Are you accustomed to some very functional playlist from a audio player? Here this will not be, reduce the requirements. If you are not satisfied with the MPC-BE work, then you do not need to gripe, you may better look for another player.

Filters currently loaded:
- MPC Audio Renderer
- madVR Renderer
- Audio Switcher
- MPC Video Decoder
- MPC Audio Decoder
- LAV Splitter Source

I use a Geforce 3080 Ti with the 511.79 drivers. The problem has been happening for some time now across multiple drivers.

I noticed that Lav Splitter Source was loaded so I uninstalled Lav filters. Now I cannot playback the 4k Bluray disc (Cannot render the file), but I can play a copy of a 4K Bluray I ripped as MKV to my hard drive. Funny thing is I am sure playback on disc using MPC-BE internal filters worked last year.

-> All source filters and decoder filters should be enabled (except 3D, which is not installed by default, since it is a separate download)

But I don't know what codec your video is, I suspect H.265/HEVC, but I am not sure.

If that does not help, reset settings like @Aleksoid1978 advised.

If you have special settings you wanna keep, you could backup your settings before reset and go back to them.
If the reset does not help, you can go back, but if it helps, delete the old settings file, it is not campatible anymore or corrupt or else.

hmm, im not sure whats happening , maybe it was regional (germany here)

allthough i did test with the Browser too and there the video was fine.

now i tried again and it somehow works now again, if i start watching a video MPCBE does 1.5 - 3 mb/s downlaod for a sec then starts. no stutter..

before it was only getting 200kb/s no matter what i tried.
diff. video players, etc.

but still, the browser worked fine. so it wasnt my network.

still very strange, testing now for 20 minutes and the video runs fine. even the 60Fps ones.

im really confused, it was 3 days like this.


anyway, i guess it works again and maybe was a regional thing/issue..

nahhh, AV1 works fine for me. i used it before up to 4k 30fps and it worked fine.. it wasnt the Codec from what i can tell, i tested em all ;)

im still curious what it was though...

And I have just found out a possible bug. The ass subtitles are possibly not scaled correctly in some cases. (It is even not correct in its native resolution. It is correct when the frame size is small though.)

Didn't look into this specific sample, but by design MPC-BE has a font-size limit and doesn't handle a font size that is too big - for example maybe. {\fs400}
A possible workaround may be {\fs100\fscx400\fscy400}

Another possible issue: there may be renderer incompatibilities about the drawing command, especially greater than \p1 (\p2, \p3, \p4, etc) when used with \pbo.

Yes, too large font size causes problems. Use ScaleX/ScaleY to make things bigger instead.

Thank you for your advice. The workaround works indeed. VSFilter(no longer supported) also has similar problem, but XySubFilter works probably correctly (or at least better).

MPC ASS rendering is ok for casual watching (simple movie sub positioning, such as {\an8}) but it's hit and miss with complex effects such as the so called zooming karaoke style.

For anime, I use Masaiki (https://github.com/Masaiki/xy-VSFilter) filter and never went back.

I can't find any info on this though I'm not sure what to call it. Does MPC have a 'silent' or 'quiet' mode? I re-record portions of videos (with a screen recorder) I play with MPC in full-screen mode but I don't want the white text on black background in the top-left that lists "Play", "Pause", the video minutes/secs, etc. Is there a way to shut that off?

To "open" a folder, try to double-click on it (JavaScript needed). Then select a file in the left pane, and the content is shown in the right pane.

To download an archive (7z), you can select (highlight) the file name by single-clicking on it, and click the right big button in the top bar that says "To download" (скачать). That works for me.

With internal decoders the PCM's multichannel are played ok, the LAV filters non support multichannel wav files or PCM multichannel muxed in mkv container at this moment.

I don't recommend forcing the use of LAV Filters over the built-in filters. Especially if you don't know what you need it for. But you can install LAV Filters on your system, which will allow you to use LAV Splitter Source for HLS and some rare formats.

You can use WASAPI Shared, DirectSound or add an external ffdshow audio processor.

digi340: I am curious why you would want to do such a thing? The center channel is where a lot of vocal audio is placed these days. I don't know the reason why someone might want the vocal audio to come out of the sub instead.

A bit odd though, not much low frequency stuff in the center channel.

it only seems to happen if i enable the AMD audio on my laptop, and try to play an AC-3 file 5.1 with the ENCODE TO AC-3 option on (if i use passthrough it works but i cannot control the volume using the pc)

mpc-be 1.6.2.6958 works, but any others right up to 1.6.2.6995 lock up.

On my new audio 5.1 system, the center is inverted with subwoofer. On direct sound audio output windows mixer are setting to swap center / subwoofer, but not work in wasapi audio output.
if I connect the system according to the scheme the center is heard in the subwoofer and vice versa.

Use it. But you don't want to use Shared mode and other solutions. There is nothing else we can do to help you.

digi340: Watch this setup video for your system https://youtu.be/_ounn-NFYM0. They all seem to be colour-coded, just disconnect everything and do it exactly in the same sequence as they're doing it. The sub has printed labels saying S.W., F.L., S.L., etc.

If the cabling is truly correct, then one thing you could try, the mpc-be settings, audio>audio renderer>MPC audio renderer>properties, check on (or off) "Use system layout channels". See if that does anything after having already verified the cabling.
