Hi-
You can cut vobs with ChopperXP (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Vobtools/chopperxp.zip) or MPEG2Cut (http://mitglied.lycos.de/darkav/menu.html), among others.

Thanks,
but basically i need guidance on how to identify the "bad parts" of the VOB...
len0x
14th February 2005, 11:52
Once you know which vob is bad - load it in DGIndex and watch carefully when the error occurs: you have to estimate at what position that happens. Another approach would be to cut parts of 50/100Mb from the end of the vob until you still have an error and then do the same from beginning of the vob :)
bourtzovlakas
14th February 2005, 12:31
Thanks,
I will try it today, when i get home from work...
Can you estimate about the size of the bad part and whether it is only one?
len0x
14th February 2005, 14:32
Well we only care about having just one bad part. Garbage in the VOB should not be larger than 5Mb I think, so you may be able cut out part as small as 10-25Mb (that will require more time to find though).
len0x
14th February 2005, 14:42
Several bugfixes and improvements. I have AVI mode working (its not enabled in 1.91), so I did some core changes that hopefully didn't break anything. Still waiting for more reports about oversized DivX encodes...
bourtzovlakas
14th February 2005, 16:32
I followed your instructions and i found a "bad part" at the end of the first VOB.
The part i chopped was from 19.35 sec(a couple of seconds before the freeze) till the end of the VOB,at 22.26.
According to Chopper XP,the predicted filesize of this part is 129Mb...
After the chopping,i got a file of 39.9Mb...
Is this expected???
I tried to open the other VOBs in DGindex, but i get an error message saying "Mpeg1 streams not currently supported"...
Is this what you are looking for?Where should i upload the VOB?
len0x
14th February 2005, 17:21
I've send you a PM. But it worries me that you got that mpeg1 error - may be you can increase the size of the part and make that message go away?
bourtzovlakas
14th February 2005, 17:33
No, you have mis understood me...
I get no error, when trying to open the chopped part...
I get this error when i attempt to open VTS_0x_2,VTS_0x_3,....VTS_0x_5 manually in DGindex...

Hello len0x.
A small gui bag in AutoGK 1.91:
When I run AutoGK, it starts in DVD input mode and the icon is the icon in File input mode (just in front of DVD icon....).
len0x
14th February 2005, 18:21
I knew that there was a reason I've put that code there :)
You see, when I fixed the bug of minimizing/maximizing - I could not remember why that particular piece of code was there, so I removed it - now I know why :)

Hey!! something more....
When you start AutoGK the Preview button is enabled. If you change DVD input -> File input it is disabled again..
if you click Preview button you get:
[15/2/2005 3:11:56 ìì] AutoGK 1.91b
[15/2/2005 3:11:56 ìì] OS: WinXP (5.1.2600).2

EXCEPTION: Input VOBs are not found.
*************************************
[15/2/2005 3:11:56 ìì] Job finished. Total time: 0 seconds
====================================================
and then the button is disabled again.
I believe that if you have not vob input or file input, the Preview button must be disabled.

indeed, its the same problem as with icons actually...

Did you try Vob Blanker 1.6.0.4 on Forgotten?

15th February 2005, 15:45
After installing Auto gk 1.6 and the 191b beta I can't run virtualdub mod anymore. I get a microsoft C++ runtime error-wether I run the vdubmod in the auto gk directory or my old one.
Anyone have a fix for this?
I did a search for the msvcp60.dll and all is there so I don't know why vdubmod won't run anymore?
len0x
15th February 2005, 16:02
AutoGK installer does nothing to the system... You can't even run VDubMod (not encode)?
tickey
15th February 2005, 16:03
as soon as I click on vdubmod I get the runtime error so the program does not start at all.
tickey
15th February 2005, 16:10
oh and the plain virtual dub works ok still!
tried downloading it again from sourceforge and i get the c++ runtime error as well.

I am not familiar with that program...
I will look in to it...
Should i use it with the original disk or with the decrypted files?
len0x
15th February 2005, 16:15
Decrypted files (it requires full rip and IFO as well - that's why I can't try it on your sample).
bourtzovlakas
15th February 2005, 16:24
You mean rip with DVD Decrypter in File mode?
I already have it ripped in IFO mode...
len0x
15th February 2005, 16:27
you can try IFO mode first, if it doesn't like it then File...
tickey
15th February 2005, 16:31
any thoughts on this runtime error or is it time to reinstall windows?
bourtzovlakas
15th February 2005, 16:38
The program only accepts IFO VGM files, so i guess IFO mode is not an option...
I will rip in File mode and report later tonight...
By the way, what am i suppose to do with VobBlanker(excuse my ignorance)?

15th February 2005, 17:03
I just download vdub-mpeg2 and it works ok.
I'll rename it and try and use it with auto gk!

Look on the net for the latest visual c++ runtime libraries. Download those libraries and replace the files in windows\system32 folder.
Some OTHER program overwritten those libraries with an older version.

Start -> Restore DGIndex -> (open a new DGIndex) Manual cut IN & OUT -> Write .d2v -> (with new instance), close both DGIndex, does not longer work (1.91) - AutoGK just idle.
[edit]
1min later - how odd..pressed "abort" once, and it started..wierd.
Noticed when you restored back DGIndex and pressed ESC (this normaly stops the processing), closed DGIndex.
[edit again]
2min later. After processing audio, it really aborted.
Wierdest log i have ever got ;) - check this.

Hi-
bourtzovlakas-
or anyone having trouble with DVDs with that new protection (Shaun of the Dead, Resident Evil-Apocalypse, The Grudge, Little Black Book, etc.); first make sure you have the latest DVD Decrypter (3.5.2.0), and keep an eye open for the next version which will correct the problem automatically. Follow the instructions as given by LIGHTNING UK! in this thread:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87774
If that doesn't work, or it's too difficult, or you don't understand the instructions, then run the files through VobBlanker:
http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Vobtools/VobBlanker_1604_exe.zip
To do that, you'll need all the files ripped in File Mode from DVDDecrypter, or ISO'd and mounted using Daemon Tools (probably a better idea). Make sure the files are all marked as Process, and then hit Process at the bottom. You'll need some hard drive space for this, as it's going to rewrite all the files again. There are some more complete instructions in this thread:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=89573

Indeed. This functionality is gone for good as its impossible to stop DGIndex when it was started from CLI anymore...

maybe a little bit off topic, but i'm looking for my own application some modern icons. I like the ones in your application. Are they from a collection, and are they free? And from which site?
Thanks
len0x
17th February 2005, 16:37
Afaik they are internal windows (or may be other MS application) icons, that were polished and converted to a proper format by ydobon. They are not part of any collection on the web (at least I didn't get them from there).
ydobon
17th February 2005, 17:00
Yep. They all come from Windows DLLs. I converted them to PNG to make them look good at any color depth. I'm not sure if such use goes against any license. Microsoft doesn't say much (http://www.microsoft.com/permission/copyrgt/cop-img.htm#Icons) about it.
But such conversion is not really necessary. You can always access an icon from a DLL (http://www.scalabium.com/faq/dct0084.htm) directly (Delphi link).

Well...
...in software applications...as they are NOT to be used as "artwork" or design elements.
Seems to me this would be a case of use as design elements, but I think Microsoft wouldn't care much or even notice (this is a pretty low-profile usage). Lots of Windows screen shots including similar things are up on websites and could also be considered "design elements" because of that.

Hi,
any news about the sample clip,i sent you from "The Forgotten"?
Have you been able to locate the origin of the problem?
len0x
18th February 2005, 17:40
I can't play it properly, which means that it was not properly ripped/converted. Blank cells should not affect the playback of original VOBs (otherwise it would be impossible to play them in DVD players), but what i see in the video sample is just a lot of garbage put on top of good video...

Hi len0x,
First of all thanks and congratulations for agk.
With this last version I'm experiencing oversize.
I've the latest version of Dvddecrypter, Xvid.
I've attached the log file. The number of frames in the xxx_movie.avs is identical to the one in the log file.
Sorry if this has already been posted and answered here.

Is it 700Mb vs 723Mb? Can you post the exact size of final AVI please.
Also can you please attach two d2v files - one that is made by latest AutoGK (you don't have to wait until movie is converted, just abort encoding after demuxing step) and manually by DGIndex 1.0.12 (you can get it from here: http://www.neuron2.net/dgmpgdec/dgmpgdec.html).
It worries me though - PAL sources should not have any problems. And XviD should never have oversize anyway, coz its the target size that is set and only overhead calculations may influence resulting size (but not by 23Mb...)
P.S. attachements will only appear after I authorize them...
