Will 1.5.9 be released with some fixes backported from 1.6.0 alpha or is 1.6.0 the next release?

Testing the playing of a YouTube link in MPC-BE I found a bug.
Currently the player is set up to use LAV for the decoding.
With the audio renderer set to MPC Audio Renderer, it will play the video fine from YouTube.
With the audio renderer set to Directsound: Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio), the video from YouTube stutters.

@Sunspark
1. Try to open with built-in filters and DirectSound.
2. Try not to use LAV Source and LAV Decoders together.

Hi, looking for some help with HP elite desktop G3 i5 with Intel 530 graphics. This is supposedly capable of decoding HEVC but I cant seem to get it to use any hardware decoding either using internal or external lav filters, CPU remains at 60-100 rending this machine useless, got latest drivers, any ideas?
EDIT - it actually looks like it might be now but its still still wont play any HDR 4k bluray rips without a slide show, I'm thinking this machine just doesnt have enough grunt for this.

It only supports 8-bit HEVC. It doesn't do 10-bit HEVC.

Minor issue:
Let's say we have a mpcpl with a video 'hello.webm' and explicitly given corresponding audio file 'hello.mka'. Note that in the same folder is also 'hello.m4a'.
Playing the video chooses the right audio file but if we delete the video with shift+delete, MPC-BE deletes 'hello.webm' and 'hello.m4a' even though the latter isn't even in the playlist.
(And no, it wasn't me who named the files or made the playlist.)

I was against the functionality of deleting files in the player. But users strongly insisted and it was added. What users wanted is what they got in the end. People need to think not only about momentary desires, but also about the consequences.

I don't understand.
For playing you use the information in the playlist.
For deleting you don't.
Why?

There are more and more windows 11 devices with dolby vision support.
Does it mean we could play dv files on windows 11 with mpc-be soon?

Hey guys. How to disable embedded subtitles? Or if not, how to force external subtitles? I'm using the latest 1.5.8 x64 BE player and the 2.41 vsfilter. I don't have this issue with the classic MPC, it loads fine, but with BE it doesn't. I mean the app loads it, it's in the selection menu, but it plays embedded subtitle. I have to manually select. Check my screenshots. Any ideas?

How to disable embedded subtitles?
This is not provided.
Or if not, how to force external subtitles?
Options > Subtitles > Prefer external subtitles over embedded subtitles.
I'm using the latest 1.5.8 x64 BE player and the 2.41 vsfilter.
I advise you to use the built-in subtitle renderer
Check my screenshots.
No one will see your screenshots here until you upload pictures on the external hosting for pictures (better just links, and embed an image to the message).

Because it is inferior compared to the internal renderer.

I have a question. Are there some settings which can affect the synchronization of the audio and video? Such as splitters, renderers, or other settings? Or should I always have frame perfect audio regardless of those?
Some things sometimes feel just slightly off when I am watching content that heavily relies on the synchronization, but because its such minor difference, its hard to be sure if I'm not just imagining it.

Test with other renderers and see. Default our of box setups should always be in sync. Could be the files themselves.

@Zarxrax
FYI if you (re)encode audio (e.g. AAC) when muxing and creating your file, there tends to be encoder delay, typically 20-50 ms, which may be noticeable in e.g. karaoke. This is NOT a player-side problem.
As a rare exception, if you use LAME MP3 with the default settings, then while an audio player that understands the LAME tag hack can play it sample-accurate, an audio player that doesn't understand it will delay the audio by one MP3 frame. Even without the LAME tag padding, MP3 audio is typically delayed by ~23 ms against the video anyway, though.

Just tried 6581 with only 16-bit integer output for audio, and the sound has apparent delay, I suppose it's due to the new dither option?
There must have some room for the dithering to improve, as I know dithering should be quite fast enough which means something might be wrong at some point of the audio processing line.

Reset all "Sound processing" settings (you can force Int16 output if needed) and compare with 1.6.0.6553.
Write the specifications of your laptop (CPU, sound card, Windows version).

hy, seems like Youtube-dl gets throttled by youtube and makes watching videos via youtube on MPCBE not possible anymore :(
--> https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl/issues/30097
as workaround this here works:
https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp
but im struggling a bit how to make MPCBE use this exe instead of the youtube-DL one or internal one...
with MPCHC it works nicely since i can select the "exe" manually..

Rename yt-dlp.exe to youtube-dl.exe.
One of the drawbacks of yt-dlp (for me anyway) is the single exe extracts 103 files, about 22mb (user\appdata\temp) every time you call the tool, this adds up after a while for those of us who have an ssd.
I've switched to the .zip file (which contains all the files), you just extract the zip to the same folder that mpcbe.exe is in. It's a one-time deal versus every time you need the tool or want to read the help file, etc. it does create a bit of a mess in the folder. Since I'm running mpc-be alpha and yt-dlp, I'm constantly updating the folder's contents so I'm getting accustomed to the routine...
My point is, I wish we could put a subfolder (\YTDLP) in our \MPCBE folder, and using Options point MPC-BE to this subfolder for yt-dlp.exe, youtube-dl.exe, etc, therefore moving some of the mess out of sight.
I don't know how youtube-dl pulled it off but the dev was able to compile everything into a single exe, and (IDR) any files being extracted every time the tool was asked to perform some task - I believe some it is the version of Python used.
