When you extract it creates PRIVATE at the root and then the rest in private, right?
You should get something like: F:\PRIVATE\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM\00000.MTS
What happens when you put the card in the camcoder?
Can you download this one and check? (http://www.savefile.com/files/1512404)
If you can record 10 seconds AVCHD clip (that works with your TV) and upload it somewhere - I'll take a look at it, too.
User's manual for Panasonic BD-3x says: AVCHD format recorder with Panasonic HD cameras (V 1.0).
I'm uploading a sample#4 to use with BLANK/FORMATTED SD card. Format the card either with the blu-ray player or a camcoder - then copy sample#4.
Okay, I've had a go with this file above and SD test 4.
Both play fine in my BD35 Blu-Ray player. The normal panasonic AVCHD menu comes up after selecting to play AVCHD (from a choice of jpeg's or avchd).
Neither will play on my camera - it's a UK one, so I imagine it's due to the 29.97 framerate. The camera just says 'this cannot be used due to incompatible data'.
I made sure to format my card for both files and they both worked fine on the BD player (they are infact, one and the same!).
The previous test (SD test 3) did extract correctly with the file structure you mentioned, but would not play (in the camera or BD player). I did format the card for this test as well.
The message was different for test 3 in my camera though - IIRC it said 'cannot play file'.
I'll try to test the AVCHD profile test in a moment - just about to download & burn.
I've already sent you some clips previously. Would you like another 10sec clip? It's not problem if you do.

Well, if this one works in the player there may be no need of other samples.
But I'd like to have 1920x1080i/p, 1280x720p samples with ONLY one m2ts file - no chapters/scenes.
Just a single 10sec recording that works in your player.

Hmmm, odd.
I've just tried to AVCHD Profiles test and I can't get it to work.
I've burnt the BDMV/CERTIFICATE folders using IMGBurn UDF2.5 (as I normally would with multiAVCHD output) but all I get is the standard Panasonic AVCHD menu with nothing on it. I did nothing to the original download, just burnt to DVD+RW.
I tried removing the AUXDATA folder, but this made no difference.
I've never had any problems from multiAVCHD before and haven't changed anything that could affect this. I checked the output of a previous compilation that also has all these folders - so I don't think it's anything to do with my player!
I'd love to be able to provide more samples myself, but as far as I'm aware my SD1 camera only records 1440x1080i.
Can anyone else help with samples?

Just tried it on my Sony BDP-S550...
All supported except "Secondary Video" which said "Unsupported"...
Will try it on a BD-RE see what comes up :)
Edit...Same results, all supported except Secondary Video.
Does this diagnostic disc mean that proper Bluray output from tsmuxer still won't support PIP for my player. Or is this purely for properly authored AVCHD?
Cheers.

can you replace your index/movieobject with these (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/new_bdmv.rar)?
@Furiousflea: PAL supported on your NTSC bd player? It is just what your player status registers say for the current-operation mode. HD capability means 1920/1280 PIP video I guess (not 720x480/576).
*edit* I just fixed a small bug with Profile 3.0 detection... not that anyone has such player but still... files in the link above (1kb) are updated (just 2 *.bdmv files).

It will be interesting to see what NTSC PS3 system reports for PAL compatibility.
I don't know how all this may help... it was just a test to see if some player registers can be used in AVCHD mode... :)
And from your 1st failed attempt I now know that Panasonic BD won't play without TITLES present in the structure.

Tested sample #4 in my NTSC BD-35. (please excuse if someone has already posted). Shows the first 36 second title, but plays only 1 second of it before quitting (yellow & white trucks).
My U.S. HDC-SD1 camcorder shows 4 titles with 4 thumbnails. Plays the first 5 seconds of title 1 before displaying "check card." Refuses to play titles 2-4 with "check card."
Thanks for working on this! I will be contributing to your paypal account.

Hello Dean,
I didn't like to bother you for the last 4 days because you were so much engaged in the Panasonic problem, which you evidently managed successfully, but the compatibility issue with the Sony S350 and 576i video still remains. Nothing I have tested works. multiAVCHD creates working menus but "jumping" video, TOAST multiplexes smooth playing videos but only a menu sequence of ~130ms length, which in turn might be the cause for the menu not being displayed at all (but still being accessable).
BTW: all videos, 576i as well as 576p (obvious) are displayed as 576p in the players display.
I had the "great" idea to multiplex the BDMV structure via TOAST and import the output in multiAVCHD, because I was under the impression that imported BDMV/AVCHD are not processed via tsmuxer, but multiAVCHD didn't like the BDMV-structure/index.bdmv created by TOAST and crashed every time I've tried with error code
"(RT) cannot open file ...\index.bdmv -Line 1764"
I have uploaded the index file if you want to take a look.

SDTest #4 worked perfectly on my Panasonic BD30 Player (Firmware 2.8)
Also did not need to format it, just copied it to the HP SDHC 8GB card and it worked. All 4 clips played perfectly. :) There was no title for these just the date of recording and its length.
Does this mean that multiAVCHD can convert MKVs for the SDHC card format for playing on Panasonic standalones? Or will it require more development and testing and the use of a Panasonic player for Dean to get this working?
So far looks like this test #4 clip works with following Panasonic BD Player models:
BD35

There is nothing wrong with the index file. multiAVCHD is trying to load *\BDMV\index.bdmv and can't find such file. Are you dragging your BDMV folder to multiAVCHD?
You can disable [x] Edit AVCHD/BDMV folders on load option.
Make sure the video files you try to process are exactly 720x576@50i or 25fps.
You can also disable [x] Delete temp files and take a look (send me) the .meta file for tsmuxer in the _TEMP folder for these choppy-playing files.

edit: Try to launch multiUPDATE.exe and check if the error you got @line 1764 will appear when you import your folder.

Hi Dean,
a small success! With TOAST multiplexed BDMV's can successfully be passed through multiAVCHD - playing smooth on Sony's BDP. The problem before resulted because multiAVCHD wants to have write access to index.bdmv whether "Edit on loading" is active or not, otherwise Error "Line 1764" with "Edit on loading" active or Error "Line 2010" if inactive.
There is something else I'd like to ask. As I initially read about AVCHD I stumbled upon some information which seemed unusual. I cannot recall the source of the information, but at that time it seemed legit. The information provided explained "real" AVCHD as being encoded in packets of three frames.
I tried out several programs for more informations on the files/streams I wanted to mux
- h264info 26alpha: Error "PTS<DTS"
- TSPE 755b: if I take a look at individual frames, something odd shows in the preview screen => frame order ABC BCD CDE or similar
I am not sure if I make myself clear, but I lack the technical knowledge as well as the ability to write genuin english :(
Anyway, here is the meta file you requested:

I think the error is because of INDEX.BDMV I used instead of index.bdmv - and may be in MacOS it is case sensitive.
Can you run multiUPDATE again?
I'm not sure if I understand this ABC BCD CDE thing... The way m2ts files are multiplexed is the same for BDMV and AVCHD and is set in ISO-13818-1 (http://neuron2.net/library/mpeg2/iso13818-1.pdf)/2.
Also - in some rare cases multiAVCHD has problems with non-ANSI file/folder names (like the one in your meta).
elijah.baley
24th April 2009, 11:35
What I meant was, that in a frame per frame view of the stream previous frames are repeated.
Normally a frame sequence ought to behave something like A-B-C-D-E-F-G... - a continuous playback, in my case however frames are repeated (coded in the stream) where they shouldn't be, i.e. A-B-C-b-D-E-d-F-G, a discontinuous playback.
Oddly, they don't show in VLC or any other software player, or after passing through TOAST on the Sony: the video is played back smoothly without dropped frames or anything like that. Only after passing through tsmuxer the video becomes jumpy on the Sony.
I will see if I can provide you with a small sample, but with a 56k even a small sample becomes big.

Can you test with tsmuxer these few options:
1) without SPS
2) without SEI
I think one of them (or both) may confuse your sony somehow.
deank
24th April 2009, 11:56
Another thought... Is there a chance that you're capturing from SAT/TV and the broadcast framerate is not really 25fps but your encoder/card does something to the original stream or the capture card does pulldown and converts 576i to 576p?
elijah.baley
24th April 2009, 11:59
a few days ago I tried TsMuxer (prior to multiplexing them with multiAVCHD or TOAST) with different options
1) both
2) none
3) only SPS
4) only SEI
5) every option above + "change level" (just in case!)
In some cases, they were not playable even after multiplexing with TOAST.
Here is a small sample.

To your second reply,
that's a tricky one. The Hauppauge HD-PVR claims to record only the format that arrives and the videos are, that I am sure of, interlaced - I think FBAS does only interlaced. "Mice Teeth" are visible in individual frames and the h264 header shows interlaced material (576i/25). I recorded a test video from DVD via component as "forced" progressive which showed 576p/50.
deank
24th April 2009, 12:17
I tested the .ts sample and it plays smooth in AVCHD (PS3). I also created a m2ts file from the .ts and muxed it again and it played smooth, too.
It can be either 576i (interlaced 50 fields, 25frames) or 576p ( progressive 25 frames) but not 576i25 or 576p50.
I have no idea why your sony player behaves like it does.
***
There is a small application I sometimes use: HDTV to MPEG2. But may be in your case it won't work (if you're using h264 capture):

@ Dean
well, the 25fps 576i video must have 50 interlaced frames. If I turn on deinterlacing in EyeTV it shows 50/25 fps.
http://g.imagehost.org/0476/576i_25fps.gif
...however...
http://g.imagehost.org/0104/576p_50fps.gif
The last one was a DVD played on the Sony S-350 with "forced" progressive output, which doubles the framerate for smooth playback ... or
