Thank you for the tip. I'm actually trying to set a default start directory so that when I select the File>"Open file/URL..." entry in the menu, that directory will be the first one shown and then I would navigate from there to any other directory.

I did find an incompatibility issue with MPC-BE (last several builds tested), madVR and Nvidia Fast Sync (vertical sync option). With it enabled, MPC-BE will crash as soon as a video is started. Videos will start if EVR is used as a renderer.
MPC-CE isn't affected by the Nvidia Fast Sync option.

Nothing really for the devs to fix, just throwing this info out there in case someone finds immediate crashes with MPC-BE and they have Fast Sync enabled in the Nvidia drivers. Problem goes away when Fast Sync is disabled. :)

I tried MPC-BE 1.5.1 (build 2985) and MPC-BE 1.5.1 (build 2755) with the same result. Of course, a lot of things can cause this to happen that are specific to my hardware and software. I'm running the latest Windows 10 Pro on the current retail version, AMD Ryzen 1800x and using a Nvidia gtx 1080. It might only happen on a 1080 card and I haven't tried on a different graphic card. It could happen to some and not others or maybe no one else. Lots of software / hardware variables out there!

Nightly builds is not signed - limitation use of certificate, now it use USB token and need a PIN code for every use. Can't do automatical build and upload the project.

hi all, i'm new with MPC-BE and sorry for my english!

my HTPC:

I5 760 socket 1156
6 gb DDR ram 1600
motherboard ASUS P7H55D-M PRO
GPU EVGA 1050 FTW 2GB GDDR5
SSD 256 evo

my tv:
LG 65B6V

i always used mpc-hc+madvr but now playing 4k video "the film goes to shots", "is not smooth"...
I was looking for a guide to set correctly, and i read with in some codec the load is demanded to the cpu...so i think i have to change CPU-Motherboard and Ram.

Today i remove all software and i try MPC-BE, ho well, it play good everything, the ISO too...without any codec!

What is strange, but mybe i'm wrong, is:

- if i install and use Madvr i didnt see the 4k video go fluid, same....stops and starts again..
- same with lav filters

its normal?
I have to set something in with Madvr or lav filters?

Your problem is not in MPC-BE, but in hardware and madVR. Use programs to measure CPU, RAM, GPU, Video memory.

CPU is the most loaded, almost all...
without madVR or LAV Filters all play good and well!

like i supposed is the CPU.....

Would like to report that Internal sub renderer still renders some ass subtitles out of video window frame if playback is not full screen. Does not happen with other external sub renderer. Below is a screenshot and a sample for playback.

Not sure what settings you are talking about?
The only setting I know in mpc-be that affects position of ass subtitles is "position subtitles relative to the video frame". If that is left unchecked, all subtitles position will be off. Either way, both are also rendered out of video window frame.

If I use madvr and enable "delay playback until renderer is full" the taskbar indicator (is it called that way?) displays pause and yellow color progress of file. Is that something that can be fixed? In MPC-BE or madvr?

That taskbar indicator is not known to me. It's probably MPC-BE's? If so, you may need to talk to the MPC-BE devs about this problem.

I can't remember exactly. I think it is broken start from around 1.4.X.

And on MPC-HC, at least it was still normal in 1.6.X.

I am not sure if it is really related to the "improvement" at that time, but the both MPC-HC and MPC-BE broke the same thing in around 2014-2015, so it should be something shared in the two players.

I recently switched from MPC-HC and the only feature I miss so far is the titles of the chapters being displayed when hovering with the mouse on each chapter section on the seek bar. I have many live concerts divided in chapters, with each chapter containing one song and having the title of the chapter displayed over the seek bar makes finding a specific song much easier. Are there any plans to implement something similar?
