Is it possible to turn off the sound processing filter (audio switcher)?

@beter, @s0meone_new
Thanks. Updated in r6601.

@Siso
Sound processing is not used by default and, accordingly, can be easily disabled by pressing the "Default" button.
In this case, the "AudioSwitcher" filter does nothing with the audio stream, the filter cannot be disabled (and there will be no options to disable it). This has already been written several times.

If you do not want to unpack "yt-dlp.zip" into the player folder, then you can add the path to the "yt-dlp" folder to the PATH variable.

You have not specified the version of the player. Therefore, I can only advise you to upgrade to 1.6.0.6593+.

If you do not want to unpack "yt-dlp.zip" into the player folder, then you can add the path to the "yt-dlp" folder to the PATH variable.
For MPC-BE after r6606, you can specify the path to "yt-dlp.exe" in "App Paths" subkey.

for current user
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\yt-dlp.exe]
@="C:\\Utils\\yt-dlp\\yt-dlp.exe"

for all users
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\yt-dlp.exe]
@="C:\\Utils\\yt-dlp\\yt-dlp.exe"

cmhrky
17th October 2021, 15:07
Save it to a .cmd file and run it as an administrator in the same folder as yt-dlp.exe.

Reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\yt-dlp.exe" /ve /t REG_SZ /d "%~dp0yt-dlp.exe" /f

Starting from version 1.6.0.6646 the player cannot work on Windows Vista. This happened after updating the dav1d decoder. The reason is the use of the GetThreadGroupAffinity (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/processtopologyapi/nf-processtopologyapi-getthreadgroupaffinity) function in commit 9636af88 (https://code.videolan.org/videolan/dav1d/-/commit/9636af88b892703ed13ce9216723c63029b6dd1a).

I am having a problem with a specific Matroska file extracted from my DVD, with help from MAKEMKV.

This is the only file that while it's playing in MPC-BE it wobbles in a frenzy manner... you can't watch at all.

I extracted 1 minute of it using MKVTOOLNIX.

The funny thing is that if I use MPC-HC that same MKV is 100% fine. What is going on?

There is a problem with processing "3:2 pull down".

I don’t confirm. The MPC-HC 1.9.16.51 has the same problem.

I noticed if we enable MPC Video Renderer the problem repeats with MPC-HC.

https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1952164#post1952164

I did what the above link says to make it possible to watch 4K content with no GPU at the moment. So this file can be played fine with enhanced video renderer (custom presenter).

mkvmerge v62.0.0 ~ 23.976p

As a result, my video plays correctly. Now I don't know what the problem is with your video.

I'm trying to switch from MPC-HC, to MPC-BE. All of my movies bitstreamed perfectly with MPC-HC, but for some reason, everything is showing PCM when I try MPC-BE. Sould we use internal or external filters with BE? What audio renderer do I choose from the drop-down box, my Denon receiver?

You need to set up MPC-BE in much the same way as you did in MPC-HC + LAV.
Options > Internal filters > Audio decoders > Audio decoder configuration > Pass-through (S/PDIF, HDMI)

Aleksoid1978

1 - Enable bitstream in internal Audio Decoder.

Options > Internal filters > Audio decoders > Audio decoder configuration > Pass-through (S/PDIF, HDMI)1 - Enable bitstream in internal Audio Decoder.I can't get it to work unless I use external filters, but then I only get PCM. When I go to Internal Filters/Audio Decoders/Audio decoder configuration, it says "the decoder is not active", in the properties box.

Then open files :)

@LenniePaz
1. Don't force external decoders if you want to use the built-in ones.
2. Configure the built-in audio decoder before starting playback. How to do this has already been written on this page 2 times.
3. Start playback. You can see which filters are active through the menu: Play> Filters. There you can also go to the settings of the active audio decoder and see the status.

I do not understand why you can do all the same in MPC-HC and you have very big problems with MPC-BE.

When I look in the system tray, there are no icons for LAV filters. Did I install MPC-BE correctly? I downloaded the latest version of MPC-BE, and clicked install. Do I need to do anything else besides that?

mpc-be does not use lavfilter as internal filters so you should not see lav tray icons.

mpc-be needs nothing else to bit stream just settings in mpc-be that tell it that you want to bit stream.

All I did was install the latest version of MPC-BE, and try to play a 4k mkv. Nothing happens when I try to play it, unless I use external filters. It plays with external filters, but only PCM.

it's a different player you have to set it up again.
you don't need external filters to get it working but by default it will use EVR and no bit streaming.

if setup correctly it will also use lavfilter and bit stream with that but it needs setup.

the internal filters in BE are working just fine there are just niche cases where they differ from let's say lavfilter.

I just set the TV in the system as the default sound device, so as not to change the sound settings in the player when the TV is connected and disconnected. Included Pass-through for all audio formats. And I got the result I want.
https://i.ibb.co/zPnb6Lb/02.png (https://ibb.co/zPnb6Lb)https://i.ibb.co/4Yvn0QZ/01.png (https://ibb.co/4Yvn0QZ)
PS: The list of active filters can contain several MPC Audio Decoders by the number of audio tracks. This is because MPC Matroska Source works differently than LAV Splitter Source.

Perhaps you have a local problem.
If you are unable to use MPC-BE, then you can continue to use MPC-HC.

Don't know if the latest alpha (1.6.0.6659) supports 3rd party online streaming, like "https://www.khanacademy.org/math/geometry-home/triangle-properties/altitudes/v/proof-triangle-altitudes-are-concurrent-orthocenter", using yt-dlp. When opened by MPC-BE, it's showing "Opening..." like forever.
But this one can be opened using MPC-HC, also by utilizing "yt-dlp"

i didn't read it compelely "only" the relavent parts. bit streaming isn't been used in this guide.

adding xysubfilter as an external filter you have it already selected as the subtitle filter...

"Getting rid of the ugly startup logo"
i see prioties have been set has to be the first point.

here is a new guide:

options -> miscellaneous -> reset
options -> video -> video renderer -> madVR
options -> interntal filters -> audio decoders -> audio decoder configuration -> tick the audio codecs you want to bitstream.
options -> subtitles -> subtitle renderer -> xysubfilter

mostly calibration these days by using the "new interface" where madVR can change the colors of the subtitle.
