When playing a dvd ISO, can't load external subtitle through menu item (grayed out) or CTRL + L, but can be done by drag & drop the subtitle.
BTW, I only tested with a DVD ISO without its own subtitles.

1 - reset settings.
2 - try without LAV and madVR.

The problem was with madVR, as no crashes with EVR. But it seems to have been fixed with the latest MPC-BE and LAV builds.

We are at least two users who have this issue.

I use (and abuse) dozens of programs on Windows and MPCBE is the only one that gives me that delay.

I'd like to have some feedback from authors, not "funny" comments from users. If more info about OS, drivers, logs whatever is needed, I can provide.

Thanks for any answers...

no they are images you can't change them easily. turning them into text first is usually the first thing that is done to change these types of subs.

Correction: It was a floppy drive, not hard drives, which was causing the delay. Disabling floppy drive in Windows device manager made MPC BE to launch instantly even with "Explorer" playlist not being deleted.

My setup: MPC-HC / MPC-BE (v1.5.3, build 4455), LAV Filters (0.73.1.30-git), MadVR. Intel NUC7i3BNK, Intel i3-7100U, Intel graphics driver 25.20.100.6618. Windows 10 Pro 1809.

3D MVC used to work a few week ago with the earlier Intel driver (v 6577). Now, when I start playback of an iso image, MPC-BE says: "Starting playback crashed". After 10 seconds or so playback starts without any audio. Changing playback position, and most any change, freezes playback completely. Closing the application thru task manager.

3D playback works nicely with Kodi. PowerDVD works but there is strange motion judder.

Is this LAV Filters problem or something else? Maybe caused by a Windows 10 change.

Sounds like a system issue. Try internal filters just to confirm. You may wish to restore your system/revert recent changes.

Internal filters work nicely (after I found the MVC setting). So there is a problem in LAV Filters current version.

Quick question : does MPC-BE built in subtitle search engine (shortcut : D key) still work ?

I get "No subtitles found" on every file even when there should be results, I get them when I look for them manually on opensubtitles.org...

My files are not even renamed or anything.

v0lt
12th April 2019, 19:00
@Charky
I do not recommend using the search for subtitles on the online database in any MPC. I would delete it from MPC-BE, but people use it (I do not understand how).

Charky
12th April 2019, 19:20
Oh, okay then :)

That's a shame, auto search and download subtitles is a useful feature. Kodi's implementation of it works really well, but I guess it's easier to do for them because the movies and TV episodes are properly identified, while MPC-BE can only use the filename to look for the right file.

And of course, auto search and download subtitles doesn't work in Kodi if you use an external player such as MPC-BE :D

Guess I'll have to keep doing it manually for a while ;)

ryrynz
12th April 2019, 21:24
is there a fork of BE using LAV as internal filters ??

The only thing you're doing by disabling the internal filters is using up a bit of extra disk space.

Klaus1189
21st April 2019, 11:53
ryrynz is right, the internal filters only require very little disc space. If you don't want to use the internal filters, just use external LAV Filters or whatever you prefer.

And I just noticed that the root playlist has only one line, it work just as I intended.

root.m3u :

dir\sub1.m3u

I have a lot of such nested playlists and MPC-HC or previous versions MPC-BE (1.5.1) can play them. But after I upadted MPC-BE to 1.5.3 4456, the symptom began to occur.

Updated to 1.5.4 (build 4521) beta, i use madvr and lav filters. Every time i'm in full screen and i right click, i see the screen flashing black one time.
How can i avoid this? In madvr settings i have the delay switch to exclusive mode disabled. With a previous version of mpc be i had no issue like this.

Thanks in advance!

You can try first r4100 if it is still fine, perhaps any other change like driver update is the culprit.

Then you try r4300 for searching the possible changed revision and its commit.
If 4100 is fine and 4300 is not fine, the possible change was between 4100 and 4300. Then pick 4200 and check.
If 4100 and 4300 is fine, the possible change was between 4300 and 4521. Then pick 4400 and check.
Then go on. I‘ve done this already in my MPC-HC time before MPC-BE was created.

hi
and sorry for interrupt

i have a small dvd problem.
mpc be will feeze with some dvds for about 10 sec before playing the movie.

the good news i guess i know what causes the issue.
question how to solve it :-)

the problem happens only with mpc audio render
NOT with directsound system default render.
(i use mpc audio render to use wasapi output to play dvd movies with 48khz frequency)

here the problem :
when i use mpc audio render and i play some dvds and i press "start" in the dvd menu
mpc be will freeze for about 10 sec before playing the movie.
then dvd plays normal without issues.
i tested several dvds.
i guess i found the problem:

mpc be will freeze for about 10 sec ONLY when the dvds have no audio output during intro and menu.
dvds which have sound during intro or dvd menu will not freeze when i press start in the menu.

hope u understand the problem :-)
when i use mpc audio render and i play dvds which will have no audio output during intro and menu
mpc be will freeze for about 10 sec before playing the movie.

when i play dvds which will have sound during intro or menu
playback of the movie will start immediately when i press start in dvd menu.

when i use direct sound audio render all dvds no matter if they have sound during intro and menu or not will start immediately.

changing wasapi from exclusive to shared and changing buffer default or 50 ms or 100ms had no effect on the problem.
playing other movies like mkv, mp4 etc. with 48khz have no freezing problem with mpc audio render
only dvds when they have no audio during intro or menu will cause the 10 sec freeze.

(a log window like vlc has would be good to see what mpc be is doing during the 10 sec freeze)
