Can't show the sub.
What player can show ??
This does remind me though - would it be possible to change the desktop resolution and refresh rate based on the video content's framerate and its resolution? My TV does better upscaling than my HTPC can do since it's not particularly high-end...
may work with madVR can't test this my TV doesn't support 720p23.
i still doubt these TV rescaler are any good but feel free to test.

The upscaler on my $350 Toshiba TV from 2013 seems to be a bit to somewhat better than the likes of Bicubic or Lanczos - not incredible but still much better than you usually get from a PC monitor or a GPU (read: bilinear or similar).
MPC-BE 1.4.5 (build 364) beta (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpcbe/files/MPC-BE/Nightly%20Builds%20%28from%20svn%20trunk%29/MPC-BE%20v1.4.5%20%28build%20364%29%20beta/)

I agree but did the scaler of your TV works when connected to PC? It seems not working with so called PC mode. In other words, TV scalers only works through USB playback in case of videos being played.

My TV has low enough input lag (~35ms) in standard that I don't even need to run it in "PC mode". Besides, even at its fastest settings the input lag is not much lower at 29ms.
But even then, the upscaling in PC mode doesn't really seem any worse - it is a teeny bit worse however in "Game" mode, but the main thing that looks different in game mode is actually the colors rather than the upscaling.
read about chroma subsampling of TV i guess that's the case here.

My TV is fully capable of displaying 4:4:4 chroma no matter what I set it to. For reference I used this chroma test pattern:

Can't reproduce. Disable/Enable audio devices(even if all) - no crash and playback is always switched to the default audio device or selected.
Sorry took so long to do more testing on this.
The crash only looks to occur when changing from say a 2.0 channel configuration (Speakers) to 5.1 (HDMI), if I switch the HDMI config to 2.0, switching no longer results in a crash.
I have also not seen a crash from going from 5.1 to 2.0, so it looks like its only apparent when switching to an audio device with a greater channel count than the one in use.

Are you planning on adding torrent playback support in the future?
It would be great to play torrents from inside mpc-be. :P

Kudos to Aleksoid1978 for implementing a solid WASAPI Exclusive audio renderer. I'm running into one problem with my current setup though.
I switch between Blueooth headphones and my AV receiver output for audio. Now, everything works perfectly fine except the switching process isn't perfect.
For some odd reason, only WASAPI shared mode works with the Bluetooth headphones. WASAPI Exclusive doesn't send any sound.
However, I need WASAPI Exclusive with system channel layout unchecked/disabled for outputting multichannel LPCM over Intel HDMI. It's the only way I can get more than 2 channels over HDMI. Windows/Intel refuses to output more than 2 channels over WASAPI shared, DirectSound or WASAPI Exclusive with system channel layout enabled/checked.
I also tried a dual audio output with MPC Audio Renderer -> WASAPI Exclusive for Intel HDMI and DirectSound (Bluetooth headphone). However, when I disconnect the Bluetooth headphone, the DirectSound (Bluetooth headphone) resets to System Default which causes a clash between MPC Audio Renderer -> WASAPI Exclusive and System Default ( which I assume sets to DirectSound (Intel HDMI) ).
Is there a way to have some sort of profile setup for different audio outputs? For example, MPC Audio Renderer -> WASAPI Exclusive only for Intel HDMI and MPC Audio Renderer -> WASAPI shared only for Bluetooth headphone?
Thanks and long live MPC-BE!

I've noticed a difference in performance in 1080p movies on my laptop.
I'm watching now a 3gb movie that plays perfectly, but sometimes in other movies (between 1gb and 2 gb) there's tearing or minimal dropped frames.
I'd like to understand what settings on movie encoding could cause this difference on playing performance.
Any tips on what to look for?
btw all are h.264 + aac, similar framerates, etc
Thanks

I notice an issue with mpc-be the last few weeks and think I finally got to the bottom of it. When I open a movie, sometimes the existing mpc-be window isn't reused and a second mpc-be window is started. This causes issues for me as reclock / wasapi audio doesn't like a second player opening.
In summary it seems to be when I start a movie thats on a hard drive that has gone to sleep, and needs to spin up. The few seconds the drive is spinning up, I assume mpc-be hits some sort of timeout trying to start, and starts the second instance of the player. Is this configurable if it indeed is a timeout, or can it be disabled?
EDIT: Actually it looks as if even if playing a file that's not on a drive that's gone into idle mode, mpc-be seems to still trigger drives to spin up when opening another file. I guess it must have some interaction with each drive? Itd be ideal if it didn't spin up the drives as of course they add extra noise to the HTPC unnecessarily, anyone know if this is a difficult change to make?

Is it possible to add an option to keep a buffer of X seconds on a live stream? For example, to review the last few seconds on a live match.
I see I can pause a live stream, but I can't skip.
Thanks

Hi guys :)
I've a 5.1 audio system on my pc. Before i used MPC HC and with mapping channel i forced audio from 2.0 to 5.1. Now with MPC BE there is the mixer, but if i select 5.1, the audio doesn't play in this way. How can i solve?
Thanks in advantage :D

You mean you want 2.0 sound upmixed to 5.1? I didn't think MPC-HC had that capability either, you'd normally add ffdshow into the chain to do channel mixing.

Problem in subtitles - big font size. PotPlayer/VLC also show BIG :)
I don't know how do in MPC-HC, maybe scale font size to fit in window size.
The problem:
The first line of the ass file is not
[Script Info]
Instead, it is:
; // 欢迎访问光荣游戏论坛 http://www.koeigame.cn
(the advertisement of a website)
So the player can't read the resolution information.
Maybe MPC-HC can read the the info directly without recognising "[Script Info]".
@beter
You're right, the subtitle file is incorrect. After adding the line "[Script Info]" the beginning of the file, the problem is solved.

Hello!
I downloaded the nightly and cant figure out why Shaders are not showing. There is nothing on the dropdown but they are on the folder.
Any ideas?
Looks to be a nightly issue but since the stable version has the feature I wanted which is mixing up to 7.1 from 5.1 movies, then I will just use that.
Looks to me that I should be able to achieve exactly the same IQ if I use Lav filters and madvr as I get with MPH-HC but with the added benefit of the 7.1 upmixing which I have not been able to get with MPC-HC.
Or at least that is what I think. :D

If the settings in the registry -> c:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Roaming\MPC-BE\Shaders\
If the settings in the program folder -> %MPC-BE%\Shaders

Sometime ago I asked for help to find out why I had problems with 60fps on my low spec laptop, and today I found at least one of the reasons. I don't know if it's a bug or my cpu not being able to handle it, but this is what happened.
When I'm watching a 60fps movie, everything is ok, until I press "I" to show the time on screen, then everything is choppy. I can turn the time on/off and see a big difference in "smoothness". Not a big problem...now that I know it. :)
Plus, I've been trying with low res movies and I also get tearing. I'm happy now, I fixed my problems. :P

Change the settings in the system.
You have a 5.1 soundsystem and want to fill up a 2.0 Stereo source to full 5.1? -> Every Speaker should play.
If that's the case you should not set it in the players settings like v0lt already correctly mentioned (also not in MPC-HC), you should set it in the drivers menu.
I use stock onboard sound "cards" from Realtek and there is a point "Speaker Fill".

After many years I've finally ditched ffdshow and adopted a filter chain solely comprised of LAV Filters, and using MC BE for subtitles rendering - much better power efficiency on my laptop.
The only thing I really miss (it's so minor, but very useful) is the ability to select subtitles by right-clicking on ffdshow's tray icon, and under the Subtitles section possible subtitle files were listed from the folder of the video being played, and they could be loaded simply by clicking on them. I didn't have load them through an Explorer window, the workflow was much more fluid. Is there any chance to extend MPC BE's tray icon with this functionality?
Edit: I made a screenshot to clarify this

Why does the MPC-BE team still host their files at SourceForge? They add malware among other thing
SourceForge has now taken over Nmap audit tool project http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/06/black-mirror-sourceforge-has-now-siezed-nmap-audit-tool-project/
i don't see any adware in mpc hc/be so nothing to bother for them.
