Issue appeared sometime in recent days. Was not present last week.
When installer opens, you are promoted to select a language. It's English by default by me. But on the next screens, it is Russian.
Yeah had this too, parts of the installer were in Russian with 138.

Hello,
I've noticed some (minor) visual things. I don't know if anything can be done (don't feel obliged to answer).
1) I'm discovering HDR world recently (10 bits, DV etc. I still don't understand the usefulness compared to old SDR 8 bits but that's not your problem).
With my GPU (Geforce 1060), in Nvidia Control Panel, I can't select 10 Bpc, there's only 12 (Nvidia driver limitation before Geforce 3000 FWIR).
When I use 12 bpc, with MPCVR, each time OSD appears/disappears, I have 1 black screen flickering (and dropped frames some seconds later, I guess linked to a buffer reinitializing).
This flickering is also present when MPC-BE Progress bar at bottom appears/disappears, but since it's part of UI, I guess it must be normal. But I though OSD would not cause this black screen flickering. I wonder if it's the case with 10 bpc in nvidia drivers.
2) Concerning subtitles, I've noticed that "Outline Border width" is not scaled like the text.
Subtitle In Full Screen:
https://i.imgur.com/lleD7ly.png
Subtitle in smaller window:
https://i.imgur.com/BGxcJI5.png
If possible, the outline thickness should be scaled like the text.
3) Also I guess it's not possible but is there a way to have a minimum size for subtitles ? In general you configure the settings for fullscreen, but when alterning between watching full screen and small size, you have to change settings. I've tried to use scale xy% setting but it looks like its aim is to change the aspect ratio of text, not the size for different renderer sizes.
Some captures with my settings if it helps:

@pirlouy
Text subtitles can be simple, stylized (rigidly tied to the frame size), mixed and redefined. And to do everything well is a very difficult and possibly unsolvable task.
You can try an external subtitle renderer - XySubFilter (or one of 3).

Look's like driver bug.

Enabling exclusive mode in the renderer can help with that, for at least the seekbar.
Does your desktop output Dolby Vision to your screen? If so, showing GUI elements on top of video might cause it to temporarily switch from HDR to DV and back. Solution is to force Windows to always use HDR. Like by disabling DV in your monitor.

My example was with SDR video (sorry I should have been more precise). I enabled 12 bpc for HDR10 videos but the problem is with SDR videos.
But I agree with Alexsoid, it looks like a bug with the driver and 12 bpc. In fact, colors are right when in window mode, but not when in fullscreen (except when OSD is present). So the flickering is because it cycles from window mode to fullscreen mode.
Maybe you're right and enabling exclusive mode would help, but when you start doing tricky workaround for minimal gain, it's dangerous. I prefer to stay in 8 bits, I'm OK with losing extra infos, as long as HDR videos don't have wrong colors.
The obvious fix is to buy a recent GPU and test 4K 120Hz 10 bits. But at the time, GPU was accessible at 150 €. Still waiting for this price (I know I'm dreaming).
@Volt: I'm OK with internal subtitles, as long as I have a working setting for fullscreen. I understand subtitles rendering can be complicated.

If your display is listed as supporting HDMI 2.1, the best thing for you to do would be to purchase an active displayport to hdmi 2.1 adapter. The hdmi ports on your card are 2.0b which is more than half the speed of 2.1. The adapter would fix that and open up more refresh rates and depths.

Will there be a AI upscaler added to MPC-VR at some point?
Nvidia Super Res is just too sharp for me to want to use it.

Any way to change the main toolbar size like in MPC-HC advanced settings ?
Did anyone ever manage to figure this out?
I really do like the Seekbar thumbnail preview feature of MPC-BE, but the toolbar is just so tiny!
All I've found so far is guides on how to replace the toolbar buttons entirely with funky colourful user generated ones... but I like the default buttons.
I just wish they were bigger, is all.

Hi guys, gosh I love MPC-BE so much and am wondering if there is a way to disable the "eject" button on the GUI. I keep accidentally hitting it while jumping around on the seek bar and a windows explorer type window keeps opening. I would like to keep accidentally hitting it but nothing happens ;-)

I have a somewhat similar problem. When right-clicking in the UI and moving the mouse cursor down to options I sometimes go to far and click on "exit".
Yeah, my fault - I know, but I think it would be really cool if it would be possible to fine-tune MPC-BE to personal tastes/needs. Like moving "options" to the top.

But anyone can try to implement this and send us a pull request, we'll see.

Hi, I'm having a problem with YouTube videos for a few weeks now and it's driving me crazy
After I play many different videos (aprox an hour of 3/5 minutes videos), MPC-BE stops playing every single video I try to play, and I got a message from YouTube saying that I am a bot and I need to sign in
It must be a YouTube thing, since as soon as that happened I tried opening the same video on an incognito tab in chrome and i got the same message
So my question is: Is there any way to log my YouTube account into MPC-BE so i can get rid of this problem entirely or is there any workaround so i can solve this issue?
Thanks so much, and sorry if my English isn't the best

Ok no problem, sorry about that
So, is it there any other way to do it with MPC-BE? It would be much better since yt-dlp takes too much time loading any video while the built-in web parser is way faster and better
Thanks

Just to finish the detour: yt-dlp is much more elaborate in supporting tricky cases and gets very quickly updated when YouTube changes counter techniques again... my "download best AVC + AAC in MP4" code in a Batch script is:
yt-dlp.exe -v -f "bestvideo[vcodec^=avc1]+bestaudio[acodec^=mp4a]/best[vcodec^=avc1]" --cookies-from-browser firefox -- "%1"
(several browsers are supported by name; the "--" is the last parameter before the URL or video ID so it may contain a '-' dash without causing issues; ffmpeg is required in the same directory, phantomjs helps too)
Back to MPC-BE.

You can place the new version of 'yt-dlp.exe' in your MPC-BE x64 folder. And create a link to it: -

The cookies thing is good advice. Read up on it. I needed to learn how to do that because I discovered (especially with newer stuff) that without the browser youtube cookie it will use a lower-resolution video.

is it really unfeasible to add the same cookie support for the internal parser directly from ytdl?
@Sunspark, @LigH
As far as I know, you can now specify the path to the cookie file in the yt-dlp.conf file.
Something like this:
--cookies C:\\TOOLS\\yt-dlp_cookies.txt
More about the configuration file: https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/#configuration
is it really unfeasible to add the same cookie support for the internal parser directly from ytdl?
No. We do not plan to do questionable things in terms of user data security.
Yes, you can export cookies from the browser to a text file (e.g. via browser add-on in case of Firefox) to load them from there into yt-dlp; but: There may be times when you need to export them again or YouTube will notice that they got obsolete in the meantime.

When I view a MP4 video (originally from Samsung Galaxy Smartphone) with MPC on Win10 then black letterboxes appears at the side (see snapshot in attachment).
How can I hide these black panes? MPC windows should contain only the portrait video.

Always post small samples of the video files you are having trouble with on public file sharing sites. This will allow other people to reproduce your problem faster, find the cause, and offer a solution.
For screenshots, use public image hosting services. All you have to do is add a link to your message.
For large text reports, you can use services like https://pastebin.com/

But here we must remember that the player has a minimum window width for correct display of the menu and toolbar. Therefore, for small window sizes, black fields will always be (except for the "Minimal" preset).
