Seems fine with LAV Splitter + LAV Audio.
I don't know what you hear, but it doesn't sound like broken sound to me.

Here is a new test version:

http://files.1f0.de/lavf/LAVFilters-0.49-41-gd935c59+pdb.zip

It contains some bug fixes and i added support for RALF decoding (Real Audio Lossless). H264-ES should now work somewhat better, remember that you need to activate the "rawvideo" format in LAV Splitters configuration.

Pleast test if nothing new broke, especially with DXVA2. Can't be sure the fix i made for some decoding issues won't have any other side-effects.

I will be out of town starting tomorrow until sunday, if no major issues come up in that period this will be released next week as 0.50.

Edit:
Updated .zip URL for a package with .pdb files for potentially better bug reports.

I'll do some testing tonight and hunt down what's causing it, I haven't been able to test the latest build to see if it changes anything. It only happens with QuickSync and yes I'm using MadVR although everything has been fine up until that recent LAV build.

Nev,

Could you add support for decoding Huffyuv MT to Lav ?

Codec id :"HYMT"
info : http://home.h01.itscom.net/para/intro/huffyuv-mt/
package (based on VfW) + source : http://www29.atwiki.jp/lossless/pages/11.html ("huffyuv_mt_712.zip" is the one you need)
Direct Link to source + VfW binary : http://www29.atwiki.jp/lossless/?plugin=ref&serial=9

The big deal is that this VfW codec supports MT encoding + decoding, while it also can decode the normal huffyuv (Codec: "HYUV").

AFAIK, it's not supported (yet) by FFmpeg or Libav.
I got :
Could not find codec parameters (Video: none (HYMT / 0x544D5948), 1920x1080, 1/10)

3D (h264-MVC) is supported in SandyBridge via DXVA2 and has Media SDK support in IvyBridge. There's a code sample within the Media SDK 2012 on how to do this (IvyBridge). I'm not sure if future SNB drivers will support MVC via the Media SDK.

Egur,
do you have plans to add this to your QuickSync decoder soon?
Last week I bought a 3D projector and I have to say that the commercial players are veeeeery inconvenient and I'm craving for the simplicity/automation of Zoom Player / MPC-HC

@Nev
I think i found out what caused the black screens with DXVA and certain Decoder i though have no idea yet why ffdshow triggers this in MPC-HC if set in a certain Prefer order but im sure it is the cause and it's not because uncompressed rendering is active and it takes over it thats disabled but anyways its causing a black screen if i block it instead of prefer it's ok though it doesn't show up in the graph @ all that's the very strange thing about it it seems the graph build up normally but with ffdshow preferred in the order the Decoder even loaded before (in this case Cyberlinks VC-1 DXVA) fails with a black screen.

The most funny thing about it in the order Cyberlinks Decoder is even above ffdshow (preferred before ffdshow is preferred) but anyways ffdshow causes this black screen result if i block it no black screen anymore though the used Chain remains the same for both (prefer/block), though the splitter is bellow both as preferred.

Nev,
I just tried to open a .SIFF file with LAV Splitter (both using it as Source or only as a splitter after File Source (Async.)) and it didn't work.
At the same time it works just fine (almost) with MPC MPEG Splitter. It outputs the Video - AVC, Audio - DTS-HD MA and Subtitle streams. I don't see the MVC stream that is supposed to be the right eye video but I guess it's simply because MPC doesn't know what MVC is.

Do you have plans to support .SIFF files in the near future?

Edit:
Haali's splitter works and it has three output pins - Video, Stereo and Audio ... I guess it does recognize the MVC stream

What good would that do without a 3D capable splitter and without a 3D capable video renderer? It's kinda hard for a decoder programmer to develop a solution if there's no splitter which delivers the needed 3D data, and without a renderer which would accept the decoder 3D output.

madshi,
I do understand your point but at the same time what good would be to have a renderer without a decoder? How do you plan to work on it without having the data?
I was trying to find a starting point.
As you can see in my previous post Haali's splitter does deliver the needed 3D data (or it looks like it does) and I was thinking that for developing a decoder the multiple input pins of VMR9 would be enough.
Also there is a 3dtv.at Stereo Renderer which comes with Stereoscopic Player which I suppose could even work in 3D ... but I wasn't able to test this yet (just saw it in Graph Studio)

Sounds like a Chicken and Egg Problem. :)

Adding splitter support is probably not all that hard, however it would be easier if CoreCodec would finally make CoreMVC available so that the splitter could be designed to match its requirements instead of just producing a new "standard" way of doing things.

The renderer is the real problem, although the decoder could just SBS the two frames for testing.

I was thinking that for developing a decoder the multiple input pins of VMR9 would be enough.
That does not work like you think it does. It accepts multiple streams, but they are meant to go ontop of each other, one main stream, and other "subtitle" streams. It does not, and probably never will, support 3D.

I don't really need a 3D splitter/decoder for madVR development (although it wouldn't harm, of course). Simulating 3D input is easy enough.

Do you know how 3D is meant to be transferred from decoder to renderer? Is there some kind of "official" way to do it yet?

I don't think there's any official way yet. Of course you could just connect two pins, but then the renderer wouldn't know whether to put the images on top of each other, or whether it's supposed to be 3D.

You can add LAV splitter and decoder there.

I don't have a 3D display, so I can't say if it actually works.

How about the new MadLAV (or is the LAVMad) Industry Std. You too could just agree how it would work for now :) between your splitters, decoders and renderer.

nev,
when I mentioned VMR9 I meant it only for testing. I know it will show the images one over the other.

nev, madshi,
this night while I was playing around with Stereoscopic Player I noticed that they are using the CoreAVC/MVC decoder and it outputs two streams to the renderer ... or at least that's how I read the information in the Video Porperties (Ctrl + V) window (the Filters tab). There I also see that they are using these two streams as input to a filter called "3dtv.at Stereo Transformation" and from it as a single output to the "3dtv.at Stereo Renderer". It also uses a modified version of MPC's MPEG Surce filter.
I know this is not a lot of information ... if any at all ... but I thought it could lead to some conclusions.

Guys,
I apologize for all this 3D talk - it's not that relevant still ... I hope soon it will be ... but I watched some 3D these days on a very bright projector and I must say I'm hooked. This is a great experience. No local cinema can come close to it. I'm so excited
:)

I apologize for all this 3D talk ....

I too would be excited by the inclusion of 3D support as I have had to re-install TMT just for the odd 3d BD on the HTPC. Much rather have my fac setup of MC17/LAV/Mad work for all the media.

Okay ... I've been planning to install and use these new LAV filters to finally get TrueHD and DTS-HD bitstreaming.
Do I need to purchase and install Arcsoft TMT to get HD audio bitstreaming? It seems most people have that installed and I was wondering if that's a prerequisite to get HD audio.

SamuriHL

Not for bitstreaming, no. If you want full HD DTS-HD MA decoding then you need the DTS decoder from TMT.

Thanks SamuriHL. Didn't feel like spending the $99 just to get bitstreaming capability. I've tried setting up the LAV filters through Shark007's program. No luck getting HD bitstreaming working yet.

I have an Nvidia GT520 and Win7 (64-bit), so I know it's possible. I'm running HDMI from my video card to a Denon AVR-4310CI which can definitely handle TrueHD/DTS-HD. However, when I look in my Windows "Sound" settings and check the "Supported Formats" for my Denon receiver I only see: DTS Audio, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby Digital. I'm guessing I need to figure out why this doesn't display TrueHD and DTS-HD before I even begin messing with LAV.

Anyone have any ideas?

I've also seen people mention installing a RealTek driver. Seems odd that I would need to install a RealTek driver to get HD Audio from my Nvidia card (unless Nvidia use a RealTek chip on their card).

SamuriHL

No, that's only for AMD cards. Won't help you here.

jmos1277

For anyone that is curious, I managed to get the HD audio working finally. Apparently my the HD audio on my NVidia card was running some Microsoft driver (don't know why). The Microsoft driver prevented my GT520 from being able to output HD audio. I installed the latest NVidia drivers (released last week) and that fixed the HD audio driver on my system. The "supported format" tab in my sound setting now shows all of the HD audio formats.

With the proper audio driver installed, I installed the LAV filters and ... awesomeness began to emanate from my AVR. Very nicely done nev.

Now I just need to get my forced subs working properly and all will be perfect.

jmos1277
24th March 2012, 06:43
Well I spent some time trying to get the forced subs to work the way I want them to, but with no luck.
All of my videos are MKV files (one track for standard subtitles, a second track for forced subs). I wanted to use the LAV Splitter, the LAV Audio and the LAV Video decoders. I really like the LAV video decoder because it utilizes the video card for decoding. Anyway, I couldn't seem to get forced subs to display properly when using the configuration in Windows Media Center. Forced subs seemed to work great in the GraphStudio player, but when I tried watching the same video in Windows Media Center there were no subs. Not sure how to deal with this.

For now, I chose to use the standard Microsoft decoder for H.264 in combination with directvobsub. This seems to work, but doesn't take advantage of my video card.

luke823
24th March 2012, 18:52
I was able to solve this by using the advanced option within lav filters.

Do you guys think this is a good practice? It means ripping entire subtitle tracks and then using lav to specify forced only. This is as opposed to the forced only option within makemkv.

Any thoughts? I'd like to know what people are doing.

Hi, couldn't find this specific questions asked before, apologies if I missed it:

I have ripped BDs in MKV. I tend to keep all English audio and PGS subtitle streams in the rip. I would like to set up LAV splitter such that the following happens:

1) If English audio then use default English subtitles but pass only those with forced flag

2) If non-English audio then pass full English subtitle track.

As far as I can see, the advanced selection mode allows you to automatically select a forced track but not to use the default track and pass only titles within it that have the forced flag?

Selecting the forced flag titles option in the "Blu-ray subtitles" section works perfectly for (e.g.) District 9. Presumably though with this setting enabled a foreign language film will get no English subtitles as these aren't usually marked with a forced flag?

Currently am having to extract forced titles as separate track in MakeMKV and then edit the header to mark the track as forced.

Any ideas if the advanced selection mode can be used to achieve the above?

Thanks

No problem with LAV-0.49-b46fb1c(sw/cuvid/native/cb) on my new GT520(296.10whql).

PS: MPC-HC DXVA and ffdshow DXVA failed on deinterlacing.

Never try 2160p on an AMD/ATI card!

Does LAV Video support decoding of DVDs atm?

Technically it does, but i turned it off because it doesn't support menus/subtitles, and playback just freezes if those are not handled by the decoder.

Its on the list to do in the future.
