To avoid confusion in the future I have changed the title of this topic to "bug reports and feature requests".

The correct place for bug reports and feature request is the Project page, but if you want to discuss them first you can do it here. However remember: without opening a bug report or feature request at the project page it is likely that we forgot about it. After all we are humans, aren't we?

Thats a great update, really giving MeGui some more power.

Especially sweet as
- (zathor) [FileIndexer] changed supported file type detection
File Indexer now copes with so much including FLV by default very cool.

@WorBry: sorry for the delay. i've added you suggested values in Force SAR dropdown. They will be there in the next build.

No problem :) It was just a suggestion for folks who want custom SAR values. The 'standard' preset values meet my needs.

I see you've added 8:9 and 32:27 sar values in 0.3.5.9. Actually it was Lyle_JP who requested this:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1419923#post1419923

I was under the impression that you were intending to add a text box for entering custom SAR values. Like I said, no big deal for me, and it's easy enough to edit the SAR in the command line anyway.

Sharktooth
10th September 2010, 02:51
yes, sorry. i confused the posts.
however adding a box is really useless coz if you want to specify a custom SAR you can enter it in the custom commandline options.

Could an Ipad preset be included in the next presets update?
I find it is very convenient to just select a preset, knowing someone with much more experience and knowledge has developed it and included the proper parameters.

0.3.5.10
- (sharktooth) [x264] Added 64:45 SAR option
- (sharktooth) [MainForm.cs] Typo
- (zathor) [Settings] added option for DGIndex(NV) to autoload VOB files
incrementally. Default value is enabled. Feature request #2955909
- (zathor) [Settings] added option to close MeGUI after encoding.
Default value is still "Do nothing". Feature request #2954099
- (zathor) [Settings] added option start the queue at program start.
Default value is disabled. Feature request #1908749
- (zathor) [JobUtil] display overwrite confirmation dialog for the output file
during initial job creation if it is necessary. Feature request #3022005
- (zathor) [OneClickEncoder] added support for DGIndexNV and DGAVCIndex

Especially the last one is maybe introducing new problems. Please test the OneClick encoder not only with the new files (e.g. mkv if DGIndexNV is available) but also the old functions.

I'd like to make a request for some extra items to be added into the mkv muxing window, maybe to allow us to add covert art and stuff added?

It shouldn't be to tricky to add considering you guys look like you've got most of the stuff there already :)

Maybe I'm doing something wrong (I don't think so though) but the Force SAR option isn't working correctly for me. I'm trying to use it to encode some DVDs and setting the box to 10:11 is causing some odd anomalies. --sar 10:11 will show up in the command line on the Config menu, but once the encode starts:

Job commandline: "C:\Program Files (x86)\MeGUI\tools\x264\vfw4x264.exe" --level 4.1 --crf 18 --deblock -3:-3 --bframes 16 --b-adapt 2 --ref 5 --no-mbtree --cqm "jvt" --merange 24 --me tesa --direct auto --subme 10 --partitions all --trellis 2 --no-dct-decimate --no-fast-pskip --psnr --ssim --sar 10:11 --sar 48600:52129 --output "D:\Video\TV\Yu-Gi-Oh!\YUUGIOU_1\01\01.mkv" "D:\Video\TV\Yu-Gi-Oh!\YUUGIOU_1\01\01.avs"

So the video gets encoded with that funky sar value instead of 10:11. In the three proceeding encodes, it read "--sar 10:11 --sar 1:1". Obviously I've gotten around this by just using the custom command line, but it's sort of a weird error.

Hi Zathor,

I had an email:

I have another question. I know MeGUI isnt your app. But I have a problem with MeGUI and DGDecNV 2024 and 2026. When trying to make an avs-script with megui, it gives me error that its unable to load DGMultiDecodeNV.dll . I understand perfectly why it says that, since DGMultiDecodeNV.dll is now called DGDecodeNV.dll. But is there any way to fix this?

I suggested that he can just rename the DLL.

Is this something that needs attention in MeGUI?

Thank you.

Zathor

I assume that he is using the stable build of MeGUI (0.3.5.0) and this build does not support the newer changes within DgIndexNV as it is still using 2013.

As a workaround he should switch to the development update server or wait a little bit for the next stable build.

Any thoughts on updating the denoisers in MeGUI? I think that most people these days have processors fast enough to accomplish in 1/2 the time with MCTemporalDenoise what used to be done with the MeGUI selection of denoisers. Just a simple MCTemporalDenoise (settings="medium") would probably be fine. The script seems to be fairly robust as many people use it all the time and as far as I know it's x64 compatible also. What about also adding some sharpening? MCTD has some of these features but something like LSFMod could quite easily be introduced. Maybe just toss a (SLOW) comment in there after the option.

i started working on the commandline generation to fix the bugs when using the preset and/or tunings options...
it may require a while but it's needed...
i realized we cant tag the next build as stable without those fixes. plus some tools need to be updated since they're causing problems (mediainfo, mp4box) so... i decided to proceed with that huge seek & fix work.

There is something weird with the new queue system.
In the past, jobs are proceed by job number.(job1 then 2 and so on)
While using the latest 0.3.5.12, i got job 2 and job 5 proceeding at the same time.
Both of them are video encoding.

I understand that it's best to make a tracker at sourceforge for bugs for the development team to keep track of it, however I would like to clarify if it's really a bug or some sort of new feature.

Some details :
job 1 - 6 in queue
job 1 & 4 - audio encoding
job 2 & 5 - video encoding
job 3 & 6 - muxing

After I hit the start button, job 1 starts and finish the encode as per normal.
Here's where the problems starts.
Next, job 2 and job 4 starts at the same time.
Job 4 completes first and job 5 starts.
job 2 and job 5 are running together at the same time.

I didn't carry on the job to see what happens next but I would assume that most probably I would see job 5 and job 3 running at the same time or job 3 and 6 running at the same time.

I assume you have more than one worker. Can you please check in Wokers\Worker Summary if there is more than one worker?

A finished audio jobs starts other workers if there is some work to do. This has been the workaround for a workaround (somewhere deep in the 0.3.4.x). If more than one audio job is processed at the same time one output file is (very likely) bad. Therefore a worker skips an audio job if there is another one already encoding. To avoid non processed files (which may lead to a complete stopping of the queue processing if there are dependencies) the finished job will start again all other workers.

Could of course be nicer but it is no bug - it's a feature :) If you want it changed then please post in the feature request tracker and describe in which way you want to have it changed.

Thought about it, the behavior is confusing so I have changed it. The worker will be postponed if another audio job is running and it will be resumed as soon as the other worker finishes the audio job. The status will be shown in the worker summary.

Just checked the worker summary, turns out there was around 4 workers that was created when I was messing with it the last time.
After shutting down all the workers, I got it to work the usual way.

Sorry for the false alarm, I am not familiar in the usage of workers and the way they work.:o

Update : My muxing job is stucked at 99%, there may be something wrong with mp4box...
Update 2 : Confirmed that problems lies with mp4box, mux works perfectly fine with Kurtnoise 2010.04.10 while it gets stuck at 99% with 2010.09.10.

for those using the dev build (0.3.5.12) that want to test the fixes you can download THIS (removed, see edit) test build and extract it into the megui installation folder.
please report any bug you find in commandline generation with tunings or AVC profiles (presets other than medium still produce unoptimal or in some cases wrong commandline).

My company recently installed a new web filter / safety program called ZScaler. It's a filter (like Websense) but it works by saving a cookie with the information needed to connect for every program that connects to the Internet. This means that programs that don't allow cookies, or that don't allow the option to connect by means of IE in the background or using IE cookies are not able to get to the Internet. So, at least from my companies computer, MeGUI can't update.

We are looking for workarounds for this problem, but I just wanted to mention it to see if you had any ideas. Regardless, one way I could get around this is if you simply post a full MeGUI with all tools included everytime you do a stable build. I know you have been talking about that as something you wanted to do - so, just letting you know it would be of interest here. Thanks for all your hard work keeping this tool going.

HD Stream Extractor uses eac3to to extract streams.
So ask in the eac3to thread (by linking your previous post - read, do not crosspost as per forum rules).

edit: however, you can use MKVExtract to extract tracks from a .mkv file. it is located in the tools\mkvmerge folder

I could use some help and advice. I have some issues with xvid presets, sar for xvid/x264 and avs script editor. Did an update from .10 to .13 lately and I'm pretty sure that everything worked fine before. Also updated DGIndexNV from 1024 to 1026 (see #3).

1)
XVID presets editor loses custom matrix settings. I can chose a custom matrix, update the profile and enqueue that job (with the custom matrix used in the command line). However, if I load another source file and press the config button for that preset, custom matrix is gone and replaced by standard H.263 matrix.

2)
Problem with aspect ratio. Command lines have aspect ratio settings, I can see that in the log files for the xvid/x264 jobs. There are no custom -par settings in my profile and I don't use anamorphic encodes, so there are no Global x/y variables in my avs script.

example avs:
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\MeGUI x64\tools\avisynth_plugin\FluxSmooth_SSE41.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\MeGUI x64\tools\dgindexnv\DGDecodeNV.dll")
DGSource("E:\###.dgi",fieldop=0, resize_w=640, resize_h=272)
AssumeFPS(25)
#crop
#FluxsmoothST(7,7)
#resize
XVID preset settings:
http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/250/xvid.png
resulting XVID commandline:
[Information] Job commandline: "C:\Program Files\MeGUI x64\tools\xvid_encraw\xvid_encraw.exe" -i "E:\###.avs" -single -cq 2.5 -smoother 0 -max_key_interval 250 -quality 4 -vhqmode 2 -qmatrix "C:\Program Files\MeGUI x64\extra\eqm_v3ulr_rev3.xcm" -lumimasking -imin 1 -pmin 1 -bvhq -bquant_ratio 162 -bquant_offset 0 -bmin 1 -par 272:351 -threads 2 -avi "E:\###.avi" -vbvmax 4854000 -vbvsize 3145728 -vbvpeak 2359296

Same with x264 settings:
http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/7379/x264.png
resulting x264 commandline:
[Information] Job commandline: "C:\Program Files\MeGUI x64\tools\x264\x264_64.exe" --level 4.1 --tune film --crf 18.0 --bframes 5 --ref 10 --vbv-bufsize 30000 --vbv-maxrate 40000 --partitions all --trellis 2 --no-fast-pskip --sar 351:351 --output "E:\###.mp4" "E:\###.avs"

Also can't find anything about par/sar in the xml profile files.

Where do the -par / --sar x:y parameters come from

3) Problem with AVS script creator. Importing .dgi files (source for dgi is mkv with AVC), the aspect ratio setting is wrong. On the older versions, I think it was 3.5.10 and before,DAR always was x/y as it should since PAR of the source material is 1:1. Now it's set to either 16:9 PAL or 16:9 NTSC. This ofcourse confuses the auto resize function.

I remember discussing DAR information for dgi files in the DGindexNV thread, but this was about DVDs as source file. Back then Meguis script generator did not use the correct DAR (16:9 PAL or 4:3 PAL) for those dgi files but DAR of 1,25 (720/576). Maybe Donald changed something which now confuses MeGUI to use 16:9 PAL even for source files with 1:1 PAR (like the AVC file mentioned before).

See this picture. The source is a dgi file of a Matroska file with AVC video. It's an encode I made earlier this year. The source resolution is 1920x816. Megui wants to resize it to 1488x816 because of wrong DAR:
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/5662/avscreator.th.png (http://img3.imageshack.us/i/avscreator.png/)

EDIT:

Okay, just found out, it seems to be the preview window causing all that trouble. When I load an avs file as source, the DAR is set to 16:9 PAL in the preview window. I have to set it manually back to x/y and the -par is corrected to 1:1.

NEVER had to this before, so I never cared about the DAR settings in the preview window when loading a source file. :o

Is this intended to work that way and now I have to set the correct PAR myself for any file I load as source?

So ask in the eac3to thread (by linking your previous post - read, do not crosspost as per forum rules).

edit: however, you can use MKVExtract to extract tracks from a .mkv file. it is located in the tools\mkvmerge folder Similar response in eac3to thread to your response shrktooth.

I can also use the fileindexer tool but the only issue is that I would loose the chapters. Could file indexer have an option to enablle subs and chapters maybe? Maybe an option to remux in mkv to enable extraction in Megui. Request here https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=156112&atid=798479
