Hi, Dolsen,
that's exactly what's happening to me! I counted the time to enter in extended properties of the compilation and then in transcode and it was 30 secs each time.
What I can't seem to understand or get to see or know is the way to "tell" "mx264.exe" to use always ffdshow, as I don't see anything "asking" me what it should use.
Please, could you explain to me how to do it, because I experience the same with the mouse and the freezing of other functions on the PC during those darned 30 secs.
TIA
Wolfe
Edit: Of course I ticked "show spawned tools", but I see nothing.
Hi,
Glad to hear this was the reason, as it's easy to fix.
You can do it manually in ffdshow, go into "Start"-menu, inside "ffdshow" folder there is "Video decoder configuration" - run that config tool.
When it opens, go into "DirectShow control" in the list on left side, and click "Edit..." next to "Use ffdshow only in", and then "Add..." and select "mx264.exe" inside tools folder of MultiAVCHD.
That should do it...
Bye,

I followed your instructions, but everything it's the same, still those 30 secs of waiting. Having the same "symptoms" you had, thought it was the same, but it doesn't seem so. It's very frustrating.
I'll try uninstalling some programs to see if one of them affected multiAVCHD.
In any way, thank you very much for your advice, and if you happen to think of something else that may cause this "slowness" in some operations with MA, please don't hesitate telling me.

A quick update:
* Added [Load settings] and [Save settings] buttons in SETTINGS tab. You can save/backup your current multiAVCHD settings to different (than multiAVCHD.ini) file
* Changed mplayer playback/preview settings to keep current/desktop colorspace - faster start for preview in title properties and realtime-menu-preview for motion styles
* Changed realtime menu preview to 1280x720 (was 800x450)

Hi again,
You could try and add "x264.exe" from tools folder inside MultiAVCHD to the list in ffdshow, as you did with "mx264.exe" and see if that helps. I have both added.
Beside that, I don't have any ideas - sorry...
I'm using ffdshow rev. 3054 downloaded from here:
http://multiforum.deanbg.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17
Good luck tracking down the problem!
Added later: You could try loading the videofile in a tool that shows what directshow filters are used to decode, and verify that it's really ffdshow that does the job decoding the videofile. I use Graphstudio to check my directshow filter usage, http://blog.monogram.sk/janos/tools/monogram-graphstudio/
Just in case some others filters are doing the job instead of ffdshow in your setup...

You may try to install the other version that you have, but don't use all the defaults and set ffdshow to be used by all programs without any restrictions.

I did a movie-only BD-RB encode of a non-English movie with forced English subtitles, and added DTS-HD MA audio in multiAVCHD. For some reason forced subs were turned off in multiAVCHD output. Could someone tell me what's the easiest way to force a subtitle track on in a remuxed Blu-ray? Is there some small application I could run that would do the change in the blink of an eye? (I can do this with Clown BD but it takes too long and requires plenty of free HDD space.)

No, it won't. The forced flag is part of the PGS/SUP and multiAVCHD doesn't change that. We discussed that already.

Well, it seems to me that is exactly what happened. I played the BD-RB output on TMT and the subtitle track was enabled by default. Once I ran the data through multiAVCHD, the subtitle track was no longer enabled by default. Oh, hang on, are we talking about two different things here? I'm referring to selecting a subtitle track in BD-RB, clicking it with the right mouse button and selecting "set default on" (or whatever the text it).

Right... what you're talking about is not forced subtitles. It is just 'subtitles default ON'. The command I mentioned above does that without remuxing.
FORCING subtitles requires processing of the PGS/SUP stream and setting certain flags in it - what BDSup2Sub does. But I don't think you need that.
///
Just to make it clear again. A lot of people don't really understand the difference between forced subtitles and switching subtitles on and off.
* normal subtitles: can be switched on and off using the remote control or the command we discussed above
* forced subtitles: cannot be switched on or off. Their appearance is defined by flags in the PG stream. Usually forced are always on.
An example: For a movie you can have 2 ENGLISH subtitle streams:
1) Normal subtitles: subtitle lines for all conversations during the video (english & non-english parts) - you can watch the movie with or without the subtitles - it is users' choice
2) Forced subtitles: subtitle lines only for certain conversations (usually non-english) - you can't switch these subtitles off. Hence the name "forced".

I'm making such a track right now using easySUP, and when that's made I use BDSup2Sub to set the "forced" flag (this track has only 7 such subtitles so it will be easy!). :)

Right... what you're talking about is not forced subtitles. It is just 'subtitles default ON'.
That explains it. Actually, in our country we used to have a problem with forced subtitles, back in the early days of DVD, so I do know the difference.

A-yup. I was living under the misapprehension that doing the "set default on" in BD-RB was equivalent to creating forced subs. I would've realized the difference the moment I tried to switch those subs off, but I guess I never tried that! English subs with Japanese audio kinda makes one not to switch subs off :D
By the way, I have to tip my hat to Dean and everyone else creating these fantastic freeware apps. With them I've managed to transform a 40GB Japanese Blu-ray with 6 channel PCM audio and no subs into perfectly watchable BD25 with 6 channel DTS audio and English subs. Joy!

A simple question that will surely be treated.
I would like to make an AVCHD from a movie whose size is about 14 GB. My intentions are to make two DVD+R DL so I set the "Volume split" to 7950 MB.
At the end of the process MultiAVCHD has created 2 folders: "AVCHD" and "AVCHD_VOLUME_SPLIT. Within the latter there are two other folders named "VOL_001" and "VOL_002".
I think that should just burn the two folders named "VOL_xxx". The folder AVCHD therefore not be considered?
Thanks for your help and my congratulations to Dean and his great software!!!

Let me post in a minute more detailed explanation about forced subtitles scenarios.
A simple question that will surely be treated.
multiAVCHD has created 2 folders: "AVCHD" and "AVCHD_VOLUME_SPLIT. Within the latter there are two other folders named "VOL_001" and "VOL_002".
Each VOL_* folder contains BDMV folder. That's what you need to burn. :)

2) Forced subtitles: subtitle lines only for certain conversations (usually non-english) - you can't switch these subtitles off. Hence the name "forced".
3) A subtitle stream which contains both 'normal' and forced subtitles.
Here is the interesting part (with point 3). The command in the example actually does three things:
0x51C00001 = SetStream
0x8001 = Activate 1st audio track listed in the next/current playlist
0xC001 = Activate and set to display-ON 1st subtitle track
The last operand could be 0x8001 which will SELECT the 1st subtitle track but will not make the player DISPLAY it.
It is a 2 bit setting operand. 1st bit for select, 2nd for display.
Now, if the subtitle track has forced subtitles, even if the track is not set to be displayed (but selected), the forced ones WILL be displayed.
That's the difference.
Usually BD titles are authored to follow this scenario:
1) Detect player preferences for menu, audio and subtitles - obtaining values from PSR registers
2) Displaying the desired menu in proper language (if available)
3) Setting desired audio and subtitle tracks (if available in the preferred language)

No such luck. But taking in consideration colinhunt comment, I went back to v3133 and everything went smooth with multiAVCHD. So there must be something with FFDSHOW 3326 and multiAVCHD.
Just one question: Would there be any incompatibility if I install multiAVCHD and FFDSHOW 3054 in, say, HDD C: and BD-Rebuilder and FFDSHOW v3326 in HDD D:, so to speak?
Thank you :)
Hi Deank
First of all thanks for such a great program.
I don't know if you can help, I have a blu ray movie tha has 38 Gb, but when I load it with multiAVCHD it says the size is 84GB, then I open the first file in the Compilation list for the properties, and I get 3 playlists that refer to the main movie instead of one like in other movies.
I then remove extras and the unwanted audios form one of the 3 playlists, close properties and press start, the result is a file that has 55Gb.
Please help me I don't know what to do.

I made a Blu-Ray with 6 titles. 1 title for the movie and 5 titles for the bonus material. I imported 6 different title pictures for the menu. All these pictures are 1920x1080. During the process of Blu-Ray generating I get no errors, but with title 6 something odd happens. The m2ts that gets generated for it doesn't have a 1920x1080 resolution, like the original picture, but has a 1920x2160 resolution. As a consequence of this, the menu shows artifacts.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, maybe it's a bug. I enclosed the logfile, the title 6 picture and the m2ts file.

I've just tried with another movie, and still doesn't work. It's weird, cause motion menus used to work here before. My machine always has encoded the files perfectly, with all MAVCHD options and combinations. It's a Dual Core with 4GB RAM, and Seven X64.
I'll do some more tests and let you know.
EDIT: I can confirm: just "unticking" the "create motion chapters" option made motion menu works normally. So, the problem is just when I use chapter motion. Must be a problem with Haali or FFDshow config, I don't know...

Excuse me if this topic has been discussed before, I did a search and nothing came up. I have used multiAVCHD with very good success converting bluray to standard DVD so that the kids can play their movies on their portable players. However, I'm having no success converting my camera and camcorder AVCHD recordings to DVD to send to family members. The video comes out too fast, maybe 2x speed but the audio is fine, normal speed. Naturally the video looks like the Keystone Cops and is not in sync with the audio. I have had success with FormatFactory, but prefer you software, the video seems better quality (at least on the movie DVDs). How do I fix the speed video down to normal and so it syncs with the audio. Thank you. Except for the camcorder problem, I love your software and have donated.
