Angles are tricky because vobsub needs this as a parameter. But since I have no idea which angle was selected when ripping I just launch vobsub to index first one. That is why probably subs are out of synch...

yeah, that's why i indexed them seperately and replaced them.. ;D

I have a feeling that auto G-knot does not handle pure interlaced NTSC sources well. With those, Auto G-Knot usually determines that the source is hybrid even though it is not. I figured it would still deinterlace properly, but in the last rip I clearly noticed some jerky playback in spots. As a test I encoded one of those spots with Divx 5.1 using Tomsmocomp and then it plays smoothly. I'm sure these sources are pure interlaced. They are shot on video originals.

Hey lenox,
would it be possible to make it so that GKif4u automatically checks for updates on the internet when one opens the program? It would really be nice if you could do that.
Thnx for your time.

What does the log say ?
Is it detected as hybrid mostly NTSC?
I need to see statistics for that...

*EDIT* also what % of FILM do you see in the d2v file ?

Here's the info you ask for from the log files:
Analyzing source.
Source has percentage of interlacing in motion areas: 76.52
Source has percentage of telecined patterns: 5.61
Source has percentage of progressive patterns: 11.69
Source has percentage of interlaced patterns: 82.70
Source is considered to be hybrid (mostly NTSC).

@ZZZERO

So, looks like you have considerable amount of telecined patterns in the source. All I can do is raise limit from 5 to 6% when detecting hybrid source.

try this version (RC2):
http://len0x.leffe.dnsalias.com/AutoGK.0.5.rc2.zip

p.s. which source is that ?

@GizmoDerMokwai

I like the shape, but not the color... Current colors of GK are yellow, green and blue. It would be cool to have gradient transformation from one to the second and to the third...

Well, last night I made a encode of T3: Rise of the Machines (region 1 DVD) with Auto GKnot 0.49 and I must say...

WHAT A GREAT TOOL!!!

The encode looks great, and I haven't had to set anything! Len0x, keep up with this fantastic work!!!

Hi GizmoDerMokwai,
The style reminds me Harrypotter. My suggestion is if you/your friend could design a couple of styles using different fonts then it would be better to decide which is good. If possible different colors too.:)

BTW, this one was nice.

Lets see what it's gonna look like in different color.

But I was thinking (about font) - it's pretty much state of the art tool and logo should reflect that - we're in hi-tech industry here, so it should be hi-tech logo :)

it would be nice if someone put those AutoGK(GKif4u)-files on some P2P network (like ed2k or fasttrack), cause the main dl ist reeeally slow. This would be nice legal usage of those networks.

Yes, I really need them, so whoever can provide me with at least ~50Gb/month of traffic please PM or email me...
I though there were a couple of web site hosters who offered me a place for a mirror, but I haven't heard from them afterwards...

p.s. this month main download site has already 85Gb of downloads...

Hi-

but is there a reason it didnt see the version of avisynth i had installed previous to installing your program?

My guess is that you have different versions installed in different places, but I'm not really sure. But if you have the problem again, and are wondering what version VDubMod is seeing, then make yourself an .avs named:

Version.avs

and inside, have just this one line:

Version()

Then open it in VDubMod and see what it says.

that is not a problem at all. it's just a parameter in the vobsub IDX file. I will add this option after version 0.5.

Hello!! I found a small bug in AutoGK RC2. If you start a job and then abort it everything is OK. But if you Preview a job and then abort it, the button "Abort" still remains enabled and if you try to exit the program you get the message "Please abort the job before quitting the application". You can press the Abort button many times but nothing happens. To quit the program you have to press "Start", then "Abort" and THEN you can close the program.

except that... i believe that everything is perfect.... len0x thanks!! Your program really rocks. Can't wait for DivX support..!!

Wow!

Just finished my first movie (Starship Troopers) with GKItFast and I'm extremely impressed! This is quite possibly THE best frontend for DVD backups. I don't know how it works, but the encoding only took me 5 hours total. The results are better than almost everything I was making before with DivX5, though that probably says more about my lack of knowledge when it comes to choosing the best settings.

You've definitely convinced me to switch to XviD.

Great work!

No, it doesn't. AutoGK will not be able to automatically support new versions (and will only work well with the version included in the distribution). At a very least resizing algorithm will be off, but in case of XviD 1.0 they changed quite a lot of options and registry settings, so it won't work at all. I do not plan to support beta versions of 1.0, but as as soon as it gets stable I will.

I've been playing around with divx5 resolution adjustment for AutoGK and came to the point when I have to make a choice: when to use b-frames and when not to use them. DivX5 comptest is usually 10-20% higher than xvid (and there is a reason for that), so I was wondering if when going for more than 1 CD I should use b-frames straight from the beginning or turn them on at a given resolution. Basically it's iether maxed out resolution with brames or lower without... Personally I always try to get resolution on or above 640*xxx without bframes first, and only then enable them (and this is possible at least in half of the cases when going for 2CDs). So what's the opinion here ?

rmagere
30th November 2003, 22:37
When I encode in 2cds I almost always go for 704*xxx (or the highest resolution before I start having zoom > 100) and enable b-frames, and I wouldn't like to get a smaller resolution but with no b-frames in its place. So my choice would be for no b-frames only if maximum feasible resultion can be achived.

@len0x,

1) Is that possible to perform the "analyze movie" before the audio
encoding ?

2) Is that possible to perform the "compressibility test" before the
audio encoding just use the simple audio calculator ? I think we
can calculate the audio size (even not too acculate) without waiting
the audio encoding which sometimes takes so long time :(
You know, sometimes I have to abort the process after I know the
compressibility test result, and after I adjust the setting I have to
wait another audio encoding process :(
My idea is put the audio encoding runs 1 step before the first-pass.

Thank you.

I though there were a couple of web site hosters who offered me a place for a mirror, but I haven't heard from them afterwards...
Sorry about not getting back to you... I work retail, not a lotta free time lately.

Right now I'm only using 5GB accounts for my domains, I've looked into the possiblilty of upgrading my accounts but to handle 50GB or part of it would jump my costs 100x current. I'm looking into how I can spread some load around all the accounts, setting some bandwidth limits on each account. I will try to get back to you as soon as possible, but good intentions aside, I'm afraid that due to speed my mirrors would hit limits in a couple days and be useless. Still something can be figured out.

The thing is, when you use vbr, you can't really calculate the final file size, because vbr bitrate is mostly lower then the one you really set. ex: setting 160kbits mostly gives you final 150kbits.
With precalculation of audio you wouldt lost some space for the video...

Analayzing step can be done before audio encoding, but comp test can't for the reason GizmoDerMokwai said.

@mikeathome

Forced subs cannot be included automatically at the moment, but I will add this feature in the near future. (there is a line in the IDX file which switches them on, so if you can edit than line manually after subs are riped but encoding has not started yet, then it should do the trick)
