Changing DivX to XviD codec with MP3 audio (not AC3), the result is the same.
If I do the same in version 2.27 (not beta), It works perfectly.
Is there any solution to the problem? Thanks a lot.
Pardon for my english, I'm from Spain. :)

A bit of a bummer, that I had to modify vStrip.dll again, but finally we are back to where 2.27 stable was with version 2.36 beta.

Hi len0x, i use your great program from much time without any problem, but with the last ones relase every conversion stop
without warning at 14% of first pass.
With the same settings the 2.30b works perfectly.
What determines this unexpected block?
P.S.
My computer is a AMD 3800X2 if it can be useful

What determines this unexpected block?
It could be the title - if you're encoding straight from the DVD and it happens to have one of the advanced copy protection schemes, it will stall.

Hoping to have understood the message, i respond:
No, the dvd they aren't protect and in any case only the last ones release they introduce the problem.
The same dvd with relase 2.27 or 2.30 not present any problem.

isn't there a way to rip subtitles with autogk in an ordinary old fashion old frame working subtitles like .sub or time working like .srt, couse all i get, even after trying every single option for the subs , is some idx file and a .rar archive with a bugged .sub file that makes my notepad stop-responding...????
P.S. here is a FAQ that i dont understand
4.3 Which codecs are supported?
- At the moment the only supported codecs are: XviD 1.1.x, DivX 5.2.1 Pro and DivX 6.0.3+ (as of 2.25). If you're using MTK/Sigma compatibility option then you HAVE to use XviD build supplied with AutoGK, otherwise you may use potentially any build of XviD 1.x. (alternatively you can get xvidvfw.dll from Celtic_Druid to use with latest XviD build here )
what does this mean: only supported codecs are: XviD 1.1.x, in the same time: otherwise you may use potentially any build of XviD 1.x... Now, i have xvid 1.2.x installed on my comp. when encoding has started, does it uses 1.2 xvid codec with autogk predefined options, or xvid 1.1.x is embedded in to the autogk, and all i can use is that?

Hi-
I guess, when you mention SUB and SRT in the same breath, that you're referring to the text based SUB format subtitles, the ones that can be easily read in Notepad. Both the text based SUB and SRT have to be created by OCR, and nothing, not even AutoGK, can do that automatically. No, what AutoGK creates for you is an IDX/SUB image based subtitle, one which can't be read using Notepad. So, to stop Notepad from freezing up, stop trying to open the SUB file in it.
If you don't like the IDX/SUB AutoGK gives you, you're welcome to OCR it yourself. Then you can open them all day long in Notepad. Don't know why you'd want to, though.

Hi,
Apologies if this has been asked before.
I can't complete the install of AutoGK 2.7. Whenever I get to avisynth, the installation stops with the error message, "Must have administrator rights to istall avisynth (Can't write to System Folder)".
I'm running Win XP. As far as I'm aware, I am the administrator (I'm the only user on this computer).
Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

I can't complete the install of AutoGK 2.7. Whenever I get to avisynth
always uninstall agknot and avisynth and vobsub and xvid then install fresh copy of agknot.
what i am doing,,, whenever there is new beta release. i am always uninstalling full software with all supporting tools and installing the last stable version without xvid and then installing beta last beta version....
hopefully it will solve your problem. if not then ask others and sure they will come to you with proper solution.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I was doing a fresh install. The exact error was something like: 'not able to write to the System directory -it's read only'
In the end I fixed it by:
1. Installing again (with everything *still* installed ie installing *over* the original installation) but deselecting everything but Avisynth. Installation gets a little further, but still doesn't fully install Avisynth.
2. Uninstall *everything* again, reinstall and Avisynth seems to finish installing properly (3.95 MB in Add/Remove Programs).
Don't know why this works, but it does.
Hope it doesn't give me any problems further down the line...

I have a quick question... can i reset the hidden options for autogk, couse i tried like every way, still the options stay, i unistalled it, removed reg keys with autogk name in them... none work? :)
ALL of the hidden options are set with a small text file that has no name, only an extention, and one of these files is created for each hidden option that you set (eg ".autocrop" or ".sharpmatrix" etc). Within that file the special parameters are stored as text. Nothing is stored in the registry.
MOST, but not all of these 'nameless' text files are project specific, meaning they get stored in the same directory as the source video files (your vobs or .ts files, etc). If you want to get rid of the specially set project specific hidden options, just delete those files.
The ones that are noted in the hidden options interface as being global (eg colorcorrect) get stored in the AutoGK directory, and get used for every encode after they are set.
If you want to get rid of those delete them from the AutoGK folder.

Nothing, with every made test the result does not change.
At 13% of the first pass, the cpu(3800X2) usage passes from 100% to 50% and therefore it remains, without errors.
What changes from the 2.30b to the 2.35/6b that it can cause this error?

Hi Len0x, today I have made an other test.
I've unistalled AutoGK and Xvid package, for install the new Xvid build(XviD-1.1.2-01112006); after i've reinstall AutoGK 2.27/36b without to select the enclosed xvid package.
I've encoded the same test dvd and strangely it is not blocked but the final size was not that one set up(750 rather than of 1100), moreover the subtitles them as in the previous tests they are not appearances.
P.S.
Strangely with this xvid build the cpu worked at 100% but in the ChangeLog i've not read the SMP support ??

I just encoded a movie using 2.36 beta (and ColorMatrix filter was used). I've seen that in the new beta, this filter has been updated, so should I repeat the encoding? I mean, this new filter provides more quality in color correction?
Thank you for this tool :).

First, a huge 'thank you!' goes out to len0x for his work on AGK - I've used it for years and love it. Nothing else even compares for ease of use and overall quality.
I've read the FAQ and searched here and don't seem to find an answer, so here's my Q: Is it possible to force audio to be re-encoded based on my setting on the 'Output audio type' radio button? I understand that it will do this by default if I choose 700 mb output file size, but it doesn't seem to work if the source is under a certain size. Further, I'd like to be able to use the target quality knob because I'm encoding for a hard drive based handheld device and I have to stay above a certain compression level to get acceptable playback. Incidentally the device (an archos av500) expects mp3 audio, while my source is primarily mpeg-2 / l1. I'd so much rather stick with AGK and XVID than use the cludgy software that came with the player (requires DIVX). :(
If there's no trick to force this to happen, then I suggest the logic behind the 'Output audio type' radio buttons be changed (at least when using a target quality setting).
Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi and welcome to the forum,
If I understand your problem you want:
- to encode in quality mode -and-
- to choose mp3 audio encode
If so, you have to
- choose target quality (whatever percentage) and
- go in advanced settings and choose mp3 audio (CBR or VBR) with whatever kbps wanted
- add job etc...
I just tried that (AGK 2.36b) and it does create a mp3 audio and a quality 1 pass encode. I don't have the time to wait for the encode to finish and check the mux (audio and video together) by Virtualdubmod to be made, but I expect it to be correct...
If I did'nt understand correctly, please come again and give more details.

Hi and welcome to the forum
Thanks, and thanks for the reply. Long time lurker, first time I've resorted to asking a question. :)
If I understand your problem you want:

- to choose mp3 audio encode
Yes, bang-on...
If so, you have to
- choose target quality (whatever percentage) and
- go in advanced settings and choose mp3 audio (CBR or VBR) with whatever kbps wanted
- add job etc...
Done that...
Unfortunately I get:
[11/7/2006 11:05:33 AM] Output codec: XviD
[11/7/2006 11:05:33 AM] Audio 1: Audio Stream 0 MPEG
[11/7/2006 11:05:33 AM] Subtitles: none
[11/7/2006 11:05:33 AM] Format: AVI
[11/7/2006 11:05:33 AM] Target quality: 75%
[11/7/2006 11:05:33 AM] Audio 1 settings: Original
[11/7/2006 11:05:33 AM] Started encoding.
Not sure why you see something different as I'm also using 2.36b. Maybe I need to blow away the settings, but I'm not sure where the audio options settings are kept. However, based on my understanding of the FAQ (see quote below) what I'm seeing is expected behavior.
From the AutoGK FAQ (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=72679):
2.3 How is first audio encoded in Auto mode?
- it's VBR 128Kbps if target size is 700Mb or less, in all others cases it's original AC3/DTS/MPA track. LPCM tracks are always converted to VBR MP3: 128kbps for 1CD or less, 192kbps for more that 1CD.

Just to add to the replies - I also use AutoGK for converting video to play on my Archos PMP (albeit an older version than yours - AV440).
And all I do is set the overall constraints (usually output file size) and then in advanced properties, force the output audio to be mp3, CBR, 160kbps.
Looking at your log, you either allowed the original audio to be processed, or there's a bug in that version that means such selected options are ignored?
Forcing mp3 audio output has always worked for me, though - but I cannot confirm with every version used that there isn't some bug that means the setting is ignored...

Please read carefully what was written;) you have to:
1/ go in advanced settings
2/ choose mp3 audio (not auto or original)
3/ set the kbps ex: (bottom button)
- CBR MP3
- 128 kbps
Try again ...

Would you mind testing something small (i.e. a music video or just a 5-10mb test clip) using the target quality setting?
One other thing, and I'm not sure it would make a difference but are you using xvid or divx?

As you can see, it is XVid, it is target quality and it is forced mp3 audio encoding.
AGK is performing, for me, exactly like intended with 2 different revs. Depending on your log we may get more informations on your problem. Please post the complete log or, at least, the parts I have provided.

I couldn't help but notice that your source has ac3 audio. Mind trying something with mp2 audio just for sh*ts & giggles?
Since I'm a clueless newb and cannot be trusted when I clearly articulate how I'm familiar with the 'Advanced Settings' and have selected the desired codec and bitrate... ;)

I will now attempt to reproduce this with 2.37b, and possibly an older build.
While I'm thinking about it, any idea where these global settings (Advanced Settings>Audio output bitrate / codec) are stored? I don't see anything in the program dir or the registry.

I cannot ATM, anybody else?

Trust works both sides; each of us can now believe the other :D
Thanks for the log and screenshots;
Your log states MP2 audio but also MPEG1 video, this may point the culprit cause MPEG1 as source was added late (after AVIs) and was picky at that time.
You may want to test MPEG2 video with MP2 audio to see if AGK behaves the same...
I will now attempt to reproduce this with 2.37b, and possibly an older build. The 2.27 is really stable

No, I believe it is a bug or an extension of the AVI (as video source) restriction: FAQ 5.12:
"- mp3 re-encoding is not possible due to LAME crashing on most mp3 sources"

len0x: This must be a bug in 2.3X betas mentioned since it works as expected in 2.26.

hint: CTRL-F11, if its enabled then advanced settings are totally ignored

Thanks - I noticed that reading the changelog just now. :) I must have inavertently turned it on while mucking around in there and forgotten about it totally.

I have such problem as EEPROM...
The 1pass freezes at 32%.
AGK 2.32b or 2.37b.
Trying Xvid from package and the new xvid.cvs.head.MTK.2006.11.08...
The source is 58min length DV AVI (Export from Premiere) or avi (frameserving from Premiere), the result is the same...
The CPU is the same as EEPROM - AMD64 X2 3800+.

I think AutoGK is great, but I did a stupid thing and installed Reclock.
This reclock thing is messing with AutoGk - if I run autogk with windows locked, reclock comes up with some message about my video card being incompatible, yet this messages doesn't appear if I've not locked the machine.
I don't want to leave windows unlocked, so I uninstalled ReClock.
Except it's not gone! Assume I can't get rid of all traces of Reclock, properly, so it doesn't interfere, is there a way of making AutoGK not use reclock?

Hi,
You could try to do a windows restore before the reclock installation or a registry cleaner (regcleaner?) and swipe manually any reclock traces...
