FFCoder has a pause button which when pressed pauses the encode. I had a look and it seems to use a CLI version of x264 just as MeGUI does.
So I tried a little googlisation of "x264 pause encoding", which led me to a 5 year old doom9 thread which then led me to create my first ever command line script (copying the command line MeGUI added to the log file for the same encode) which allowed me to stop and start (ie pause) encoding simply by using Shift+S while the command prompt window was open.

I'd settle for that.
My main usage for it would be to pause one encode while running another (even if it's using a different GUI). Sometimes I've got an encode running which is hours away from finishing and I just want to pause it so I can run a quick test encode. That sort of thing.
Or then there's those 40+ degree days when I'd like to stop encoding for an hour or so just to give the air conditioner a chance to catch up. :)

Edit: A quick FFCoder test indicates it's state of pausedness won't survive a restart of the GUI, so obviously it wouldn't survive a reboot, but it's still got a button with "Pause" written on it. ;)

I did think maybe I could open Task Manager and tell the x264 process to shut up for a bit, but when running XP at least, it seems limited to killing a process completely. Maybe newer versions of Windows might have the option, or a 3rd party Task Manager.....

For some reason, when I pick HD Stream Extractor, it only shows the video. Then, when I pick the audio, and choose flac, and all the subtitles manually, when I queue it up and hit start, it gets stuck at 1% forever.

I did a fresh install and setup from scratch, thinking that an update borked it along the way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Version 2477 Dev

I know it's only a little thing but....

I think it'd be a very good idea if right clicking on a job in the queue and selecting "abort" would only abort the selected job(s). All the other options under the right click menu only effect the selected job(s), which makes it very easy to get used to, leading to the possibility of right clicking on a job, selecting "abort" and aborting more than you bargained for. Such as an encode which had been running for nearly five hours. Yes there's a prompt.... but it's easy to assume it's a "do you want to about this job" prompt, and click on okay before your brain catches up to your fingers.... well at least my brain and my fingers. It's a little "consistency" thing.

IMO I think the Abort button at the bottom of the Queue tab should also only abort the selected job(s). Start usually doesn't start all jobs, Edit, Up, Down and Delete only effect the selected jobs......
And when the Pause button and pause right click option are added, they probably should only effect the selected job(s) too. :)

I've unistalled Haali Media Splitter and ffdshow becouse i've installed CCCP, which has them inside. MeGUI gives me this warning.
It works anyway or could i have some problem in future?

MeGUI does not detect Haali from CCCP. It will continue to work until some job requires Haali. AFAIK, ffms needs Haali for some containers (m2ts?), HD Stream Extractor sometime needs Haali and you can not use Dss2().

Zathor...I figured out my oversight of clicking making English the default language. After that, the English audio and subtitles came back by default.

However, I still can't get it past 1% when extracting.

I've been using this for years, and I can't figure it out. It happened after an update, but I'm not sure which one, so I did a fresh install. Everything appears to be working fine, but it's not doing anything at all.

Command Line directly? Not sure how to do that.

Can you add subtitle support to AVS Cutter?

I also use this tool and find it very useful.
It would be great to have it in MeGUI.
The subtitle must be UTF-8 before cutting, otherwise it messes up diacritic characters, but other than that, it works fine.

Usually i use subtitle edit to rip and convert subs to SRT becouse it's smaller and simpler. Vobsubber in MeGUI doesn't work with multiple subtitles

Avisynth+ (MeGUI portable version) and LSMASHSource.dll loads.
Avisynth 2.6 and LSMASHSource.dll won't load.

I copied msvcr120.dll from the MeGUI\tools\lsmash folder to the Windows\System32 folder and now LSMASHSource.dll loads for Avisynth 2.6.

Oddly.... I was sure I'd used LSMASH successfully with Avisynth 2.5.8 in the past, but maybe not..... (Edit: I checked and it didn't work without msvcr120.dll in the system32 directory either)

You can use Codec Tweak Tool, open "Preferrred splitters " and select Haali in .MKV and ready!! Megui will detect haali.

But this is not "installing the redistributable".

And if you copy this file to the wrong system directory on a 64 bit machine (system32 vs. SysWOW64), you get a mess.

I have found the following bug in MeGui 2418 and also in the newest Beta in connection with the Audio Encoding:

When I use Aften (or FFmpeg) for slow-down a 5.1 AC3 from 25 to 23.976 fps, the audio track has (sometimes more, sometimes less) fluctuates and echoing after encoding.
With AC3 2.0, the error does not come.

I tried to reproduce the problem with another tool (BeHappy) and have found out the following:

When I choose the function „Time Stretch (with pitch correction)”, the result is the same as with MeGUI.

But when I select the “Resample SSRC – SlowDown” function, I get a really good result.

I am not an expert, but because of this, I think there is a bug in the “Time Stretch” function and the slow-down should be made better with the “SSRC Resample” function.

I am not a native English speaker and I hope that was understandable.

Behappy “Resample SSRC – SlowDown” function is:

When you use MeGUI, if you see the log, we have:
SSRC((AudioRate()*1001+480)/960).AssumeSampleRate(AudioRate())
TimeStretch(pitch=Float((AudioRate()*1001+480)/960)*100.0/Float(AudioRate()))

Then:
1) MeGUI use the SSRC method like BeHappy, but try to correct the pitch, modified with SSRC, using TimeStretch after.

2) The TimeStretch(pitch) function is wrong called, must be:
TimeStretch(pitch=Float(100100/960))
Because AudioRate() is cancelled, and the term (+480) is used to round values in SSRC with integer parameter, but is a error in float calculations.

3) I don't know for what two functions are used, is enough:
TimeStretch(tempo=Float(96000/1001))
if we want pitch correction.

Is know than preserve the pitch is problematic with 5.1 audio because the function can preserve the phase between 2 channels only and not between 6 channels. And this is a problem using TimeStretch(pitch) or TimeStretch(tempo).

Those options would speed up/slow down the audio (and video) way too much. You can get away with 24fps to 25fps because it's not as large a speed increase/decrease (it's still a 4% difference though). Conversions from 23.976fps to 29.970fps are usually done (for the video) using pulldown (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecine), so the speed/duration of the audio remains the same. Likewise removing pulldown to go from 29.970fps to 23.976fps doesn't change the duration. If the video is 29.970fps progressive, then you're basically stuck with it.

Could you add the Bass audio plugins in to ..\tools\avisynth_plugin please. This will allow MeGUI to support audio conversion of the lesser main stream formats (actually you can't even use BassAudio for FLAC in it's current state).

More than a channels selection I think must be a user selection.

Preserve the original pitch (TimeStretch(tempo)) can be desirable even with some phase problems with more than 2 channels.

And change the pitch can be desirable even for 1/2 channels.
For instance with audio tracks from PAL DVD's, here the "change" can be a "restore" original pitch.

Add the round term to support generic SampleRate (no problem with standard 48 KHz)

I muxed a bunch of stuff that was laying around today.
I user the MKV muxer on megui with "close after" disabled so I could queue several vids.
Here's the problem: If I have one video with a chapters file and/or subs, but the next one with only one of non, those fields keep the last used files (subs, chapters) and there's no way to remove them as far as I can see.
Only option is to I close the muxer and start it again.

Hmm, I never tried right click on subs. Just tried it now, and it doesn't appear to remove the subs loaded from previous queued item, unless I'm doing something wrong.

If I right click on "subtitle 1" and choose "remove track" it closes the 2nd tab that opens automatically when you load the first sub. But the first one still gets muxed.


I thought the X under file selection might remove it, but it doesn't appear to do anything that I can see. It does remove the video file on the top field when pressed, but not on audio/subs.

This is on the long list of things which can/must be changed. The handling is different compared to the OneClick tool.

Remove Track is greyed out the 2nd time I right-click on the Subtitle 1.

No matter what BD I try to use HDStreamsExtractor, where it used to be an easy go, is now getting stuck at 1% and basically freezing.

Harry Potter 3 is in VC-1 format, and I can't extract it using MKV, I have to leave it as VC-1. And, while it extracts, I can not find a way to then transcode down to my desired size.

Any thing would be helpful.

I recently read a post about issues with AMD AHCI/RAID ATA drivers causing high bitrate copies to freeze, while MS ATA drivers did not. Possibly related to block sizes. Not sure if this is related. But reasons can be surprising...

In contrast to cropping, one may as well want to "AddBorders" to fill videos to a supported dimension. That was required to e.g. make Blu-ray compatible videos out of some Blender movies distrubuted as Cinemascope A.R. PNGs. Maybe it is possible to extend the "Crop" part to "Crop / Add Borders / Letterbox".

when I use commandline the result is different.
