Thanks Zathor. Take your time. :)
#2 is directly related to that. If I set DAR in the preview window manually I can avoid this problem.
Never realized that these parameters were added to the commandline for non anamorphic encodes. Has this recently been added to compensate for small errors of the mod16 resize? Or was I just blind all the time? :o
Some other thing: is it possible that Megui saves any changes made to its profiles immediately and not when exiting the program?
If you edit profiles and Megui crashes for any reason during your work, you lose all changes made since the last startup.

Hi guys.
Firstly, I want to say that I am very happy that Bitrate Calculator tool is now more usefull from the past - Now it's enough to enter the desired custom filesizes and it remember the values entered:)
Btw, I don't know when it started exactly, but after last changes, meGUI don't save the quantitization type matrices entered on the XviD and x264 profiles (like eqm_v3hr.xcm & prestige.cfg).
Is it bug or is it planned?
Thanx in advance....

Same here. See #1 of my post above. And I guess this is a bug in the profile editor.

@LeXXuz/doc_dvxm: Thanks for your reports. Please report back if the problems are solved.

That is also true for the log files and parts of the jobs. I agree that this is annoying and should be changed. Nevertheless that’s the way it is designed now and it would require some more work to change it. In my opinion this time is better spend in other parts of MeGUI.
I'm unsure if there is already a feature request for these things. If not please create a feature request.

Wow that was fast. Thanks Zahtor for that quick fix. :)
I'll give it a try asap and report back.
As for saving the profiles I had a feeling that this will be quite some work to change this. It is quite annoying, but I agree that there are more important things to do. Maybe there is time for this in the future.
EDIT:
Excellent. Custom matrices stay in the profiles and the AR problems are gone, too. Thank you! :)

While re-encoding a video with 6 channel audio, I could not downmix the audio to stereo with both FAAC and Nero AAC.
I tried with both the latest development build and latest stable build, the same problem occurs.
In the end I could only successfully downmix to stereo audio with RipBot.
Please advise on where the problem may lie.:thanks:

please post you request in the feature request tracker in the megui project page on sourceforge.
Done (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3073085&group_id=156112&atid=798479).
If anyone has any time for anything aside from bug squashing and can look into this, I'm sure the community would be happy. If you need a MCTD script please just use:
MCTemporalDenoise (settings = "medium")
If the devs get more anxious we can grow from there.
Thanks for all the hard work on MeGUI. The work of (all) the developers is greatly appreciated by the community. You have made one of the best (no rule 13 strike please!) GUI's to date.
And again, please set up a donation function on SF. Over the years there have been many times when I have had exra money and would have loved to give back.

It would seems that the audio was only down-mixed to 5 channel.
The downmix function isn't activated when audio have less than 6 channels:
6<=Audiochannels(last)?x_stereo...:last
Then, or MediaInfo report is wrong or AviSource only output 5 channels.
If the problem is only with this avi file try extract the ac3 file ( AVIMuxGUI, VirtualDubMod, ...) and use the ac3 like audio input file for MeGUI (now the decoder must be NicAC3Source).
If you get 5 channels another time (then MediaInfo report is wrong) use like audio input file for MeGUI an .avs like this (replace path's and name):
LoadPlugin("c:\megui_path...\tools\avisynth_plugin\NicAudio.dll")
NicAc3Source("C:\path\name.ac3", 2)
Normalize()

Extracted the ac3 audio and the re-encoded output is fine.
I would like to know if it's possible to extract the audio stream with MeGUI.
Also, is it feasible to make the extraction of audio stream part of the standard steps to go through when one open a file in MeGUI?
Currently, when you open a media file with MeGUI it will go through these events.
1. Indexing
2. AVS Script Creating
3. MeGUI place AVS Script into input
4. User selects audio input (in most case, user will select video file)
5. User uses Auto Encode
Will it be feasible to change it to this.

5. If user selects a video file as a audio input, MeGUI will extract the audio stream and place the extracted audio file into the audio input.
6. User uses Auto Encode
7. MeGUI completes encode
8. MeGUI permanently deletes AVS and extracted audio file from system.
Or follow what RipBot264 does.

cabac is disabled if fast decode tuning or baseline profile are selected.
I can't UNcheck it (as in, enable the --no-cabac option).
The checkbox is not grayed or anything, just when I click it, the check doesn't disappear.
EDIT:
0.3.5.13 broke it, 0.3.5.12 works OK.

Don't know if this is the right place to be posting this, but FWIW, commenting the lines 1713 and 1733 in x264ConfigurationPanel.cs fixed the issue.

long post short answer. audio cant be automatically selected for input coz source file could have more than one audio track and megui cant know which one to select for encoding. about the video selected for audio... well... i will refrain to write what im thinking or i could offend someone... however i'll add some restrictions to supported audio formats in the audio input dialog.

When I open a .rmvb with MeGUI, it automatically uses the .rmvb as the audio input. It works but from the way you're saying I guess it isn't the correct way.:o
As such will it be possible to extract audio stream using tools provided in MeGUI?

Bug Report:
When I muxed my finished .mp4 with .ac3 audio, the mp4 muxer doubled the amount of video in the final output. Essentially, it was the same episode but 2 times in the same container. The original .mp4 file and .ac3 file are fine and correct on their own, but when joined it created this problem.

however, try with YAMB (use the mp4box binary that is in your megui\tools\mp4box folder) and see if you get the same "doubled" result.

@Sharktooth -- with the Yamb (2.1.0.0 beta 2 release) with the latest mp4box (distributed with MeGUI update) does not "double" the video time when avc + m4a (aac) + ac3 muxed. MeGui muxes the MP4 just fine with m4a (aac), but with ac3, the video portion is "doubled."
@Kurtnoise -- I have yet to try out you builds of MP4box from your website.
EDIT -- When muxed in MeGui with Kurtnoise's MP4Box build (32-bit), no "doubling" of the video. :) Hope this helps.

Just tried that as well and it still doesn't work. I even uninstalled MeGUI and re-installed.
Muxer >> Mp4 Muxer >> Video Source is test1.mp4 >> audio source is mono.ac3 >> queue >> Start >> messed up end result.

Hey Sharktooth, I gone through some MeGUI youtube tutorials and realized I didn't get the desired result cause I ain't doing it right.
I changed the AVS Script from using AVISource to DirectShowSource and set the audio to true.
Then I used the AVS Script as both the video and audio input and got my desired output.:D

I have a little bit experience with automation ;) , on a German system the user likely wants the German track, if there are multiple audio streams in a container without language info, you can use the original stream order.

I've been using MeGUI to convert a few MKV files lately, usually containing x264 and AC3. If I try to convert one which was muxed using MKVToolnix, DGIndex usually locks up and FFMSIndex either does the same stops with an error. Most non-MKVToolnix muxed MKVs are fine. Anyone else come across this themselves?
Edit. When I say "convert" I meant re-encode. Usually to fix cropping issues or to make a standard definition copy.

How the stream order can give you the stream # that the user wants to extract ?

Most important tracks are likely on top so you would just use the first one but it's a rare scenario since for DVD and Blu-ray there is language info, MKV usually too and DVB has usually just one track.
Kurtnoise

Maybe not the most natural scenario. ;)
I've not yet found a way to read the users mind nor did I add any option to handle such unusual task so the user has to perform this manually.

27th September 2010, 14:53
Create a popup window when you detect more than one audio tracks in your input (can be done easily w/ MediaInfo).
Put this as textbox : "Your <inputfilename> contains more than one audio streams. Which one would like to encode ?"
Add a combox for all audio tracks with [#xx - Language - Audio Format - Channels Nb ] as template.
where #xx is the stream number. This implies to use FFMS iirc...And almost users will be happy.

I noticed this problem only with video with resolution 848x480, 480x270 video such as multiplexed correctly (It certainly does not mean that the problem only with 848x480 video, I just noticed it with the source).
By the way, the problem with multiplexed appeared after updating mp4box before that my version.
P / s: I'm using mp4box x86.
P / ss: Sorry, my English - Translation of Google.

Is there any chance of getting FLAC added to the supported audio files list for the Adaptive Muxer when using mkv?

The problem is this: the process of multiplexing stops at 99% and beyond is an endless nothing doing. Therefore it is necessary to click on the abolition of the multiplex, to complete the process, which is reflected in the log:

Cannot reproduce here with my own build...which x264 command line did you use to create your video stream ?
Anyway, I'll upload a new mp4box build tonight.
