is there any way to dispense with the seemingly mandatory version check when this app fires up? My media processing machine has never, nor will ever be in the future, connected to the internet so it's really a waste of time.

So you're claiming BD-Rebuilder does a better job at compressing blu-ray movies than MultiAVCHD and DVDFab?
@SuperFist Yes...
Ummm... after testing BD Rebuilder I'm going to have to concur. I mean Dean has done a wonderful job with MultiAVCHD. I love the PS3 HDD function but as far as simplicity of user interface as well as extreme usability goes, I will have to also side with BD Rebuilder on this one.

this app would be a real contender if it could display ALL the collective assets of BD's in general. As it stands still images seem to baffle this app and make it near impossible to know what you're messing around with in the structure.

Hi, all I´ve been using multiAVCHD for creating menus for my BD´s compilations, but recently tried to create a menu using SD-DVD option, it was a static single title menu using slide tempate, but after finishing the creation process I ended up with a single title menu but with a motion background, at first I tought I had selected the wrong option, tried again this time double checking all the configuration settings for this menu and the resul was again the same Single title menu with motion background. Tried using a diferent menu types, tried XMB with the same result. I tried with previous builds and in the only one I was able to accomlish what I wanted was build 766. Looks like it is defaulting to this setting for SD-DVD menu.
has anyone experienced this?
By the way I´m using Avisynth 258, ffdshow rev 3054_20090804 and haali media splitter 11012009.
Appreciate your comments.

Checkout a side-by-side comparison of the movie The A-Team condensed to fit on a 25GB BD-R with just video and the DTS audio track on DVDFab vs. BD Rebuilder...

As you can see, the DVDFab version looks horribly washed out with blacks crushed whereas the BD Rebuilder version looks robust, crystal clear, the blacks are consistently black and the scene is full of color just like the original disc.

Actually, your response to my question earlier about BD Rebuilder being better PQ than MultiAVCHD and DVDFab is what spawned it (scroll up to see my response to it).
I merely wanted to provide those reading our back-and-forth visual proof of this. And by the way, doesn't MultiAVCHD use the same codec as BD Rebuilder? I thought I heard somebody say they were the same codec so I was kind of confused by your "Yes" response to my question. Or are you saying it's redundant because people here already know DVDFab's PQ sucks when it comes to compression? ;)
How about I replace the BD Rebuilder screenshot with one by MultiAVCHD? I'm sure a lot of people here use these programs anyway and its also proof to keep supporting great developers like Dean. :)

Of course, you may post anything you choose...
BTW - If you wanted to make a truly valid comparison, you'd include a screen capture of the identical frame captured from playback of the original, commercial Blu-ray disc, played with the same player (and settings) you used for the BD-RB and DVDSFab captures you've presented.

Your post here is very similar to the one I replied to in the "One-click" sub-forum here, however, you've now added the requirement of converting from PAL to NTSC.
This now leads me to ask you:
1) Why the extra step of creating an .MKV?
2) What is the original source material from which you created the .MKV?
3) Why didn't you just convert your original source material to an NTSC DVD?

Source is from a friend overseas who recorded a Tv special for me. Hence why it's in PAL as it has English subtitles with it.

These differences look to me like DVDFab is not detecting the correct ColorMatrix setting for the video. If you apply the ColorMatrix AviSynth command I'll bet you'll get an identical picture.
Either way, not really applicable for this thread unless you include MultiAVCHD in the mix.

I've been waiting, what seems like forever, for the promised simple menu. As such, I've not played with mAVCHD, because I've been patiently waiting (as well as the others who are waiting for the simple menu).
But, I have a project I need to get done by late Sunday morning. I finally got all of the video encoded.
I loaded the five video files into a new start of the program. I went into the extended properties and added the audio streams for each video and the chapter list for each video.
Authoring is XMB. When I first did a preview of the menu, there was tons of text dealing with the titles. As there are 7 audio streams, the list ran off the right edge.
While trying to get rid of the audio description, or change it somehow, the menu preview no longer works. All I see is my background image and the blue-grey button. If I enter Play in the Play area, that text shows up in the menu, to the right of the button.
What the hell happened to the text for each of the titles? I can't find any option that I set that made the text vanish. I was playing around with the various Menu Authoring selections to see which one would work for now (until simple menu support shows up). Then this happened and I can't undo it.
I can put text in the Font, Colors an Labels boxes and that shows up in the menu, but no title text.
I'm at a loss.

For a simple static / still menu, with a selectable poster thumbnail and text title name, but no audio or subtitle menu page, you could, under Author tab, unselect " Create top menu ", and select " Add classic title-list " menu.

Also, I am trying to have multiAVCHD create chapter menus for me. I have 26 chapters in all, and a menu is create for the first 12, but no other menus for the remaining 14.
Does anyone know how to resolve these problems? It's very frustrating and I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

If your H.264 Mov file is not the proper AVCHD resolution, I don't believe it will work. Needs to be 1920x1080, 1280x720, etc...
If the resolution is within AVCHD specs, you could also demux the h.264 stream and remux your 640 AC3 stream to a new AVCHD or Blu-ray with tsMuxeR, including your custom chapters in tsMuxeR, then when you add video to multiAVCHD, add the playlist mpls file and all will be imported for you. :)
Or edit the chapter file within multiAVCHD.

It doesn't. I had separate *.264 and *.ac3 files and loading the video files didn't bring in the audio.
The problem with having separate *.264 files is that mAVCHD isn't able to do any preview imaging. No time markers in the video, I believe.
I loaded the MKV files that I had also made and that allows for viewing the video and because the audio is part of the MKV file, they get loaded as well.

How did you determine this?
Please repeat the procedure I suggested (Identical primary filenames for both .264 and .ac3 streams in the same folder - Then load ONLY .264 stream into multiAVCHD) and then post the log back here...
MrVideo
27th March 2011, 01:27
How did you determine this?
By the fact that the audio streams were not there. :D
But, in my case I think I may know why. If the program is strict about matching file names, it will never load in multiple audio streams, only a single stream. I have seven.
The format is: file.264, file_1.ac3 through file_7.ac3.
If Dean is only looking at "file", it would then be looking for file.ac3, which doesn't exist.
There was nothing in the log when I did it.
MrVideo
27th March 2011, 01:32
But then why does it open fine as an h.264 MOV before demuxing and then remuxing with the AC3 included as an MP4?
Because an h.264 video file that is to be used for AVCHD authoring and/or Blu-ray compliant authoring, has a strict set of options that must be used when encoded.
For standalone computer playback, those requirements are a lot looser. Also, MP4 is a wrapper, and as long as the program that is doing the muxing can determine that the video is H.264, it will wrap it.

tsMuxeR is rejecting the file because there is some incompatibility with it, and maybe its the audio stream. You could try TsRemux to compile.

Now that doesn't make any logical sense. By this I mean what does posters have to do the a title menu thumbnail? One doesn't equate thumbnails and posters. At least I didn't. Especially when I tried that and nothing showed up in the menu preview. Now I'm told that menu preview won't. I gather that I can create a separate image to use instead, based upon the entry box that is there for said image file. I'm going to try that.
Oh, the time entry for the poster sucks. It takes "1:46.028" and turns it into 00:00:28.000. That isn't what I entered. I had to enter "00:01:46.028" for it to take the value and get it right.

Creating my own poster images works with menu preview. Interesting that the title menu background image can be JPG or BMP, but the poster image can only be JPG.
Since I have 7 audio tracks, I turned on audio and subtitles. When I do a preview, it lists all of the tracks as being "Other (DD)". Kinda makes sense, because they are all UND. What I need to do is manually change the audio description to describe what they really are, and no, it isn't English for one, Spanish for another. etc., They are way different than that, i,e., special use audio tracks.
But, I can't find anyplace in which to manually enter descriptions for each of the tracks and I am beginning to believe that I can't. If that is the case, I'll turn this off and let the user select the audio track via the remote and have a description of the audio tracks on the case artwork (which is what I was going to do anyway).

If you are in Compilation with one of your titles highlighted, there is an audio tab that has Language available for you to enter a three letter lower case choice, then click "change". I believe Blu-ray is limited to a language: eng, spa, fre, etc... and does not have the option like DVD for "Director's Comments", etc.. If you load an audio file into tsMuxeR, click the drop down arrow under Language, you will see a list of examples available.
I don't use PowerDVD, but instead use TMT3. Even though multiAVCHD does not show the menu previews in "real time" exactly as they would appear after creation, I have found that after creation they are what I was hoping and/or expecting! :p TMT3 allows testing from folders without the need to create an image first, which does help me "view" before burning to disc. :)

I don't have BD-RE media. PowerDVD10 will read an ISO file?
That said, I asked because in another directory I had the contents of a third-party's AVCHD disc (not from a camcorder, an authored disc) and PowerDVD10 had no problem reading that folder and displaying the main menu.
I do have DVD-RW media and will be doing some testing of the "classic" menu option that is there with some short selections. I was in a rush to get this particular project done today, and did manage to get it done. I coasterized a free piece of media that came with a new BD burner.
What I got completed isn't "perfect" as the slide menu has a horrible transition from one title to another in the main menu. The screen goes black before it finally reloads with the newly selected title. But, for now it will work.

Ah, if only it were that easy. The tracks, in this case, do not fit the normal language usage mold. As an example, one track could have Japanese in the left channel and Russian in the right channel. The tracks need a manual description. But, you are probably right in that the Blu-ray spec requires that the audio track description fit the mold. So, they are all left as UND and the description of the various tracks is on the case artwork.
I don't use PowerDVD, but instead use TMT3.
It is up to TMT5 now. Crap, they want $100 for it (why the hell they say $99.99 when everyone knows that it really means $100). PowerDVD10 came with the new Pioneer BD burner.
As noted though, I did get the project mostly done. I will be doing some testing with other, smaller files on DVD, so that I can see how that goes.
