As these urls are only valid for a short period of time, it's best you download youtube-dl (https://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/download.html) to generate a full hls-playlist-url yourself. Then enter:

I am having trouble loading external subtitles (.srt). This problem only arises when the external .srt is the only subtitle available. The result is the same whether I use the internal subtitle renderer or Xy-Subfilter.

I have MPC-HC installed on the same machine and it always loads the .srt file for the same video. Here, the subtitle renderer is Xy-Subfilter.

Is there something I am missing in set-up to load external subtitle files?

Update to the latest 1.4.4.93 nightly build (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpcbe/files/MPC-BE/Nightly%20Builds%20%28from%20svn%20trunk%29/MPC-BE%20v1.4.4%20%28build%2093%29%20beta/) and select XySubFilter under MPC-BE options->subtitles drop-down box. If you were using an older MPC-BE build like the 1.4.3 stable release, there was an issue where you would need to add XySubFilterAutoLoader to external filters and set it to prefer, if you had the MPC-BE internal audio decoder enabled. This has since been resolved in nightly.

I saw that the new beta has several different resizers now with EVR.CP.... What is everyone finding gives the least artifacts yet sharpest picture? Until now I always use Bicubuic 0.75 (which is now labeled as Bicubic 0.8) By the naming alone, you would think the spline4 would be it, but it seems to produce a very soft picture. To my eyes it seems the Perlin Smootherstep produces the sharpest picture but with a bit too much ringing/aliasing for my taste. For now I'm sticking with the Bicubic 0.8

Perlin Smootherstep + downscale = Horrible aliasing

Within the 3 different spline4's, I think Catmull-Rom produces the sharpest image(at least in my vision), but it is not "attractive" enough for me to change from Bicubic.

If it's possible to have DXVA resize, I think it would be a piece of good news for some GPU's.

It's a bit wrong after r72. In any case, Perlin Smootherstep is bad for a typical video.

This is possible, but we do not know how to do it. MS gives very little information about it.

Vanilla EVR uses DXVA resize, that's why its performance is much better than EVR-CP, especially with old cpu&gpu.

Hi everyone,

I asked for this earlier, but I don't think I got a reply, so I'll try again :)

Would it be possible to have an option to not display the file name of the file playing when playback starts, without having to disable OSD?

It would allow for a much nicer integration with software like MyMovies etc. I love the OSD, which is very useful to quickly check for remaining time etc, but displaying the file name is not great on an HTPC.

At the moment I have to disable OSD as it's the only way not to display the file name when playback starts.

Thanks for considering adding this option!

And more importantly thanks for all your great work.

Regarding to WASAPI (Exclusive) output.
I suppose it works in push (sync) only mode now. Does it make sence to add an option to work in pull (aka "event style") mode to match perfectly with asynchronous USB DACs? Not that I have any issues with my XMOS based DAC and current WASAPI Exclusive implementation now but though.

Hi

I use a an app on Android called bsplayer and it automatically searches the web for subtitle when you load a video and brings up a list of possible matches. Then you pick one and it loads the subtitle. It'd be awesome if mpc-be had the same capability.
