hi
I'm using only the internal Decoders.

Most of the time I'm playing mkv files with aac Audio, which I let convert on the fly to ac3 and stream through spdif to my Receiver. DD and DTS streams, I also let funnel directly to spdif....

I have now observed that this settings are lost when I Play in between e.g. a "real" DVD...somehow MPC-BE forgets what I have selected in the settings of the internal Audio-Decoder...

Stereoscopic Player, which I have payed for, is now able also to display subtitles of interlaced 3D-mkv (like produced by MakeMKV)...I'm wondering of it would not be possible to use this Decoder to implement this function into MPC-BE for those who have payed for StereoscopicPlayer...

3 questions :)

1) I've seen that mpc-be can't remember the position where I paused some of my files. Is there a limitation on the number of files that remember this? Is it the same as the recent files?

2) Are there any plans on adding Color Controls to the OSD?

3) And any plans on being able to make and save shader (and color controls) presets?

Thanks

Now,if you change values on color controls (inside the menu) while the video is paused, nothing happens. You can't see the changes until you start playing again.

I've seen that you can change shaders while paused and see the results immediately. Is it possible to do the same with color controls?

Thanks

Is it possible to "remember" the audio track and subtitle settings, together with the current position?

This is what's happening:

When I watch movies with several audio tracks, and subtitles, mpc-be remembers the time when I stopped watching the movie, but I have to manually select the audio track and subtitles, everytime I resume playing.

There's something wrong with subtitle styles.

If I do Right Click->Subtitles->Styles

and I put them on top of the screen it works, but if I do:

Right Click->Options->Subtitles->Default Style

I can't move the subtitles to another part of the screen.

OK, I understand the subtitle thing now. :)

Is it possible to add an option in Default subtitle to load a different subtitle, like the 2nd one for example?

And the same for audio. As I said before, I have 30 min movies with several audio tracks and subtitles, and I have to manually select audio and subtitles everytime. Loading the 2nd audio track as default would be very useful.

Thanks.

I've found a series of movies that do a weird thing with subtitles.

Everytime I load one of them, subtitles appear on the right, no border and a shadow depth of 100.

I change it, and when I reload the movie, it happens again.

They are .mkv files. I don't know if this is a problem on the files, or the player. I've never seen anything like this before.

I can send you the file or the link in a PM, if you want.

This is what I can see in Subtitles->Styles

@Aleksoid1978

In the past, MPC-BE used to allow XySubFilter/xy-VSFilter/VSFilter to load when 'autoload subtitles' was enabled, while only enabling the ISR if no other subtitle renderer was present in the graph.

Now, ever since MPC-BE 1.4.2.4738, the renamed 'use built-in subtitle renderer' setting has been blocking XySubFilter/xy-VSFilter/VSFilter from loading and forcing the ISR. This reverted MPC-BE back to MPC-HC-like behavior, so it was likely a result of settings/gui merge which occurred between 1.4.2.4733-1.4.2.4738.

Was this behavior change intentional? Arguably the prior MPC-BE method more useful when it came to co-existing with other subtitles renderers, as well as ease of use. The MPC-HC method, while less functional, does have it's own merits in terms of reducing settings confusion though. I don't really mind either way. At this point I just want to confirm this wasn't a mistake, and if the current method will continue to be used going forward?

I downloaded MPC-BE v1.4.3 -dev build 5416 and something happened.

I watched 6 chapters of an anime series with a previous version and everything was OK.

These movies have 2 audio tracks and 2 subtitles.

Now, when I select the 2nd audio track, the whole movie (video + audio) starts playing very fast.

If I switch again to the 1st audio track, everything goes back to normal.

It doesn't happen with other movies (I tried another series with 2 audio tracks and they play well).

It's only these series (all chapters). The thing is that when I watched the first chapters (about 1 or 2 weeks ago) everything was OK.

By the way, MPC-HC plays them well, so it's only MPC-BE.

I skip a lot when I watch sports videos, and I've noticed that MPC-BE is generally slower than MPC-HC.

My computer is not very powerful, and some videos have problems when skipping a few seconds. Some are fast, some are slow, I guess it depends on many things, like enconding, bitrate, etc.

But what sometimes happens is that I can't watch some videos on mpc-be because everytime I skip, it takes 1-2 seconds, and if I try the same video in mpc-hc is faster.

As an example, videos I record with acestream (.ts), skip faster with mpc-hc, and those I record myself on my tv (.mts) as well. I can't remember now if it happened with other formats.

It's not something that happens with all videos. Sometimes, when I have problems with one, I try mpc-hc to see if it works better.

MPC-HC is built-in with a recent copy of LAV Filters (https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases). MPC-BE doesn't, so you should install LAV, which should make everything faster.

When I play this video:

mpc-be downloads the whole thing, before playing (I have to wait until all video is downloaded).

Why is it different than youtube videos? Is it because of the video encoding, or is it just a mpc-be behaviour?

Can anybody tell me the difference between these options?

Youtube->Select Source

1) Internal
2) File source (URL)

I've been using the default "internal" all the time, and I have a small problem when playing videos, opening a youtube URL.

I decided to try "file source (URL)" today and it seems that the problem is gone, but I don't know the difference between the two, and why "internal" is the default.

Is it possible to add an option to stream ONLY audio from youtube and skip the video part?

There are cases when you want to save bandwith (or have problems with it), and others when you only want to listen to some music.

I think it could save bandwith and CPU when we really don't need the video at all.

Thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that option doesn't process the video part on all videos (CPU saving, that's good), but in the case of youtube videos, mpc-be still downloads the whole thing (in my case 720p). What you say is good for local videos (that I can handle with an audio only player anyway), but I still have the problem of streams using too much bandwith.

I know I can change from 720p to 144p to save bandwith, but that makes me go change that option many times during the day.

I asked for that option, because I wonder if it could be feasible to download only an audio stream (to save also bandwith), and add this option as a checkbox on youtube settings and add a keyboard shortcut to it (Youtube audio only ON-OFF).

I explain my case with an example:

.-My youtube quality is set at 720p.
.-I don't usually have problems with my internet connection, but sometimes I do.
.-Many times, I stream a youtube video only as background music, so I don't really need the video part.

The thing is I'm streaming a full 720p video for a bit of audio that is only 5-10 MBs.

I think 480p and 1080p have 2 streams, 1 for video and 1 for audio. I've seen in foobar youtube addon that it can select only M4A audio files for streaming.

I wonder if we could be able to select only the audio one in mpc-be.

edit: I've just checked youtube-dl and what I mean is similar to doing "youtube-dl.exe -f 140", as it gets only audio and it's lightning fast.

Thanks

xiringu
18th September 2014, 13:20
I've tried mpc-be with an audio only stream (direct url extracted with youtube-dl), and it plays the m4a stream perfectly.

After thinking about it, I think the easiest way of doing this could be:

1) Add another format/quality in youtube settings: audio only
2) Add a keyboard shortcut to cycle through all the qualities in youtube settings.

Easy enough?

Now I only hope somebody agrees with me that this is something nice to have in mpc-be. :P

Thanks for reading anyway. :)

For a moment I thought that mpc-be was playing the DASH audio well anyway, but I've just realised that it only plays a few seconds and then stops.

Now I see that it is a bit more complicated than I expected. :)

Well, I guess I'll have to make myself a little script to combine youtube-dl and mpc-be...
