No idea why the author/team rejected the idea specifically, but I would hate for delete to delete files from my drive inside a video player. Video players are not file managers. :p

Maybe they just had a similar attitude to me and didn't want to put any effort into a feature they didn't like?

It's just a simple keybind. You don't have to use or even activate it. Here's a scenario: you have a hundred of phone videos to sort through. You start playing them, press DELETE on the one you don't like, and seamlessly move onto the next one. No need to exit/alt-tab the player, compare the filenames, or do anything else. Now replace "phone videos" with "music", "video playlist", or "my personal pr0n collection", and I'm sure even you will see how something like this has enough efficiency to make it worth it.

Again, not really pushing for it. Just saying that I use it on MPC-HC all the time.

Interestingly, that is very rarely a workflow I need to perform. I usually know what my videos are and whether I want them. When looking through an old ripping directory or something I have a windowed player next to a file explorer and use the file explorer to do file management, like moving, deleting, etc. Only delete isn't very useful for me and more is too complex to put in a video player.

I can see the utility for others, but I would not use it myself. :o

You can delete files from the playlist using Shift + Delete.
Yes. MPC-BE is not a file manager, easy and quick file deletion will not be done for ideological reasons.

I also noticed that some users do not study the player's capabilities at all. They don't even look at what settings are there.

Unfortunately, a lot of people have the attitude of "I don't need it..." I'm sure most people don't need or use half of the various features in most programs, that doesn't mean many others don't find them useful. Everyone has different needs, but so many get wrapped up in what they need and their own workflow. Of course, it's ultimately up to the developers as to what actually gets implemented, all we can do is ask. As for your particular use case, I'd recommend trying XnViewMP. I think it would work perfectly for you, perhaps even better than MPC-HC.

Not sure what you mean by "look for the wrong player," and if I could make my own then I would, but that's far beyond my abilities. So I do what I can: make suggestions/requests and hope the devs agree enough to implement them. Hopefully they do, so I can switch to this as my main player, but if not, that's their call, and I'll just continue using PotPlayer until I can find a suitable replacement.

You are not the first newbie to teach how to make players. This behavior is not to the liking of the developers. I'd rather lose you as a user than fulfill your wishes (I don't want that).
In addition, you have not even figured out the available functionality. Here are 3 features that are already in the player (I noticed one myself, two prompted me):
2. Make player dock to screen edges.
7. Increasing playback rate results in chipmunk audio, making it a more-or-less useless feature. It should be able to play the audio normally at a faster speed.
15. Thumbnails over seek bar when hovering over it.
2 and 15 is a quick look at the settings. 7 has already been discussed more than once in this thread, and elsewhere.

4. LAV Splitter has option to create a separate track for forced PGS subtitles. This allows you to toggle between full/forced/off.
7. MPC-HC internal audio renderer has pitch correction. If MPC-BE doesn't have it, then that should be added.
9. MPC-HC has this option.

I found a .mov video that plays fine in mpc-hc and vlc, but mpc-be will crash for about 30 seconds before playing the file. Mpc-hc & vlc do not crash at all when trying to play the .mov file. The .mov file can be downloaded here -

And this is not planned to be changed in the near future.This is a bad move since every single player I looked into does this and there are many MKVs using multi-angles. This is one of the best features and it makes no sense to keep 2 separate files if you can have one and just switch the content. No one uses MPEG containers anymore.

Appreciate the input, and for this reason I am going back to MPC-HC. I can't watch titles like Star Trek: TOS (which I happen to have in both versions - original and remastered) another way.

Yeah by switching to HC all you're doing is changing to LAV Source anyway. Using BE is the way to go.

It is shown only when you enter fullscreen mode, and mostly on 2.35:1 movies, I'm on 3440x1440p monitor and it crops the picture vertically. That is why I'm using it.

For resources, this symbol must be duplicated, otherwise it will be defined as the end of the block and part of the line will be lost during synchronizations (txt->rc->txt). But there are situations when duplication does not help (recently there was a problem with the German translation). In this case, you can use other types of quotes (for example, single quotes).
