Only for a specific containier and/or codec? If so, try to disable all internal filters, as source filters and decoders and use external LAV Filters as MPC-HC does. To rule out that as a possible issue. Just wait for other opinions and the devs.

seems to be anything, mkv, avi, mp4 etc, ive tried using it with stock install settings with LAV filters interal and external and with MADVR too, seems to be an issue with the program itself, llike its looking for something when its loading, then times out and continues.
mclingo
15th July 2019, 20:24
it happens mostly when ive not used the program for a few days or have rebooted, it usually does it with the first movie file I play and then plays ok after that but sometimes it will do it again later on but more rarely, so I guess its mainly when I use it for the first time.
I wonder, does it cache my last movie somewhere as if it does and tries to access it or confirm its there or something this might be the problem as if the last movie I played was on a spun down drive this might cause it?

Perhaps the devs provide a debug logging exe for you that writes all it does to a log file. That helped already in the past.

Try to close the "explorer" in the playlist panel. Seems like it tries to access all of your drives and this could take some time if you have unreachable network drives or a hard disk that is in standby mode.

Hello everyone! I switched from mpc-hc to mpc-be (1.5.3) recently and there is one single thing i couldn't find out.
If a video is already playing and i doubleclick another vid, the player stays behind and does not go to foreground after loading the new file. Where is the option for that?
What i don't want is "stay on top while playing", just one "initial set to foreground" like mpc and mpc-hc did.
It seems to work for one time after starting fresh, but if i start the third video it stays behind windows.

Seems to be working for me, because the new video is in focus when the new file double clicked.

It seems to work on the second, but not with the third video and on.
I'm on 1809 x64 if that matters.

No problem here with mpc-be and Win 10 1903, works fine here.
(in my code I'm calling this: AllowSetForegroundWindow)
edit:
I think this type of issue is typical for malware, antimalware and certain kind of system apps.

Also the system is clean.

I thought about that too: I want to switch off the TV before the PC goes to sleep, triggered by MPC-BE.
But since I use madvr,. I'm not sure what kind of issues it would raise, so that's why I haven't asked for it.

Sometimes I got warbled sound from MPC-BE's MPC Audio Renderer just during playing back a video, pause and play will not get the normal sound back. I was suspecting the float output format, but after untick it, the issue still there.

Yes. Hope the issue will be fixed in the near future. I would say it was not that common, perhaps harder for the developer to figure out the culprit.

It just popped in my mind, at least for me, probably I could use standard Windows events to fire up a script: e.g. when the computer goes to sleep it can try to switch the TV off. That should work, in theory :)

nice. adding support for more subtitle renderer would make this a perfect default renderer.
if you add support for 16/32 bit texture format you should think about adding dithering. i know the build from JanWillem32 had it maybe it can be ported:
https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=161047
16 bit should be enough so it could be tested with dx9.
there is a small thing in the OSD which is most likely irrelevant.
if an PNG is loaded with lavfilter the OSD reports inf as the frame rate but lavfilter is supposed to create a 25 HZ file: https://abload.de/img/mpcvrosdyuk4z.png

I think this is a LAV Source Filter problem. MPC-HC EVR-CP has a more serious problem with it. MPC VR works correctly and shows in statistics what it gets.
Generate Still Video for JPEG works more correctly.

with mpc.hc internal, xy subfilter and assfilter mod doesn't work/connect with it i guess proper support is needed first.
xy subfilter does this on MPB-BE: https://abload.de/img/subtitleissuek9kmc.png

MPC Video Renderer is a free and open-source video renderer for DirectShow. The renderer can potentially work with any DirectShow player, but full support is available only in the MPC-BE. Recommended MPC-BE v1.5.4.4611 or newer.
XySubFilter supported in DirectX 9 mode.
AssFilterMod not supported in MPC-BE.

Sometimes i can pause for some hours :)
Do you check "Release device when idle" in MPC Audio Renderer options ? If yes - try uncheck.
Anima123

I didn't get "Release device when idle" checked. However, untheck the "Use system layout channels" seems do the trick.
Edit: No, it happened that something else not keeping up with the pace. It just appeared when playing back a video, using MPC Video Renderer.
Edit2: Sanear Audio Renderer has no problem at all for my environment.
Edit3: My htpc setup in using Windows 8.1, configured with an asynchronous usb DA converter, and I am willing to do some tests if developers has some debug build to gather more info about this issue.
And BTW, my other laptop under Windows 10 also has similar issue with MPC-BE's audio renderer, and that one dosn't have an usb audio output.

The playing suddenly became like slow-motion, and the audio warbling when it happend, and it reject to get back to normal.
BTW, before the issue occurred, the logs in DebugView is far less frequent than after.
I am willing to help if further testing needed.

i have also stutter when using MPC VR, but ONLY if im using 2 monitors..
I watch the video on the right monitor then work on the left one, or browse. Then after some time i get stutter (droped , repeated frames etc).
If i only use ONE Monitor everything is fine..
This does not happen with EVR CP..
i thought im gonna post it also...

@BetA13
DirectX 11 mode works on Windows 8, but we recommend using Windows 8.1.
Current version of MPC VR is 0.2.1.786.
+1 on "what does swap effect" mean?
Different methods of transferring a frame from a texture to a “screen”. "Flip" is considered fast, but has some nuances in implementation. "Discard" is a more stable mode, speed depends on the implementation in the driver.
We did not notice a big difference in speed.
