That's weird. How does it work for you exactly? I do the following:
MPC-BE options, formats, "admin" button, "all" button, OK, OK
And that simply does nothing. No error, but also no change in the file associations.
I do the same.

MPC Video Renderer 0.9.11.2440 (https://github.com/Aleksoid1978/VideoRenderer/releases/tag/0.9.11)
Changes:
Fixed a crash when exceeding the frame size increase limit using the DXVA2/D3D11 video processor. In this case, frame size increase using shaders will be used.
Fixed a crash when using exclusive full Screen and the "Exclusive full screen on additional window" setting in MPC-BE for two graphics adapters.
Added "Deinterlacing" setting for DXVA2 and D3D11 video processors.
Eliminated frame copying (ZeroCopy) when using the DXVA2 hardware decoder and DXVA2 video processor for Direct3D 9 mode.
Eliminated frame copying (ZeroCopy) when using the D3D11 hardware decoder and D3D11 video processor for Direct3D 11 mode.
Fixed filter registration and deregistration using included CMD files.
PS: MPC Video Renderer 0.9.11 is included in the MPC-BE 1.8.5.77 installer.

Zdravo Dev. Longtime fan of the software, thanks! Used it daily for maybe 10 years! When you think about new features, please consider these:
1) (edit: already there) Keep "Show Milliseconds" on after restart (now it resets to default and hides milliseconds again every time)
2) "Copy time code" keyboard shorcut to copy current time code to clipboard. Ideally HH:MM:SS.MS when "Show Milliseconds" is on and HH:MM:SS when it's off, but just one that includes milliseconds would be really great. I need milliseconds all the time for ffmpeg and must type the numbers manually.
3) "Delete file" keyboard shortcut for quickly deleting files. Often need it a lot.
4) A shortcut for Zoom 150% (or custom user value). A lot of times Zoom 200% is too much, Zoom 100% is too little, and Zoom 150% would be just right. Just like in that fairy tale!
5) OSD: separate background transparancy from text transparency, allow to change OSD position to other corners, allow to make text shadow thicker. I have a problem with my left eye so I prefer top right myself. I also wanted to set solid OSD text with thick shadow and no background, but changing "Transparent" also makes the text transparent. Not really important.
If you can do anything of these when not busy with more important things, it would be awesome. I would use all of them a lot. If not, I understand of course, no worries! Sorry for my bad English and thanks.
(edit) Just saw in the changelog that 1.8.5 now keeps "Show Milliseconds", lol. Thanks again! Also question: what's the best quality resizer? Lancroz3?

There is no objective "best" for everyone's subjective taste. That's the reason why there are so many different kernels for scalers. And doing it in realtime, possibly by GPU shaders, is a different task on top...
Lanczos3 is a kernel which can produce a quite sharp looking result, at the cost of possible ringing artifacts around edges. You need to decide for yourself if you can tolerate, even enjoy that result.
huhn
7th August 2025, 05:01
lanczos2/3 with low ringing should be addable
jinc2 is just reading the 3 centered pixel of the 16 it reads calculates the biggest and smaller of these 4 clamps them followed by a lerp with the ar strength. simple but it is very very effective.
the lanczos code seems to be reading 5 pixel in one dimension so 25 in total for x4 pixel output so translating that should be the problem. especially for some one like me that can barely read c code.

How can I change album cover scaling settings for flac/mp3 files? they always default to something like 512x512. Currently, album cover size is tied to video scale. I have resize window to video scale set to 100%, but even though some of my music files have 2560x2560 cover images, it keeps scaling to a tiny 512x512 thumbnail. Would be nice if there was an album cover setting mirroring resize window to video scale options - so I could keep video scale at 100%, but set album cover to fill window (rather than resize window to 512x512 every time a music file is played). I have attached two images,
one showing default behaviour,

the other showing the window if it was not resized (I set the window size to 457x785 in order to accommodate playlist)
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/574741945432276992/1404250539520430150/nice.png?ex=689a81ba&is=6899303a&hm=451df4aea1c347b5fd0df64fdbf3a51b75ee2c457eb3f5b28391a790a248433d&
Bonus feature request: It would be really convenient if there was a setting to "auto display the playlist, revert to hidden/unhidden state otherwise" if you open a playlist file or use the "play folder in MPC-Be" feature from the explorer right click menu etc.

The size of the cover does not affect the window scaling in any way, it only works for videos.
Regarding the new option for displaying the playlist - no, there will be no such thing.

This is a very useless action. There is no such functionality in MPC-BE and there will not be. But you can try AC3Filter.

No worries. I know it's not ideal. It's just late night in my apartment and using the TV speakers I think it sounds fuller, more bass and easier to hear dialogue. AC3Filter will do in this situation.

Has something changed in the more recent versions of MPC BE / VR? I've been using Windows HDR set to 'allow turn on' for a long time and it would always switch windows HDR on when I watch an HDR video, then automatically turn it off once I close the video. Now it switches on, but does not turn it off.
Not a huge deal but a little annoying. I use windows in SDR... I only want HDR on when I watch movies.
edit: It's happening in older versions of MPC BE / VR too, versions that I used before without this problem. Something must've changed in Windows? Any help would be appreciated.

If I have a Samsung TV that has no dolby vision support, and have plenty of files that have both DV and HDR, is there any benefit of leaving "Prefer Dolby Vision over PQ and HLG" enabled on my settings? I think dolby vision is converted (i can see on my stats that the input is the dolby vision layer), but would this be a "superior" HDR than the normal HDR? or on the contrary, I am getting an incorrect picture and should be disabled on my case?
Another question, why does a file that only has DV profile 5 (no hdr fallback), plays correctly even if "Prefer Dolby Vision over PQ and HLG" is disabled? shouldnt the image appear purple and green??

OK, in that case as long as you're taking requests for a project, you know what would be cool? Acestream, except without the VLC 2 frontend they had and the (now) paywall. Acestream was great because it was just bittorrent welded to vlc. People would share stream magnets and it would be good quality.

Perhaps one of the builds was launched accidentally or manually. Two compilations of the same source code result in slightly different executable files (exe, dll, ax). The differences will be in the time stamps and other metadata that the compiler and linker write.
