then i tried 112kbps in advance setting but again output file was 192kbps.
hopefully new v will fix this problem,,, (just found the v2.55 and will try and update u also)

Quickly...
I'm use 2.45 version.

that should not happen with 2.55

i have come accross a weirdness with the new version.
my pc is an intel core i7 - i have had no issues running 2.45, works great and have used it for some time.

However when using 2.52 through 2.55 when i get to vdubmod compression test it crashes out with a an error
"memory access violation error in xvidcore.dll"
if i down grade xvid to version included with 2.45 works fine again, is a bit dodgy though.

also if i use agkpal to intercept the script, i can change the xvid codec settings, if i go into options and manual change the threads settings to 4 (was on 8 as i7's hyperthread the quad core to virtual 8 cores) and then continue it works fine.

i'm bascially asuming that the program cant handle the newness of i7, so i was wondering is there was anyway i could permanently adjust the proccessor threads to 4.

also i should mention that i tried to emulate agk settings and matrix's as best i could in staxrip and it worked fine.
however i love the simplicity and oneclick goodness that is agk

so any advice or thoughts on how i can get this to run on my system would be awsome.

Thank you for the new version! :thanks:

It came just in time before I was moving over to http://handbrake.fr/. Handbrake is based on FFmpeg, has a nice gui and advanced features like H.264 but it has no compressibility test and automatic downsizing of the video.

AutoGK is still the best DivX-Converter out there!

If someone wishes to sponsor i7 platform for me - I'll be happy to get AutoGK fully working on it

What if you use official 1.2.1 xvid build from Koepi for example, does it crash? If the problem is just in the 4 vs 8 threads then if I had i7 to test I could probably enforce 4 threads in such cases.

Guys,

I use a program called XBMC as my video browser. Normally XBMC has it s own internal player for all kind of video files. However, I want to use an external player (MPC-HC) for playback my video content. So someone of the XBMC community made a custom XBMC version with external player support. However, it isn t compatible with regular dvd content (a VIDEO_TS folder with included vob, ifo etc files). His version only supports single file video content like .mkv's, .wmv's, .mpg's etc.

Is AutoGK my friend in this one to convert my VIDEO_TS folders in a fast and user-friendly way? I don t want any kind of changes that influence the video or audio quality.

edit: I ve just read the manual and am I correct that in my case I would have to use Quality Mode @100% with everything else in the AutoGK settings on DEFAULT?

Like I said before: I want the EXACT same VIDEO and audio quality as it was before the conversion, so no changes to this at all.

Thanks guys.

Then you don't want AutoGK. Either decrypt your movie to the hard drive using a no-splitting option in the decrypter or use Vob2MPEG on the VOBs afterwards to create a single MPG.

thxz for your quick reply and sorry for my crosspost manono.

What you mean by decrypt my movie to my HDD using a no-splitting option?

My VIDEO_TS folder has a few .VOB files. Isn t the easiest way to use VOB2MPEG to create a single file?

I don't think it's so hard to understand. For example, if using DVD Decrypter, decrypt the movie to the hard drive in IFO Mode with No Splitting, and you'll get one big VOB file. Or, with the DVD already on the hard drive, use Vob2MPG on it:

I don't know anything about this XMBC THX-UltraII is using. Is there some sort of a 4GB limit? Does it use FAT32?

He said it can't play the DVD. Do you know of a different way to play it without it being reencoded and losing quality?

Neither do I...

Some serious limitations with or related to Xbox (wikipedia):

UDF (Universal Disk Format) file-system limitation: XBMC for Xbox only supports UDF version 1.02 (designed for DVD-Video media), which has a maximum file-size of 1 GB...
# The Xbox built-in harddrive is formatted in FATX which has a 4 GB file-size limitation, and only supports file/folder-names up to 42...

Does it apply to the modified version? I don't know

He said it can't play the DVD. Do you know of a different way to play it without it being reencoded and losing quality?
I DO agree with you, I was just pointing out one thing among many possible questions...

When you run AutoGK 2.55 on Windows 7
--and then hit CTRL-F9 to go to the Advanced screen
--and then select OK

You then get a error saying it can not write the .detect43 file (I think that was the file). Of course running AutoGK as an administrator works as well as changing the permissions of the "C:\Program Files\AutoGK directory". But I am not sure the average user would know to do this.

Don't know if the same problem is in Vista, but it works OK in WinXP.

Thought you would want to know.

Hm... I'm pretty sure that if you install it as admin but then try to run as an ordinary user you'll get the same kind of problems even on XP. If however you can't run it under the user you install it in windows 7 then its a different case (although average users will not be running windows 7 at this point anyway).

I installed it as user; and ran it as the same user and had this problem. I looked at the permissions and I did not have write access to this directory. I looked at a couple other program directories (thunderbird, firefox and ImgBurn) and noticed the same thing [Read and Execute permission only]. I guess that in Win7 they expect that all applications will use the %appdata% directory for user writable files.

I did notice that when I ran the installer it asked me for permission to to install the program, don't know if when I do that in Windows 7 it gives me Admin rights to install or not.

any chance of an option that could give us MAX quality (like in Fair Use Wizard does)

in fair use there is a slider that will dictate what mode to put the codec in, (Fast, medium, best, extreme ect)

as i find AutoGK tends to put the codec (Xvid or DivX) in a balance mode,

but i would happily give up time, knowing the codec in question is being pushed to the limit, and going to produce quality,

AutoGK is great and served me well, but I'm finding more and more others are producing better quality, FUW for one, but other GUI's are doing the same as well, but i think it's because the speed autoGK does a job,

FUW on MAX speed mode (max quality) gives me 30FPS average, AutoGK gives 92FPS, and the quality difference is noticeable,

i did ask for this feature a long time ago, but that when you were calling it a day and soon after all development stopped,

but this is one feature i would love to see now that your sort of back, and i feel it would really regenerate AutoGK and confirm it's position once again as being the daddy,

but aside from FUW none of the other GUI's are as intelligent as AutoGK, AutoGK makes all the decisions for us people that don't have the time to learn the ins and out of aspect ratios' upper field lower field first, resolutions, APR, ect

we like the idea of the program doing this hard stuff for us, but it would be nice if we could tell AutoGK to not worry about time, and just push that Codec to the MAX baby,

thanks,

and now we have quad core's, and the i7's (which will lead to 8 core's possibly even more) just round the corner, MAX ASP encoding is something that will not only be bearable, but will be quite quick, especially on the i7 (which i am planning to save for the reviews so far are outstanding for this processor, and the 920 option is actually a good bargain the way Intel has priced it) just a shame the motherboard itself is so expensive, who would of thought a motherboard becoming so expensive, how things change,

well i copied the entire dvd to a iso file with latest DVDFab, then mounted the image with Daemon Tools lite latest version,

the DVD is an exact copy of the original, and there was no extra protection on the disk just the standard CSS,

then i chose PGC1 in AutoGK which said the PGC is 28.36 minutes long,

but the whole disk was demuxed not just the episode i wanted, same with the audio side, and the calculation for the resolution is way to small, it's like it's calculating the size based on the length it thinks it's going to encode, 3 hours worth, but i only selected PGC 1,

so 350mb size, at 28.36 minutes long, the resolution should be a lot higher, or am i missing something?

6th February 2009, 22:59
so how do you suggest i encode a episode from a disc,

one idea i have is to not use IFO mode but rather select VOB files, encode everything by doing the math (6 episodes at 350MB each), so 350 x 6 = 2.1gb

then use a splitter program like VirtualDubMod to split the files in there 350mb form leaving me with 6 x episodes,

please tell me there's a better way?

i wish i could give you a suggestion on how to do it, but i don't actually know how FUW does it, sorry, i will look around to see if i can find out anything regarding this,

doesn't DivX have a profile selection mode like in there config tab (fast, slow, best insane) a bit like in lame mp3 there is a quality profile mode,

i will look around though and see if i can find any info on this,

Hi,

I don't use FUW but the slider/preset thingy sounds attractive. I need more info on the settings and I cannot find them with the manual (1.01) Do you have insights on the subject?

...
FUW on MAX speed mode (max quality) gives me 30FPS average, AutoGK gives 92FPS, and the quality difference is noticeable,

I am not enough expert in xvid encoding to guess what settings can cause a 1/3 drop in speed related to a 1/x increase in quality ... Are you?

If not, could you compare a sample in AGK and FUW to get more data (eventually get infos on the final avis with avinaptic...)

Oh and maybe this exchange could be more suited in the "lets get a new version of AGK out" thread, if so mods, feel free to move it

PS1: I believe I can download a full 2.8 version of FUW; if so I will try it by myself and come back here..
PS2: found another tutorial http://coloradojack.com/mediawiki/index.php/Fair_Use_Wizard_2.5_Tutorial

If you read that thread form the beginning you'll see that unfortunately there is no better way of dealing with episodic disks rather then processing then with DVDD one episode at a time... Your suggestion about setting the total size of 6x350 would only work indeed if you remove ifo files completely and just open first vob (in which case it will pick them all up automatically).

thankyou for your swift reply, unfortunate, but hey, nothing's perfect right?

oh, quickly looked at FUW, changed from "Encoding Speed" to "Codec Settings" then hit the "Codec Settings" tab, then up comes the DivX codec properties, there is indeed a profile's (pre-sets) and a number going from 0-10 (slider) perhaps that's what FUW manipulates with it's own slider bar, not sure what setting AutoGK sends to the DivX codec,

len0x
6th February 2009, 23:51
well, I will experiment at some point with splitting episodes via avisynth, so there might be some hope...

as for encoding speed I'm aware that DivX has different speed settings and know how to manipulate them, but I would not know how to do that with XviD as its already pretty much maxed out...

6.3 I used to use old XviD and now I switched to XviD 1.0.x. Since then I _always_ have _very_ undersized/oversized files. What's the problem?
- old XviD has to be uninstalled properly, i.e. just installing new 1.0.x over it is not a proper way. Try uninstalling old one, then reinstalling new one.

I'm understand, that i can reinstall xvid, yes, before install autogk 2.55, i don't uninstal old version xvid...
Now, do i can reinstall only xvid or autogk too.

Change the resolution or the bitrate of the audiotrack to higher numbers.
The Xvid encoder is saturated. It's maxed out with the settings you choose.
So dont blame AutoGk. Read some more...

Hi,

Taurus (hello friend) is right, you do not give AGK tools to adjust!
Use Auto(width) instead of fixed width; you can redo your test, same source and use auto for width and audio, ask for 1cd and see if it is still undersized...

PS: I have some infos for the AGK <=> FUW comparison, more to come later ...

Hello Mister,

My last post was a suggestion for testing ONLY and to verify if your encodes are still undersized.

Now you certainly are in right to not do what is suggested. In this case I will suggest NOT wasting time of this forums contributors, mine included. It will be my last post on the subject.
