VLC uses only internal stuff, MPC-BE uses Directshow, remove crap like codecpacks and similar if installed. These only mess up the system and help nobody.

How do I configure MPC-BE to only show default or forced subtitles by default? I've found the check options for default and forced in the subtitles sub menu, but those seem to completely hide subtitles that don't match that option. I just want a setting for the subtitle that is selected by default, but still want to be able to change the subtitle manually.

If there isn't an option for that, how do I make MPC-BE honor the subtitle options of LAV splitter? Because right now it doesn't matter what I configure there, MPC-BE seems to always select the same subtitles anyway.

You can disable internal audio/subtitles selector.

Which option do you mean exactly? I've tried "Ignore embedded subtitles" but that completely disables the subtitle switching GUI and shortcuts, so that won't allow me to change subtitles. At least not without going deep into the filters submenus which is not an option for me.
I just want the defaults set by either LAV or MPC-BE (configured to my preferences). Everything else - GUI and shortcuts for switching during the movie - should stay the same.

Try to un-tick "Default track preference" check box in Options->Playback.

After upgrading to MPC BE 1.5.1 (build 2985), the player stopped remembering the "Touch window from inside" setting. After the upgrade, I have to select that option manually every time I want to play a video in full screen in order to avoid black bars. This used to happen automatically with the previous build. Am I missing something?

1 - try latest SVN version.
2 - if you use as in old version from menu "Video frame" - it's work temporary, only for current session. Global setting move to Options -> Video -> Framing -> Default mode.

Did you want to say a quiet sound? Try turning on the option "Auto volume control".

It is turned on. There is difference for the worse if I turn it off. By comparison the audio level is significantly higher with VLC. The problem does not arise with mp4 files, but only with mkv files.

Is the "Reopen File" command still supposed to work? I can find it in Options -> Player -> Keys (assigned to Ctrl + E by default), but it doesn't work for me.

In case it's relevant, I'm running 1.5.1 (build 2985).

Thanks for the reply, Aleksoid1978. I just noticed it works as long as one doesn't exit the player, e.g. "Ctrl + C" followed by "Ctrl + E" works as expected.

But after closing and re-opening the player "Ctrl + E" does nothing, for me at least. (This is not the behavior I was used to in MPC-HC, where it works in this case.)

Is Daemon tools 4.49 the last version supported by MPC-BE's "Open ISO" option on Windows 7?

I'm not reporting bug, I understand it is not a good idea to continue supporting a software that keep changing its mechanism. And I'm just asking a question. No one would like to install multiple softwares that do the same thing.

I'm asking it because the Daemon tool lite 5.0.1 is using the old UI(unlike 10.0+), but the "Open ISO" option disappeared when I updated my Daemon Tool lite from 4.46.1 to that version. After I downgraded it to 4.49.1, it is shown again.

It is a file from youtube, muxed to mkv. To get the mkv do the following:
1. Download youtube-dl.exe from here (https://yt-dl.org/latest/youtube-dl.exe)
2. Download ffmpeg from here (https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/win64/static/ffmpeg-20171210-1215889-win64-static.zip)
3. Extract the ffmpeg zip somewhere
4. Put the youtube-dl.exe in the bin folder of ffmpeg
5. Open a windows command prompt and navigate (i.e. change directory) to the bin folder of ffmpeg
6. Run the command "youtube-dl -f bestvideo+bestaudio https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCraGHx6gso"
At the end you will get a file named "Decorator Pattern – Design Patterns (ep 3)-GCraGHx6gso.mkv"

Somehow it doesn't play for me. I am left with a blank screen that says "Playing" at the bottom. I have tried resetting all settings, a complete uninstall and reinstall.
