With tha last beta (2.13b) I experience wrong source aspect ratio detection. Can you do somenthing?

That is not enough information. There is absolutely nothing changed regarding AR in 2.13...

Some films are detected as 4:3 instead of 16:9. It's the second time that it happens from the upgrade to 2.13b: I have to force AR to 16:9 in hidden options to get the right result.

That happens from time to time when vobs are mastered incorrectly - there is nothing we can do about it. Using old version of AutoGK would yield in the same result.

As there is not much development going on anyway these days I'd like to release a stable version of I have and be done with it for a while. So 2.15 can be considered to have an RC status although it does have a few small changes (main one: DVD mode is removed and IFO file being used to open such sources).

len0x why dont you change your installer to check every time a user install autogk if there are installed the vobsub, avisynth and xvid and if there are not to install them automaticly again?

It would be good to see an advanced settings window someday in which we can select the default 1st audio , default second audio, default codec, default output directory etc..

hey len0x,
I was wondering if you can give an option to use VHQ=4 in XviD codec?
I know it will be very slow to rip, but it will produce such a great quality. Not sure if this has already been suggested.

Thanks looking forward to your reply,

A bugfix version of VDM is coming soon, as mentioned in this thread... http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=98517
Will it be implemented in the AutoGK package??

len0x
20th August 2005, 11:58
Thanks for mentioning the above thread, but it would need at least 2-3 months of testing to replace VDubMod in AutoGK since its using 1.5.4.1 and not 1.5.10.1(which ppl randomly find buggy). GK package may be updated for testing purposes before...

Wanted to test new builds of XviD and DGMPGDec before stable release, so please do a stress test. Bugs that are not found before that have a good chance of not being fixed this time :)

I just had a question regarding Output resolution and hidden options.

I have a 720x480 MPG-2 input that is recognized as 4:3. I have even set the input resolution forced at 4:3 in the hidden option. I wish to have the output resolution at 320x240 (4:3 for viewing on my PocketPC). Unfortunately, for some reason AutoGK sizes the ouput to 320x208 and the output looked skewed.

Is there any way to force a particular output resolution in the hidden options?

Thanks.

For some reason in 2-pass mode BOTH of the 2 audio tracks I like to lay-down are coming-out as MP3, despite that normally I get AC3 as Track 1 and MP3 as Track 2 (using Auto output audio type). Here's a sample log, you can see that both audio tracks are the same size:

When I tried this again in 1-pass mode 75%, it resulted in the expected AC3 and MP3 tracks i.e. it worked fine. But I need to get 2-pass working again.

I wanted to revert to a pre-2.15b version but I just cleaned-out all my recent versions. Any ideas???

It was always like that in 2 pass mode: either both tracks are the same or in auto mode first one is AC3 only if target size is more than 700Mb...

No, if you want to crop wide screen movie to 4:3 or letterbox it - AutoGK is not a tool to go for.

Thank you; well, this explains it. I was attempting to encode a small portion (100Mb or so) of a movie to check encoding results.

I suppose there is a reason why "no AC3 if <700Mb" but ... well it might be nice to make 2-audio-track Xvids of movie trailers which are usually <100Mb. I will stick to single-pass for these I guess.

len0x
27th August 2005, 00:39
You just can't have AC3/MP3 combo for <=700Mb, but you can have AC3/AC3 if you selected that option in advanced settings.

What's the difference beetween the Koepi xvid (04/04/2005) and the version that you included in AutoGK 2.16b? Is AutoGK fuly compatible with the Koepi version?

len0x
1st September 2005, 20:16
Its celtic_druid's CVS builds (change log here: http://celticdruid.no-ip.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4) plus MTK profiles done by him as well. Its fully compatible with official beta 2.

Is it normal to get different compressibility results when switching between Xvid and Divx?(autogk 2.16b) For example I got compressibility of 107.70 with xvid and 77.04 with Divx 6.(all other settings identical)

len0x
8th September 2005, 21:01
yes, divx6 has compressibility of 20-25% lower than divx5 because of changed quantanization

Q1: The last time my output avi from AGK 2.16beta was confused by fuse.exe (to make divx media file with switchable subtitle) although I already check "stand-alone" support in Hidden option (MTK i think - what is the difference with ESS, btw?). The fuse's test FAILed but it proceeded anyway. Tecnical information shown in divx player shows that the resultant divx file is NOT certified.

Q2: If I already satisfied with the 1-pass output, how can I set it just to do 1-pass?

If you don't report problems with this latest version in the forum there is a chance that they won't be fixed at all and go to may-be-last-stable release of AutoGK.

Does this mean that the development of AutoGK will stop, after the next stable version?

Some months ago when I answer, in the forum, if there was possibility to improve program with possibility to choose in context menu (Step 3) Video Bitrate in order to relaize all DivX with same bitrate, people reply me that are not possible respect the bitrate and explain also why is not possible.
Ok the reply, but Now I reply again, because testing an easy program, I have discovered that to obtain this is only necessary use a DivX calculator as (Ecuador AVI Bitrate Calculator), that I'm using, and calculate
the custom size in MB to insert in AutoGK to obtain the bitrate choosed from user + or - 0,1 - 0,2 % .
In fact in calculator user inserts the exact time of movie (example 103,21112 minutes), the exact bitrate of Mp3 or Ac3 audio of movie
and the bitrate that he wants and program shows the MB utilized from DivX that user will realize.
Then user inserts this parametre in Custom Size of AutoGK (That have 2 pass encoding) and the purpose is relized.
Why is not possible make this if is enough a calculator to obtain the parametre to insert in correct field of your program ???
Thanks
and sorry if I insist on this point.

it is a very nice program. and he should not stop working on it .. that is a very stupid think to say
if you like to use it use it if you don't dont . but he has already said he is not giving it out and that is it why harras him about it.
let me ask you a question if he gave you the source code would you pay him for all the time and effert he put into the program. probably not.

I have five VObs as VTS_01_1.VOB,VTS_01_2.VOB, ect. AutoGK only extract subtitle form the first one (VTS_01_1.VOB), while the whole VOBs was converted into avi correctly.

How can I intercept the process and let AutoGK use the subtile file extracted by Subrip?

Hi, Len0x, Long time no see.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I have experiencied this problem with every movie which spans 2 disks, regardless of AutoGK version. Now using 2.18b.

I use Target Quality 75%, 640 fixed width and 128VBR audio, english audio and spanish subs for the first disk. Encode works perfectly.

Then I use the same settings with the second disk. Audio is out of sync (late) by some seconds, and subs are way out of sync, by some minutes (late).

I ripped both disks to different folders, same settings, using DVD-Decrypter IFO mode.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any known fix?

Best regards,
r6d2

If they are being encoded from different folders I do not see how there can be any problems. How many sources did you try ?

r6d2
23rd September 2005, 00:19
The last I tried was Rose Red. I've had the same problem with others too.

The problem seems to be non deterministic. I did another encode at 720 width and the out of sync is different.

These are the logs, for if they are of any help.

On this one the audio is behind by 50 seconds, and there are no subtitles at all.

@len0x

Does the problem, mentioned in this thread http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=100275

@r2d6
it is really weird, And from what I see - the number of frames is slightly different in both cases. Did you rip them differently?
