Hej Len0x Tried out V 227 works just nice. But I'm still having trouble with subtitles beeing chopped or not displayed at all.
Example: The Graduate no subs displaying at all in V. 220 V. 226 and V.227 but with V 1.96 subs are beeing displayed correctly.
Was Doing Star Trek NX-01 Series in V 227 and here subs are beeing displayed but... And I guess it's just due to testing that this hasnt been brought up. The Star Trek NX-01 Series in the beginning like 3 minuttes or so has Subtitles in Top of the Movie and Bottom of the movie at once. And the top subtitles are beeing chopped.
Haven't been able to use any version newer than 1.96 due to this problem. I know that most English ppl really doesnt see this as a problem :) but we are still a few who like subtitles.
Any solution or am I doing something completely wrong ?
Best Regards.

when converting dvd to avi using auto gknot, sound is not sync. in the start audio video is ok, but after some time is going out and at end of the movie it make a huge difference.
not all dvd are giving this problem, but mostly.
tried all possibile thing which i can do, i.e. even installing new xp sp1, moving back to win-2000 installing xp-sp2 but failed with same problem.
what i have noticed, when autogknot is calling azid-p4 program, i have noticed that while converting ac3 to wav file its giving some error msg and continue (not sure at this time about that msg but i think its something like: ere error and 2nd msg is sync found after nnn bytes (nnn=number of bytes, which might be 128 112 ....or any number))
also want to request to lenx0 to add one button in advance setting to call hidden options, instead of pressing ctrl+f9
by the way, before i was not having this sync problem, since i am using auto gkot for almost 2 years. only new thing in my pc is video capture card, rest all spec is same.

Bad Interleave in 2.27 :(
Original avi :
Interleave: 1 vid frame (42 ms), preload=512
AutoGK Output:
Interleave: 96 ms (2.3 v.frames), preload=96
The AutoGK output (I checked MTK support) create big problems in standalone players. :(
Gspot reported also:
Original avi :
0x2000(AC3, Dolby Laboratories, Inc) AC3
48000Hz 384 kb/s total (5 chnls)
AutoGK output:
0x2000(AC3, Dolby Laboratories, Inc) AC3
48000Hz 32 kb/s total (2 chnls) (there are still 5CH, but Gspot reported wrong)
even I checked to keep the AC3.

Hi-
You sure about that? I have a DVD/MPEG-4 player with a Mediatek chipset, and it plays AC3 with 96/96 smoothly, whereas it stutters with the default 500/1 interleaving.
Have you already tested in your player, and does it have an MTK chipset?

hey guys, newbie autogk user here ( so sorry if these are FAQs but I did a search and couldn't find the answer).
Can I specify Lanczos as the resize parameter?
Does AGK support HT/dual core processing?
Thanks!

1st April 2006, 16:39
Hi-
Lanczos is the default resizer. However, if you specify a fixed width and the result of the compression test comes in too low, then AutoGK will switch to using Bicubic resizing to help the compression a little bit. There's no way to force it to always use Lanczos.
I don't know the answer to the second question. It's not AutoGK itself that will or will not take advantage of the dual processors, but the programs it uses, such as VDubMod or BeSweet. I don't know if they are SMP aware or not. I'm sure someone else around here knows the answer to the question, though.

Some users and also me we have some bad experience with the interleaving and before burning the movie on CD I check this.
Also AutoGK used some custom matrix, and in many players the movie is not looking good:
Packed bitstream: No
QPel: No
GMC: No
Interlaced: No
Aspect ratio: Square pixels
Quant type: MPEG Custom
OpenDML (AVI v2.0)
Interleave: 95 ms (2.3 v.frames), preload=128
Audio frames: Split across interleaves

Hi-
Yes, I understand about the custom matrices. You don't want those, so if you have a Mediatek chipset, you want to apply the MTK (or ESS) option. But I'm surprised that you have audio problems with AC3 audio with 96/96.
You have 11 players with the MTK chipset? You must run a store I think. :)

Hi,
1/ LAnczos, using the fixed width should do the trick +if+ (as Manono said) the result of the comptest is high enough, if not just decrease the fixed width and try again until it uses Lanczos instead of bicubic (roughly 1 width decrease is about 5% more); more on the AGK calculation here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=797163#post797163
2/ HT/dual core, is supported, in the 2.27 release, at least in Xvid encoding with the 1.2 SMP celtic_druid build, see annoucement in first post and 1 report in this page: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=800415#post800415

hey guys, this auto gk seems like a really great program. Only thing I'm having problems with is so many of the settings seem to be automatic, and I'm looking for a little more customization. Here's some more detail on what I'm trying to convert:
I am re-encoding 960x544 HRHD xvids to a smaller resolution for compatability with a divx/xvid standalone player. I have the LG LDA-531 (Mediatek chipset) and have just started dabling in using XviD 1.2 to re-encode these files to 720x408 (largest accepted horizontal resolution with these players, I think) in VdubMod. The results look much better than the normal 350MB HDTV rips, especially on this player wich is HD upconverting.
I do 2-pass encoding with file size prediction to match the source file size. But I figure since I'm reducing the resolution, should I try and aim for a slightly smaller output file size?
My first test with AutoGK was somewhat successful. I did force the width to 720 but instead of choosing 408 for the height it chose 416. The result is the imagine is a little squished on the sides and I can see small black bars on the sides. Can I custom select the width *and* height in AutoGK?
Also it decided to filter with Undot() which I'd prefer not to have on. And finally, my player supports QPEL, BVOP, and NVOP but with the default settings in the MTK NTSC profile, these options are turned off. Can I customize the program to turn these settings back on?
Thanks for your help guys!

Just wanted to share that regarding SAP there can be more thant custom matrix like max resolution and max bitrate.
If you have a Mtk chipset, the MTK profile will ensure that the max bitrate for +any+ Mtk SAP will be respected.
Some, like mine, can accept half more bitrate this is why Celtic_Druid offers 2 profiles MTK and MTK 6000(kbp/s) the Mtk 6000 cannot be triggered by AGK but can be used with Agk Tweaker or encoding via VdubMod or so; use at your own risk.
On reverse, if you want the maximum compatibility with +any+ SAP player, use the ESS option. Bye.

1/ Since you are at ease with VDM you could try it the other way around: make the comptest(s) with AGK and customize in VDM
2/No for height but you can crop manually
3/depends on the source, undot() or removegrain(mode=1) is really non-destructive; Not mode=2, I prefer mode=5 for quite same results
4/Not directly, you can try AGK tweaker but may be easier, for you, to go directly with VDM. Bye

No, you can't set the height. AutoGK resizes by Mod16 (height and width divisible by 16) as it should, and 408 is only Mod8. Why do you say it's squished on the sides? When cropping and resizing AutoGK maintains proper AR. Did you measure some circles or something like that? And if you say there are black bars on the sides, how are you playing the AVI? Are they perhaps put there by the player? Please open the finished AVI in VDubMod. Does it still have black bars? If not, then it's a player issue. If so, then the Autocrop is failing and you can fix it in the hidden options.

Hi,
In regard of your different testings, are there SAP with MTK chipset that does'nt play properly xvid encoded movies with the Mtk profile?
I am targetting the encoding only, not the gui (like AGK) or the muxer ( like VDM). This because I remember reading a post where the author was saying that after trying the MTK and the ESS options (for playing in a MTK SAP, if I remember well) he sticked with the ESS for full compatibility... I did'nt ask more details at that time.

The codec is free, and user friendly in terms of use (playing movies) and encoding/transcoding sound.

Len0x please read this AUTO GKNOT Audio Sync Problem:
I asked this forum room to help me and some other Auto GKnot user to solve audio sync problem.
Ok. Let me put it once again and this time I will write in more details and some new experience about Auto GKnot Audio sync problem.
When converting DVD to avi using auto gknot, sound is not sync. In the start audio video is ok, but after some time its going out and at end of the movie it make a huge difference may be 5 to 25 seconds. But not all DVD are giving this problem, but mostly. And this make me mad to find what is actual problem.
By the way, before I was not having this sync problem, since I am using auto GKnot for almost 2 years. Only new thing in my PC is video capture card, rest all spec is same.
Asked my friends and someone told me that problem is in win xp-sp2 so, I installed win xp-sp1 but no success. Moved to win 2000 but still the same problem.
Removed my newly installed hardwares (blue tooth, infrared and capture card) and reinstalled win xp-sp2 and found the same problem still there. (note: everytime after installing new operating system, I was always installing agknot ver 2.27)
For now its clear for me that problem is not in hardware and operating systems. So, try installing old auto GKnot. Installed auto GKnot ver 1.60 and encoded the same DVD which was giving problem and first try everything was fine. Audio video was perfectly ok. And after keep on upgrading auto GKnot I got the same audio sync problem in ver 1.87beta
And in this auto GKnot ver 1.87beta I found that Len0x replaced Besweet to azid/normalize/lame as what he said there:
1.87 beta
- fixed some bugs on new hidden option window
- shortcut CTRL-F10 is removed
- for PCM/MPA audio tracks in auto audio mode default bitrate for > 1CD rips is 192kbps now
- BeSweet is replaced by azid/normalize/lame(3.96.1) combo (lots of testing required)
- minimum bitrate for both CBR and VBR modes is lowered to 32kbps
- removed timeout for demuxing operation
What I have noticed, when auto GKnot is calling azid_p4 program, I have noticed that while converting .ac3 to .wav file its giving some error msg [E7 crc error] 2nd msg is [sync found after nnn bytes] (nnn=number of bytes, which might be 128 112 .... or any number)
Now question is why some DVD’s are giving audio sync problem and why some are not. So, the answer is: when we are copying DVD to Hard disk using DVD Decrypter [I think one of the best] your DVD might have some bad sectors and DVD decrypter will recover these sectors or might ignore and write some dummy sectors. And that is the problem when azid_p4 is converting .ac3 to .wav file it can’t fix those bad sectors audio and that makes a huge problem in your output .avi file.
I would here like to request to Len0x to come back and remove these azid/normalize/lame and go back to BeSweet. [we might get some big MP3 file using besweet and for sure we will not get audio sync problem in this case (DVD decrypter)]
Len0x your tool is really a great encoding tool and thousands of people are using it and will remember you for long long time, but is it good to leave it with some bugs. I am not black mailing you why writing these emotional things here but we really like this tool and want to be in perfect working condition.
>>> Just put besweet and remove azid etc or make option for the user that what audio encoding tool he wants to use [BeSweet or azid/normalize/lame].
>>> Also add one button in advance setting to call hidden options.
>>> And put .divx and .avi option back (in advance setting, its disabled for long time) (we can create .divx using divx converter, but converting .divx in auto gknot is much better that divx converter)
>>> Fix other (if there is) forum problems. Like adding support for H-264
Auto GKnot ver 1.86beta is not that good like ver 2.27 because 1.86b or ver 1.60 stable does not support latest hidden options, no manual AR, old third party softwares, no support for mpeg1 old hidden option in ver 1.86b and no hidden option in ver 1.60 (use manual) Xvid is old and picture is not that clear like ver 2.27 and lot of more….
Len0x I sure you will come back again just for one more time for .avi & .divx to enable again and let user choose and go for besweet or azid or make it only besweet, and so solve other issue in forum.

Well...I'm not Len0x but if you have some CRC errors warnings with azid you can be sure to have the same things with BeSweet because this tool uses also azid engine.

Well...I'm not Len0x but if you have some CRC errors warnings with azid you can be sure to have the same things with BeSweet because this tool uses also azid engine.
Well kurtnoise13, I think its not going to fix this audio sync problem, because if we are doing it manual then we can run full manual batch, same like Auto Gknot. But doing it in AGK is good and easy if there is no bug/error.
Anyway what I did last night: installed Auto Gknot ver 1.60 and started encoding DVD which is having audio sync problem. But after it finished BeSweet and started first pass, I aborted the run (so, I got .MP3 file using besweet)
Then installed Auto Gknot 2.27 and started the same DVD encoding again from beginning but after azid_4/normalization/lame and right before starting first pass, I moved .MP3 file (created by BeSweet AGK 1.60) to temp agk folder and it overwrite the .MP3 file which was just created by ver 2.27
Let the full run finish and after that when I ran the .avi output file, audio/video was fine. Fine means it was not perfect because there was still less than ½ second difference. Which can be noticed if I watch the lips movement. But you will not feel any difference if sitting far and watching movie as normal.
Now there is one more problem for using AGK ver 1.60Stable and ver 1.86Beta:
Even I put output .avi file size to 700MB (1 CD) but for some movies I am getting output file bigger than that 700MB size and some are less than 700MB.
These were 2 test I ran yesterday, and I think ver 2.27 is ok if Len0x can add option to encode audio using besweet and let user decide how he wish to encode audio for his output .avi file.
BTW, if others are agree with for the final chances I am requesting to Len0x then we all should request to Len0x to make a full & final AGKnot tool without any bug or error, before he quit updating this application.
Thanks for all of you and Len0x for the great tool and for doom9 team for this wonderful website.

Well, if I remove BeSweet or Avisynth from installation folder AutoGK throws an error message on startup and dies. I'd consider AutoGK a work that relies on Avisynth. Avisynth is under GPL and thus any work that is built upon it ("derived work") should be GPL'ed too. Or am I missing something?
I'm pretty sure that there's a lot of code in AutoGK which has not been written from scratch and was simply taken from GKnot or VirtualDub. It would be simply fair to make the AutoGK source code public. But do what you want. Just my 2 cents.

But do what you want. Just my 2 cents.
Edit: Check this out:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#GPLInProprietarySystem
Your citing of this is based on a flawed premise.
AutoGK is freeware.

Well, if I remove BeSweet or Avisynth from installation folder AutoGK throws an error message on startup and dies. I'd consider AutoGK a work that relies on Avisynth. Avisynth is under GPL and thus any work that is built upon it ("derived work") should be GPL'ed too.
AutoGK (or GKnot for that matter) is not derived from AviSynth or Besweet, meaning it doesn't use any code from those programs. Sure, it relies on those programs, but that's not forbidden.

Any idea where len0x is gone.
I am waiting for bug free version of AutoGKnot. 100's of movies (vcd/dvd) to encode and just stopped because of audio sync problem. Getting out of disk space and don't want to buy any new HD, as already got 7 HD (1,00GB) in my PC.

Yes , Len0x stopped development on AutoGK months ago.
He made an announcement of that .. it's somewhere in this thread.
He's most likely busy with something else.

Hi all,
anybody here can help me how can i use besweet in agknot ver 2.27
i don't want to do it myself. i want to force agknot 2.27 to use besweet and bypass azid_p4 and default convertion of ac3 to wav and then wav to mp3
using agknot 2.27 i am having serious audio sync problem for some dvd's (check my pervious posts) but using ver 1.60 everything is ok but i can't change AR and 1.60 is using all old supporting tools including old xvid and divx
if you feel there is any other possible way to use then please write in details and help me to solve this issue, because Len0x might be not doing any change after 2.27 in near future.
thanks

Mail sent to mwvirk.
You have 11 players with the MTK chipset? You must run a store I think. :)
The players are at my home.

You can get a wider table and place the players side by side...
This way with only six shelves, you will have room for an additional player...
