Once again, Youtube is causing problems. Now the entire playlist of some albums does not work anymore. Affected are both the internal web parser and Youtube-dl. The Youtube-dl error message refers to country restrictions, but I can play the playlist with Firefox.
On the other hand if I turn off "Load playlist" in MPC-BE a single video from the playlist will work.

There is nothing to do in this situation. Playback is restricted in some country. FF maybe use VNP/Proxy.

No, look at before and after screenshots of MPC-HC, they updated the UI. MPC-BE is still using old HC UI when not using dark mode.

:) @ryrynz talks about this: run mpc-hc and run mpc-be with disabling the the dark skin. (There's no such setting in mpc-hc.)

I'm not doing this because you can't perform the simple task of comparing Mpc-be sans dark mode vs mpc-hc.. It's a simple thing to do, sorry if you can't manage it.

I see that and BE is way better and I hope it will not be changed anytime soon !!

Edit: Tested also the latest stable (zip, not installer) and on my system it looks almost identical to BE.

To get the Dark Theme bright or silver there are color sliders which can be used to get a bright color.

MPC-BE ISR and MPC-BE VSFilter partially use the same code. We do not use libass.

I did some trial and error with duckduckgo's regional search and found out that the link from U2/Gloria https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rz86ymSCY8w is the North America, China and international version
and the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imOAtaYw8A0 is mainly for European countries, Russia, Japan, Australia ...
I assume that MPC-BE doesn't make a region check and therefore Youtube delivered the international link regardless of which country it is in.

the rendering from VS filter is considered the correct way and libass was doing it wrong in the past so there was no choice this topic should be older then MPC-BE it self.
and libass didn't have a directshow filter for like "ever".

on top of it libass is made for ASS and xy subfilter for most types of subtitles and supports PGS for example.

I remember there was a very strange subtitle file, in which one line was several megabytes in size. If this line is drawn as a sequence of images and compressed into PNG, then the images will have a smaller size. :)

the hard part in ass subs is moving parts(there is more of cause) that don'T need a lot of lines at least for real usage.

Just found out something curious. I tried to associate MPC-BE with a couple more formats. I checked the checkboxes, clicked Apply, then OK but nothing changed.

Upon closer examination I found that if I clicked Apply and did not click OK, the respective keys (in this case mpc-be64.m3u, mpc-be64.pls etc.) were created under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.
As soon as I clicked OK in the options window, the keys disappeared from the registry. Clicking OK without clicking Apply first associated the format just fine and the change stayed.

I don't know if it's a Windows thing (7 Ultimate here) or something to do with MPC-BE (4105).

TL;DR If you have trouble associating formats in MPC-BE, do not click Apply first, just click OK.

Start button > Settings > System > Display > Advanced scaling settings (under Scale and layout)
In the Advanced scaling settings window, try to turn off the Let Windows try to fix apps so they’re not blurry option

Unticked that option, restarted BE. Unticked dark menu, enable it again.. Still large.

Fixed. Had to restart/log off the system for it to take affect.

Nope..And it's back after a reboot. You'll need to look a bit more into it.
FWIW in 19H1 the fix blurry apps setting will be enabled by default.
