If you use EVR-CP or VMR9 Renderless, you must set"d3d9ex flip win7"

it seems you are right, i didn't restart player before trying new settings, but that has nothing to do with mcp-be, so Ill skip further conversation about this topic :sly:

Sorry I wasn't too clear on this and put steps in detail below,
1. Make sure "Use the preview in the search" is enabled.
2. Ensuring MPC is closed launch a video media file via file association, the bigger the file and slower the disk the better to catch this.
3. Before MPC has had a chance to load the media file and display a video frame, attempt to change the volume as quick as you can with the mouse wheel.
4. MPC window should now stall and crash.

I have confirmed this that is happens 100% of the time on multiple systems providing you catch it on time. Disabling "Use the preview in the search" will result in no crashes in the above steps.
I have also noticed other crashes if you interact with the GUI as media is loading but this one is random and cant put down steps to reproduce but I assume this would be the same bug.

The above was made with a clean system with this being the 1st run/setup of MPC-BE. The 1st run I missed the timing but the 2nd was good, where when changing the volume while MPC-BE's status bar was saying opening.

I confirm, I was able to replicate this problem.

VipZ, if not difficult for you, then perform the test on all types of renderer in mpc-be.

VMR7 W - harder to produce by dropping files quickly onto window and changing volume, possibly something totally different

EVR Custom is by far the easiest of the lot to produce the bug.

Thanks, with this build I cant seem to generate a crash with changing volume any more. Could I make a suggestion in that maybe disable dropping media onto window while media is loading loading as well to prevent crashing in that regard?

If playing say an MP3 or FLAC audio file, it would be nice to say ARTIST - TRACK vs the current TRACK (YEAR) or even make this configurable?

Small suggestion. Maybe you want to hide menu by default and instead make this button that firefox (and some other software) uses? But using black color of course =)

The point of this is visual upgrade not functional. If there is normal menu, probably someone needs it. So this button is a cool replacement. And it is not hard to implement, especially if you have projects you can copypaste it from. Personally I don't even use any MPC player :D

Some people have managed to play DVD with madvr (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=159492) using the ffdshow video renderer and non-default DVD player libraries according to several posts in the forum so changing it without even asking the user is not a very good move in my opinion.

I thought for a second that I had finally managed to make DVD work with madvr, but was very disappointed when I saw it was changed to EVR.

Agree with Sam on this and I suspect other users will too, please change back the default behavior. Most people know what they're doing when they're running MadVR.

There is a 0.1% of user can/be managed to work DVD with MadVR. Other 99.9% - give a error/hang while try watch DVD+MadVR.
How do I do in this situation ?

I think - i make options to replace or not MadVR for DVD playback.

I can get MadVR to work with DVD's with either the ffdshow decoder, mpc mpeg2 low merit decoder, and even the microsoft dtv-dvd video decoders. All it takes is setting up the dslibdvdnav directshow filter + un-encrypted DVD's (various methods of doing this even with encrypted DVD's).

This is not that big of a deal, just thought I'd post about it, it's rare when I actually still watch DVD's nowadays. You making the option to replace or not MadVR for DVD playback would do the trick!

Everything else about MPC-BE has been great, keep up the amazing work and your development is much appreciated. :)

The sub renderer of mpc-hc is broken with some blu-ray since the start of blu-ray subs support two or 3 years ago.

The same problem is still present in mpc Be.

P.S. - I understand what you mean - when multiple PGS subtitle do not show at the same time. I know about this problem and maybe some times can fix this. :)

Answer is, devs doesn't agree on the direction where it should be developed and by what methods. At this time BE seems to know where its going, and HC only pretends its moving somewhere. JanWillem32 have its own fork. Its not re-branded just called "test" or whatever, but lets face it, its a fork. (I wouldn't mind if it will be called MPC-JW though ^__^)

I have problem with MPC-BE 1.0.3.0, when I enable launch files in fullscreen and exit player middle of playback. After that when I start MPC-BE it starts in fullscreen mode, and I can't get it in to windowed mode, it stays in fullscreen, no matter what I do.

Most likely you have enabled D3D fullscreen.

This is GREAT idea :)

Now it is little weird - bottom toolbar is black (or another custom color) and menubar is in default color (silver, blue-ish...).

BTW, even in FF you can make it black with Stratiform (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stratiform/).

I used the "old" MPC-BE and I knew that updates to MPC-HC would be included in it, so is it still the same?
Also a small suggestion, I think the option "Auto-zoom" should be enabled at default (at 100%), I find it more "natural" to see the opened video in its actual size. Also I don't know if it's a bug or intended but the OSD doesn't show on music while it does for videos, since the album art is shown the window is open and so it makes sense to show the OSD.

1) MPC-BE don't use the new MPC-HC output page from Armada651
2) There is no update checker
3) The "zoom auto fit larger" option is missing in MPC-BE
4) The embedded resources viewer of MPC-HC is missing
