How about other DXVA decoder? MPC DXVA, ffdshow DXVA and so on.

ffdshow DXVA did not accept the files (all Checks off), using LAV Splitter or HAALI in graphstudio.

PowerDVD12 Player in DXVA Mode plays it very well. But this software is a other story.

DXVA checker in benchmark mode shows corrupted image with LAV - http://postimage.org/image/qnxkkbjz9/
P.S. I have intel atom 2800.

Can you upload a sample for test.

Interesting. Do those streams have a specific file extension (like .ts)?

(the HTTP source filter can be configured for individual file extensions as well)

It's live TV. The url is something like this:

http://RECEIVER-IP:8001/1:0:19:1B1D:802:2:11A0000:0:0:0:

A streamproxy program on the DVB-S Receiver streams the TS Data this way.

I use VLC with buffer for this and it works good. MS URL Source works but writes everything in the IE Cache :angry: until the Cache is full, then the Playback stops of course.

I think it's a too small buffer(cache) in LAV Source because sometimes it works longer, if the Directshow Graph is build fast enough.

Hi nev,

Found this test clip via another thread on this board:
http://rapidshare.com/files/416586142/1.Twinpeaks1080p30fpsRef2-27Mbps.mov.html

Using LAV Video with no hardware acceleration, at about 5 sec there are two very noticeable bands of corruption (doesn't happen when CUVID is enabled). LAV problem or clip problem?

Thanks!

nevcairiel

The clip is broken. I wish people would stop using it. :p
With CUVID enabled it also happens, but you need to pay more attention to see it. CUVID has better error concealment, and manages to hide the error nearly perfectly.

Oops, sorry - I didn't know it was broken. The thread made no mention of that:

Suggestion: Make the tray icon for LAV Splitter white (like Haali Media Splitter) instead of light gray as it is now.

Well, check it by default.

Because its rather complex to do that, the filters can be loaded/unloaded at any time, and its hard to determine which filter should then manage the icon, etc,etc.
Its much easier to just let every instance manage its own icon.

I just don't care that much about the tray icon. :p

Woah, what? There's a tray icon?

I think the icons are just fine. One minor improvement would be to have the "A" stand out a little bit more for the "audio" icon and to have the "V" stand out a bit more for the "video" icon, so that it's obvious which icon is for audio and which is for video. E.g. in the blue icon, the "L" and "V" could be a light shade of blue, and the "A" could be a stronger (bold?) white. But then, the font is so small that I'm not sure it's possible to do this at all. And it's not really crucial, it would just be some cosmetical tweaking...

In those tiny 16x16 icons, i don't think i can really do much to make it really obvious.
The colors will have to be enough.

Make sure you also use LAV as Splitter, the Microsoft MPEG-2 Splitter has apparently issues with such files.

How can I force WMP12 to use LAV as splitter?
I see nothing in LAV Splitter Configuration :(

You don't think so? Look again: In the blue icon, the "A" is bold. In the red icon, the "V" is bold. The difference might be small, but it's clearly visible, making it intuitive that the blue icon is for audio and the red icon for video. Don't you agree?

nevcairiel
21st December 2012, 13:37
I'm not sure i really like it, i liked the slightly bolder L in my originals, and i also prefer a uniform icon just in different colors, maybe i'm weird like that. :)
Maybe i'll give it a try myself, the problem is that at that size the text is rendered with a lot of anti-aliasing/sub-pixel tricks, so directly editing it is tricky - and the icon already is pretty "full" (guess thats why you made the L smaller)

On the other hand, i think people can figure it out just the way it is, and maybe wouldn't even notice the different rendering of the letters.

madshi
21st December 2012, 13:50
Well, it's your baby, so you decide. No hard feelings either way. Personally, I do prefer the modified icons, but it's not really important to me.

(Making the "L" bolder again should be no problem at all. Just 2 "copy region" actions in MS Paint. I just preferred it less bold.)

The border trick is pretty much visible on my mobile phone screen even without enlargement, so I suppose they'll seem great as tray icons. Anyway, if not being used together with FFDShow, the original different colours are already quite distinguishable.

I googled a bit, and did not find a quick answer, so sorry if this has already been discussed, or does not fall within Lav Filters .......

Say a Transport Stream has multiple audio streams / channels, Left, Right, and Center, and I want to remix into one?

clsid
21st December 2012, 17:13
@Gruko
Speex should already work with default settings in LAV Filters.
WMP does not open unknown file types if you drag&drop them. You need to at least once open the file through File>Open menu to let WMP recognize the new file extension.

@more2read
LAV Audio decoder can only mix channels from a single audio stream. It does not mix audio from multiple streams. But I doubt your Transport Stream uses separate streams for each audio channel.

@nev
Can you add Registry options for show/hide the tray icons? GUI options are less important and can be done later. Perhaps move colorspace options in the video config to a new tab to create some space?

@nev
Any plans for a fallback to normal decoding if audio passthrough fails?

If you use Git builds, you will happen to get incomplete features.

quick question, should mpc's "fast seek (on keyframe)" be enabled / disabled, when using with lav splitter / filters. Or does it even matter nowadays. Couldn't find a definitive answer from google searches.

nevcairiel

It may cause issues if your file only has very few sync points (some broken encode), but it usually works fine.

So here is a test build with the new tray icons:

http://files.1f0.de/lavf/LAVFilters-0.54.1-55-g9236124.zip

There is no "advanced" functionality yet, meaning all the icons do is show up, and you can click them to open the the property page of the running filter.
They are disabled by default, all 3 filters have an individual option to turn them on/off.

I'll investigate how much effort would be required for the first draft of a context menu for LAV Splitter to allow stream switching.

Let me know if something odd happens with the icons. Note that if you forcefully kill a process, its icons will stick around until you hover them once, thats nothing that can be fixed, so just don't kill the process. :P

Think I missed something but why are deinterlace options not provided for QuickSync? How is deinterlacing handled in this case?

nevcairiel
21st December 2012, 21:07
Like with everything, the renderer is supposed to do it.
While QuickSync itself can also do it, i had quite some issues with it when i last tried, so i turned it off. Maybe one of these days i should re-evaluate the situation.

Not for me:) I play a video and all 3 icons appear, then while the video is playing I untick "enable system tray icon" in one of them then the icon disappears, I close MPCHC open a new file and they all reappear
Don't know if this affects this behaviour: I manually copied the files into x86 folder then in MPCH I refreshed the external filters...

nevcairiel

All i know is that it works. The fact that the icon disappeared already means the setting was properly saved. So unless for some reason the LAV key in the registry is write protected, but if it was write protected, you couldn't have enabled it in the first place.. :p

Do you mean you overwrote the "old" .ax files BUT you didn't RE-register the "new" ones? :confused:

FWIW, the tray icons are working as they should over here (XP w/ SP3) :)
