Hi, I just wanted to say thanks again. Although I’m ditching Windows (finally...), perhaps would never touch 10/11, am still using HC & BE on Win7, both are awesome cool things 🕶 Really appreciated ever. Happy holidays, to nice devs & everyone! Take care! Пока!

Changes:
The DXVA2 decoder is no longer supported in DirectX 11 mode.
Added brightness and contrast adjustment for Dolby Vision.
The YCgCo color space will now only be converted using shaders.
Fixed closing the "Information" window after pressing the Esc key.

No, it's only for main window and playlist. Dark menu includes the context menu.

Options screen is more readable in light mode, in my opinion.

"View > On Top > While Playing Video" option does not work properly.

I tried to explain it by recording a video: https://streamable.com/a6kjz2

This problem disappeared with v1.6.11.

hi,

strange behaviour to report on W10 Home x64 system with GPU-assisted playback:
graphics card is AMD RX460, latest drivers (Adrenalin 23.11.1)

using MPC-BE x64 1.6.11 w/ MPC-VR 0.7.1.2172 (renderer settings are default, no fullscreen-exclusive)
I'm seeing stuttering (almost every time on same clip) playing back x265 UHD HDR content when the internal video decoder (MPC-BE's own MPC Video Decoder 1.6.11) is setup to use "D3D11, DXVA2"
the only way it seems to overcome this stuttering is to change the Video Decoder to use D3D11cb (adapter: auto) instead
I don't see an option to select D3D11-native-only (but maybe that's what the "D3D11, DXVA2" setting implies in this context?)
HW-assisted playback IS engaged when the stuttering is occurring

using MPC-HC x64 2.1.3 w/ the same MPC-VR instance (and unchanged renderer settings, same sample clip), but using its internal LAV Video Decoder (0.78.0.1-git) setup to use D3D11 (Native) decoder (LAV doesn't have this "D3D11, DXVA2" setting), I don't see the stuttering

obviously D3D11cb is ok, but since native would be more efficient (less CPU) and it works OK in MPC-HC, any thoughts on what might be causing stuttering in MPC-BE native playback? anything to try to see if it makes a difference? any more detail I can report here to help understand the issue?

...also I should mention I've tried configuring MPC-BE to use external (standalone) LAV decoder with D3D11 (Native), and it also works fine in that configuration - which leads me to think it is something in the MPC Video Decoder

thanks

I'm seeing stuttering (almost every time on same clip) playing back x265 UHD HDR content
24, 25, 30, 50 or 60 fps?
Where is your video file so developers can reproduce the bug?
KODI - Samples (https://kodi.wiki/view/Samples)

I don't see an option to select D3D11-native-only (but maybe that's what the "D3D11, DXVA2" setting implies in this context?)
It's very simple. First there will be an attempt to use the D3D11 decoder. If it doesn’t work (the video renderer doesn’t support it), then an attempt will be made to use the DXVA2 decoder.
If the hardware decoder is working, you will see a GPU icon. Hover over it and you'll see details in a tooltip.

hi,

so I can reproduce the issue with a sample from the link u provided (first one I tried):
4K (UltraHD) Formats
#4 HDR 10-bit HEVC 24fps (in MP4, 'Exodus' sample)
thanks for the link to those

Whilst the MPC Video Decoder is configured as "D3D11, DXVA2" I see "D3D11 Native, HEVC 10-bit" in the tooltip when hovering over the GPU icon. Playback stutters.

Playback is fine when switching to "D3D11cb" and it shows "D3D11 Copy-back, HEVC 10-bit" when hovering in that mode.

cheers

RTX super resolution now supports 10 bit and 16 bit float. but it is broken:

if HDR is on and super resolution is called with an SDR or HDR video and it will wash out the colors.

not washed out anymore the washout results return when it is set to disable and enable again. setting it to SDR or bigger recovers it but in all cases bilinear is used anyway. 720p HDR is used as a source here.

the scaler is bilinear the nvidia control panel also indicates that it is inactive. for SDR the driver is now useful the indication seems to work flawlessly there.

ignore this i go to the source.

You can write to the FFmpeg Bug Tracker (https://trac.ffmpeg.org/), but no one will pay attention to the warnings. Unless you write a patch that will remove all warnings when compiling FFmpeg.

Please remove the compilation log, the forum markup is broken.

Funny you should mention that as that video does not initiate HDR processing for me. It recognises the Dolby Vision metadata but does not process it in HDR. Unless I am doing something wrong.
I'm bumping this since I have the same problem.

Coming from madvr and JRVR, I've been playing around with MPC Video Renderer to see what it can do. I love it so far. Combined with MPC-HC/BE it's way more lightweight and snappy than Jriver and has everything I need.

Well, almost :D

Dolby Vision files (such as samples above) do not engage HDR processing (ctrl+J shows Dolby Vision metadata but HDR is not activated and video is processed in BT-709 and converted to SDR).

Normal HDR videos work just fine.

Any tips?

I repeat once again: Playing DV in SDR mode in the system does not force switching to HDR; conversion to SDR will occur. If you need HDR output, enable HDR mode on the system.

Thx! I skimmed through the topic but missed this info.

I actually had already tried that :)

Two questions:

- why "Matrix" and "Function" report BT.709 in OSD when playing Dolby Vision files?
- "OSD and subtitle brightness" slider seem ineffective when playing Dolby Vision files. OSD and Subtitles are in full brightness. Is this a known issue/bug?

Because the “Matrix” and “Function” values are exactly what they are on purely DV files without an HDR layer.

"OSD and subtitle brightness" - they only work with HDR Passthrough.

"OSD and subtitle brightness" - they only work with HDR Passthrough.

Checked out the RTX HDR MPC-VR mod and noticed this was the case. Would be nice to have this working on non passthru too. Any chance you'll adopt MPCs subtitle renderer? Subs don't work well on internal with anime, text is all over the screen, still using xysub with libass.

Of course, there is a chance - as soon as there is a person who will take on the development of this functionality. Until then - it is as it is.
