With Win11 24H2, if you go to "System > Display > Color Management" and enable "Automatically manage color for apps", MPC-BE does not auto-switch to HDR anymore and continues playing HDR videos in SDR only.
I don't remember seeing this option in Win11 23H2.

With "Automatically manage color for apps" disabled, HDR videos auto-switch to HDR like they always do.

Found similar issues logged for MPV and HDRTray as well:
https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/14567
https://github.com/res2k/HDRTray/issues/13

Please let me know if you need any debug data from my system, and also let me know how to get it. Happy to help

Auto Color Management is sort of a "fake" HDR. Do not enable it if you want to use real HDR.

Supporting ACM requires using new API function from 24H2 SDK:

I was watching a lot of old 4:3 tv shows on OLED TV and it started to develop a mild burn in where the edges of 4:3 frame are. As a measure to avoid making a burn in even worse, I started to use Menu-View-Video Frame-Override Aspect Ratio-16:9 while watching the 4:3 content.
Obviously, picture distortion lowers the overall experience and I remembered how the old TVs used to have "smart stretch" non linear resize where central part of the picture is not as stretched as the edges. After some digging on google, I found a handy HLSL shader that can be used in MPC-BE:
https://github.com/sickgreg/Realtime-Superview-Stretch/releases/tag/V3.0

I added it as a post resize shader and it does look much better than linear 4:3->16:9 resize we can activate from the view menu.

My question is, is there any way to automate forcing the picture resize to 16:9 and enabling Post resize shaders with 1 key ? Ideally by hitting that key second time would disable Post resize shaders and set override aspect ratio to default.

I don't understand what you mean by 'first page'?

I can find 'options' by selecting the 'View' tab but can't find anything in the top left corner.
Options->Player, then "New process for every file"

Havnt been working for me though since I upgraded to Windows 11, havnt updated MPC-BE in a while though, so might be fixed.

1. As Klaus1189 correctly noted, if you have problems with subtitles, you need to upload these subtitles.
2. If the subtitles are not in UTF-8 encoding, be sure to tell us what encoding they are in. What is the language of the subtitles?
3. Also provide your Windows locale.

MPC Video Renderer 0.8.7.2295 (https://github.com/Aleksoid1978/VideoRenderer/releases/tag/0.8.7)

Changes:
Cosmetic fixes to the settings window.
Statistics font size now scales according to Windows text scale.
Improved handling of switching the display to and from HDR mode.
Added the "Adjust the frame presentation time" setting. The feature without setting was added earlier in the 0.7.3 release for smooth viewing of interlaced video on high-frequency displays.
Fixed work with HDR modes when the "Automatically manage color for apps" option is enabled in Windows 11 24H2.

PS: MPC Video Renderer 0.8.7 is included in the MPC-BE 1.7.3.121 installer.

Does anyone else find that using shift-F5 for Save Image (Auto) with MPC-VR doesn't save the same image as shown on the screen?
I'm finding I have to go to the next keyframe to get the previous keyframe's image. I've found this to be the case even when I tried it out a year ago.

What filters do you use?
Such as external decoders, external video renderer, ...?

Does a crash report really contain source file info? And/or other personal info?
You can send a link of an uploaded crash to devs via pm. No need to make it public.
Also hardware info such as GPU and driver version is really useful for devs.
