I had a dream......
In my dream the AVS cutter was integrated into the AVS Script Creator. It had been added to the script creator as an additional tab.

This may be related... #447 AVS creator Interlace analysis after AVS cutting (https://sourceforge.net/p/megui/feature-requests/447/)
But I was told by Zathor he is very probably not going to implement it.

Currently I launch AVS creator once to save just dummy AVS to provide raw source.
Than I run AVS cutter.
Than I run AVS creator again over cut Video as if it was original one.

I am not sure if do anything incorrectly ( using last stable MeGUI )..
I have 2 OneClick jobs in queue ( M2Vindexing1 + OneClick1 + M2Vindexing2 + OneClick2 )
It frequently ( always? ) happens they are processed simultaneously, what I do not want.
I did not play with different workers at all.
Are you sure you are not using several workers? Please check the workers summary. Also you can try the recent development build.

Are you sure you are not using several workers? Please check the workers summary. Also you can try the recent development build.

I have just made trial reencode of 2 already finished mp4 projects..
I used oneclick with checked And open next.

After queue start both projects started.
I have not set any explicit workers, and owner column in job overview was empty.

BUT - workers summary has shown both W1 and W2 are working.
Strange, from my point of view...

I will try latest development 2272.... It does the same.

When I have explicitly set for all 4 jobs Worker 1,
it started sequentially as expected.
But after indexing of the first project
it started Worker 2 as before...

Ouch, something got broken in the latest builds (2272).

I've lost all ability to mux my encodes into MP4's. Tried 2 movies so far, one of them muxes, no errors, but the video is size is way off. Video starts as 3.5GB and audio is 400MB, but result is only 2.4GB and won't play.

The second video won't even mux at all. I get this error.

I'm using the same settings I've always used. Switched over to YAMB and was able to mux them fine.


Also, has the bug with the temporary workers been fixed? I haven't seen a changelog that addressed the issue I've been having with them.

I have a hefty computer that I can't fully get to 100% cpu useage for certain jobs, so I tend to send a lot of jobs to temporary workers. Lately, if I send a group of jobs to a temporary worker, it was running the first job and then just stopping. Refused to continue to any more jobs until I deleted the worker. Before, I would usually have 2 or 3 seperate complete encodes going at once (audi,video,mux) So without the workers working right, it really cripples my productivity.

Thx for the report - that problem is new for me. I will try to reproduce and fix it. It may be related to some of the other worker changes.

Hm, this is strange.

At least it would be good if one could set default behavior, like disabling Worker 2, or disabling trigerring it implicitly....

It would make sense for 1 core audio encoding, but MeGUI seems refusing in my case more audio encoding jobs, at least with NeroAACenc.(possibly related to used audio AVS plugins )

If there are IO intensive jobs, like indexing,de/muxing or wav encoding, simultaneous jobs are rather obstacle each other. ( Analogically to 2 independent file copying tasks, what is bad idea as well, especially if file fragmentation is considered )

If there are CPU intensive jobs, like MT AVS together with MT X264 encoding, the resulting performance will be probably lower.

It is like if you would use for e.g. dual core 4-6 threads instead of 2-3 in AVS a/o X264, what is not recommended. It would make more sense in this case if single threaded AVS/X264 would be used, but it would loose sense if only one encoding left.

Combination of IO and CPU intesive tasks makes sense,
as well as the user wish to avoid parallel video encodings.
I may do not want to have 2 movies in 6 hours, but in 3 + 3 hours.

There could be also sideeffects, like FFT3DGPU encodings, I do not use it now, having failed G card now, but I remember I had such issues. Possibly other plugins not allowing/working properly in multitasking can have issues as well.

AFAIK If I use the "smaller automation" ( I forgot name, not having MeGUI handy), I thing there was not such workers issue. But as you say , you have changed it recently ( or just for OneClick ) ?

Use revision 4275 or higher from here (http://gpac.wp.mines-telecom.fr/downloads/gpac-nightly-builds/#Windows%2032%20bits)...That should be fixed your issue.

What is recommended procedure to add jobs to already running queue, without having them launched immediately ?

Not having MeGUI handy, but I think there is settings if to run queue immediately, but not if jobs can be added in stopped state.
And if there is, do they run when it is their turn ?

If you are sure than your Input DAR is 1,777, select them in the Input DAR box.

Even if I do not like it, I understand it is your intended default behavior. But why MeGUI ignores explicit setting ? It is the only chance for user to tell MeGUI he wants it by other way.

Edit: could it be that partial Oneclick jobs do not inherit worker ( they should ) settings from mother Oneclick Job ? ( cannot check now )

Sorry, you have written a little too much so I will describe how the workers should work from my point of view (simplified):
- An idle worker will process any waiting tasks which are not assigned to other workers. This will be triggered when a job is completed (also from other workers!) or new jobs are assigned but not when a worker is shut down or sent to stop after the current jobs.
- A temporary worker will process only the assigned jobs and will be deleted afterwards
- Stopped workers will not process any jobs until started again
- You can at any time disable / delete a worker (immediately or after the assigned jobs are finished)

Why do you need idle workers which are not processing any jobs? Why are you not deleting/disabling them? Why are you not using temporary workers?
EDIT: I am not asking why you need more than one worker - the reasons are clear.

I hadn't really considered de-interlacing issues as the video I was working with was purely interlaced, but as I was wanting to apply different filtering and cropping to each section of the video I tried quite a few different methods to get there. So far the easiest seems to be to tell MeGUI not to close the Script Creator window when I save the script, preview the first section of video and apply the relevant filtering/cropping etc, manually add Trim(), save the script as "part 1", delete Trim(), move onto the next section, adjust the filtering/cropping as necessary, add the second Trim(), save the script as "part 2", delete Trim(), move onto the next section..... finally I'd create a new script from scratch to import the individual scripts and encode them as a whole. I also tried adding multiple trims to the same script then applying different copping/filter to each and appending them together, but either way if the video is split into more than a few sections it's a slow process. I tried using AvsPmod instead but it didn't seem to make it any less painful. If there's an easier way to do it I'm definitely open to suggestions.

Actually any filename with a '.' in it will cause the MKV muxer to crash. Tools -> Muxer -> MKV muxer.

Enter an Mp4 video input with a '.' in the name into the video and audio fields and choose queue when it runs it will produce the xmlserialize error.

I removed the avi file. To work around the error i adjust the delay from the AC3 track with BeHappy, then remux in avi and then encode again with MeGui - OneClick to mp4

Here's a sample where indexing fails when the audio is included in the indexing. (7MB (https://www.yousendit.com/download/UW16S3dpTk1iR0lsYzlVag))

It seems like an ffms problem to me. When I opened the AVI from which that sample came with MPC-HC via a script like this:

Remux your avi into mkv and retry indexing...some informations in the mp3 header are missing for ffms.

The problem is the same with TSoft and hello-hello samples:
The audio stream don't begin with a valid audio header.

But seems have different origen:
- The hello-hello sample occurs always than cut a avi, the cut is at video frame boundary but at the middle of a audio frame.
A decoder must search, at least, along a frame size to found a valid header.

- The TSoft sample seems have a fake avi audio delay, along the first 3600 ms there are garbage in audio stream.
Here there are a question, how many bytes must a decoder search for a valid audio header?
With NicAc3Source I put a limit of 1 MB than allow 13 seconds delay for a 640 Kb/s AC3 or 21 seconds for 192 Kb/s AC3.

When the avi is muxed to mkv, MkvMerge detect and delete the initial garbage (I don't know if there are a limit) and put the equivalent delay in the mkv header info. Problem solved.

Another workaround is use AVIMux_GUI (supplied with MeGUI) to extract the avi audio and add the delay (detected by AVIMux_GUI) to the end mix.

Yeah, I've got into the habit of doing that. What about the AVI containing AC3 someone mentioned earlier. Same reason?

Given ffms and AVIs haven't played together nicely for as long as I can remember, could MeGUI get around it by using VirtualDubMod for demuxing AVI audio? StaxRip does it that way and I guess it's nice to have the audio stream demuxed anyway.

I forgot about AVIMux_GUI. I opened the AVI with it, it showed me the same 320 bytes of junk data MKVMergeGUI did, and after AVIMux_GUI resave the AVI as a new file ffmsindex was quite happy to play.

AVIMux_GUI can do some jobs with .amg scripts (was used by MeGUI to mux avi) but I don't know how can demux audio (and inform about delay) with a .amg script.

Maybe someone than know better the .amg script languaje.

Ok now it works without error, but on mux in to mp4 container the delay is forgotten.

I have just now encoded an avi with an audio track ac3 2 channels 192 kbps witch has a delay of 500ms, to mp4 with audio aac 48 kbps.

OneClick now works without error, but, at the end, the encoded mp4 was out of syncro exact 500ms.

MEGui doesn't detect Haali Media Splitter (installed thru CCCP) and doesn't allow the use of the DSS2 AVS plugin. Even if the box is checked in the AVS creation window, it's not used in the final AVS file

Are you using MPC-HC?? If it's a MPC-HC bug it's been there for years and I guess nobody else has noticed (except one other poster over at videohelp) but I can't get MPC-HC to obey the audio delay in MP4 files no matter what I do and I've tried just about everything. I even dragged out the earliest version of MPC-HC I have (2008) and it's the same.

If you're using MPC-HC check the MP4 with MediaInfo to see if there's an audio delay specified in the file as there should be. If there is, try another player. VLC should play it correctly.

I did several test encodes (also with own files with 5s delay) and I have the same problem as hello_hello. When encoding the audio file everything is fine as the delay is removed in the encoding step and the resulting delay in the mp4 is 0ms - but when muxing the audio the delay is applied to the MP4 (correctly regarding mediainfo) but MPC does not use the delay value.

Something has gone wrong for me with 2277/78.

Files that transcoded perfectly fine before now fail with errors. Even files that were created with MeGUI. These are .mp4 files.

The error log strangely refers to the file as 'Test.mkv' when in fact the name is 'Test.mp4'

Likely, yes. But I never tested/did that before.
