Hi.
I have problem with audio/video synchronization...sometime audio is faster than video..i rip oryginal dvd using RipIt4Me in Movie Only mode.....
Hi,
It usually is a protected dvd consequence. Ripit4me made a good job in it's time (2 years ago) but can choke on recent protection, use more up to date protection removal or try processing with dvdshrink no compression movie only; or manually adjust the delay see some how-to in the more FAQ.

on three different systems and "hundreds" of different DVDs the familiar color correction did "never" appear again.
Neither in the log nor the ~.avs script.
One can conspicuously recognize azimuths in the colors of the encoded material.
spoho
11th April 2009, 13:25
In the "old" AutoGK logs there was nearly always the colormatrix conversion:
ColorMatrix("Rec.709->Rec.601",opt=0,hints=false,threads=0)
in the old logs:
[12.12.2007 10:15:09] Source aspect ratio: 4:3
[12.12.2007 10:15:10] MPEG coefficients, ITU-R BT.709: 7819
[12.12.2007 10:15:10] Color correction enabled.
[12.12.2007 10:15:10] Analyzing source.
After reading the "colormatrix.htm" I checked a dozen new ~.d2v files:
It's always "5" (ITU-R BT.601).
That means: here is no conversion necessary.
I dont't have any old ~.d2v files but why was in the last years in nearly "every movie" the conversion?
(hundreds DVDs with different RCs covering several decades)
With my level of knowledge I can't find an explanation in the ChangeLogs from ColorMatrix or DGMPGDec:
AutoGK 2.50 alpha
- DGMpgDec updated to version 1.5.3
- ColorMatrix, Decomb and FDecimate filters updated to the latest versions
ColorMatrix v2.5, 25th January 2009
- Fixed a bug causing the mmx/sse2 routines for FCC<->Rec.601 conversi
older changelog (before AutoGK 2.48 beta - or the DGMPGDec 1.5.0 beta 12) shows something concerning "5" (ITU-R BT.601):
DGMPGDec 1.5.0
21. When a stream does not declare the colorimetry, matrix_coefficients=1 is assumed for
HD video and matrix_coefficients=5 is assumed for SD video.
DGMPGDec 1.4.9
26. Fixed a bug that caused DGIndex to sometimes use 601 colorimetry in the preview window
and when doing Save BMP when 709 should have been used. The Info Dialog was correct, however.

Anyone know if there is a potential problem using XviD VAQ with CQ on Stand-Alone-Players. I have a movie that I just encoded using the latest version of AGK and it was a "choppy/Jerky" on my Philips DVD/DivX player. I wondered it that could be caused by VAQ or should I look elsewhere.

I don't use standalone players.
I get good results when switching off "any postprocessing" in e.g. VLC-Player.
if you like to test different encodings for your player:
- look into your agk_tmp/. folder
- open the lastjob.vcf file with notepad
- delete the last row (for saving the file)
- start: C:\Program Files\AutoGK\VDubMod\VirtualDubMod.exe (or C:\Programme\AutoGK\VDubMod\VirtualDubMod.exe)
for testing you don't need the whole clip/film:
set a start/end point (home/Pos1 and end/Ende)
or press Ctrl+E and add e.g.:
"Trim (2000, 3000)" in the last row for just encoding frame 2000 to 3000 and press F5 (for save/refresh).
with F7 you can save the .avi (add a job)
you can "Change" the Xvid settings there and try with or without VAQ by switching the Adaptive Quantization on/off
you can also change the other settings and "add it to job control" if you want to make more than 1 job.
with F4 you can start encoding the jobs and compare them in your standalone player.
CQ: in Xvid you have the following equivalent to AutoGK percentage:
60% - 3.33
65% - 3.08
70% - 2.86
75% - 2.67
80% - 2.50
85% - 2.35
90% - 2.22
95% - 2.11
100% - 2.00
I use mostly: 90% - 2.22 (resulting 400 to 2200 MB for 100 Minutes)

I spend some more time on this and it appears that the problem was that my new USB stick was not fast enough in some cases to keep up. Maybe VAQ has a little bit higher "peak" video rate than normal CQ.
Regardless, putting the same movie on a DVD solved the choppy and Jerkyness of the video.
Thanks for your help.

Hi, Lenx0
First of all: AutoGK rules, never downloaded better software!
But I do have one question: I think there should be a Dutch translation of AutoGK for Belgian and Dutch people who wanna use this tool but don't understand English. I myself live in Belgium, but do understand enough English to work with AutoGK I really want to make the translation for you, but I haven't got a clue how to start, because AutoGK is an .exe file, and not a .lng (language) file. Can you mail me the script?

Good engagement but I don't think there is a necessity to translate a 1-click-tool even apicable by illiterate people. So the best I recommend you is to write a manual for and in the language you desire. You find the manual in different languages in the ..\AutoGK\help\ folder. Good luck.

Yeah, I was planning to translate the manual.

Hi
I have two questions.
I was advised earlier to install 2.50 and 2.52a, because it doesn't have VAQ.
And i installed for the first time version 2.50, and than 2.52.
AutoGk showed the following errors:
http://s61.radikal.ru/i173/0905/6e/d7789663fc74.jpg
http://s41.radikal.ru/i093/0905/0e/e07b0b7edfdd.jpg
Why?
When would the new version be avaliable?
Is it possible to make the new version without VAQ.
Because there were so many complaint about VAQ...

Sorry mate - the only complaints about VAQ seem to be coming from you, and quite frankly I'm tired of hearing them.
Plenty of sites that have old versions you can install. Uninstall, clean registry with something like CCleaner, and clean-install AGK.

Len0x, please change VobSub in Autogk by SubRip.
I know subRip is an ocr tool, and I know you have to enter each character by yourself, but if you use ai4spams matrix, no one will ever need to fill in any letter. Why SubRip? because it does not, unlike VobSub, meddle owith the timings when cells change. Yes, you can edit the idx files with subresync, but you can't do that when the subs are hard-coded, because Autogk then blocks completely.
Anyway, it's very annoying if one has to check the subs in case they contain timing errors.
Just change it to SubRip and use the ai4spam matrix.
Where to find it: type in Google subrip character matrix files, then you will see a page of this forum, and someone posted a link to the subtitle character matrix.
The ai4spam matrix is brilliant: it recognises every letter, and no errors at all.

Guys I am having a problem. I fed some videos to Automkv and set to constant quality to 18 where it does not care for size. Some files came out really small and some were 1.5 times the original Mpeg 2. I will redo and post some info later. These files had Autocrop on to get rid of black bars etc. Me thinks something is either wrong with Automkv. But will give it the benefit of the doubt for now....

Hello all,
I tried the latest version of AutoGK -
First, I would like to say thank you for continued development.
I'm sure many people are so very happy to see this. :D
It does seem like a very nice program. I really like how it decides what type of film it'll be dealing with. I'm a long time user of GK and to this day, still have trouble with this issue from time to time (in spite of reading the various posts I've found over the years here and there trying help those such as myself understand this) ;) So for me, this particular feature really shines over GK.
The only thing that is stopping me from fully turning from GK to AGK is there doesn't seem to be a way to easily add other filters. I feel that sometimes other filters makes a better encode (especially greyscale for some black and white films).
Now I figure that there may some who would say "But this is for those who want an easy program - why don't you just stick with GK blah blah blah". - Well, that's all cool and everything but GK hasn't been officially updated in a loooong time (and believe me, I sure wish I had the knowledge and talent to bring updates to it but sadly, I don't) and the very fact that there are some hidden options for advanced users in AGK tells me that maybe - just maybe it couldn't hurt to ask for this one more feature :D
Thanks for your time in reading my post.

try AGKPal... sure, it's not hands free but it gets the job done.
btw, saying "bet*er" is forbidden :D ...so, for a nicer looking encode you could try putting the filters before resizing... & that's kind of my request. Diference is noticeable even with the default "removegrain" plugin.

Hi,
If you have followed the main thread, you may know that AGK was stopped and that the author did not give any release date or road-map.
Recently he came back to have feed-back on an? adaptation/version3/major update... that would incorporate x264 at least as output.
In the meanwhile he was kind enough to incorporate the VAQ patch from darkshikari but if you are not satisfied with results you have to go the semi-manual way as Den78 is suggesting: AGK-PAL. I know a lot of things could be done but that is also a lot of work so even if I would welcome any update I will not push the author. My wishlist would be to
- change the resizer to spline64() sharp, spline16() soft; less artifacts with the VAQ option than lanczos
- make VAQ an option so opposants can uncheck it.
That's all, anything more can be done within AGKPAL or the avs reused in Vdubmod. This my personal feeling.
As for the x264/AVC/H264, in that jungle (of apps and people) my experience is that it is not newbie friendly. A noob seems to be a... junk, with many people yelling or auto-satisfactious; Luckily RipBot is giving some oxygen in that marsh. Once again my personal experience
So a simple and solid app like AutoGK would really be welcome, at least by me :)

While I have yet to get into x264, I agree that a simple and solid app for it would be wonderful :D
In the mean time, I am still trying to see if AGK (the way it is now) and I can get along. Currently I am experiencing a minor problem w/it but I'm not done researching that yet. If I can get this issue resolved, I do plan on checking out AGK-PAL that has been suggested. :)
1 thing at a time though.

There's 2 ways of thinking about it.
A faster dual core will deliver your compression faster than a quad, but a quad is still VERY responsive while you're doing compression, so you can still use it for other stuff, including doing your rips say.
I reckon the quad is the go personally, even if XVID itself can't take best advantage of the quad.

E6600 is a great machine, I ran mine at 3ghz for a long time (9x333), now its running my MCE box and I have a Q6600 running the same speed.
Q9550 is obviously faster out of the box, but for encoding the FSB speed and memory bandwidth will always give you a boost but the q9550 won't be a big leap over the e6600 IMO.

Hi,
Hot subject 2 vs4 cores for Xvid!
What is not subject to flame war is 4 cores for X264 is always winner. For XVID, experiences may differs; some thread here in the AGK or xvid sub-forums may be informative.

Even if XVID cannot take fully advantage of a quadcore, if you use heavy avisynth script, it will take advantage of multicore if it can be multithreaded.
Another aspect money: I recently bought a E5300 for 70 euros, a middle range quad is 180 euros; 2 and half more! and I can o/c my E5300 (2600 stock) to 3540 without changing the vcore!

Hello! I have a question about ripping multi-part movie in AGK 2.55. Let's say I have 4 DVD files: VTS_03_0.IFO, VTS_03_0.VOB, VTS_03_1.VOB, VTS_03_2.VOB. There are 8 parts (series) of movie in these files. When I open VTS_03_0.IFO in AGK, window pops up with message: "Several PGCs were found... Please select..." and dropdown box with list of those 8 parts, every part approx. 20 min. length. I select, say, 6-th part. But when encoding is done, resulting AVI has all 8 parts in it, one by one. But I need only part 6! So, what I'm doing wrong? Can AGK cut only one part? Thanks!

Hello, and welcome to the forum.
The PGC selection doesn't work as it should. Set DVD Decrypter for IFO Mode (not the default), and decrypt only the PGC you want. Then open the result in AutoGK.

Automatically? There probably is, but I've never cared to learn how. Perhaps someone else can help. PGCDemux set to extract a PGC VOB can do the job with the DVD already on the hard drive. But only one-at-a-time.

I'm not sure I understand. AutoGK is mature, works, and works well. Why should development be continued when it does what it set out to do? If you're saying that it should be able to encode x264/AAC, remember that one of the main reasons AutoGK was developed was to make it easy for beginners and lazy people to encode AVIs for playing in DVD/MPEG-4 players. Even now there aren't any (or very few?) standalone DVD/MPEG-4 players that will play x/H.264 video. Sure, there are the Popcorn Hour/WD HD/HTPC, etc. solutions, but external media players were never meant to be supported by AutoGK. And there are other programs with which you can create videos for other devices. I'm partial to XviD4PSP and don't (and would never) use Handbrake for anything.
