Can someone tell me whether VAQ will be disabled if you use the MTK/Sigma preset?
Hi,

No, VAQ is (Atm) disabled only when using cartoon mode. I have had my best results using VAQ and sharp matrix from the MTK-SAP preset.

If you want to encode without VAQ, you need to use an older rev like 2.52 or manually disable it with AGK-Pal.

May I ask why you want to disable what is a major evolution in xvid since a long time -15 to 20% size improvement or more- with little to no quality loss (besides subs or incrusted text) ? ... see my post n° 4636 page before

Hey BigDid and thanks for the response.

I'm not trying to disable it, but I'm moving from a TVIX playback device (with a Sigma chipset), to a Vista MCE box, and just trying to work out what limitations are put on the file when I have the MTK/Sigma box ticked.

I still use the TVIX, but less and less. I looked around to see what sort of impact it has, but I can't really get any answers. VAQ is very good news!

Hi,

Thanks for the answer. I use a Peekton player (Sigma chip) but less since I have a LG-RHT387H dvd player/recorder with HD on the main TV; both plays the AGK-MTK presets without problems.

I am thinking to finally make the migration to x264/Mkv and the possible AGK evolution are good news.
I am struggling with different x264 encoders (AutoMkv, Xvip4psp, M4ng and Megui) to get the basics and make encodes that will be compatible either with a BD/HD player like Sony or Samsumg or try what seems a little marvel the WD Tv bOx:

I'm using XVID4PSP for my h264 encoding for the MCE box, but it takes MUCH longer to encode, and I'm thinking that with VAQ improvement I might just go back to XVID. AutoGK has always served me so well, and disc space is so cheap....

Hi
How can i change properties of xvid, before add task.
For example i want to change maximum i-frame interval.
Is it really?

How can i change properties of xvid, before add task.
You can't.
For example i want to change maximum i-frame interval.
Then either use Gordian Knot or start encoding manually.

Wu-Tang

And if change encoding settings in xvid panel before run autogk, and after add task, then autogk will use that settings?

manono

As far as I know, no, it won't.

Wu-Tang

I am deplore.
I think to try to do it in Gordianknot.
And can i ignore result of test compressibility, if it errored?

manono
28th February 2009, 06:26
In my opinion, the compress test is one of its (and AutoGK's) best features. Do you get an error message when it fails?

Wu-Tang
28th February 2009, 18:53
No, errors didn't be.
When file compress well, sometimes Autogk wrong to do undersized, so i wanted ignore result of test compressibility. To Autogk don't undersized.
Do you understand y idea?

manono
1st March 2009, 02:31
Yes, I understand. But, if you don't run a compress test you're just as likely to get undersized encodes as you were when using AutoGK. More likely in fact, if you are going to increase the number of B-Frames from AutoGKs one B-Frame.

Hi folks,

I was just test driving the AutoGK 2.55 and when I tried using the "Preview" feature of the AutoGK ... the "Media Player Classic" said that it can NOT play the Audio since I am missing some Codecs. BTW, I have Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

Well, the same VOB I can view with MPC 6.4.9.1 20081210 just fine and the audio plays back A-OK.

I tried replacing the MPC within AutoGK with this working version and the same result again ... no Audio Sound. So, something happens or blocks MPC from playing back the Audio within AutoGK.

BTW, I took the AutoGK MPC version and tried to play it outside of AutoGK shell and tried to HOOK itself into some .dll and even then it DID NOT play the Audio.

Q1: Does anyone know how to fix this? Can lenox look into this problem please!!!

Q2: Diff Q ... How do you include the "Selectable" Subtitle from a VOB into your AVI output?

Thanks,

G!:)

Hello and welcome on the forum.

1/Can you :logfile: thank you; should be named xxx_agk.log; xxx being the name of the avi output and in the same directory as the output avi file.

2/The alert (avisynth removegrain related) seems to imply a denoise filter named removegrain, do you use avisynth filters outside AGK and/or have you installed other avisynth filters after AGK was installed?..

Did

nurbs
10th March 2009, 22:10
Removegrain doesn't support that colorspace. I guess most filters don't since everything you get from DVD and Blu Ray (and I think also broadcast TV) is YV12 (4:2:0) anyway. Add ConvertToYV12() to your script right after the video is loaded.

BigDid
11th March 2009, 00:00
Hi nurbs,

There is no (direct) manual intervention in AutoGK. A typical mpeg2 source script (dvd or other) looks like this:
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\AutoGK\DGMPGDec\DGDecode.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\AutoGK\filters\autocrop.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\AutoGK\filters\RemoveGrainSSE3.dll")

movie = mpeg2source("G:\RIP\PLANET_OF_THE_APES_DISC1\agk_tmp\Essai Apes 75_Heini_sap_Vaq.d2v")
cropclip = autocrop(movie,mode=0,wmultof=4,hmultof=4,samples=10,aspect=0,threshold=34,samplestartframe=0,leftadd=0,rightadd=0,topadd=0,bottomadd=0)
fixed_aspect = 1.42222222222222 ...

The d2v file comes from DGIndex which is automated from AGK but can be created manually and used as source. Don't ask me the internals of DGIndex I don't know them

Did

nurbs
11th March 2009, 00:47
AFAIK you can't change the output colorspace in DGIndex. So if he can't change the script there is nothing he can do. He shouldn't even be able to encode it if he disables the filters, since the encoders (at least the xvid and x264 CLI applications) expect YV12 as input. Maybe it's different for the vfw encoders, don't know.

Sorry, my mistake. You said you wanted to change the I-Frame interval and nothing about the B-Frames. In any event, you can't change the XviD settings, including the I-Frame intervals, from within AutoGK. You'll have to use Gordian Knot or learn to encode manually. It's not hard, you know, and there are plenty of guides around to help you learn.
Can i use new version dgindex?
Yes. Just make sure that you replace both DGIndex and the DGDecode.dll

manono
18th March 2009, 20:22
Oh, I see. I don't see why you can't update whatever you like, except for the included XviD. My understanding is that you're not supposed to use certain XviDs, but I'm sure others know more about that than I. And you'll never be using the DGVfpi.vfp, so it doesn't matter which one you have.

Is that when using V. 2.45 or 2.55? The reason I ask is that beginning with 2.50 AutoGK used a version of DGIndex that demuxes the audio differently. If it's only 2.45 where you have the problem, you might have to go back to the earlier version of DGIndex. If it's both, then I guess you'll have to go back and use the DGIndex that comes with each version, and my earlier advice was wrong. Sorry, but I had forgotten that more recent versions of DGIndex demux the audio using different commands.

I wanted replaced it because sometimes had bags, such as:

Now, i understand that it will not prove.
It's very badly.
And i don't use 2.55 because VAQ dont like me...

manono
21st March 2009, 00:26
Yes, that field order problem was solved after 2.45. As for VAQ, I don't like it either. But what kind of problem are you having with it?

If you upgrade from 2.45 to 2.48, 2.50, or 2.52, then (I think) you can use the newest DGIndex, you won't have the Field Order Transition problem, and you won't have VAQ. VAQ began with 2.53.

den78
22nd March 2009, 20:01
vaQ only looks good with EsS enabled (because of h.263 quantization) ...& with mpeg looks pretty bad, well, 4 me anyway.
It would be great if there is an option to turn it on & off...
btw, is it possible to change "display AR" like in GK? I really miss that option... cause i mostly convert dvb recordings, & some of them have a really bad AR.

2.52 beta

- fixed file split bug (introduced in 2.50a)
- XviD updated to the release version of 1.2.1 plus VAQ patch (VAQ is not used by AutoGK yet though)
- Avisynth updated to the version 2.5.8

My question was about AutoGK and i asked in the very thtread AutoGK was discussed, so i think that BigDid had been mistaken, because VAQ is a part of AutoGK.

I have also problem with riped oryginal shrek dvd....autogk conwert it to avi but in first scene have problem with multiple language credits...in final file all language credits is showed
I have proposition..i think about "Auto Size" funciotn in autogk....we can set minimum audio and video quality (audio - format and bitrate, video - bitrate or percentage quality), and AutoGordianKnot set other parameters like required file size (with step like now used in autogk) automaticly....

Hi,

Then read the FAQ and the manual, it's a good start.

For settings, It is not directly. Either look at an encoder with more manual settings like Automkv or GordianKnot revived by den78 or try AGKPal with no real customer service, the author doesn't seem available these days..
