Yeah, the compiler should generate exactly the same file(s). No?
No. The compiler adds metadata (like compilation time) that will be different for different compilations.

But if you look at the total size of the contents of these archives, it will be the same. It looks like one archive compressed better than the other.

Just came to say that if you use MPC-BE in conjunction with MPC Video Renderer and an NVIDIA GPU you may experience frame drops if you enabled low latency mode in NVIDIA control panel (it wasn't the case before, took me a good hour to find the problem, all good now).

For me all is good :)

I found a few videos with a strange phenomenon: When I start them out of the "Far manager" to let MPC-BE play them, the player opens, seems to try to load for a few seconds, then vanishes. When I open the Windows Explorer and call the video from there, the player takes a lot longer and then starts the video successfully.

I found only a few videos yet, they have different containers and codecs, also no suspicious characters (another video with almost the same name in a series plays fine, even videos with Asian characters do).

Unfortunately I can't share these videos. But may there be a debug build which could help me narrow down a reason on my PC?

Hi! My first reply here, and sorry if it's already been reported. Since about a month ago, there has been a strange white line if I hover my mouse over the buttons. Please see the screenshots here: https://imgur.com/a/mpc-be-lines-on-buttons-WZBYEr8

The screenshots were taken a month ago when I was using 1.8.0.20 dev. Now I'm using 1.8.1.24 dev, and the problem still persists.

That curve in the bottom image looks a lot like they are UI elements, round top left corner and upper border of a window or maybe OSD.

Yes, I assumed so too. The screenshots were taken under default setting. I guess it may be a glitch either in my Windows (11 Insider Preview Canary) or in my Intel driver (Arc).

LigH

Then my bet goes to the drivers. Please try to report the exact graphic chipset model and driver version, maybe that helps finding similar issues.

Does anyone here use a 32-bit player?

Starting around November 16, the "windows-2022" components were updated on GitHub. After that, new 32-bit builds do not work correctly on some machines.
However, your local 32-bit builds compiled in Visual Studio 2022 (MSVC 19.42.34433) may work correctly.

The issue affects builds from https://github.com/qwerttvv/Player/releases

PS: There are also problems in other projects (https://github.com/actions/runner-images/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+20241113.3.0) after the "windows-2022" update.

Few people use the 32-bit edition of Windows anymore.

It may have already been discussed here:
Perhaps an equalizer would be useful in the program if there was one?

Almost all sound card drivers (external and built-in) have an equalizer.
Use it.

I do, especially when I playback some old files with kind of special audio encoding which only have 32-bit codec available.

Builds from qwerttvv (http://x86 builds from qwerttvv) are now built using "windows-2019" components.
There are no more errors in 32-bit versions. Checked on MPC-BE 1.8.1.36 (https://github.com/qwerttvv/Player/releases/tag/2024.11.26-2105).

The MadVR testpatternsource ytp files are an example. The .ax dll for it is 32-bit only.

I found a few videos with a strange phenomenon: When I start them out of the "Far manager" to let MPC-BE play them, the player opens, seems to try to load for a few seconds, then vanishes.

Same happens when I launch them via start in a CMD (which calls the same EXE which is assigned to the file type as the Windows Explorer would do on a double-click).

I found about a dozen videos now which don't work; other videos with pretty much the same format, some even from a series from the same author, do launch correctly. Most are AVC+AAC in MP4, one is Xvid+MP3 in AVI.

Klaus1189
26th November 2024, 20:05
Can you provide a sample for devs now?
What GPU and what driver?
Are you using hardware decoder? If so, what happens when using software decoder?
Any external filters like madVR or LAV Filters?

LigH
26th November 2024, 20:16
No public samples. I will test if I can crop them to a minimum where it still happens...

Nvidia GeForce 1660 Super; driver version 560.94; in case of the AVC-MP4: D3D11 Native, H.264, no FGT; MPC-VR, MPC-AR

Please note, again, that playback works flawlessly if I launch the exact same file from the Windows Explorer. It is not a playback issue, rather a player-loading issue.

Do you have a debug build which logs every step from starting the player executable to starting the playback (e.g. enumerating filters)?

Took me a while to discover it is an ancient "Vorbis ACM" codec (before the format got finalized)... quite probably famous in the Anime fansub scene, decades ago.

MPC Video Renderer 0.8.9.2318 (https://github.com/Aleksoid1978/VideoRenderer/releases/tag/0.8.9)

Changes:
Added support for YUV420P10, YUV422P10, YUV444P10, GBRP10 and Y10 formats using MEDIASUBTYPE_LAV_RAWVIDEO.
Added clarification when the "Convert to SDR" setting will work.
"Super Resolution" will only be enabled for 8-bit video due to driver limitations.
Added the ability to work with incorrect YUV frames (4:2:0/4:2:2 with odd dimensions).
Recommended MPC-BE 1.8.1.43 or newer.

PS: MPC Video Renderer 0.8.9 is included in the MPC-BE 1.8.1.59 installer.

Hello! I have a request.
Is it possible to make it so that only the name of the video is displayed in the title bar?
Currently, the app name and version name are displayed after the video name.
It's easier to see without it.
Thank you!

When moving the frame with Ctrl+Numpad4 and Ctrl+Numpad7, when it goes out of the window, it either goes black, freezes or gets distorted. There is sound, but when I reset with Numpad5 and reopen the video, the frame comes back.

Same problem with different combinations like zooming in/out with Ctrl+Numpad1/Ctrl+Numpad9 and then moving with Ctrl+Numpad7/Ctrl+Numpad4.

I believe varekai made screenshots from the Start menu (which pops up when you click the Window icon), and v0lt made a screenshot from the task bar.

Might be that MPC-BE has an application icon with a higher resolution which MPC-HC does not have. I know a similar effect from Thunderbird.

If you want smaller icons just delete the following files in MPC-BE folder:
70.png, 150.png and mpc-be64.VisualElementsManifest.xml

These files were added intentionally for a bigger icon in Start.

Hi guys,

Using MPC-BE x64 v1.8.2.17 Portable, Win 11 24H2.
The player doesn't keep the "Preferred video format" settings after exiting. If I select e.g. MP4-AV1 it works as expected, but if I exit and reopen the player, it returns to MP4-H.264.

Regards!
