Media Player Classic - BE is a free and open source audio and video player for Windows.
MPC-BE is based on the original "Media Player Classic" project (Gabest) and "Media Player Classic Home Cinema" project (Casimir666), contains additional features and bug fixes.
Supported Operating Systems:
* Windows 7, Windows 8 32bit/64bit, Windows 8.1 32bit/64bit, Windows 10 32bit/64bit, Windows 11 64bit
System Requirements:
* An SSE2 capable CPU. (Starting from version 1.5.1 build 2631 beta a CPU with SSE2 is required.)
* The latest DirectX 9.0c runtime (June 2010). Install it regardless of the operating system, they all need it.

At long last! I saw the "leak" has the seekbar preview. Gotta try this right away.
Edit: Request: Can you make the filename's font inside the seekbar respect cleartype setting?

Unchecking "Auto-load Subtitles" doesn't disable the internal subtitle renderer or gray out the Subtitles context menu during playback.
Unchecking "Enable built-in audio switcher filter" and restarting MPC-BE doesn't gray out the Audio context menu during playback.

"Auto-load Subtitles" - it's for auto-load external subtitle.
"Enable built-in audio switcher filter" & Audio Context Menu - they are different things, they have nothing in common.

So you're saying those are intentional changes you've made to MPC-BE compared to MPC-HC?
I don't care so much about Audio menu, but there should be a way to completely disable the internal subtitle renderer from loading any subtitles, which also prevents it from being enabled via context menus or hotkeys during playback. In MPC-HC the "Auto-load subtitles" check-box has that function, but it doesn't seem to have been replaced anywhere in MPC-BE.

I don't care how it's work in MPC-HC. But - it's work in MPC-BE. If you uncheck "Auto-load subtitle" - there is no Menu with subtitle list. In popup menu you can show only sub-menu with Subtitle Options.

The problem is that having the Subtitle menu accessible when it's non-functional will lead to confusion when VSFilter or some other subtitle filter is used.

No. It's sub-menu does not interfere VSFilter or other subtitle filter.

Why isn't there a public source repository so we can view individual changes?
Is there a list of changes and bugfixes compared to MPC-HC?

The next three months, the source repository is not available for free access. After a time, we may make the transition from a closed cycle development to the open.
Personally for you, I can grant access because you always acted like a gentleman. :)

At the present moment, the ChangeLog (http://www.xvidvideo.ru/logi-izmeneniy/log-izmeneniy-media-player-classic-be.html) is available in Russian language only.

Thanks for this, I really like that it's darker, less distracting then the old BE mod and putting the time counter on the status bar is a great idea.
One issue is preventing me from switching to it from BE 4360 is save window size and/or position is unreliable, works maybe 50% of the time. I like to watch in full window mode but half the time it's opening as a window with the same resolution of the video. Any chance for a fix?
Also a few requests:
- Use a wider font or bold for time so it's easier to read.
- Option to auto hide title bar, Splayer has this, and while frame only with no borders has some effect, it breaks save window size/position on old be mod and it's also nice to have access to the title bar on demand.
- Option to hide toolbars in window mode, could work just like fullscreen mode hiding.

No. It's sub-menu does not interfere VSFilter or other subtitle filter.
That doesn't make it any less confusing to users.

We upload to public source code for project.

Well, it does say "SVN Build: 1122" in the About window... :P
EDIT:
- Love the seekbar preview feature. Nice touch there! But "Use the preview in the search"? How about something like "Show video preview on the seekbar" (or something similar)?
- MPC-HC's "Output" settings tab looks better.
- Any chance for a "Lite" version?
- Any chance to change the default subtitle rendering resolution to "Desktop"?
- Why doesn't the window auto-resizes to the video's resolution when you open a file? Changed defaults? How do I make it act like it did in MPC-HC?
- Program's icon looks great.
- "Logo" settings tab can be removed IMO.

Thanks for MPC-BE and with some testing have found 2 bugs,
1. SHOUTcast doesn't work both x86 and x64 builds, either through playlist or direct to HTTP stream, MPC-HC was tested in same clean OS and was working.
2. Trying to interact with the GUI as MPC-BE is launching a video file like changing the volume with mouse wheel will crash MPC-BE.
Here is the website for the SHOUTcast streams I am using, http://www.181.fm/index.php?p=mp3links
Here is what I did for a temporary fix for SHOUTcast playback, took the ShoutcastSource.cpp from MPC-HC and correct ifdef to REGISTER_FILTER and compile, works perfectly.

Sorry I wasn't too clear on this and put steps in detail below,
1. Make sure "Use the preview in the search" is enabled.
2. Ensuring MPC is closed launch a video media file via file association, the bigger the file and slower the disk the better to catch this.
3. Before MPC has had a chance to load the media file and display a video frame, attempt to change the volume as quick as you can with the mouse wheel.
4. MPC window should now stall and crash.
I have confirmed this that is happens 100% of the time on multiple systems providing you catch it on time. Disabling "Use the preview in the search" will result in no crashes in the above steps.
I have also noticed other crashes if you interact with the GUI as media is loading but this one is random and cant put down steps to reproduce but I assume this would be the same bug.
Thanks for test - i found bug and fix this.
Thanks, there is also a cosmetic issue that would be nice if it could be fixed.
The option replace file name with title in the title bar to use the meta-data providing by SHOUTcastsource which is is currently only viewable via properties->clip.
Also it would be a nice option if this could also be applied to the seek bar file name option.

I may as well make more bug reports today :)
There has been a long standing bug with file association ever since custom icons where introduced. If you use cmd's /regall, /regvid etc it doesn't honour the AssociatedWithIcon registry key and act's as this was set to 0.
MPC Audio Renderer doesn't output any audio when set to WASAPI in shared mode. Tested with multiple audio outputs and settings. Also in exclusive mode there is a bit of hiss until you seek which then clears it.

At the moment there are three MPC versions on this forum that are hot correct?
1. MPC-HC
2. MPC-BE
3. MPC-HC with internal renderer fixes
How do I know which version is the best/is right for me? For info: I will use MPC only for playing full Blu-Ray rips in .m2ts or BDMV structure folder formats and occasionally for playing .mov 1080p trailers from HDtrailers.net. I want to use madVR as renderer and LAV filters also but I suppose this is possible with all three versions.

13th September 2012, 18:05
If you intend to use madVR as renderer then you don't need "MPC-HC with internal renderer fixes". Main differences between MPC-HC and MPC-BE are interface, and some addon features of MPC-BE. There may be some differences about internal filters of the two, but you want to use LAV Filters so that doesn't matter. Which version is right for you? I think you have to find out yourself.

Hi,
I really like this version of mpc but there is one (for me) major problem: I use middle mousebutton to play/pause the video in all my players, but unbinding left mousebutton in mpc-be removes the ability to move the window when clicking in the video area. Any chance to "fix" that?

Hiding or showing the menu bar should be somewhere in the "Options" window.
By default, the menu bar should be turned ON always :)

Who says that? That orange button on screenshot replaces menu. Why you need 2 menu at once?
In case of this option is implemented, you'll go in options and turn old menu on if you need it. It also should be available by pressing alt of course.

Only madVR and standard EVR can support that.
