You can test without Bitstream/Receiver. Just select MCP Audio Renderer and in it's options select Exclusive/Shared mode. And - see movie :)

I know and that's what I did. Only tried the exclusive mode though.

so, how does mpc audio renderer know what formats are supported by the audio device?
For example, my laptop only supports stereo input, how does mpc audio renderer know to downmix to stereo?

Queries the audio device for the supported format and mix input data if need.

P.S. rev.2812 - i added "Status" in setting, it's show input & output format.

-It will not stop at the end of playback, it always say playing in the status bar, unless you manually pause or stop it.

-Trying to load a second video after the end of another one(or while it's still playing/loading) without closing the player will make mpc-be become unresponsive and will crash if you click on the window a few times.

Did some more watching/testing of youtube videos and I figured out that those two problems are always happening only with LAV's flv splitter. It works perfectly fine with LAV's mp4 splitter which I guess is why you couldn't reproduce it.

Also, just in case you missed it(I also rephrased it a bit) when I talked about the WASAPI build:
Don't know if the youtube link argument fix is in it, but pasting a youtube link from a playlist load the very first video of the playlist instead of the actual one from the link, but it will play fine if I remove the extra parameters manually like I did before.

For Exclusive - all right. In Audio Control Panel set 24bit 48000, but real is 32bit 48000.

For 16bit - 16bit.

For Shared Mode - always is 32 bit float.

You guys haven't touched the DVB code from HC have you? Wouldn't it "just work"? HC is usually quite stable with changes in DVB area, perhaps make a test build for Mercury22 and then if he says it's good
you could get one of the beta testers to test to your liking so it can be committed later?

Need DVB support - use MPC-HC or DVB viewer

Sorry for ignorant question, but ... I see discussion of v1.1.3 from January, but now it looks like the latest version is v1.1.1. Are they different branches or different levels of stability? Why should I choose one over the other?

(I'm using 1.1.1 now with no major problems, on a pretty slow/crusty W7 box)

ryrynz

1.1.1 is the dev version. Just grab the latest from the Sourceforge website (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpcbe/)

I'm not sure that they'll be releasing a new "stable" any time soon.. there's not really any need when the dev build is so stable.

Like mrhuge I was using the latest stable version but after seeing your post I'll give the latest nightly a try (I used to do the same for MPC-HC).
Anyway I want to download the 64-bit version but there is one compiled in Visual Studio 2010 and one in 2012, what is the difference?

Also if I enable the option "Replace file name with title" it uses the title and year in the case of mp3 files, i.e. "Dazed and Confused (1969)"; is there a way to change it to "Led Zeppelin - Dazed and Confused"?

Not much really. VS2012 is the newer compiler, it's generated executable is a little larger than the VS2010 version.
There may be slight differences in performance between the two but it won't be noticeable. Either is fine, I'm aware of no drawbacks to using the VS2012 version now, so unless someone can come up with a reason not to use it, I'd prefer that.

Reino

ontherocks,
Track01.wav, DTS_Hotel19dld.wav and Opalcity.wav are all Wav[DTS]-files (Wav-container with a DTS audio-stream inside). They are badly encoded if you ask me though, because MediaInfo reports:
Audio
Format : DTS
Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems
Mode : 14
Format settings, Endianness : Little
Codec ID : 1
Duration : 5mn 53s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 0 bps
Channel(s) : 1 channel
Channel positions : Front: C
Sampling rate : 44.1 KHz
Bit depth : 16 bits
Compression mode : Lossy
Stream size : 59.4 MiB (100%)

unlike a perfectly working sample I made myself:
Audio
Format : DTS
Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems
Mode : 14
Format settings, Endianness : Little
Codec ID : 1
Duration : 25s 518ms
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 1 411.2 Kbps
Channel(s) : 5 channels
Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R
Sampling rate : 44.1 KHz
Bit depth : 24 bits
Compression mode : Lossy
Stream size : 4.29 MiB (100%)

LAV Filters can play Track01.wav and Opalcity.wav just fine, but there's something strange going on with DTS_Hotel19dld.wav (perhaps Aleksoid1978 and nevcairiel can have a look). Unlike the other 2 files, which LAV Splitter detects as "dts, 44100 Hz, 5.1, 1411 kb/s", LAV Splitter thinks this file is "pcm_s16le, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, s16, 1411 kb/s", eventhough MediaInfo reports the same weird numbers. Hence the white noise, because pcm doesn't need to be decoded.
Loading this file in GraphStudioNext showed me LAV Splitter and LAV Decoder are actually capable of decoding this file. "Preferring" LAV Audio Decoder in MPC-HC's "External Filters" setup also (temporarily) fixes it.

Aleksoid1978, for the internal source filter "DTS AudioCD", could you add support for "DTS AudioCD support with CDDA and WAV"? MPC-BE should be able to do this on her own, don't you think?

Slightly off-topic: Aleksoid1978, since your expertise in all this is much greater than mine, do you have any idea why DC-Bass Source Mod can connect with the FFDShow Audio Decoder, but can't connect with the internal DTS audio decoder or the LAV Audio Decoder?

I think that DC-Bass do not store extradata and MPC/LAV decoder check and do not connect.

I can't install nightly builds on other people's computers. It's time to work out the most pressing kinks, try not to break anything in the process... pack it 'n' wrap it and call it stable.

the_weirdo
9th June 2013, 09:01
I also know some people who refuse to use nightly builds because they think they're less stable than "stable" release. MPC-BE devs should release a new stable build every three months or so, IMHO.

ryrynz
9th June 2013, 09:58
They'll just pick a nightly build and call it stable, honestly there's no difference here, MPC's code it not developed in such a way that the nightly builds are ever really considered unstable.

All that more experimental stuff get's done in separate branches and committed once it's deemed stable so just use the nightlies. However they need to release a "stable" build, I've asked this a couple of times now.

Those three files plays fine on this build for me.I didn't notice any difference because I expected the Source Filter "DTS AudioCD" to have changed, but now I see it's actually "DTS/AC3" that's needed here. Btw Aleksoid1978, I see you upgraded that test-build to v1.2.0.0. Major releases coming up? :)

DTS AudioCD - it's for DTS AudioCD playback only. This file - is a DTS/WAV_DTS. We fixed a DTS/AC3 Source for normal parsing this(and other dts/dts_wav) files.
