the chapters and subs. I thought if I created a .mkv or .avi without giving up 1080p image quality and kept the chapters and subs intact that it would be worth the encoding time to make them portable. I use this netbook that has a broadcom HD graphics card that plays decent HD on it's 720P 10" screen and with the DV out, I can play a few movies when I go to the beach or whatever. It would just make it like a real bluray player if I had subs plus it's pretty cool using my EVO 4G for a remote. It really sucks that Asus only kicked in for a TMT3 trial edition and Arcsoft does not have an upgrade that supports the crystal HD card. Should have done my homework before buying the thing, buyer beware! It has already cost Asus a couple of laptop sales since I bought it in June. I now tell everyone to buy Toshiba, lol thanks for all the help, worknstiff

At the moment file modes are very restricted:
MKV modes: 1 video, 1 audio (AC3 always reencoded) and original chapters.
AVI mode: 1 video, 1 audio (AC3 always reencoded).
For all file modes the SPLIT option in AUTHOR tab is obeyed and final AVI/MKV files will be split in segments (for example when FAT32 4GB limit applies).
Subtitles are available only if hard-burned. You can convert a whole Blu-ray disc (main movie for example) to AVI (XviD) with hardburned subtitles, but you'll have to: 1) Find external .SRT/.SUP/.SSA subtitles or 2) Demux the original blu-ray subtitles and add them as external track to be hardburned.
Of course, at any later point user can add soft subtitles, audio tracks and chapters to the encoded MKV and AVI files.
I needed this, because my other application MKV2AVI doesn't have batch/jobs mode and doesn't support blu-ray input, playlists or m2ts files, but only MKV and I had to process about 20 files, so...

Build 769:
Three new FILE output modes:
* MKV (with AVC/H.264 video)
* MKV (with XviD video)
* AVI (with XviD video)
http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/multiAVCHD_output.jpg
The selection window is redesigned so now you have the LEFT side with all Blu-ray/AVCHD modes (which usually don't require any video reencoding) and the RIGHT side for modes, which usually require video reencoding.
Both MKV modes support video (after transcoding), source internal audio (after reencoding to AC3) or first external audio track, original chapters and external text-based SRT, ASS, SSA, SUB subtitles (added as soft subtitles in output MKV).
AVI mode supports video (after transcoding), source internal audio (after reencoding to AC3) or first external audio track.
Hard-subtitles available for all three modes (SRT, SSA, ASS, SUP, DVD SUP/IDX and Blu-ray PGS/SUP). Proper resizing/scaling is applied to all graphic based subtitles.
For all three modes there are additional transcode resize/uncrop resolutions, so user can create standard (SD) video with anamorphic or normal PAR.
Similarly to Blu-ray/AVCHD, in FILE mode user can chose among all resolutions, including 720x480 (or 720x576) anamorphic, but in addition also: 624x352, 852x480 and 1024x576 (square pixel).
http://multiAVCHD.deanbg.com/multiAVCHD_xvid.jpg
For DivX players which support only SD DivX, user can use resolutions 624x352, 720x480 and 720x576, but for players with HD DivX logo one can use 852x480, 1024x576 and of course higher resolutions as 1280x720, 1440x1080 and 1920x1080.
AVI (XviD) mode with various resolutions tested with direct USB playback in Panasonic Viera TX-50G20E, Playstation 3 and Playstation 2 (PS2 max resolution is 1024x576), plus PC players like MPC of course. :)
The quality of the picture (of Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester in Supernatural series) with AVI (XviD) 1-pass insane encoding in 1024x576p looks good enough to me :):
http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/snapshot_dean_2.jpg
These three modes allow easy conversion of Blu-ray disc titles (playlists) to one-file-backup or of AVCHD camcoder recordings (whole structures) or individual playlists for easy sharing with relatives, using regular PCs for DivX playback or for SD and HD DivX hardware players.
File modes do not support source MOV files.
The output files/segments from FILE modes are saved under [FILE] folder (inside the destination folder).

Well, I haven't been using multiAVCHD for a while now because you guys have kind of left me in the dust with all these menu features and the minutiae of HD-DVD and all that. I have read at least 75% of this 330+ page monster thread but some of it kind of flew past me.
I grasp these advanced features are important for some folks who are O-C about certain technical issues, formats, utter customization. And no doubt it appeals to your inner coding freak, that sense of completeness and completion. It is a brilliant technical achievement for any single coder to create. Definitely one of the coolest toolchains I've seen in years.
I have to say I had thought you were running out of new tricks when you sprung this MKV/AVI thing on us all. So you surprised me yet again with your cunning coding. It is satisfying just to watch an excellent media compilation utility program grow this way. I think you are the king of the AVCHD format.
If you're done scaring us all to death with new features for now, I think I'll download a new copy of multiAVCHD and update my existing AVCHD movie files.

Hello, I have ordered a pair of glasses to view Anaglyph 3D and in the meantime I was going to prepare some demo clips to view.
I tried to convert a stereoscopic (side by side) clip into anaglyph 3D but it won't work.
From this page KnightsQuest 3D test clip (http://www.3dtv.at/Movies/KnightsQuest_en.aspx) I downloaded the "576p Side-by-Side Format (52 MB)" version.
I have tried adding the wmv and change properties to "left/right" and inside transcode activate anaglyph 3D and resize&uncrop to 1920x1080. But when I start the project, it fails.

[20:50:19] *** DEBUG: Try to play [G:\_TEMP_multiAVCHD\multiTEMP-20100907\20100907-205019-uncrop-running.avs]
in MPC or other player, which supports AviSynth scripts and report the error to the author!
I tried playing the *.avs file in Graphstudio, and it plays it with no errors and I can see that it plays it in anaglyphic 3D.
Could someone try and test that demo clip I downloaded? Or am I doing something wrong?
I also tried transcoded the wmv file into mkv/h.264 with ripbot264 and use that file instead in multiavchd, but the same errors shows up. And the *.avs from temp dir plays correct with Graphstudio.
Using the multiTest tool from multiAVCHD it confirms no problems with all four tests.
Thanks, bye

GraphStudio (never used it) may use other chain of filters and play the avisynth script. You need directshow decoding capabilities. Since you pass multiTEST and since you can play the script it means you have avisynth, but you don't have a PIN connected for simple directshow decoding.
Either download and check the script with MPC (Media Player Classic) or re/install avisynth (2.58) with ffdshow. GraphStudio playback success means nothing in this case, so please check with MPC.
If you are using Win7, wmv decoding could cause a problem. I'll download the file and try it.
Before you go for any tests make sure that you get a PREVIEW in [transcode] window. Until you get one, transcode will never work.

I have no troubles with the file. The one I downloaded is stereo BOTTOM/TOP (not left right).
If you have the proper config, you should see this in TRANSCODE window:
http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/wmw-3d.jpg
Or this if you don't have 'anaglyph' option ticked:

Thanks for doing a test. I can see the video inside multiavchd exactly like you showed with your screengrabs.
I tried the same file you downloaded (I assume you meant top/bottom?).
Playing *.avs with MPC gave me this error: "Directshowsource: timeout waiting for graph to start."
This is the *.avs file:
filename="M:\Download HD video demo\Knights Quest 576p Wide.wmv"
b = directshowsource(filename,audio=false).crop(0,216,0,-216)
bordersizeX=int((1280-width(b))/2)
bordersizeY=int((720-height(b))/2)
AddBorders(b, bordersizeX, bordersizeY, bordersizeX, bordersizeY)
b=last
movieR=b.crop(0,int(height(b)/2),0,0).lanczosresize(width(b),720)
movieL=b.crop(0,0,0,(-1)*int(height(b)/2)).lanczosresize(width(b),720)
b=movieL
allR=movieR.ConvertToRGB32
rED=b.ConvertToYV12.tweak(bright=-8, sat=0, cont=0.8).blur(1.56).ConvertToRGB32
bLUE=showBlue(allR)
gREEN=showGreen(allR)
b=mergeRGB(rED, gREEN, bLUE).trim(0, 0)
b=b
return b.ConvertToYV12
Strange... Any quick idea where I can track down the problem, since multiavchd can display the frame from demo clip I'm sort of clueless now..

Bottom/top gives the depth better... At least I think so.
About the 'graph-won't-talk' message... I don't know... There is a filter in the chain stalling all.

I just did a quick test and kept top/bottom in properies, but disabled anaglyph 3D in transcode window, resized&uncrop to 1280x720 as before.
This time it transcodes as it should when I start the project, but ofcourse no 3D, just splitscreen top/bottom output.
Could this give you a hint about whats going on?
I tried a couple of days ago using your tips to create a custom *.avs file if you have seperate left and right video files, and that worked perfect and gave me anaglyph 3D. I just checked the project, and it didn't use the "anaglyph 3D" option since it was already in anaglyph 3D from using the *.avs as input file. (added text)

Sorry, I didn't see there are two versions. I downloaded the side-by-side (left/right) file, too. It is 2x720 x 576p so I used 720x576 as output format and it worked just fine.

Couple of things which I'll publish a bit later:
In [properties]:
* External subtitles: new button [view]. It will allow the user to view/edit text based SRT/SSA/ASS/SUB subtitles and graphic based PGS/SUP/DVD-SUB/IDX before processing.
* Subtitles: (internal) new button [extract]. It will allow the user to EXTRACT text based SRT/ASS/SSA or graphic SUP/PGS/VOBSUB and auto-load them as EXTERNAL tracks (and then allow the user to view/edit) - very useful for transcoding with hard-burned subtitles, because only external tracks can be hard-burned.
Other things: When loading external PGS/SUP files along with video, multiAVCHD will display their resolution and framerate in the LOG.
If hard-burning external SUP/PGS, multiAVCHD will check subtitle resolution and properly place them inside the picture in case user is DOWNSCALING or UPSCALING the video. If PGS/SUP resolution is higher than both original video resolution (extremely rare) and output resolution, user will have to resize subtitles himself (using the [view] button in [external subtitles] tab). :)
A simple example of using these 'features' would be:
1) Converting a Blu-ray movie with subtitles to AVCHD for playback in Viera TV. User loads the disc, in properties [extract]s the subtitles and in transcode uses the hard-burn option
2) Converting AVCHD or Blu-ray to FILE (avi/mkv) or to DVD with downscaling from 1920x1080 to 720x480 (for example). User can extract subtitles and add as external. If doing transcoding without hardburning user can click [view] and resize the subtitles himself. If doing hardburning then multiAVCHD will resize the PGS/SUP automatically.
3) Converting a title, but keeping the 'forced' SUP/PGS subtitles only. User uses the [view] button to edit the file in BDsup2sub to keep the forced subtitle lines only then processes the title to any output format.
Using these options eliminates the need of manual subtitle demuxing with tsmuxer/eac3to/mkvextract or launching bdsup2sub/notepad for viewing/editing.

Your program is great, I already donated, but there is a serious error!
Since build 760 or 761 your program does not recognize ac3 audio and always reencodes it.
In the log is written something like A_AC3 unknown format!!!!
How can that be?
Have others similar experiences?
I reinstalled build 758 and everything works fine, no reencoding of ac3.
deank
8th September 2010, 15:20
It recognizes it and reencodes it if the detected bitrate is HIGHER than the value set in SUBTITLES&AUDIO / Non-HD audio to AC3 bitrate.
In older versions the default value was 384 and it causes the problem for you. Just set it to 640 and multiAVCHD will never reencode the AC3 audio.

Some size optimizations due:
* multiAVCHD.exe is now down to 1.3MB (about 30% smaller than before)
* multiAVCHD.rar (used for auto-updates) is now down to 200KB (40% of its previous size) :)
That will save some bandwidth! :p

RESOLVED - Changed resolution to 1920x1080
The following is a link to a purportedly legitimately free of restrictions Left/Right 3D 5 minute demo clip with video parameters of XviD .AVI 25fps (2x1280) 2560x720:
http://3dvision-blog.com/stereo-3d-video-of-a-concert-of-the-russian-rock-group-splin/
When I use multiAVCHD to convert it to anaglyph, the resultant file, when viewed with proper "glasses", includes an approximate 1/3 overlapping repeat of the image.
The original Left/Right clip displays perfectly when using the "Stereoscopic Player".
Any idea as to what I'm doing wrong (or is it possible that multiAVCHD has a problem with XviD .AVI as input?)
Thanks.

About the 'classic' menu from version 3.0 which was removed...
Here is a screenshot of the menu. If I implement it in version 4.1 as 'title-list' menu it would mean NO CHAPTER MENU and NO SETUP MENU pages.
Sorry for the delay in responding. I was gone over the weekend and I am just now catching up on forum postings.
Go for it. I could care less about chapter menus and setup menus. With my first run with the other menu system, I turned them off there as well.
Thanks.

@laserfan: Yes, of course all is customizable. Title names are set in [properties]. Font and colors are set in MENU tab. TOP/LEFT position for the 1st title-name is set in MENU tab, too. All that in version 4.1 when I add the option, not in ver <4.
Will there be a way, for all menu types, to turn off character outlines? Depending on the background, outlines can hinder the text instead of help.

Yes, it is possible to use 0% opacity for the outline. I'll have to check.

Build 770:
As described in my post from yesterday, there are two new buttons in [properties].
In [subtitles] tab: [extract] - it allows demuxing of PGS/SUP, SRT/SSA/ASS/SUB and DVD VOBSUB/IDX subtitles from MKV, M2TS/MTS, TS files, from Blu-ray/AVCHD MPLS/MPL playlists and from DVD VIDEO_TS (IFO) titles.
After a successful demux, the subtitle track is added as EXTERNAL track in [External subtitles] tab.
The actual extracted files are saved under .\multiAVCHD\templates\temp\subdemux\YYMMDD-HHMMSS-****\. Folder is emptied on each multiAVCHD run (when it finishes and prints "Cleaning up..."), but not at startup.
In [external subtitles]: [view] button - it allows viewing and editing of subtitle tracks. For text based SRT/ASS/SSA/SUB with notepad and for graphic based PGS/SUP and DVD VOBSUB/IDX with BDsup2sub.
Also, the size of multiAVCHD.exe and multiAVCHD.rar (for updates) are now down 50%.

Actually I just used the feature in Blu-ray disc RE-AUTHOR mode. I found that the original subtitles were TOO high on screen and I wanted them in the lower part where the 'black-bar' is (AR 2.4:1). So I [extract]ed the subtitles, clicked [view] which opened BDsup2sub, then moved all captions to the bottom. Then re-authored the structure and now subtitles are where I want them to be :rolleyes:

I was playing for the last hour and created some avisynth menu scripts (inspired by what I saw few weeks ago), so here is what I got as a general idea for a nice motion menu.

@deank Each stripe is a motion videoIf all 6 are active at the same time, that must be awfully taxing on your system...
deank
9th September 2010, 21:58
Yep.. as I posted - it takes a lot of time... about 15-30mins to generate these 30 seconds of video, but still if one is in no hurry it will produce a nice menu background.
As it seems it is really nice when NO HUMANS are in the video, like Planet Earth series :)
Multiple motion videos were already used with MOTION CHAPTERS and there are 12 simultaneous videos playing. In this case only 6, but because of filters and rotation it takes a bit longer. Once encoded, the menu looks really nice :)
Dean
p.s. ...not to mention that it took some time and drawing to remember some math from the past, to calculate the rotation and proper video planes :)
