The fix is in the svn only. We need to wait for another fix and then a new build will be released. Revert to this http://megui.org/auto/megui-core_0_3_5_21.zip if you need the fix now.

MeGUI would use avisynth.dll directly to open avisynth scripts.

@Zathor. I notice in the latest build (3.5.26) that the log file no longer shows "final statistics, video BR desired, Video br obtained".

Edit : Forgot to mention that this is X264 Blu-ray 2 pass mode

Is this intentional ?

Thanks Zathor! Great work, as usual.

One question: "[x264] changed default value of --qpmin to 0 (requires x264 rev 1795+)"
However, update server remains x264 rev 1766. After update, --qpmin remains at "10".

Will it only default to "0" when using/reaches rev 1795+?

I had a suggestion for people like me who use megui a lot and hate having to redo the same process 100x times :).
I made a mock up so It would be easy to understand, here:

If this was already mentioned excuse my post then but direct me to the installer.

Selection of multiple source files is indeed a needed feature, i encode a lot of series and it's a hassle to add each avs file separately.

I suggest you add it to the feature request tracker: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=156112&atid=798479

The user profiles will not be updated. You have to reset the profile or change qpmin manually.

the avs is like the auto gen avs i havent applied any filters yet and only did a resize but it is still effected by the error without it and if i remove all the un-needed stuffs

LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\MeGUI\tools\dgavcindex\DGAVCDecode.dll")
AVCSource("F:\mm 06\MM 06.dga")
#deinterlace
#crop

Update:

upgraded to the developmet virsion but now it crashes out compleatly, but its smoother in the peview window.

The user profiles will not be updated. You have to reset the profile or change qpmin manually.

Thanks for latest build .28, which has x264 rev 1804.

What exactly does qpmin affect and what does changing from 10 to 0 accomplish?

Sharktooth
2nd December 2010, 04:20
it affects the ratecontrol decisions. basically it "unlocks" quants from 0 to 9 so the encoder can use them when ratecontrol "needs" them.
the immediate benefit is it will be much difficult to get undersized files. another benefit will be some frames with better quality when AQ is enabled AND quant 10 is not enough for some really flat areas (read as: less artifacts in flat areas and gradients).
btw the qpmin cap value (10) was arbitrary.

rapscallion
3rd December 2010, 16:50
Thanks for the explanation Sharktooth !

I changed the qpmin value, in the X264 Blu-Ray 2 pass preset, to "0" and
notice now that qpmin is no longer in the Megui config command line.

I assume this is normal?

Sharktooth
3rd December 2010, 18:54
yes coz 0 is the new default value.

- [Audio Downmix] enhanced avisynth script part II. Patch by tebasuna51

rapscallion
6th December 2010, 23:14
@zathor, after updating to the new profiles, preset Blu-ray 1080p24 720p24 when loaded, Megui comes up with a message something like "convert to yv12 is missing from the script, do you want me to add it?"

I click yes, but don't see it anywhere in the command line(s)??

Zathor
6th December 2010, 23:23
The only change in the profiles has been to replace qpmin 10 with qpmin 0. The profiles are not related to your warning. The missing line will be addedto your avisynth script if needed.

rapscallion
6th December 2010, 23:36
Thanks...interesting that I never got that message before.
I should have realized that the "script" meant avisynth, NOT command line.
And, sure enough, it gets added with any profile that I load.

BTW, source was mpeg video, m2ts from Pearl Harbor. This was the actual message :
The colorspace of your clip is not in YV12...
Do you want me to add ConvertToYV12() to the end of your script ?

So, apparently it's particular/peculiar to this movie. And, it's great that Megui detects that !!

When I try to manually create chapter, the first chapter can be created successfully from the preview window using the "Set Chapter" button without errors.

However, starting from the second chapter, an error pop-up appears.

The chapter is successfully created though and I don't see anything wrong with the time code.

Is this possibly a bug?
Or am I doing it wrong?:o
http://lulzimg.com/i0/410b342a.png
http://lulzimg.com/i0/2c3ee88a.png

Edit: So I figured out the problem was that one of the chapters must be selected if not I will get that error pop-up if I do anything.
It will be nice if MeGUI automatically select the last chapter if the user did not select any chapter.

In the event that I select a chapter out of 10 chapters, for example Chapter 05 before I click the add button in the Chapter Creator window. A new Chapter 05 is created with the same time code.

In the event that I click the Set Chapter button in the preview window with Chapter 05 selected of the 10 chapters in the list, a new Chapter 11 is created with the new time code. However the originally selected Chapter 05 is now Chapter 11 with the new time code as well.

Also if if I click the Clear button in the Chapter Creator window, then click Add or Set Chapter button, all the old chapters comes back.

Zathor
12th December 2010, 12:16
Another problem beside the message box is that if you select a chapter in the list and click then on "set chapter" this item will be replaced and a new item will be added. As a result you have two chapter items at the same position. If it's a bug or not does not matter - it does not work as intended as least as I think it should work. To be honest there are parts of MeGUI which I have never used before. The chapter creator is such a part.
Therefore I will remove the overwriting of an existing chapter item and hide the message box.
EDIT: Changed my mind because there are no up/down buttons in the list. If an item is selected then this item will be replaced and no second one will be added.

Would it be possible to add a default FFMS2/FFVideoSource input option to the AVS script creator? Right now it's either DSS or DSS2, and since FFMS2 is included in the tools already, it would make sense to have that as a third input filter.

I would have to agree that it does make sense to add in FFVideoSource.

However, while I was messing around and it turns out that if you didn't index the file with FFMSIndex before and you have a script similar to this
LoadPlugin("C:\MeGUI_0.3.5_x86_WithoutInstaller_OfflinePackage\tools\ffms\ffms2.dll")
FFVideoSource("randomVideoFile.extension")
#deinterlace
#crop
#resize
#denoise

and you hit the preview or the save button, the process of indexing/creating of the .ffindex file is done in the background.

During this period of time, MeGUI isn't responsive.
Maybe it's just my Core2Duo laptop.:p

The current work flow is that one would have to use the File Indexer to index the file with FFMSIndex.
After the indexing is completed, MeGUI would then automatically open AVS Creator with the script using FFVideoSource.

No offense but I believe there is a need for the developers to come up with some sort of workaround or an alternative work flow if FFVideoSource were to be implemented in AVS Creator to address to the issue of MeGUI becoming non-responsive while indexing the file in the background.

Cheers!:)

There seems to be some problem with both MKV Muxer and MP4 Muxer.

If I encode a 5m53s long video (23.976fps) with --pulldown 32 to a raw .264
and then mux the file with the M2TS Muxer everything is fine (5m53s, 29.970fps).

If I do the same but mux with MKV Muxer or MP4 Muxer the video ends up being 4m42s long (29.970fps).

It was hard for me to upload source video file - it's 4GB DVD rip. But when I was trying to extract a part of video file I realized that problem is connected to VTS_01_0.IFO file. If this file exists along with VOB files in one directory, MeGUI crash in the way I mentioned in previous post.
But if I remove this file from directory (so there are only VOB files) everything works!
I've attached mentioned VTS_01_0.IFO file, but this problem occured also with other DVDs.
