@johnniedoo
Player settings are changed with the development. We are sorry, but it was necessary.
Of the latter, we have changed the configuration file and DVD positions and all video renderer settings.
I do not know why you do not change the settings without administrative rights. It is very strange.
I advise you to store settings in the registry (not the player folder) and use the latest version 1.5.1.
thanks, I appreciate the info.. I am admin in my computer, just me uses it. never was any issue as i make some changes all the time with in a profile and never saw any failures till now. I have clicked off the run as admin for both 32 and 64 players and all seems ok now. my mistake for overlooking yet another thing since I got windows 10 pro.

Greetings,
I am looking for a best way to run two instances of MPC-BE with different settings.
I have MPC-BE installed already, so I guess the only way is to have another instance with different settings not installed but run as a portable application with the option to store settings in .ini file.
Is this the best/correct way?
Thanks.

Why not use EVR CP?
no proper DXVA scaling on none intel cards.

In which specific case, this should happen ?
GTX 970 (GM204)
EVR-CP DXVA2 Downscaling
http://i1.sendpic.org/t/yx/yxGiNYMwzFe39HoeQO5jTvEbtmR.jpg (http://sendpic.org/view/1/i/o9fuKyKfvzD1WhGAKnO0LghpGgx.png)
MadVR DXVA2 Downscaling

There is some difference in the chroma result indeed but it wouldn't indicate DXVA2 on EVR-CP is failing also compared in the GPU Usage overall it doesn't seem the case only that there is some visible zoom difference in the blur perception, wherever that is coming from exactly.
In this specific case MadVR has a overall slightly higher Sharpness Perception result.

downscaling is most likely bilinear or something similar on all 3.
CruNcher
27th January 2017, 21:23
Yes the blurrier result seems to indicate a less sharp kernel but where this is coming from exactly in the processing and final output needs to be looked further into, overhead difference included i personaly would indeed prefer overall the MadVR Result on these pretty basic generic setup of it instead of the EVR-CP DXVA2 result for Playback of especially higher quantized input.
huhn
27th January 2017, 21:27
there is no need to test if the developer said it isn't implemented.
CruNcher
27th January 2017, 21:52
Uh damit i had MadVR Debanding on Low so those results are rather partly flawed though the Debanding overall should have everything but a sharpening effect on downscaling ;)
So yeah no interpolation though FSW/E the difference at Native res content is obviously non existent.
v0lt
28th January 2017, 13:44
On the Intel card works DXVA2 interpolation for RGB surfaces.
Nvidia uses DXVA2 interpolation for NV12, YV12 and YUY2 surfaces only. EVR-CP can not use these surface for additional processing.

I'd like to switch from MPC HC to MPC BE for various reasons but often I click the image to pause it and the player thinks I'm trying to drag the window, so it doesn't pause, wich is incredibly annoying and happens to me all the time. Is there a way to revert this vehaviour to the way HC does it? Otherwise please consider this a feature request.
Thanks so much!

you can drag the window on mpc hc with the left mouse too. they work the same.
But you can configure HC to not do it by changing the pause mouse button to "Left Down". -I just checked- Been using HC for so long like this, that I thought this was the default behaviour.
Anyway In BE the default is already "Left Down" and changing it doesn't solve my issue.
I can't bear it. :o
Edit: Oh, and in fact it's always "Left Up" in BE, no matter how it's set. And if you set it to "Left Up" for the full screen mouse button, then clicking does nothing in full screen, so the key is definitely bugged.

I tried with primary sound and my hdmi receiver. No sound out of mpc renderer. Directsound renderer worked but had a lot of glitches and such. Reclock renderer is working perfectly, but I'd like to get back to mpc renderer as I don't need more programs to go wrong.

A couple of questions...
Please forgive me as I haven't read all 105 pages.
Why isn't RARFileSource integrated into MPC-BE like it is on MPC-HC? As it stands now this doesn't really work properly on MPC-BE using external LAV Filters. If you set RARFileSource to "prefer" then it works fine on rar files. But, if you play a non-rar file then the video will not play at all, it's blocked by RARFileSource because it's not a rar file. Is there any workaround to this problem besides going into the settings and enabling/disabling RARFileSource before every time you want to play a file?
Any way to change the playback time on the OSD from descending to ascending like MPC-HC?
Edit: Never mind on the 1st question. I got it to work on both rar and non-rar by changing the merit around a bit. Still curious why it's not integrated into the default build of MPC-BE though. Pretty much every player (MPC-HC, Kodi, VLC, ect) can play rar files out of the box.

Never associate archive files with the media player, picture viewer, or other similar program. Open files via the menu, or use drag-and-drop.

The problem is the option is there to scale to 16:9 but that same option is not mappable to a keyboard shortcut. Mce Remote key etc.

View->Options->Keys->Next AR Preset :p
And you can delete unnecessary presets.
I just tried that, unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be doing anything toggling through the presets. For instance, watching a normal movie, if I use view pan and scan, scale to 16:9 tv, it will throw the heads of the people half way off the screen which it should do because normally you would only be using it with 2.35:1 content. When I use the Next AR Preset, I'm watching it switch between the different presets but that 16:9 movie isn't actually stretching.
The workaround is using p&S increase height which does have a key map but I have to push it 14 times on my remote and I've tried to setup a macro but it usually doesn't end up working correctly on the remote.

@v0lt, are you a developer of Media Player Classic - BE? If you could check out the pause bug that affects me I would really appreciate it.
Also anyone else, please confirm the bug I reported that makes it impossible to configure MPC BE to pause the video while pressing down the mouse on the video image -as opposed to releasing it-.
It's a bug on Options -> Player -> Keys -> Play/Pause. The 2 mouse columns don't do what they are supposed to do when "Left Down" is selected. It does not happen on MPC HC.

I can confirm the bug is intermittent. Sometimes, but not always, when clicking on video during playback, it does not pause as expected. Restarting the player can fix it. Only tested on Windows 10.

So you guys get the pause when pressing down, or when releasing the button? If the setting is 'Left Down' (default) it should be the former.

Aleksoid1978, the default is 'Left Down' which means the video should pause before you have a chance to drag. No matter what setting you use here: -Left Down or Left Up-
http://i.imgur.com/nwLoQlO.png
It won't ever pause while the mouse is still down (unlike MPC HC). And that's a problem because a very minimum accidental drag of the mouse while clicking, will cause MPC BE to "think" you're trying to drag the window, failing to pause/unpause the video.
It's not about which setting is better, I'm reporting a bug that prevents freedom of choice, and I think/hope it's fairly easy to fix by copying the original code.

I also experienced something similar but only if the CPU is under full load (by the Decoder mostly) and all cores get used it can take some time before it accepts the pause call (latency before the mouse input pause message reaction can be some seconds in that high full core CPU Utilization case) at all happens especially in combination with MadVRs queue but im pretty sure it is a overall priority thread issue of who wins when the CPU is around the 90% edge and interrupts high.
Giving MPC-BE the higher priority overall seems no good solution at all, it causes a lot of problems above normal with external multithreaded filters especially.
